Public Display of Affection

Does your school have any rules about it?
-If yes, do you like the rule?
-If no, do you wish there was a rule? Or are you glad there isn't one?

OMG I hate PDA. I had a boyfriend for 3 years and we never did PDA.

My old schools (lol) policy was if the principal seen it, you got 4 days of DSC, plus 2 weeks of after school detention...

So they were pretty strict.

What is DSC?

Wow, that's crazy. My school doesn't have any rules against it. Sometimes I like it that way. Other times, it's kinda gross.

I mean, nothing is wrong with hugging or holding hands in the hallway, or even a guy kissing his girl on the forehead. But when you have people kissing on the lips and such, it's a little much.

My school does have a rule against it. Some teachers enforce this rule, others look the other way.

My boyfriend and I have had teachers threaten to write us up and send us to the office for PDA outside after school. We weren't making out or anything...it was kind of ridiculous. And I know of one couple who got a morning detention for PDA. They're gross though so I understand it.

No matter how many PDA rules they make, it's going to happen. But what can we do? Nothing anyone can do about it.

AngienLuLu

Exactly. School officials can do all they want. It's still going to happen. And there is nothing they can do to stop it.

yeah, there's a rule. Hand holding is okay, but nothing more. I've had a teacher yell "PDA" at me for hugging a friend of mine. Most teachers don't care though.

Honestly, I don't care about PDA. If you're making out in the hallway, go right ahead, its not offending me any. :confused3

I don't think any couples are gross. I just don't care. I've got too much going on in my head to worry about who's tongue is down who's throat.

Overall, I think our attitude against PDA as a whole is rather suppressive. Its like its bad to kiss now.

As long as they aren't making out... I'm ok with it.
I don't think our school is that strict on PDA... because... I see couples kissing in the hallways sometimes. But, none of it is out of control kissing... maybe just a peck on the lips or cheek...

But most of the time it's hugging.

I've stated before my opinions on the sexual opinion of America as a whole. We're suppressed. Sex is bad, we hate it, but we want it. We shun it, but we're still interested. We cover our eyes, but we're peeking through our fingers. Same Sex marriage is illegal, but the play boy mansion has its own video games. :confused3 Sex and controversy both sell, so if you can get them together, its marketing genius.

Personally, I don't care. I don't care about anyone's opinion. If I'm walking down the street and I want to kiss my boyfriend, I'm damn well going to kiss him. I don't care if someone thinks its "gross" or "improper". Thoughts like that send us back to the 1700s. We might as well wear ankle length skirts if we're going to adopt views like that.

PDA is not bad. As long as you're not in my way, I don't care. Even if you are, I'll just go around you. I really, really don't care. Live and let kiss. :confused3

I'm not really sure if my school has pda rules. I know that my junior high school did. They really inforced it there. But my high school doesn't really inforce it. By my locker there's this one couple and they make out every time they go to there locker. They don't block my locker or anything but they sometimes block my friend's locker and it really annoying. And we're always like, "can you please stop for a second and move?" But nothing is really bad in the hallways.

At our homecoming dance this year a chaperone yelled at a boy and a girl for grinding but like it's okay for two girls to do it...

A bunch of lesbians at my school try to trick the straight girls into thinking they're really guys.
I think that's cute since sometimes the girls are stupid enough to fall for it. You'd think they'd know that the girls they'd been going to school with since first grade are girls...not boys.

There is a huge gay population here. I can name five gay guys off the top of my head, and I don't have time to list all of the lesbians. dozens and dozens. And half the school is bi.

It wasn't anything new to see girls in tuxes. Sometimes you can't even really tell if they're girls or not.

It makes a good bit of us very very open minded. and some very very close-minded.

PDA - Does your school have any rules about it?

oh yes.
you can get expelled for engaging in any sexual actions (kissing, sex, etc.) whether with a guy or girl -- even if it's off school property. my school doesn't really care if you hug if it's for like 2 seconds, but if you hold hands or kiss someone, you're going to hell!

i personally don't care.
you can makeout with someone, but if you are in front of my locker, car, classroom, whatever.. i will expect you to break apart, breathe, move, and let me by before resuming whatever it was you were doing before.

crazy2beautiful
03-16-2007, 06:33 PM
Well because a few of them didn't decide they were bi until after they got into serious relationships with people of the opposite sex. So even if they really are bi, there's nothing they can do about it. They're tied down. And being bi and wearing rainbow everything gets them a lot of attention.

DSC doesn't mean anything I meant SDC. Like in school suspension.

And I revise my opinion because I was not clear enough. First of all I guess me and my ex did do PDA, but not like sticking our tongues down each others throuats at school. We held hands, and hugged a lot, and hung on to each other.

Also there is this girl Tara and her boyfriend Daniel they are always in SDC, for PDA. But I have never seen them do anything more than hug eachother. That's ridiculous. I can look the other way, and it depends on what kind of PDA but sometimes I think it's cute. ;)

We have a rule in my school that says nothing beyond hand holding, but this is totally overlooked by teachers. I don't mind when a boyfriend and girlfriend peck on the lips or cheek in school, heck, I don't mind if it's a deep, passionate kiss. I don't have a boyfriend, so I'm not doing this, so I really don't care. But what does kind of make me feel weird is when I'm late to a class or something, or I'm going to the office, and there's, oh I don't know, Jane and Jim, making out like there's no tomorrow. And when there's no other way around them, just you, Jane, and Jim in the empty hallway. It can just be a little bit awkward. They're doing their thing, and poor little freshman girl is like, "Um, excuse me? Move, please?" ;)

But yeah, the hugging and holding hands while walking down the hallway? Very cute. It makes me smile.

we have no rules at my school.
none that i'm aware of.

i think we are alot more liberal about that type of thing here in Canada (at least where I'm from)

i'll kiss my boyfriend wherever i want to, and i dont ever notice anyone grimacing or making a big deal of it. people do it all the time.
i'm not saying im going to shove my tongue down his throat in public, just if i want to kiss him, i'll kiss him.

Yeah, we have rules about it. Some teachers really enforce them, others look the other way. My ex-boyfriend and I got in trouble because he had his arm around me at lunch, and another couple in the band got in trouble for hugging too long. You're only alloweing "catch-and-release" hugs and hand-holding. But there are always the couples who go the stairwells and make out, and no one really cares. As long as they're not in my way (like standing in front of my locker) I could care less. I don't get why we have the PDA rules - it's just another one that people are going to ignore, including more than half of the teachers.

Yea, we have PDA rules but, like most other schools, there not enforced. Although, some boy kissed his girlfriend in the elevator and it opened and a vice principal was standing there and saw him. He got a detention, but she's the vice principal.

Yet, here's a story that really bursts my bubbles:

There's a girl. Her name's Brittni. She likes this guy, James. James thinks she's ok but is going out with a girl named Nikki. James decides to go out with Brittni and then Nikki gets mad. Her and her posse get mad because they are the "mess-with-me-I-beat-you-up" kind of people. Yesterday at lunch the Nikki posse comes over and threatens Brittni. She starts to cry so one of her friends goes to tell James. He goes to Brittni and hugs her. It was so touching. ANYWAY those girls dare Brittni to fight for herself and go outside. The Nikkis go outside and Brittni's scared to. One of the Nikkis comes in and says if she doesn't go outside, she'll get beat up MORE. Brittni goes outside but James says she's tough so he stays inside. The girls don't touch Brittni. They don't seem to care... I never got it. The part that makes me mad, though, is the fact that James KNOWS Brittni may get beat up and he doesnt' even go and fend for her. He does nothing. In fact, he stayed inside for lunch. It made me sad to see that kind of thing. It didn't make a ton of sense. Now the whole school is either on Brittni's side or the Nikki's side... I'm on Brittni's but only because I've never liked Nikki.
