I am writing here as a last resort. I am so frustrated and everyone tells me to hang in there but I am about ready to give up.

Short version of my story. Last March I was diagnosed with high cholesteral and tryglycerides, without hardly any effort I lost 30 pds, just made a few diet changes and started walking.

Between a cruise in Oct and Christmas I gained back 10 pds, so that puts me at 180, so Jan 2nd I give it all I have gave up pepsi which is a huge addiction for me....at still off it now. Gave up chips, chocolate and fast food, the first week I lost the 10 pds I gained....GREAT. So after the first week of Jan I am 170 again. I started alot of cardio exercise as I am doing a few walk/runs still no junk, pop, fast food ext and am only at 164????? I am not doing much in the way of weights so I am not gaining muscle...even my legs have always been very toned so no muscle gain there.

I just don't get it.

Any advise on how to kick it in to geer again would be great, I am about ready to get McDonalds at lunch I figure why do all this work when I am not losing weight.

Sorry for the vent I am just so frustrated.

How many calories are you eating a day? What is your diet plan?

Calories about 1200 - 1400 per day.

No diet, just cut out all junk food, pop and fast food. Basically eatting clean.

Maybe you should try eating more - not less. (good food, not junk food - just some more calories). What is your height?

I started at 240, now am at 159. I go down about 5 pounds at a time, and stay in one place for months and then try to kickstart back down. But the most important thing - how are your triglycerides and health? No matter what, even if you don't lose quickly, eating healthier and exercising is good for you. And my pants can fit a little more snug even at my same weight if I'm not getting in enough strength training or running (the latter I started months ago to help get more lean muscle on me). Don't think of it in terms of weight - you are doing a lot of the right things for your body.

Have you given up sugar & refined carbs? If you stop all sugar & burn fat quicker. Do not give up. If you slip just shrug it off & keep trying new things.:)

Thank you all for the encouragement.

I just needed to vent, I have not given up sugar but cut it almost completely out, just still put it in my tea.

Again thank you all.

According to my WW leader here in the UK if you have been a consistent over eater and somebody who generally consumes unhealthy food when you suddenly change that and drastically reduce your calorie intake your body can go into a starvation mode whereby it stores fat, especially if you take up lots of aerobic exercise.
I've lost about 30lbs since end july (slow I know) but I've done it by making healther everyday food choices and without a mad exercise regime.
Doing it slowly means I've re-educated myself for life rather than rush to lose and then when I hit goal stuff my face with all the things I've missed.
You obviously had health reasons to lose weight and you have done really well :cheer2: but believe or not as our other DIS friend said you may need a few more healthy calories :thumbsup2
I snack on handfuls of mixed seeds and soya nuts which I find give me loads of energy (esp with two little ones to look after all day) they aren't low calorie but they maintain my blood sugar (GI) and therefore I do not crave sweets, chips and biscuits like before.
I'm in a dip at the mo as the kids have been ill and our weather has turned really cold so I know how you feel. With five weeks to go until WDW my dream of loosing another 10lbs may get fulfilled, it may not!

As someone who has hit plateau's before I find a change in exercise may do the trick, maybe adding some weight training to the aerobics would help. Muscle burns fat much more efficiently. Bike riding or swimming or anything you like. Good luck.
