View Full Version : Official Star Wars Weekends Thread... Which Weekend Will You Be At?

Hi all! I thought I'd make a thread for all those going specifically for SWW. I'll be with my friend Rob at weekend 1, June 1st-3rd.

The weekend dates are as follows

weekend 1:June 1-3
weeknd 2: June 8-10
weekend 3: June 15-17
weekend4: June 22-24

So whose going when? dressing up or not?

The family will be at MGM on the Saturday the 9th. I have my Darth Maul and Young Boba Fett figures to get autographs. We also have reservations for the Fantasmic show that night with early dinner reservations, 3:30pm, at Hollywood & Vine. The wife and kids are going to take a resort break after dinner but I am going to hang out and take in the Star Wars activities

We will be there the The first weekend and the second weekend. My Dh wouldn't let me book our trip till the dates were released. He is a SW mega fan. I think he wants me to sew him and our son jedi outfits before we go. We still have all his toys from when he was a kid. i was never a huge fan before i met DH, but now he has brought me to the side of the force. Hope to see you Disers there. Are there going to be any lime green jedis? then I'll be able to spot you.

May you get the fastpasses you want and meet really cool people.

We will be there weekend 3 on Sunday. Weekend 4 Friday and Saturday. Not sure if boys will dress this time. (Teenagers now)

1st time June 23rd (always just missed it); have no idea what to expect.

Do children (adults too) dress up?

Do you have to purchase new merchandise for autographs?

What is the usual schedule/events we can expect?

Opening day for us. It's also our first SWW. We've always missed it by a weekend in the past.

its our first too! yeah we'll be the the 1st and 2nd, prob wont find a need to go back the 3rd unless we missed some merch or something.

Thinking of making a shirt that says "stormtroopers are hot" or "I <3 stormtroopers". If i do, ill let you know so you can spot me if you see it ;)

ok i just made and ordered a shirt. its black with gold lettering and says "Arn't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" :D Ill be wearing it june 1st for opening day. So if you spot me, say hello!

We'll be there weekend 2 and wekend 3. Still working on dressing up. WE'd love to at least wear the Jedi robes, but I've not had time to search for a pattern. We'll at the very least will have matching tshirts. We've been the last two years and loved it. :cool1:

Will be there for our kids' FIRST trip ever to WDW on the 3rd weekend. We check-in on the 16th, and will be in MGM on Father's Day! (Perfect for a DH who LOVES Star Wars!) CAN'T WAIT!!! :banana:
We'll be in matching shirts I'm making--and hoping to get the DD5 and DS9 into the parade!!

Now to just get the last couple payments made on our trip. . .:scared:

when I found out that we would be there for the second weekend.....
I kind of cringed!! (no flames please) Not a huge fan of SW.... but remember a few years ago when we hit MGM one morning not knowing it was a SW day!!!:scared1:
BUT......... when my 16 yo. DD found out.... Whoaaa.... she was really excited. :banana: So..... we are planning to hit MGM that weekend for sure!!
Since you all seem to be in the know......;) Do you have a link to what activities, plans, characters will be taking place???

Unfortunately, there's no true pattern for Jedi robes. Simplicity used to make one very, very similar to them, but they stopped making it (because they didn't want to get in trouble with Lucasfilm). If you can find it, it isn't exact, but close enough. You could probably find another robe pattern and use that. As for the tunics, find a short kimono pattern, as that is what the tunics really are. You can use off-the-rack khacki pants. Same with boots. The tabards and obi are fairly simple to make- they're basically long rectangles of fabric. The belt is one of the most complicated things to make. Remember, no two Jedi outfits are the same, so unless you want to "be" someone, it doesn't have to exactly match what is seen in the movies.

There are some fairly decent Jedi costuming sites out there (Padawan's Guide, theforce.net costuming forum). They should help.

(Yes, I am obsessed. Jedi costuming is a minor hobby of mine. Obviously, I'll be there as one. :lmao: )

i got my "arn't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" shirt today and it looks GREAT! If i can get around to it, ill take a picture and show you all.

And if you check out the DISsigns boards, there seems to be some discussion there for SWW shirt ideas.

I am taking my DS7 to the first weekend, June 2. We're staying til June 6 and seeing all the parks too. It's going to be a little mommy/son quality geek time, as well as a reward for doing souch an AWESOME job in 1st grade. I may have to order myself a tee as well!

We will be there the first weekend and it's our first time attending...my little boy is SO excited..I'm a little nervous what to expect though...we were at Disney for the first time this past December and it was QUIET...I don't expect it to be so for SWW.....

Any advice or tips? We are mainly going to get pictures with the characters...not really actor autographs or mechandise...and hopefully do the Jedi Training Academy....
