Hi everyone-
I have never posted on this forum (post on other Dis forums) but I read it all the time for all the inspiration..you all rock!:goodvibes

I was wondering if anyone would share with me how long it took them to lose 20 pounds. Weight loss for me is very slow...I am trying to lose 20 and it is taking forever. I know everyone is different but I just want to see how long a typical 20 takes for people.

My first 20, about 3 months. 2nd 20, probably closer to 6 months. Not sure on the 3rd 20, but I can say that the last 20 pounds has taken about 2 years.

I could use one more 20. :) If it takes 2 more years, I'm good with that.

Hi. It took me five months to lose 20 lbs. And since then I've been bouncing around that total for 3 months with no significant drop. I feel like I lose very slowly as well. But at least I'm being successful at keeping it off so far. But like you and probably most people, I would've thought in 8 months I would've lost a lot more.

Don't give up though, you will get there!

I would say 2 months. I lost a total of about 35 in 3 months. Now I have gained back about 15-20 so now I have a goal to lose atleast 15 in 2 months. I have been working out consistently for almost 3 months now and haven't lost anything so now I need to get my butt in gear on the diet part! :woohoo: We leave for the World in a little over 2 months and I would like to fit into my summer clothes!!!

I would think it matters how much you need to lose. If you only need to lose 20 it would take alot longer. I lost 20 in 7 weeks but I have alot to lose.

I was thinking the same thing... I hit 20 lbs lost somewhere between weeks 3 & 4 (17.4 at week 3... 25.6 at week 4). BUT I have a LOT to lose... started at 330 :scared1:

When I first started losing weight and was over 200 pounds I lost 20 pounds in two months. This last 20 pounds or so to goal took me 5 months to lose 20 pounds. I think it really depens on how much you have to lose and where you are in the weight loss stage.

Hope this doesn't drift from the original topic too much, but those of you that have done it in 2 months...how did you do it? More exercise, better eating, or a combination of both. I mean...I think I already know the answer to that, but just wondering specifically.

Congrats to all of you!

I posted above but I didn't give any specific details. I lost about 35 #'s in about 3 months. Since I was really never active before I started by walking on a treadmill for 30 to 60 minutes usually 6 days a week. I also did weight watchers and never strayed from it. I also gave up soda b/c I knew I couldn't just drink one so that would sabotage my diet for sure. I also increased from walking to jogging and running and I also started do some weights though honestly I didn't put that much time at all into weights. I got really crazy with the diet and exercise when I started to see a major loss. I was sometimes spending up to 2 hours in the gym doing cardio. That's my story! Congrats to everyone who is trying to lose weight and to those of you that have been able to maintain it! Maintaining it can be a struggle. As my previous post stated I have gained back 15-20#'s of the 35 I lost.

I'd have to say it is a combination of exercise and diet w/ a sprinkling of a lot of weight to lose. The more you have to lose the faster you can lose it at first.

I did my 9lbs in 1 month and started with a total of 25 to lose to WW goal. So it is in a sense my last 20+ to go, the hard lbs to shed. I lost over 40 years ago and kept off 20, so this 20 has been the hardest to keep off. I have never taken it this seriously though, really wanting it off... so I think that is why it is coming off. I changed my eating and excercising 100%!

It took me between 5-6 weeks to lose my first 20. I had a lot to lose and wasn't very active so it came off a little easier. My next 20 took closer to 11 weeks. Then the next 20 took about 15 weeks. The last 20 took about 17 weeks.

My advice is if you drink alot of pop give up as much as you can if not all of it. Get active. I do alot of walking. I walk at lunch and after work and in the winter I was on the treadmill every day. It's boring, but it keeps me active. Watch what you eat. I started eating Salads instead of fries and Sugar Free pudding instead of Ice Cream. Just a few examples of what I've done. I've got my Mom on this kind of program (Not that it's really a program) and she has lost 19 pounds in 6 weeks. I'm so proud of her. I only see her once a week so it's cool to see the changes on her like she has seen on me.

Good Luck Everyone!
