hair straightener question!!!!

I know its been asked a million times and answered a million times but,:sad2: what are the best hair straighteners to buy in Florida keeping in mind that my daughter uses GHD's here and has naturally curly hair!! We don't want to spend loads on them either!

Sorry to ask the same question again but didn't know where to find the answer!!

If you buy some over there then please be carefull if you bring them back. The higher voltage here could increase their temperature to one which could be damaging.

Hi there Cath,

The new style GHD's are dual voltage,so they can be used in the USA, the old style are not and will heat up slightly in Americe but wont heat up to their full temp. Maybe it would be worth investing in a new set of GHD's rather than buying an American set? You can buy ceramic straighteners in the Premium outlets, i spoke with the owner of the shop (cant remember the name of it but it sold discounted hair products) and he said they have their version of them and if i remember correctly thet cost around $99 and at todays £ to $ rate you may find this a worthwhile investment. Sorry i can't remember the name of them but if you will be visiting the outlets then it should be easy enough to find.

I have got a pair of Nicky Clarke dual voltage straighteners which work really well on my hair. I actually prefer them to GHDs.

The US equivalent to GHD straighteners are called Farouk CHI. I bought a pair off eBay for £48 and they work fantastically in US and Caribbean... :thumbsup2

I always find that my GHD's never heat up enough to work that well in the US.

Anyway I bought a pair of 'colorliss' or something like that in the Florida Mall. Girl selling them said they were made by the same company that make GHD's but better. They were manufactured in the UK! And came in a selection of colours. Think they were about $90

Anyway they did the job but not sure I would say they were quite as good as my GHD's.

jools is right - the brand name is Corioliss and they are made by GHD in West Sussex. I bought the pair that cost 90 USD too, and I would say they are very good - but not as great as my GHD ones I use here in the UK. I don't regret it for a moment though, as the US ones can be used anywhere in the world on any voltage and have an adapter kit, which makes it well worth it for me as I travel a lot. I used them in Africa last month and they worked brilliantly there too.

I had problems with my wet n shine straightners. They did not heat up enough and it took me forever to straighten my hair. Only problem is I love those ones, because you straighten your hair whilst its wet. I dont think GHD or Nicky Clarkes one do.
