borrowing points

we are still new at this so please forgive me if this seems like a real duh-duh question! if we borrow points from next year and then have to cancel our trip, do we lose those points all together or are they returned to the use year? thanks for your help!:p

Once they are borrowed, points can't be returned to their original use year. If you cancel a reservation made with borrowed points, they will just go back into your current year's points and may be used for another reservation. If the reservation is cancelled within 30 days of the trip the points will go into a holding account and may be used for a reservation made within 60 days of the date you wish to travel.

They MUST be used before the end of the current use year, as they can't be banked.
