Good Morning Riddlers.....Happy First Day of Spring! :flower3:

Please PM me with your answers to the following....

Inside each set of the following words, there are a pair of smaller words. By putting & between them, lo & behold, you'll make a familiar phrase. For example, "Thighbone/Swallowtail" conceals "High & Low."

1. Skyrocketing/Trolleyman
2. Thermometer/Apoplexy
3. Delaware/Bordering
4. Surprised/Trashiness
5. Throughout/Stumblebum

Have a great day!

Ok so I posted this elsewhere but it is funny. Background information: I teach a University class one night a week in contrast to my SAHM persona and my superfly disboard celebutante gansta persona. Lately I have been stalking babynurse1- a totally cool DISer who so funny and we were having a conversation about Dr. Christian Troy- the hunky doctor on Nip/Tuck.

The MOST embarassing thing just happened....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

now that I have your attention

So I decided to do some actual work. I was going to email my class with some reminders and friendly advice about the really hard homework I assigned just before spring break. Usually they goof off and then try to do the assignment in 30 minutes before class... um.. free life lesson... if a college teacher gives you 3 weeks to work on a project you are going to need more than 30 minutes to do it

So I write a long note kind of highlighting some important concepts, stressing the need to prepare for our next quiz over my pet subject, blah, blah, blah...
so I also have a class webpage-thingy where I can post announcements so I hit control c so I could copy it to post and to send via group email. I hit post and was about to send the email to my 28 students when I realized that I didn't hit control c so I had just posted the thing before that which was

Quote:
Last edited by babynurse1 : Today at 09:35 AM. Reason: I'll sign up for the Dr. Troy mouth to mouth class too!!!!

That is what I sent to ALL my students!

So the DIS can indeedy be hazzardous to your career. I deleted it speedy quick and had to retype my actual message to post and email.

It looks very good, but hey, if you're one of the three non-movie-critics who didn't like the second movie, you probably won't like the third one either.

Your story was great, though. I've always been afraid of doing something like that myself. As a matter of fact, I almost did earlier today.

Where is our real angel??????

Monica- Good to see you!

Em- I liked the 2nd movie.... it just didn't live up to the first. Had some good ideas, some good scenes but over all was a little lacking. And I am not theater critic... I like a good comic book movie. Anyway part of the joy of the first was that it was so unexpected... the mix of drama, special effects and plain ol good humor. I think the second one needed to the two guards....

How do you figure that since the Browns have won eight championships since the Cubs last won the World Series? The Cubs prob. won a lot of things too before they started World Series. Once they started that whole thing, not so much. I haven't checked lately...how many Superbowls have the Browns won/been in?

Surprisingly, no. The first World Series, of course, happened the year the AL was formed and I don't know the date offhand, but the Cubs hadn't been in existence for very long before the AL was formed.

EDIT: I just looked it up. The American League became official in 1903. The Cubs still weren't even called the Cubs back then.

If anyone cares, their original name was the White Stockings and they did, indeed, win 6 of the first 11 championships as the White Stockings in the 1800s.

And how many other teams have not won/been in a Superbowl?

Are you saying all of those teams are also the Cubs of the NFL? :teeth:

And how many professional baseball franchises have never won a World Series?;)

Padres, Astros, Brewers, Mariners, Rangers, Expos/Nationals, Rockies, Devil Rays

NFL Teams to never win the Super Bowl:

Cardinals, Lions, Eagles, Oilers/Titans, Browns, Bills, Chargers, Vikings, Falcons, Saints, Bengals, Seahawks, Panthers, Jaguars, Texans

Quite an extensive list in both categories.

Of the cities that had NFL teams the year of the first Superbowl, only Detroit, and Cleveland haven't even at least lost one. You can take your pick as to which team you want to call the Cubs, and which team you want to call the Indians of the NFL.
