The fridge is currently missing and is considered lost. Unfortunately, the swap appears to be dead :(

The Fantastical All-Star Resorts fridge swap is in full swing and is entirely FREE to new participants! Swap includes fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, and toaster possibly. Available dates include Nov 17-Nov 30, Jan 11-Jan 26, 2008, and most dates after Feb 21, 2008.

Fridge swap details:

- Cost: The fridge has been paid for by the founding members of the swap and is considered FREE to anyone that would like to reserve it and use it responsibly

- Please keep the fridge clean!

- If you can't arrange to meet the person before you, and need to pick it up from ASMovies storage, you will want to go to ASMoves luggage services. Give the CM your information (name, ressie #, check-in date) and they will locate the box with the fridge for you.

- If there is a gap between you and the next swapper, and you need to leave it at ASMovies storage, you will tape a piece of paper to the box that says something like "Hold for guest (name), ressie #, and check-in date. Then you can have luggage services pick it up or take it their yourself. Either way, make sure to get a claim ticket, or receipt, for the fridge-Very important

- The home resort for the fridge is the All-Star Movies resort. We welcome anyone staying at one of the all-stars but we ask is that you have the fridge brought back to the Movies resort at the end of your stay. There are luggage carts available to do so and bell-services would be happy to help.

Coffee Maker now included for guests staying past Sept 9! A nice member has genorously decided to donate a coffee maker to the swap after she leaves. We will provide a pack of filters to go along with it.

We'll be at the All stars music June 10-23 and I want to get in on or start one. I don't mind if it's at Music, Movies or sports, since they are next to each other. The Pop ones only stick with the Pop, so I have been looking elsewhere. I may have a way to have one picked up as I have a relative in the Orlando area. Let me know. I don't care how many or few join, just want to split the cost some.

I just found these boards this evening and what luck...I have been talking to DH about renting a fridge while we are there. Staying at ASMo June 24- July 1. Would love to learn more and be part of the swap.

Great guys. I'm gonna start updating a list in my first post to keep track of who wants to get this swap going. I figure we'll need to be able to chain at leat 4 reservations to really make it go.

Like I said in my first post though, I won't have any transportation. If no one is available to start it before I get there, I'll see about having one delivered with our groceries.

Keep the dates comming! I'm sure there's tons of Dis'ers staying at ASMo this summer!

Anybody interested in adding a microwave? I was just going to buy one for 30 or 40.00 but if anyone else is interested.... I don't want to bother bringing one. We are driving but in a station wagon there's not a whole lot of room. Just say so on here and maybe we could add that if anyone is interested. I figure the savings with a microwave and speed of use too, it would be very economical, even for reheating pizza!:goodvibes

Since it's a long ways off yet, if this one doesn't take off (or there isn't anything else by then), I will be starting one for ASMo for our trip 2/8-2/19 so you aren't that long after us. I am sure we could find someone to fill in the gap :goodvibes I'll post when it gets closer!

Okay I have some friends going next week, they are driving and could get a fridge there, BUT.. they are staying at POP and I am not sure how much of a hassle it would be for them to get the fridge to ASMovies. They are first time WDWr's and are clueless about the entire thing. I think I could probably convince them to take it down with them (and them use it of course) but I wonder how it could make its way to ASmovies for our swap? they will be checking out next friday. If we could find one more person that was going to be there the week after them, and could retrieve it for us it would be easier I think.
as for the microwave, I would be happy to go in on that. I have an old coffee pot I can send down if need be ( I don't really need on for our room).
I would love to add window door decoration kit to the fridge box if possible. BUT... If I am sending it with them, my time is limited on what I could put together. Oh also... my sil and her family will be arriving the day we leave (dec 16) but will be staying at Music. I am sure they would like to be in on the swap too, but if we want to just keep it at MOVIES only - thats fine too.

We're currently booked at AS Music 9/7-9/17, but are going to try to switch to AS Movies if free dining is announced. We are currently paying for the DP, and will be buying the refillable mugs, but would love a fridge to keep sodas, yogurt for DD4's breakfast, and maybe a leftover dessert. Yummm!

I don't know about adding a microwave and toaster. Would be interesting but I think the primary goal should be to get the fridge going first.

LuckyLabonte: That sounds great actually. If they would be willing to leave it at POP then I'm sure myself or someone else could pick it up and bring it back to ASMo. The only problem is that we would need someone to fill in the mid-April dates since we can only leave it with the concierge for 2 weeks.

Everyone looks to be comming along guys, lets drum up some more interest. I'll ask the mods to add us to the fridge-swap list and to change the title.

I was hoping to locate a swap going for ASMO. We will be there August 11-18. This would be great I have a 3yr old granddaughteris allergic to milk so we have to bring Soy milk with us. It will need to be refrigerate after opened. Please let me know if you get rolling.

I looked at our local walmart today, and they don't have any small fridges, so I am not sure where I could get one in time to send with them on monday. :confused:
I can't ask them to stop somewhere and buy one... trust me. lol these people haven't even made ADR's or have any plans for what park each day etc. Its driving me insane! lol My dec trip is more planned out than theirs. :headache:

Why do we need someone to pick one up at Walmart and take it there? why can't we just get one online at walmart? There is a 2.7 cubic ft with a mini freezer inside for $108 with FREE shipping so ship right to the resort!! It would be worth it to me even if we had only 4 or 5 people (twenty something versus $65 to rent).

Thats a great idea Crazy, I was about to do that but I'm Canadian and the Walmart.com site won't accept a canadian billing address :( I don't think I'd have a problem getting one delivered by a grocery delivery company though it looks like we have some folks joining up for before I arrive. If they don't mind arranging to get the swap started that would be fantastic!

I've got a handfull of PMs and I've been away all weekend so I'll update the thread later with new dates and availability.

ordering it straight from walmart is fine with me, but I think we might need a few more people to add to the list, so that its not sitting there unused for a long period of time.
you can add my sil to December 17- 22 ( i am not sure their exact check out date, but i think I have it correct).
does anyone want to volunteer to collect the $$, if not I will. I have a paypal acct that accepts cc's etc. we just need to figure out how much to charge per person. Looks like we need to get it ordered soon so it will be there for the first person on the list.

If anyone can help out securing Dis's for those dates in red it would be great! I am not too worried about the later in the year ones, because I think the closer to that time, the more people will be planning and want to join.

I'm not sure, but I thought someone said that 2 weeks is the max that something can be left in baggage/luggage storage area..but I'm not sure!!!

I think rules are needed...we can start now!!

Rule number one: CLEAN IT OUT BEFORE LEAVING IT FOR THE NEXT PERSON!!!! (I've seen some other swaps where the purchase price incuded a set of disinfectant wipes and baking soda to be left with the fridge!)

Rule number two: when returning fridge please put the next person's name and reservation number on it

Anyone have others??

There are a few POP fridge swaps going on, which could lead to confusion as to which fridge is for which swap.

Looks like this is the only one for Movies so should be no confusion, and lucky, I see no problem in getting those dates filled up now that there is a swap for Movies confirmed.

We've got enough people to make the fridge really affordable, so just need to decide who can collect the money and buy the fridge.

I'm in Canada so I don't know if I can use my credit card with canadian address to buy at us walmart site. I don't mind doing the collecting through my paypal account, but I'm not sure if someone else isn't already planning to do it.

Reading through the description, the free shipping is "site to store" shipping to a an address will run about $15.00 for the smaller one.

The time gap between October - dec etc will fill up naturally once the fridge swap starts. Especially since fridge can be used at all 3 of the all-star resorts and there is no existing fridge swap for any of the all-stars.

I think there should be a minimal cost for people to use the fridge, see the pm I sent you, maybe $1-2.

I don't mind taking the payments and buying the fridge since toesmom is in Canada, it would probably be easier for someone in the US. BUT.. I am going to need some help keeping up with it all! :rotfl2: Starting next month I will be working 2 jobs and my time will be very limited.

By the time September comes, this fridge swap will be in full swing and I'm sure there will be another family waiting to use it after your visit. ASMo is a very popular resort.

(would love to go for the 2.7 cf fridge!! The cost would still be great with us all chipping in! Would it be too big for some to tote from desk to room?)

I think a little larger fridge is a better idea. Luggage racks are available at ASMo to get the fridge to the rooms.

It involves buying a small fridge and setting up schedule of people who will use the fridge.

Everyone who is scheduled to use the fridge will contribute a few dollars towards its purchase price and then has use of that fridge when they visit ASMo or other All Star resort for their check-in date to check-out date.

The person arranging the fridge swap will have all the names of people interested and dates of check-in and check-out to keep track of who is using fridge and when.

Obviously there will be many openings for the fridge and they will get filled up as dates get closer and people find out that there is fridge swap at All Star Movies.

I have not participated in fridge swap yet, but that's what I understand.

Disney charges $10 plus tax per night for fridge rental in value resorts, so combined cost for all parties to buy the fridge so far is only a few dollars so it's quite a bargain if you are staying even 3 nights.

Once you finish using the fridge, you take it back to luggage services (front desk area) and leave name of next person for fridge swap on the box.

I'm sure it's a little more complicated, but I think that's basically how it works.

Hey all! Wowzers this thread blew up in the last few days. Sorry but I've been busy with work and family and haven't had a chance to update anything.

Lucky: I love the google calender! Super great job!

I'll be posting the rules of the swap later on today so we can get everything in stone. So far, 4forthemouse has offered to bring a fridge down with them as they will be driving; since they're the first family signed up I figured that would make sense. I'd be happy to collect the funds and pass them on to 4forthemouse as I'm all set up on Paypal to collect Credit Card funds as well as Paypal funds. To simplify things though, I don't want to extend the payment out to every member. What I've gotten from the other swap organizors is that we should consider having the first 5 or so members distribute the cost among themselves and from there the fridge can swap free of charge. Another good way would be to have a small fee per day (say $2) up to $15 untill the fridge is paid for and then again, after it that it would swap free of charge. If you guys have any ideas, please just let me know via PM. I'll be online ALL day!

Personally, even though I wont be using it to December I still don't mind paying my portion. I just wouldn't feel right about being in on the start of it, and not contributing even if my trip isn't for another 8 months.

I, too, agree. Right now we have 18 people signed up...that means if the fridge costs $150 (which that is a very high end quote!), that is only $8.33 each...add another few cents per person for the baking soda and the disinfectant wipes to keep in the fridge...

I would think once the amount we will all contribute is set in stone, those of us with Paypal could send the money to the person purchasing, and maybe they could pay with Paypal, so they don't have to lay much out. Whatever is easiest....

well done guys, unfortunately for me, I found this thread too late, and my dates have been taken ..... ah well thems the breaks, if this one takes off big time, and there is a demand for a 2nd fridge, I will gladly jump back in for 9/21-10/12. I will keep an eye on this, if not I may just buy one myself anyways, as I don't fancy $210 to disney for my fridge !!!!!

I just checked www.wal-mart.com and they have 2.7 cubic foot fridge for $115 and then shipping. Smaller fridge is only $80 plus shipping.

Customer service told me I can't order the fridge since I live in Canada and my credit card is addressed in Canada.

I have a paypal account and don't mind collecting the money and transferring the funds to Amps or Luckylabonte to pay the credit card bill once it is ordered.

Any ideas?

Total estimated on the 2.7 including shipping is $130.34...if there are 18 of us that is $7.24 each...that is a great deal so I say go for the 2.7!! I wish I had a paypal account as I would do the collecting, but I don't...I'm sure whomever does the collecting will PM us shortly on how to send the $$. I"m totally psyched about being able to use the $50+ I'm saving on a nice TS somewhere!! Whoa--hoooooo!!! :thumbsup2

This looks great! I do have a question though. My travel dates aren't until February 2008. I see there are a lot of big gaps until then. What happens if the gaps don't get filled in and the swap is dropped? I realize it's a small amount of money, just wondering ;) I do love the idea of this swap though!

Thanks, I have already been on the list, just curious what happens if they don't fill up. I have no previous experience in this, so you are probably right, hope they do fill up. And what happens to the people that sign up later, do they have to pay anything to use it? If so, where does that money go? Sorry for all the questions, I am just fascinated by how things work ;)

It has sort of been decided that everyone signed up right now will split cost of fridge and once it's been paid for it will be free to use, so extra money doesn't go into anyone's pocket.

Now just need to collect money and buy the fridge... just waiting to hear when it will happen.

Everyone who is ready to take part will receive pm from Lisa with amount due towards fridge purchase. She won't buy the fridge until she has money to pay for it, so it should be between $5-7 per person.

When you do get the pm from her, please try to send your payment as soon as you can so we can buy the fridge and get this thing started.

Remember Disney rents the fridge for $10 plus tax per night.

We will be paying $5-7 each for the entire trip (not per night), correct? That's awesome! If there are "holes" in between swappers, where does the fridge get stored? Just trying to cover all bases, as I think there are spots before and after me open.
BTW, I just switched my reservation to free dining at AS Movies (was originally at AS Music), so I won't have far to go to pick up/drop off the fridge. I'm thrilled (even though I had to book preferred) and am hoping for pixie dust to get us into the Toy Story building!

Right now I have 17 on the calendar. It looks like the 2.7 cu ft fridge is what everyone wants. It will be appx $131.00 shipped. If the first person using the fridge (4forthemouse) wants me to send them the $$ and have them buy it and bring it with them, that is fine. If we divide it by 20 ( I KNOW there will be at least that many, that would be $6.55 per person. BEFORE paypal fees. So does $7 even sound fair?

We also need ideas on how to make our box stand out, and how we will know when to replace the cleaning supplies etc.

I think the initial cleaning supplies would last through the people who paid and then when it goes out for free their 'contribution' would be the additional cleaning supplies needed. As for making the box stand out...LIME GREEN (of course!!! :woohoo: ) How about a bunch of the Lime Green Mickey heads from Home Depot stuck all over the box??? Don't know who has it first but is that too much of a pain to do??? Some Lime green Mickey heads and a sign says "DIS SWAPPER"??

Lucky, I sent you pm because momoftwins wants fridge April 24-May 1 which means fridge will have to be shipped instead of delivered by another participant in the swap.

It should be easier since the money will be in your paypal account and you can purchase online and have them deliver directly to resort (should arrive by April 23 or earlier to be safe).

What do you think?



momoftwins: if you are the first using the fridge, could you go to home depot and pick up some of those lime green mickey things you all talk about and decorate that box so we know that is the disboards fridge?

In addition, on the rules, each person needs to PM the person arriving AFTER them just before their trip to get their confirmation #.

When a fridge member drops off the fridge with Luggage Services when they leave, they need to tape a large piece of paper with the next guests NAME, DATE OF ARRIVAL, RESERVATION # on top of the box.

I'm also going to print up some 11x17 sheets with large blanks for writing in the next users Name, Arrival Date, Reservation #, and Cell Phone #

When you are finished with the fridge, it needs to be boxed back up, taped up, and this sheet taped to the outside with this information and left with Luggage Services

Everyone seems to have different set of rules of when the pay deadline is, who gets first dips etc, and I just can keep up with it. I posted several times to CHECK THE CALENDAR to make sure your names and date were correct then pm me for payment information. Now I get all these pms telling me someone got someone elses dates etc. I don't want anyone to miss out, but with so many people making decisions its gotten very confusing.

We had a death in my family (that we just found out about last night) and I will be way to busy the rest of this week to sort this out. Someone needs to come up with rules (you request it and pay by certain time or it goes to someone else etc) but I can NOT deal with all this right now. It was simple when people just pmd me the dates and I got the payment. But to come home to all this confusion is not want I need right now.I know this thing will need to be ordered soon, and I wont have time in the next few day with the funeral to figure out who is right about their days etc. :confused3

I have 16 payments of $7 each with a 50 cent fee taken out. supposedly one needs to be refunded, but I am not in the mind frame to make the judgement call on who gets those dates. So we have $112 before paypal fees. I will eat those fees, because I just cant handle the confusion this has become with too many people making decisions on who gets it when.

Just tell me who will be taking over and where to send the $112 and I will also include the spreadsheet with the dis names, reservations names and info for each participate, also I can give you access to the google calender so you dont have to start a new one.

My family and this tragedy is much more important to me than trying to straighten out disagreements over a fridge, and I need to be with them right now. I will be leaving shortly to go back to my grandmothers and wont have email until I return home tomorrow sometime. I will send the $$ to whom ever is brave enough to take on the organizing (good luck!) as soon as I can. but trust me I WILL SEND IT. It might be mid morning tomorrow before I can get back online.
I am sorry to bail on this, but things that have come up IRL are too upsetting to try and spend time dealing with fixing these little mishaps.

June 2-8 has been taken by another member as the original who wanted those dates has not contacted anyone yet. The member taking June 2-8 has also sent you payment (the name is SGrossy and they are listed on page 1 for those dates).

With the $112 in your account now (-$7 for Minnie1981), do you have enough to order a fridge online from wal-mart.com and have it shipped to the hotel. Even the smallest fridge will do.

Amps is the OP but he is canadian as am I, so we can't order a fridge online from a walmart or target, it has to be purchased with US credit card.

Anyone else taking part in the swap want to order the fridge with your credit card and have lucky (lisa) forward the money to you through paypal? Or Lisa, can you just order a small fridge right now and have it shipped to All Star Movies (I can address for you anytime).

I have a PayPal debit card that gives me access to my PayPal balance and it gives me 1.5% discount when using as a Credit Card, so that will cover the PayPal fees I will incur when Lisa sends the money over to me.

I've checked on wal-mart site, I didn't check target yet, but they will ship to store location and I'm wondering how to get it to the resort. There may be another online retailer that will ship directly to resort. I'm going to take some time to find out if an internet retailer will be a better choice than wal-mart only because of delivery policy.

I'll let you know what I find out, anyone else who has time, please see if you can locate something. First user for the swap is April 24, so fridge should get there quickly. Let's order something that is affordable with what we have in our account right now.

And once again, Lisa, sorry for all the trouble. The only thing you'll need to do is send refund to 1981Minnie, Amps will handle everything else. And after that refund is done, Carol has kindly offered to take over the paypal account and purchase the fridge. We may already have enough to buy the fridge and have it shipped, I'll find out soon.

A question...you had emailed me that I had sept 17-22 yesterday. Does this still stand? I cancelled the request for those days I had on my reservation...do I need to put it back on for the 17th and 18th?

Fridge is yours from Sept 17 your check in date to Sept 22 your check out date.

If you look on Page 1 of this thread that was updated by Amps the OP, your name is listed in September reservations and if you see the corresponding dates before and after your name, your dates will fit.

hi amps...i am goin to have the frig 1st and i am goin to leave 3 extra (pre packaged) cleaning wipes for the next 2 ppl after me so that way it will stay clean. also i will leave a roll of packing tape to retape the box up after wards. and i will decorate it all nice with lime green, red and black mickey heads as well as other disney stickers. if there is anything else i need to do just let me know.
also ( this might be a stupid ?) but i have never had to turn off and repack a small frig....when i go to repack the frig in the box, what if there is some ice build up in the freezer part. i would hate to close up the frig with any moisture in it for mildew reasons!? any ideas

Lucky has collected all the money and as she is going through a difficult time right now, I'm not sure when the fridge will be purchased, I'm hoping by tomorrow since we are under 2 weeks to get it to the hotel.

The ebay seller's feedback comments say fast shipping, so shouldn't take more than a few days. I just need to hear back from lucky if she will buy the fridge off ebay or if she will transfer the paypal funds to either Carol or myself to make the ebay purchase.

Transferring the funds means that paypal will take some money off the total amount, so it's easiest for her to do the purchase through ebay using the paypal funds. I've given her all the info (link, address for hotel etc), but I'm not sure that she will even check her pm.

I'm going to do me best to take over now guys. Since lucky won't have time to update the calander, I'm going to remove it from the main post. Instead, any interested dis members, can you please check the dates I have posted in the first thread and consider anything not booked open.

I'll see what I can do in getting the fridge ordered right away and I'll worry about covering the extra cost. Every one that was waiting to pay or was about to, please hold up on it for now.

Opening available July 15 to August 4, and lots of dates from October 8 on into March 2008 so far.

Quick question, since this is now a refridge for all of the all star hotels.

Should we have a base hotel for the refridge?

Reason I'm saying this is so everyone knows where to pick up and drop off the refridge. I would hate to be booked in the ASMo and find out I have to go to AS sports and AS Music in search of the unit....especially if I don't have a car to go get it. (We strictly rely on disney transportation:scared1: while we are there.) Or will they(WDW) go to the other hotels in search of the unit for us?

Just curious on how this will be done and didn't see anything about it in the OP or the rules. :)

The rules on Page 1 refer to fridge always being returned to All Star Movies, but it can be used at the sports and at music. Luggage services has carts which can make moving the fridge fairly easy.

Also, you need to contact the person before you and after you on the list to get their hotel information, real name, reservation #, and cell phone #, that way when you leave you can tape a piece of paper to the box with that information.

Most of May is already booked up in this swap, dates middle of July to Aug 4 are open, as well as dates after Oct 8-Oct 21, Oct 29-Dec 10, Dec 23-March 2008 are open.

We can offer the fridge free to users who sign up now because it's been fully paid for.

There is another fridge swap started at all-star resorts that may have openings and you might be able to get enough on board to get fridge in time for your dates

The fridge was to be shipped Friday the 13th of April, haven't heard anything, but the seller has amazing feedback and super fast delivery turn-around, so I don't expect any problem in delivery.

I'll keep everyone posted when it arrives, but my guess is by Friday latest.

The fridge is on Fedex delivery truck in Orlando today and I expect delivery by the end of the day today. Guest information for first user (momoftwins checkin date April 24) should be marked on the label.

Momsoftwins, thanks for checking to make sure the fridge arrived safely.

As for cleaning the fridge once you are done with it, I would wipe it down with antiseptic wipes and then with clean towel, removing any water in freezer area and any food particles.

Then, repack in original box and bring back to front desk for storage for next user.

momoftwins: You should be able to use the fridge until the morning of your check-out and with normal items in the fridge I don't think you need to worry about airing it out. The next user after you is a day or 2 later anyhow.

I'm not entirely sure there is a freezer section that will ice up at all. Unless you leave something that has very strong odor in the fridge, I think you can wipe it at the end of your stay and return it to front desk.

I'll be buying a coffeemaker and filters for our visit 9-2-7 thru 9-9-7 (we don't want Nescafe as we're coffee snobs.) I'll leave it at the front desk with the same name as the fridge and now there will be a coffeemaker with the fridge after 9-9-7. So for those of you coming after me: if you'll use it make sure to add coffee & creamer/sugar to your list of this to get or bring. Yummy coffee in our rooms. Woohoo!:woohoo:

Since I will be picking up the fridge 9/7, do I meet up with Estherhead or go to the front desk? Then should I meet up with Esther again on 9/9 for coffeemaker (thanks Esther!), or the front desk again? Not a problem either way, just never swapped before. One more question- we will be on the dining plan, but usually pick up snacks/drinks at the supermarket. If we overbuy and have sealed stuff left over, is it ok to pass them along to the next DIS'er with the fridge? Last year we had wine coolers, water, etc, and left them for the mousekeepers.

I don't know the answer to #2 as I haven't bought it yet but it'll be a full size 10-12 cup one. I'll buy it in Orlando when we buy our breakfast bars, water, etc. I'm gonna buy a big bunch of whichever filters it takes so the first few people after me won't have to worry about anything but the coffee. Then when I come home I'll post all the details so they can be added to the original post. So stay tuned after 9-10-7 for my full trip report on the trip report page & the coffeemaker details.

Oh, and we always bring insulated cups in our luggage so we can be sipping our coffee on the way to the parks too so don't forget a cup for you & your mate!

Anyone know if we can bring our insulated cups into the park or will we have to dump out the coffee & stash the empty cup in the diaper bag? We normally drive & just leave in the car but this time we'll be riding buses too.

Oh my goodness, you guys are making me so excited!
