We had nonstop flights!! We are flying Airtran and they have changed our flights 3 or 4 times and in doing that, we now have a layover! We are flying in the morning of the 14th and returning the morning of the 26th.
Edited to add: I actually just got off of the phone with Airtran and they did have one nonstop flight from Orlando to Kansas City, so we are now on that one! At least it's nonstop one way!! :)
That's great that you got a nonstop! It's soooo much easier with kids. I'm envious of the extra days in FL... we would have had the entire week following the cruise if I hadn't NEEDED that WDW vacation for my birthday this past January. :rotfl: You'll have to let me know how the Airtran flights are. We've considered flying them many times, but still haven't.

Does anyone know if there are alarm clocks in the staterooms?
The new propeller clocks do have an alarm, but they are not digital or lighted. We tend to use the Mickey wake up call! :)

We received our cabin assignments today. We are a party of 4 adults and 2 children. We booked Cat 12 GTY and were upgraded to CAT 10, cabins 1049 and 1053. I am very happy with the cabins but noticed that the cabin between us (cabin 1051) is adjoining to 1053. Do you think there is a chance the occupants of 1051 would want to switch so our group can have adjoining cabins?
Please understand I realize that the people may have requested 1051 and I completely understand if they do not to trade but though it would not hurt to ask.
So if your in 1051 or know who is, are you interested?
Thanks in advance.
Still lookinf for the occupants of Cabing 1051. Hopefully they will read the board and let me know if they would consider switching cabins.
We can't wait to set sail and the bonus shuttle launch the night before, how cool is that. We've seen one before in the daytime but they say the night launches are really cool.

You ladies are too sweet!!!
We've been so busy this week. Thankfully, DH is working today, oldest DD is taking the ACT (for the 3rd time), and the younger 5 kids are keeping to themselves. My house is so quiet right now that it's actually kind of eerie!
Sooo... I took advantage of the time and I was actually able to make some progress on our packing! I got both toiletry bags packed - along with our tiny carry-on. I was just going to go with a single fanny pack and no carry-on except for the back sack containing the goodies that will keep Olivia (age 3) busy on the plane, but decided to go with the Baggallini instead of the fanny pack mainly because of all the confirmations, etc... wouldn't fit in the other. (By the way, I learned of this bag (http://www.baggallini.com/product2.asp?product=%27MES160%27&Fabric=%27Crinkle%27) here on the DIS boards a couple years ago and it's a GREAT travel bag!)
Oh I am just getting so excited!!!!!:cool1:
I have a couple of questions...
Does anyone have any idea what dining rotations we are likely to get? I read back where someone gave rotations for adults only, young kids, and older kids. Then there was an alternate rotation posted by Sue (DisneyDay). Which one is likely to be correct? Are my kids (10,11) old (I assume so)?
Angie, could you possibly run a seminar on family organization for us while we're cruisin'?!!! If I had six, I just don't know how I'd manage...you seem to have it down to a science:worship:
We have early dining...someone asked that awhile back.

Me too!!! It's really starting to hit me that we will be cruising --- very soon! We are well under 500 hours now! ;)
I've always heard that families with young kids start in Animator's Palate, families with older kids start in Parrot Cay, and adults-only groups start in Lumiere's... but that was before they revised the rotational order, so I'm not sure if this still holds true or not. On on first cruise, we had APLAPLA... our kids were 4, 6, 6, 8, & 14.
The rotations are now APPLAPL, PLLAPLA, and LAAPLAP. Your 2nd restaurant repeats for day 3.
You can always do what I did --- and request the rotation you'd prefer! :) DCL is great about accommodating requests!!! If you booked direct thru DCL, give them a call ASAP and they can add the request to your reservation. If you booked thru a travel agent, call or email them ASAP and they can submit the request for you.
For this cruise, we requested PLLAPLA since we'd prefer Formal night in Lumiere's (the more upscale restaurant) and Pirate Night in Parrot Cay (the tropical-themed restaurant). This is also the best choice for us since we'd like our Character Breakfast on Thursday as we have Palo Brunch scheduled for Monday. By the way, your Character Breakfast will always be the 1st Sea Day morning (or Key West day on the Western since there are only 2 Sea Days) following your first night in Animator's Palate. APPLAPL has it on Sunday, LAAPLAP on Monday, & PLLAPLA on Thursday.
Angie, could you possibly run a seminar on family organization for us while we're cruisin'?!!! If I had six, I just don't know how I'd manage...you seem to have it down to a science:worship:

You are correct! It's the same thing. :)
There is only one form that I remember from last time that wasn't included in the packet... it's a Bahamas customs form. I know... I know... it didn't make sense to me either since we don't go to the Bahamas on the Western! Well, I guess we go to Castaway Cay. I'm still confused about this form! :confused3 I think I'll search to see if it's still needed. Maybe we just fill it out at the port now. I can't imagine it's no longer needed. Our governments never try to simplify things for us!

OK, Luggage is out.....we're leaving in 2.5 weeks  We bought new luggage, but not DH and I are at war about how much luggage we need to bring. Do you think 1 large and 3 medium luggage is too much?? Plus carry-ons? LOL. It's just so hard with having to pack a suit, formal dress and evening outfits.
Does anyone have a good packing list? I'm struggling already! There is just one formal night, correct? I'm used to two formal nights on RCL. We have our pirate costumes ready.
Cute pics, Laura!!! Thanks for sharing! Did you take those pics of the kids? If so, you're an awesome photographer!!!
Yes, I did. Thanks! I decided to not bring my big camera on the cruise this time, so I'm not going to get some great shots......but figured the photographers on the ship will help me out with that! I just wanted to enjoy this trip and not worry (and drive kids and DH crazy) with trying to get "perfect" shots. So we're bringing the point and shoot :scared1:

Hello everyone...just wanted to introduce ourselves. We're on the 11/15 Western and I've been keeping up with the thread to some extent, just haven't posted until now.
Jessica and I have been on two previous Disney cruises...
Nov 2002 Western, the week of Thanksgiving...(our honeymoon)
Nov 2005 Eastern, the week after Thanksgiving
The first two were without kids, and now we'll be bringing our daughter Rosalynn. The day we embark, Nov 15, will be Rosalynn's 2nd birthday. The day we disembark, Nov 22, will be our 6th anniversary. So, this will be another celebratory cruise for us.
If you see us around, say hi!

Laura, your kids are just sparkly!
I haven't taken the time to firgure out how to post photos and since we're at the 10 day mark...it's unlikely I'll get around to it. You'll know us by the green bracelets and we are all fairly tall and blonde. I'll likely be wearing red. :rotfl:

Hey Tami, last year we actually used the space saver bags you can purchase...you know the kind you attach to a vacuum and it magically sucks out all of the air from your clothing and make them paper thin! I just asked our stateroom attendant, Philip for a vacuum when it was time to pack up and we were good to go! Good luck!

Well the Christmas tree is up! As little ones were ringing our doorbell for trick or treating, we were in full decorating mode! We decided to put our tree up (an artificial one of course) this weekend as next weekend we know will be consumed by packing! We leave on the 10th for our pre-cruise adventure at The World and we don't return home until the 24th from our post-cruise excitement. We figured coming home to a festive house might help with the post vacation blues!
Our cruise is only second in line now!!!!
we had a lovely halloween here. It's usually quite cool here (about 14F) but today we had 71F. It's supposed to get cool and snow and rain on Wednesday. THE DAY WE LEAVE!!! :lmao:

Hello all, I just found this board today (hmm makes me feel not-so-net-savvy). Anyway, I am glad to have found it. Very, very excited about the cruise. We are (or at least I am) veterans of DL-CA (since my dad lives in the area). We took the boys earlier this summer. We're cruising with: Bill, my husband (44), Me (40), Bo (7 as of 10/25), Ian (3.75 - almost 4) and Bill's slightly older sister, Val and her BF, Todd, who the boys nicknamed "T". They live in Phoenix, while we live in western Illinois (flying from St Louis). Once I figure out how to post pictures, I'll upload a few of everybody.
This is Bill & my third cruise; first time with Disney & first time with kids, second time to Western Caribbean. We have the late dinner seating. Ideal situation will be to have kids eat early and drop them in kids club during dinner. Ian has a hard time sitting still. We also have Palo dinner reservations on Tuesday - early - 6:30 pm. I am still confused about the restaurant rotation schedule.
I hurriedly browsed through the earlier posts. What is this about a 5K? Is that on the ship? I'm more of a tennis player, than a runner. Bill and I thought about bringing our running shoes, just in case, to stave off some of the calories we intend to consume. ha ha:thumbsup2
I am looking forward to some insights as well as possibly meeting some other people.

Hi there, still no word from Treva on our official meet, but I am pretty sure we had agreed to all meet at the sail-a-way party first, am I right? I know someone had made a good suggestio0n of where to meet but that was sooo far back in the posts. My memory what was left of it abandoned me with the birth of Trevor!
I will call Treva again tomorrow.

Hi Guys, I am getting a little concerned because I have left two more messages for Treva and she has yet to get back to me about our meet and greet. This was sooo easy to arrange on RCCL and NCL, I did not realize it would be such a hard thing on DCL. I am going to keep on it though and will get back to you asap.
I finally completed our registration on line last night. I swear I am going to try to pack at least the toletries tonight. Wish me luck!!!

I just called Treva from DCL and left her another message, I am getting very concerned that she was unable to to make any arrangements for our meet as she said she would and maybe that is why she is not calling me back.

Don't feel badly. I only have 1/2 a garment bag packed. Busy weekend with soccer games basically leaves me Sunday and Thursday to pack!! I am a little stressed

I probably won't have a whole lot of time to spend at dismeets as we are having a family reunion cruise and I'll be spending most of my time with my immediate and extended family (who I never get to see).
However, If you see a crazy blonde waving furiously at all of you dissers with green bracelets, give me a cheerful wave back to make me feel a part of it!
That being said, here is some info on our cruise that you all probably already know, but someone posted on the general forum looking for info, and I thought this might help a newbie to our thread.

Good Morning!
Is everyone packing today? I've been soooo busy that I'm way behind where I thought I would be. I hope to have most of it done by tomorrow night though as I don't think I'll have much time (if any) to finish this week. I'm currently sitting here debating what to cut out as everything that I'd like to bring is simply not going to fit in our suitcases.
When are you all leaving? We're scheduled to leave our house Friday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. just after the kids get out of school. I've arranged for a limo to pick us up to take us to (and from) the airport. Shhhh - it's a surprise! I think the kids will be very excited!
We'll arrive in Orlando at 10:15 p.m. and we're staying at the Hyatt. I hope I can get the kids to sleep early, so they'll be well-rested for the big day! We've arranged for a private van to pick us up at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning to take us to port.
I can't wait to meet all of my new DIS friends! :flower3:

I'm taking a packing break to make a list of items still needed... I thought I had nearly everything, but I was wrong! ;)

Hello.
I hope packing is going well for everyone.
One week from today we will be on the Magic. I am so excited.
I feel awful for the people on this week's cruise with the hurricane. I cant imagine all the planning and then to find out you have a whole new itenarary.
Here is hoping for beautiful weather and smooth seas:worship:
I cannot wait to meet everyone and I hope everyone has a safe trip down to Florida.
I will be looking for green bracelets and I hope we can all meet up at Sailaway.
Here are some recent pics.

Welcome to the board Turk82. Better late than never. Can't wait to meet you and your guide dog, I think they are amazing animals.
We were supposed to be on this weeks cruise, but my sister-in-law could not get off work, so we postponed to our cruise on the 15th. My friend is on the cruise now, though. She flew down Friday morning and I called later that afternoon to let her know of the itinerary change. She said they would just spend more time on the ship instead of trying to rearrange all her excursions.
We are leaving on Friday at 3:30 out of Philadelphia, and are staying at the Radisson the night before. We should make it just in time to see the shuttle launch!!!

Greetings to all the new posters! It is wonderful to see how big this group has grown!
Yeah, we leave tomorrow morning at 6:00 am - we are packing like mad tonight, but have completed almost all of our bon voyage chores. I will look for the green bracelets on Deck 10...but so far my green barclets are still, 'put away somewhere safe for our trip'! We will be the party of 11 in the burnt orange shirts T's, that read World Tour 2008.
We also had shirts made for the MVMCP on the 14th - they have peppermint Mickey's on them - say hey if you see us! I cannot wait to meet you all!
See ya real soon!:yay:

Eek! Some of our DISers are leaving already!
We should probably set up something definite for the Sail Away Party! I think we originally thought the starboard side of Deck 10 overlooking the action would be a great place for our DIS meet.
Is this okay with everyone?

I've been packing & repacking and making lists and Yikes! I wanted to finish today. We're leaving Friday after school's out and the market is closed. We're staying in St Louis overnight as our flight leaves at 7:04 am.
Where do I get the green wristbands? Are they the stretchy kind? If not, I will try and improvise. Most of my time has been filled with designing door signs for our two traveling parties and packing. Luckily DH packs himself and the DS's are pretty much finished. It's all the carry-on, keep-the-kids-busy stuff that takes the most time.
Welcome turk! I, too, am a newbie to this thread & board. I only found it one week ago. I love guide dogs, actually animals, but the service ones hold a special place in my heart. At one point, I thought it would be nice to help train the puppies. I hope to meet you & Jolene and find out more about her.

Welcome Turk82! It will be very hard to keep my boys away from Jolene. They absoultely adore all animals, think they got that from Mom. I explained to Dillon in a restaurant recently why he could not pet the nice doggie as she was working and had to be ready to help her lady. He is not 4 yet but I think he understood and he waved to the dog instead and told me the dog was a very good doggie! Now Trevor is another story, he is 14 1/2 months old, and if he called Jolene, "Imba" it is because we have a Cat named Simba, and every animal is "Imba" right now!! Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else on the ship. The kids stuff is actually alredy packed. Have not begun on me and DH!
PS Deck 10 starboard sounds great and I am going to make one more attempt to get a response from Treva about a formal meet. I am SOOO sorry this has not materialized as of yet. Finger crossed!

Wow, you all are so sweet! I especially liked hearing about "Imba"! :-) Deck 10 starboard side it is! I so have to finish packing!!!! :-) I have already measured out 43 cups of dogfood! We leave first thing on Wednesday and are planning to spend that day at Epcot (arrive MCO 10:52am!!!). Thursday is supposedly at MK and Friday is still kinda up in the air (I was so crazy as to be thinking MVMCP that night, but now I'm just not sure that I have that much energy!!). I can't wait to meet you all!!!!!! SEE YOU SOON!!!

Well.............Treva got back to me.
They are holding
Studio Sea, Deck 4 Midship
but the only time they could give us is
Monday 11/17 from 5-6 PM
I realize that this will interfere with anyone who has early seating dinner and possibly with hair salon appointments, pictures, etc.
BUT...............I told her to go ahead and hold it for us and I am hoping most of us will be able to at least stop by and say hi coming or going?
No word if they are setting us up with any goodies or sending any officers, I will be contacting Jonathan in "Groups" upon boarding.
Sorry this didn't work out a buit better, but at least she did come through!

I wonder if we really have Studio Sea booked for Monday. I am going to call Treva tomorrow from Disney but will have no access to email. Sorry I did not get to meet all of you but it was great chatting with those of you we did get to meet.
Our Group Meet was kind of sad, almost nobody showed up, the time was awful. They did not send any officers, no coffee, not even water. But Dillon, Trevor, Patty, Rhiannon, Ainsley and Connor had a great time dancing for us at Studio Sea!!
We had late seating so every time somebody left a note on our door to "meet" it was way too late, sorry!
Dillon was sound alseep in the diningroom on Pirate Night and when all the hoopla woke him up he was petrified, hubby went up on deck for a bit and then we were fortunate enough to have a great view of the fireworks from our balcony.
I am soo upset, the reason I wanted to do the 1st night of the Fish Extenders was because I had bought Clothespins and put little notes on them for everyone to use to keep their towels and clothes on the lounge chairs. They would have come in handy except I left them at home on my bed!!!!
The kids got some GREAT little gifts, thank you all!
Hey Meghan, Dillon and Trevor loved meeting Jolene and I hope she wasn't too upset that trevor did indeed call her Imba!!
We need a vacation from vacation now! Happy Thanksgiving to all!:grouphug:

Hi everyone! Laura, I was saying to some of the others I met that I never met you or Audie! I was bummed about that. I met quite a few awesome DISers along the way. We had a great time on the cruise. I couldn't have been happier with the kids club. The kids absolutely loved it! They were crying the last night because they didn't want to leave. They are not in school this week for the holiday and they are "so bored" now that there isn't someone there to entertain them from sun up to sun down!
We joined the DVC while onboard and I am pretty uneducated about that. Not at all like me to jump into something without researching it for months before. So I guess I'll be lurking/learning on that board for a while. We are looking at booking our next cruise. DH and I can't agree on the 5 day bahamas with 2 stops to CC or the 7 day Eastern...............hmm we have 24 hours to decide!

Hi Everyone! We're home too! :wave2:
We had such a wonderful cruise and it was GREAT meeting so many DISers!!!
Christie, Les, and Tami (and totally awesome husbands) - you ROCK!!! I'm so glad that we were able to... *consume adult beverages*... together! :drinking1 You'll be part of my cruise memories forever... I'll never forget you!
Sue - I'm so glad I got to meet you! I have some wonderful pics to share with you of your daughter parasailing. I'll upload them to the web and send the link so you can order prints if you wish.
Audie - I'm so glad I was finally able to meet you during the last couple days of our cruise! You are so fun and I really enjoyed chatting (and parasailing) with you!
Dana - I really wish we could have hung out together more... we'll have to arrange to cruise together again! :)
Fish Extender Participants - You added soooo much to the cruise! My kiddos absolutely loved receiving all of the cool gifts! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Like Christie, we are new DVC members!!! I'm so excited! :cheer2:
If anyone is looking for a great deal on a great cruise, check our the April 2010 Transatlantic Repositioning Cruise. We are paying just a few hundred dollars more than we paid for this cruise (seriously)! We're moving down a category, but the cruise is twice as long so I'm willing to sacrifice! ;)

Here in Kansas City, we've had snow twice since we've been home. It's VERY odd as usually we can make it until late December/early January before our first snow. I have a feeling that this Winter is definitely going to be a crazy one!

I would absolutely love to have them, Audie!!! Thanks so much! :woohoo:
I don't see your email address here, send me a note at audielawley@gmail.com and I'll get your pics to ya!
Did you add on at BLT? We are planning our first trip 'home' in October, the week before our next Western cruise! I can't wait!!!
we added on at Animal Kingdom Lodge, so we now have points at Boardwalk & AKL. We love AKL, it's so relaxing. We hope to make it there in May when it officially opens, but we will see -- might want to take our little granddaughter to Disney for her first Christmas!

Audie, we live about four hours from Seattle and eight hours from Portland. My brother and family live in Seattle. We definitely miss you guys. We are having crazy cold temperatures here. The windchill is below zero. Pretty unusual for December.
Angie, I am still looking at cruises. Are you worried about hurricanes during October? I will be contacting Audie as soon as we figure out what we are going to do. Please send me those pics from Senor Frogs. DH thinks they belong in the scrapbook. Ha!
Merry Christmas everyone.

Oh yes we did get a nice snowfall. My kids were really happy to see the snow and some of the little neighbor kids had never seen it. It was dark by the time it started but all the neighborhood was out and the kids were all screaming. It was quite funny. All melted by morning except a dusting on the roofs.
Angie I can't believe you are taking the kids out for both trips next year. I am so jealous. I got my nastygram from the school informing me the kids had missed 5 days. Reminding me that if they missed 10% of the school days I was subject to prosecution under TX law. AND if the kids were over 10 years old they were also subject to prosecution. Geez, give me a break. They are good students. I guess they mean it, "don't mess with Texas"!!!!!!!
More new DVCers!!! We are members and love it, love it! We just bought more points...we figure with the grandbaby coming in Feb. we would need them! Christie, if you have questions, just ask! We just got 17 inches of snow in less than 24 hours. We had all schools cancelled today and tomorrow. So much for the Christmas programs and parties. Ashlyn doesn't seem to mind though. Even our banks and malls closed today. I wish I was back on the Magic!!:sad2:

When we arrived in/at Grand Cayman, we had to stay on the far side of the island.
Does anyone remember the name of the area/bay that we were in?
Thanks in advance.

We tendered into Spotts Bay, but we were bussed to George Town (where the Magic usually docks) to shop.
