We leave in 107 days, and I do NOT want to take "fat" pictures while I'm down in sunny Florida. Months of oversized winter sweaters and coats have hidden more than I thought!

I can't be the only one who uses their Disney plans as weight loss motivators, can I? How goes the battle? Any tips or tricks?

Oh my gosh!! Me, me, me!!! Everytime I go to the cupboard, I think....Disney in a few weeks...summer clothes....no fat rolls......new swimming suit...It has worked though. I am down 10 lbs since we booked our trip about a month ago:cool1: ....most of it was from getting a nasty virus and losing weight but hey....I've kept it off for 3 wks.

Good Luck!pixiedust: ( I have promised myself a few new summer outfits if I can lose at least 5-10 more.)

Thank goodness, someone else out there with the same mindset as me!! I thought the samething about having pictures taken of myself. I'm usually the one taking pictures so I have very few of myself. However, I know once we get there I'm going to want pictures of the whole family and what not so the pounds have to go! So far I've managed to shed 7lbs, but would love to loose 20 more before we go....we'll see! ;)

I'm so glad I'm not alone! No fat pictures, and no avoiding the pool (or wearing a silly tshirt over my suit) allowed on this trip! I've cut carbs, increased exercise (ever so slightly) and lost 7, but shamefully put 2 back on. I told dh: no more Mexican dinners out until we can have one in Epcot!

When we went to WDW in 2000 I looked great, and then in 2002 I looked...well, bigger. I've put pics from each trip on the fridge, as a reminder, and if that doesn't work, I think I'll hang my bathing suit on the cupboard doors. My poor kids.

Good luck, Disers! And know you're not alone. :hippie:

Count me in! We just booked our Oct '07 today and paid for it too. So it's time to get down to business! I've lost 5 pounds already, and Dh has lost 9, so we're on our way. I still have 40 to go, but whatever I lose before the trip is great with me. I really just don't want to feel self-conscious in a swimming suit. I want to feel like I'm in decent shape and really *enjoy* myself, ya know? I can't wait - I'm so excited!

Oh, I'm just exercising :yay: about 4x/week and eating a lot healther (though not perfect).

Count me in too!

My trip is coming up (see countdown ticker) & I've lost about 2-3 pounds.
I need to lose about another 7 or my summer clothes won't fit comfortably!!

DH & I started walking in the evenings, on the few warm days that we've had...but right now there is an inch of solid ice on the grass & pavement.
We're totally iced in!

Oh oh me me. We went on our first trip to DL in Dec '05 and when I look at those pics I just cringe. We just went again Feb'07 and I had lost 60 lbs in between because I wanted to be able to retake all my pictures again. We are heading to WDW and DCL Feb'08 and I want to loose the remaining 30 lbs. So Yeah I know what your talking about. I want the new cruise wardrobe for sure:thumbsup2

I look at my photos from last summer's trip and cringe! The dining plan is so worth it but my lord did I pack on the lbs!

I followed weight watchers to the letter this year and lost 22 pounds. We're doing the dining plan again so I'm thinking maybe I should try for another five before July just to have a comfortable buffer!

A couple of tips that have helped me...drink water, lots of water! I'm a late night snacker so I've tried to cut that out and it has helped too. Now I paint my nails while watching tv in the evenings and that keeps me from sticking my hand in the cookie jar.

Good luck to everyone, we can do it because we're worth it (and so are our vacations!)!

Funny how a NH winter can do that to a person!! Months of heavy baggy clothes and not much activity to speak of!:sad2: We don't have a 2007 trip planned but when we went last fall, it was indeed motivation enough to lose weight!! I joined eDiets on-line to keep me on track with what I eat (I tend to pick so it helped to have something to follow). Also, since my prep time was summer, I was able to get outside and I did lots of walking - 2 miles every day, which only takes 35 minutes at a good pace.

Just keep thinking about shorts, t-shirts, swimsuits, and all the photos that will happen on your trip! Go for it!!!!!:cool1:

I'm trying to toss some pounds in the waste (or would that be out of the waist :p) basket too in prep for the trip. I'm tired of toting around a spare tire around my waist line. I don't like putting on t-shirts and seeing my jelly roll. So far I've tried to eat less junky food, make sure I eat breakfast, and am trying to go for a walk 3 times a week. I only started this week, though. In hindsight, I probably should have started sooner. However, better late than never is what I am telling myself.

Hey, any chance of you sending me that nasty virus in the mail... :lmao:

That reminds me of a pact some friends and me made. I got mono in college and lost my freshman 15 and then some. I think I must have weighed 100 pounds by the time the virus had worked its way through my system. The pact we made was that if any of us got mono, we'd make sure to go and kiss each other to share the 'fun'.

Reality is we would never do such a thing, but in theory, it sounds just great :)

We could post every week.
Not our actual weight...but how much we lost.
Anyone up for something like that?

OK...We leave in 39 days and I would love to lose a little weight. Even 10 pounds would make me feel better. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who hates to see the "fat girl" in our family pictures. Somehow I just don't feel like I look! I'm counting on you guys to keep me motivated! :cheer2: Good luck everyone and enjoy your vacations...no matter what!:cool1:

daisyduck123 I think that is a great idea. I know I really need the support. Of the 60 lbs I've lost I put back on 10 in the past 4 months. I don't want to put on the other 50(I want to loose 30). So I think if we can keep each other motivated with this then lets give it a try.

This thread really hits home with me. When we returned from WDW last October I was shocked to see myself in the pictures. :( I really didn't know how big I had gotten until that moment. It was horrible. So the very next day after seeing those trip pictures I joined Weight Watchers. :) That was the first week of November (2006). Now... 21 weeks later... I've lost 40 pounds and I can't WAIT to take as many pictures in WDW as possible!!!! :rotfl: I'm going to be in EVERY PICTURE!!!!! :woohoo:

Now lets just hope I don't blow it by eating churros, turkey legs, and dole whips!!!! :rolleyes1 We're doing the Dining Plan so it is SCARY!!!! :scared:

If anyone wants advice I totally recommend Weight Watchers. After doing Nutrisystem, then Jenny Craig, then Atkins, then South Beach, this was the ONLY one that worked well for me. With the other programs I either quit after a few weeks, or lost a lot of weight and then gained it all back. Weight Watchers is REAL food for REAL life!!! :thumbsup2

What I meant to say was: 102 days till Disney (I haven't been dieting for 102 days...not yet!)

Ok, so I dropped 6 lbs right away, and nothing in the past week. Oh how I wish chips & wine were diet foods...I really like the idea of posting our progress weekly...Great Idea! I'm in, I could use that motivation.

Some of you folks are amazing! A round of applause for the person who lost 60 lbs! and for the poster who wants to lose 100 ...you go girl!!

If anyone's interested, you can go to the DIS W.I.S.H. forum - you gotta scroll way down on the main DIS page but it's there! You can keep a "journal" and chat with others who are in our same boat. It's a great way to stay motivated and also encourage others! They also post monthly exercise challenges, which I find to be a great way to keep my butt moving (literally...!!!!).

I know we can all loose the weight that we want. If I can do it anyone can. I have battled being overweight most of my adult life. Here is a picture of me from our first trip to DL in Dec'05 and then our second trip Feb '07 there is a 60 lb difference between the two pictures. I am hoping to loose another 30 before our first trip to WDW and DCL in Feb '08

Well, Here it goes.... On the day I turned 35, I said I am only going to keep gaining weight, cuz I wasn't dieting and not even caring what I ate... don't get me wrong I wanted to be skinny... However I just wanted to wake up that way...:sad2:

I joined WW the day after the 35th birthday and lost 74 pounds in 7 months
(no cheating at all) but worth it! ... down to a sweet size 4 maybe even alittle less... And I kept it off with no problem at all just always counting my points... However.... In the past year I have gone crazy.. popcorn:: I have gained back 30 pounds!!! Well My 39th birthday is on Monday and I guess I had better get back to WW... I do keep looking at my WDW pictures from 10/2005... I was nice and slender... And we are going back this September so I had better get going to WW, I want to see that skinny girl again .

All you Dis'ers are a motivation! And again, I would still take a stomach bug  and or some mono to get the ball rolling????? Anyone????

I am trying to lose weight for our Disney trip (it's an ongoing battle since the day I said "I DO"). I just don't want to be the "fat mom" in all the Disney pictures. :sad1: I am going to check out the W.I.S.H board, like suggested. It's so hard, but if we would just do it once (lose weight) and get it over with....it would be great!

Hey girlies! I couldn't help to be thrilled to stumble upon this thread. We have a mear 42 days until our Disney vacation. I was going through pictures from last year's trip and i've recently gained around 10 or so lbs. I look so happy and comfertable in the pictures of me, even the ones in a BIKINI! That's because i looked and felt great. Motivated to feel that way once again i've begun a better diet plan where i cut out almost all my carb intake. I only eat whole wheat carbs in small portions for my breakfast and lunch. Lately i've become a little obsessed with the poor condition of my body, so I also have continued to work out (4 times a week). I just hope to shed around 20 lbs in the next month and a half. Sounds crazy but this is comming from a girl who lost 8lbs in a week last year. I CAN DO IT!

I think having a support forum for this topic is a great idea!
Good luck ladies!

 I hit the first 10 lb. mark!! Hooray for me, but it has been soooo slow! I decided to eat WW meals...one for lunch, one for dinner. A protein drink and vitamins for breakfast...I will have a glass or two of wine with dh on Friday nights. On Sundays I let myself have the family food for lunch.

It sounds like a lot of you are exercising, too. I'm not doing that yet. I'm afraid of muscle weight gain, but if it EVER stops snowing and being so darned cold here, I'd like to get out and do some fast walking.

good luck to all!!:cheer2:

Well, DH bought us a bathroom scale yesterday.
I love it!!
It says I'm 4 pounds lighter than the scale at work does!! :cool1:
At work, a bunch of us teachers are doing "The Biggest Loser" (I am not winning that so far  ) & we weigh-in every Monday. Well, that scale says I'm 4 pounds heavier, but it might be because I'm fully dressed when I weigh-in there..shoes & all.

Last night, DH & I decided to weigh-in every few days, only in our undies!

DH decided he wants to lose 12 pounds by our trip.
I want to lose 6. With him now doing this with me, I'll be less likely to eat all the snacks around here.

Wish me luck!!

With the help of WW I am down 30lbs so far another 20 to go before Aug 27th. That is about 5lbs a month. Easter week has been tough but now that I booked my week at POP it is time to get back on track.

Good For you! I am turning 40 in 17 days, and I have been bemoaning the fact for the entire last year! It took me until Jan this year to decide that I wouldn't mind the big "4-0" if I could lose a little weight, get in shape and thus feel better about myself. Disney was that added lilttle push to lose the weight. I lilterally have to go minute by minute not to overeat/snack throughout the day! I have lost 16 lbs and bunches of inches!!!:cool1: I am so excited!! I am heading out to Victoria's Secret Friday to buy some new lingerie as a treat for myself!!!!:dance3: It's so exciting that most of my clothes are feeling baggy!

I am with you guys! I lost 5 lbs last month, and have decided that a good way to stay motivated and lose another 10 lbs is to take all the energy I had been using to plan my trip, and focus it toward being healthier!
So during my lunch break instead of spending extra time looking at disney sites, I stretch or go for a quick walk.
Instead of going out to lunch, I pack my own full of healthy food. Plus you save the money from going out to eat that you can use on your vacation!

keep up the good work!

Last year all the shorts that I had bought the previous summer were too tight and I needed shorts for the trip to WDW. I got really mad and decided that I was going to lose weight before the trip so that I didn't have to buy any more shorts. I lost probably around 20 lbs before that trip and now I've lost about 35 pounds. I eat fruit everytime that I want a snack and I eat a great big salad before we serve dinner, these things really help to keep my weight down.

I want to bust out and lose 40 pounds by September! (Or I might just BUST OUT of my clothes- ARGH!). Last time I went to WDW, I was about 150ish- on our honeymoon. Funny, I thought I was FAT then- now I'm like, 'DAA-NG! I wish I was that small!'

Me! Although I've only got 34 days left until we get there. But it's still motivation for me. Lots of fruits, veggies and loads of water. But I still can't wait. :cheer2: It's more motivation for me since we bumped up the trip than the nebulous date we had for December. I can't wait! Especially since I want to at least fit the capris I wore last year. I've put on 10 pounds since our trip last May. If biggest loser can drop 48 pounds in 6 weeks, I can drop um, 20 in 5, right?

I am in the same boat as you - 170 but used to be 150 (I'm 5'8"). I rejoined WW last week and lost 3 lbs in the first week. But I can't say I've changed my eating habits drastically - but I do exercise every night. I did give up my daily cup of chai tea (probably cut out 400 calories right there).

I lost 1 pound this week. 1. Ok,ok, to be honest I did drink a bottle of wine (it took a week, but still!) and I ate some potato chips. But when I think about how much I'm NOT eating, and how my habits have changed, I feel I should be at my goal by now.

1 pound. I knew it was going to be slow so the night before last I put on a pedometer and I'm walking more. I don't want to do aerobics, or join a gym or run, just a nice fast paced, uphill walk would be fine.

Until next Saturday...

Just remember though that it will really add up over time even if it is only a pound a week. I started last summer before our September WDW trip and I'm still losing a little bit each month so that I'm down 35 pounds now. I don't think of myself as dieting any longer just as eating healthier. I love wine also but I did find that totally cutting out wine in the beginning helped the weight to come off much quicker. Now I have occassional glasses on the weekends when I feel like it.

Thank you, lady hlh. I know you're right, and congratulations on 35lbs down! Good for you! I think I'll lay off the vino...I'd rather be thinner!

Slyjly: have you tried swimming? A friend of mine has bad arthritis, but she loves going to her local Y and doing swim exercises. Also I've been reading alot about the benefits of walking. You could get one of those little pedometers to attach to your shoe, and increase the number of steps you take each day. Good luck to you!!

mabenoab - I love the water, it's the only time I really am pain-free. I want to join a health club that has a pool, but I haven't really convinced myself that I would be dedicated enough to commit to signing a contract to one. My new manager has shuffled everyone's job around and I am now walking my whole shift. But it is just around the depts. straighting up and restocking so I don't know how much I will benifit from it. But I am really walking a lot more than I was. I usually use a cane outside of work so now I am using a shopping cart to help. We don't have a YMCA anywhere near where we live. I am really trying to increase my strength and stamina (sp?) My kids want to rent a evc while we are at Disney - I just used my cane last year - but I am hoping I won't need one when we go in Sept. Loosing weight is the real answer. So, I need all the luck I can get!

I did (last year)

Seriously, after my twins were born I managed to lose 30or so lbs. in the first year they were home, but I've had 10lbs left to lose for the last 4 years. No matter what I do, I can't get it off. I take off 3, 4, and 5 and then I just gain it back. I'm so bad.

This year DH and I made a pact that we would be in shape by our next trip in August and so far so good. I've lost 3...7 to go. DH has lost 12!!!!

It's super hard after you have kids, I will say that. In my early 20's, I could drop 5 lbs like nothing. My, have times changed.

Good luck to you! I'll bet that with the extra walking you'll see a difference! I just got a pedometer that I've attached to my shoe, and the booklet that came with it says my goal should be 10,000 steps a day. Thats a lot of steps, I've only made it one day, but I'm trying. I wish health clubs didn't require contracts too, but let you pay weekly or on an as you go basis. Its part of why I don't join one either!

I was even thinking of getting some blue or red Mickey heads from Home Depot and putting them on the wall- one for each extra pound I want off before the trip. Then I could pull them off, one by one, as the pounds go off!
AND I could look at them while using my elliptical machine as well as when I'm headed towards the kitchen ;)

How sad is THAT???

I say it is not sad at all and if it works for you go for it! I have 100 lbs to lose and I just turned 40 this past Jan in Disney with my whole family and boy in those pictures I look horrible. I am now trying really hard!! Changing the way I shop, cook and eat. Slow baby steps I guess. But we are going back in July when it is hot, hot, hot, and then back in Sept. So I really would love atleast to lose 60 lbs before my trips than work on the other 40 after that. My DH is also eating healthy and has already lost 12 lbs in a week and a half. I however think I have lost 4 lbs and one little binge it will be back in an afternoon!! But NO there will be no binging! Think Disney, think Disney! Good luck to everyone!!You can do it!!:yay: :yay: :yay:

In Jan I planned to lose 50lbs before my Aug trip. Any more than that is a bonus. I did not want to make my goal impossible. I am down 32. I have 4 months left to lose the rest. I think i can lose the rest by then. It is 4 1/2lbs a month. After disney then I have 50-60 till i reach my 40th bday. I have 10 more month to to that after the trip . Please let me do that.

Congratulations on being 32 lbs down! Thats wonderful. May I ask how you're doing this, are you on a specific diet plan?

Good luck with the rest of your weight. With your track record, I'm sure you'll meet your goal.

Personally, I've been stuck at this 11lb. weight loss for 2 weeks now. I'm so upset. I started walking 1/2 hour a day, fast walking up hill, and using light arm weights for high reps to tone the flabby arms. I'm eating only WW meals for lunch & dinner, avoiding snacks after 7, drinking so much water that I swish when I walk. Just keep telling myself to stick with it, and I'll see a huge flush of weight loss sooner or later...oh well...

I'm down 11.5 pounds now, and am on the last week of my gym's "Biggest Loser" competition. So I'm hoping to hit either 13 or 14 pounds by my final weigh-in!

Hey, I just thought I'd pass along what my trainer told me about plateaus. She said that your body will get used to what you're doing, and it will stop making progress. So two things you might want to try are: Take a day off from eating right. This will make your body think that it's no longer being starved, so it now won't mind letting go of some more fat. The other thing is to switch up your work-out. Try bicycling once or twice a week, or just any one thing that's different. It's like it's time to surprise your body and keep it guessing. Good luck!

Count me in!! I joined a gym in March and have been working out 3 or 4 times a week since. I have not noticed a significant loss in weight, but since I am doing a lot of weight training, I have noticed my body is more toned. No more flabby arms yeah! I am not dieting per se just trying to cut out snacks.I have tried dieting with WW and was successful about 4 years ago, lost 30 lbs. but have since gained every lb back:mad: I get really depressed with food deprivation. So I try to make my food choices healthier and drink tons of water. I want to look good for my July Disney trip, I am hoping to be able to wear tanks and shorts and feel comfortable.
We finally have nice weather! So it's out for some yard work today! That should sweat off a few!
Good Luck Everyone :wizard:

in the May 7th issue of First magazine:

Women who are peri or post menopausal lose more abdominal fat if they walk at a slow & steady pace for 45 minutes than if they walk for 20 minutes at a fast pace.

Listening to music (any kind at all) while walking helps women lose "double the testosterone induced belly fat" by reducing the amount of a stress induced hormone that leads to belly fat.

And, cooking with coconut oil (medium chain fatty acids) "has been proven to help women lose up to 40 lbs in a year." Be sure to look for "non-copra oil" and not copra oil..

I don't know if any of these tips work or not, but thought I'd share them.

Good luck to all, and Don't Give Up!

I will happily post weight lost each week. I think that will be another way to keep me accountable. Dh and I have been doing a Biggest Loser competition at my gym for the past 12 weeks, and it is going to be over this week, so I'm scared! I've lost about 12 pounds, and do NOT want to gain any back. I feel so much better than I did 3 months ago, and I still have 35 pounds to go. I know I can do it, and I'm starting to feel like I'm making some real lifestyle changes. And working out is becoming part of my routine!

So after my final weigh-in this week, I'll post my results, and will keep doing it myself each week after that!

Can I be counted in with you guys / gals?! We came back from the World a week ago today and as everyone else has said - I hated the way I looked in the photos! Why is it that you never really realize how big you look until you see a photo?! Hoping to be going back for my anniversary in 4 months and would love to drop 15-20lbs.! I'm a former WW lifetime member so I know that it works. I used to work out 3 x a week with a friend, but she had a baby recently and has been busy taking care of him so I've been slacking off but really want to kick it in gear for this trip.

Welcome DT83097! I agree with you about the pictures, I'll actually go along thinking I look mahvelous until I get the photos back, and then I'm thinking...empire waist tunic tops do nothing for me! Look at those arms!! ick.

So join on in, and good luck. Whats really great for you is that you'll have some good "Before" pics from this last trip, and some nice "After" pics for your anniversary trip.

As for me, I finally bust my plateau!! 3 weeks at one number and I was about ready to toss that scale through the window. I tried going off the diet for a day, but that didn't help, tried mixing up my exercise, that didn't do anything...my gosh, if I was in maintenance phase I bet I couldn't keep my weight that steady! So I finally changed the diet from WW to low-carb...Atkins...and we'll see if I'm on a roll, or if I'll just hold steady for another few weeks. Either way, Today I'm happy!

this is a great thread! I also have used my vacation to WDW as one of my motivating factors to lose weight. I am happy to say I lost 15 pounds since my last trip in oct. (my metabolism is super super slow i had a partial thyroidectomy about a year ago) I leave this sat morning and im hoping the scale says 129 (my goal was to be under 130 before i left). I will continue to use this thread and post my weight weekly until my trip to las vegas (last weekend in june my ulitmate goal of 125 pds)

I read what some of you wrote about pictures..last oct when i went my boyfriend took a shot of me in japan at epcot i look sooo fat in that picture..i told him this trip im going to go by that same spot and take a "after" shot! :goodvibes

some things that def helped me to lose weight was writing down what i ate, I also did zone chefs for the past month (based on the zone diet they deliver food to your home) and i did turbo jam and the firm dvd workouts religiously!! i can actually say im addicted to working out now.

i have to say im a little nervous about my upcoming trip this week to WDW..i have been doing excellent with diet and exercise and WDW is not exactly the best place to exercise good eating habits!!! but im going to try and do my best.

everyone stick with it!! you can do it!!!!

That being said, I think the last time I saw less than 130 was when I was about 16...yikes! Good luck with your goal, I really hope you bust that 130! and don't worry about gaining on WDW...if you're selective you're bound to walk off any extra intake. Are you staying where they have a fitness center?

We're staying at the Poly and they don't have a workout center either. The Beach Club looks beautiful, AND you'll be within walking distance to Epcot. How nice! Thanks for the tip on "O", I have seen La Nouba, so it would be fun to see O...and yes! I saw the bellagio fountains on the Travel Channel, and its on my list of must see things. You guys are inspiring! Can I join? We leave for our WDW trip in 104 days! To get to my ideal weight I need to lose 33.5 lbs. I started last week and have dropped 5.5 lbs so far.

Every year when we get home and I look at those dreaded pictures, I groan. I always tell my DS we can't go back to WDW until I lose some weight. And every year we go with no weight loss. This year we are going with my sister and her DS. And she has just dropped 15 lbs and looks good.

I really need to get this weight off. I am so unhappy with myself. I currently weigh 2 pounds less than I did the day before I delivered my DS 9 years ago! And there is no 9 lb baby this time! The thing is I had gotten all the baby weight off and then in the last 4 or 5 years, I have been steadily putting it all back on. I don't have time to go to WW meetings so maybe if I have to post my weight loss each week, it will give me that extra motivation.

WELCOME!! I just joined this thread recently myself! I love it! Congratulations on dropping 5.5 pounds that Great!!
I dont go to WW but there are certain tips that have helped me lose weight.
1. Weight yourself once and ONLY once a week!!! at the same time of the week as well! It will give you the biggest indication of how you are doing! plus if you want you can post it on the thread! Some people weigh themselves everyday but i find for myself once a week is the biggest indication of my progress.
2. Write everything down in a journal...Yes that piece of gum counts or that bite of spaghetti you may of eaten standing up!! it all counts..if you are honest about everything you eat you will start to see patterns. for example with me i would always get ravenous around the 20th to the 25th day of the mth i realized i was pmsing :scared1: because of the food journal i realized why i was overeating at that particular time and made corrections to help me get through that time of the month
3. if you cheat!!! dont kill yourself over it!!! dont go on a binge for the entire day because you ate a couple of extra cookies...get right back into good habits the following meal..not the following day or the My personal favorite "ill start monday!" i was infamous for starting monday
4. Workout!!!! Consistently! start out slow dont kill yourself ...if you cant make it to the gym get at home dvd workouts i love turbo jam and the firm they are motivating and never boring!
5. WATER WATER WATER
6. Go ahead have that piece of cake...dont deny yourself eat what you want but in moderation nothing is off limits...i find im less likely to binge when i allow myself "BAD FOODS" i come to realize no food is BAD as long as you limit the amount you eat!
7.My mom taught me this quote but i like it when I have the urge to binge
"NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS!!!!"

at one point in my life i thought i could never lose the weight and i was unhappy with myself also..I had half my thyroid taken out and my metabolism was non existent...since i started my habits above i lost 15 pounds...

GOOD LUCK!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!! any questions feel free to ask...i love talking about this stuff

Hi, I was just wondering when we post our weight losses (I'm thinking positive:banana: ) for the week on this thread? I don't post much, but I have been keeping track of everyone's successes and I hope that keeps me motivated!:) I've been having a pretty good week - so far:rotfl:

LMO429 - thanks for the helpful hints. I really have to get better with the water. My office is so cold, the last thing I want is water. I am also the queen of "I'll start Monday". I am really going to do it this time. I have to, I refuse to buy bigger sizes and if I keep going up and up, pretty soon I won't have anything to wear!

Congrats on your 15lbs! That must feel good!

Crystal Light is a good substitute for water "SOMETIMES"..they even make single versions for a bottle of water.

I was the same way as you with my clothes, at my breaking point i refused to buy bigger sizes..I would wear the pants open with a big shirt over them.:scared1: Now i can get those same pants on while its buttoned and zipper... they go right on! (i think im going to actually throw them out for good!!! )

You will do it this time! You sound determined! once you make up your mind there is no stoppig u

I'm with you all! I have lost 5.5 pounds since making our reservations. I am SO excited about this trip, that I have been able to combat some of my emotional eating with the trip excitement. "Who cares if I had a bad day at work? My job is our 'ticket' to WDW!" I have greatly reduced my senseless snacking at night with much success & increased my fruit & veggie consumption. I even bought a Mickey Mouse watch to remind myself to eat & spend wisely!

I am also increasing my exercise from sporadic to faithful. I remind myself I want the energy level to zip through Disney. Wouldn't it be great to walk the exercise trails & walk miles in the park!? This is awful to admit, but I take my son to Sunday school with my dog in the car. Then once I have him signed in, I skip church and walk my dog for an hour! I'm just one of those people who find God outdoors, so I am out there! I joined a Pilates class once a week (a neighbor coaxed me along & got us a great class rate) and then I dusted off my gym membership and actually started going! I figured at the very least, I was paying for it, so I might as well kill some of my 5 months waiting for my trip at the gym!

I'm hoping to lose about 24 pounds. I could lose more, but this is a realistic goal in the timeframe. I've divided my big goal into 5 pound increments. Although I haven't tied a 'reward' into each goal, I did promise myself a massage when I hit Goal #3.

My biggest concern is the DDP. I am not a big eater, so I will have to steel myself to just nibble or share the CS and TS meals. I mainly got the DDP so we wouldn't be watching our food costs in the parks like fiends... But I want my changes to be permanent so I can maintain my weight at a healthy level.

Good luck to all of you! :yay:

Disney is such a great motivator, isn't it? But I like the idea of permanent lifestyle change especially. I know I don't want to be doing this every trip!

C Leen & MTN568: Listen to LMO429: she knows what she's talking about...she just met her goal. I really like those 7 tips, too, especially the one about journaling. On the W.I.S.H. boards is a place to write daily (or so) journals of your eating/exercise habits. Its wonderfully supportive over there, and I have to say that public journaling is really helpful to me...if I'm the only one who sees my journal, then I will "forget" to put things down. The W.I.S.H boards are great.

LMO429, omigosh you could be counting down to your trip in hours, couldn't you? Lucky! I like what you said about wanting time to go fast before the trip, then we want it go so slow during our vacation: now that would be some Disney magic!! You'll do great, I know you will! Please come back on when you get back and tell us how you did...then you have about a month? before Vegas? Anything you put back on, you can take off...we'll be here!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Yes we are leaving in about 23 hours!!! I just sent my boyfriend a text saying just that and he wrote back that I have officially lost it!! :rotfl: As much as he hates to admit it he loves it there 2! He admitted yesterday that he is EXCITED about going! FINALLY!!! I still cant believe I convinced him to go back! We were just there in Oct. Im so fortunate that he is so good to me!

Im glad you like my seven tips! I just turned 32, after years of yo yo dieting I feel like I finally got a hold on things! I def had some low points and I still want to lose more weight before I go to Vegas but I can finally say I am content with myself. Like I said before if i can do it anyone can do it! My metabolism along with my thyroid were literally taken out of my body. I thought I would never ever lose weight. so everyone be positive!!! and more importantly BE CONSISTENT!!!!

I will def write back here when I get back from the world!!! Ill let you know how i did with my eating! because I am a little worried about it. Hopefully i will keep the mickey head ice creams to a minimum this time!!!...;) i am not working out when i go there afterall i am on VACATION! :goodvibes and i figured i will have enough exercise walking around the park and walking up steps at the water parks.

thank you everyone again! I love this thread!! everyone keep up the good work

Congrats to everyone who is meeting their goal or losing steadily! :cool1: You are all very inspirational and motivating.

I rejoined WW (I'm a lifetime member) and the weeks that I went, I lost weight. The weeks I skipped, I either maintained or gained. I'm not a great WW follower - I don't journal and I don't do great counting the flex plan points. But I have cut out late night snacking and I've really stepped up my exercising. Now I don't just pay the monthly bill for the Y - I actually go :). I've also cut out my daily cup of chai tea (the fattening kind) and limit it to once a week. I'm drinking more water. Now that warmer weather is here, we're grilling out a lot more as well.

I'm down 6 lbs and my goal is 14 more.

OK, so I totally need this thread!! I have been trying to lose weight for awhile and I never thought of using my Disney trip as motivator until I came across this thread! So thanks you!! DH and I are going for a "2nd Honeymoon" in Sept, and I would LOVE to be down 30lbs by then. Feisable? I hope so! How about starting a weekly weigh in to keep track of how much we are losing? That would be a motivator for me, I wouldnt want to be the only one gaining!

We (just DH and I) are going in October!

I have already lost over 30 lbs.  HOpefully I can lose about 20 more before we go!

I agree with a PP, moderation is key! if you want something, EAT IT! But only eat 2 or 3 bites -- then get on with life!

Good luck to all!

donnajean: We are such neighbors!!!! I grew up in & around Manchester! Welcome to the thread!

Ms. Heimlich: Congratulations on a 30lb weight loss!!   with that kind of track record, its no doubt at all that you'll lose the 20lbs you want. Of course, won't you need a whole new wardrobe? Yay!

You go, GC&S! You're off to a great start, and 14lbs should come off pretty quickly! What is it about those chai teas that are so fattening!?! I blame them for 10lbs of what I'm trying to lose.

If you all haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend the W.I.S.H. boards.there are threads there for any kind of diet you could be on, lots of good ideas. There's a place for journaling what you eat, and I'll say that the people on there are so motivating and supportive. check it out if you haven't already.

Good luck to all!!

As if going to WDW and not wanting to be the "fat girl" in all the photos wasn't motovation enough, my DH said if I lose 30lbs by Aug 15th (we leave Sept 22) I can buy a new wardrobe to wear on vacation!!! I have been bugging him to motavate me to lose the weight, since I have no will power to do it on my own, so today is day one!Yea!

Just wanted to say congratulations to everyone!! It really helps to share the process with others.

I went back to WW yesterday and did the big weigh in....I have 16 pounds
to lose to get to my goal, and 17 weeks until our 2nd honeymoon in WDW! One tiny pound per week - I can totally do that! I also started back at my gym (weight training during my lunch hours) and am vowing to put in another 2 nights a week on the treadmill at home. Hoping to sport some before / after photos then! Good Luck to everyone here.

Hi everyone-

I hope you do check out the WISH board. I found it and really find a lot of helpful tips and motivators.

Keep up the good meal and snack choices! As the weather improves, get out and walk everyone! Pretend you are on Main Street at MK for rope drop! We need to build stamina!

I was so happy to see this thread. Every picture I have at WDW is of my silly fat self. Hopefully NOT this next trip. DH is also a great motivator. He doesn't like his pictures either, so he and I joined WW together a couple of weeks ago. He lost 7 lbs the first week and I lost 3. Haven't weighed in this week yet, but I feel optimistic. My tight clothes are thankfully already loosening up. Would LOVE to lose 60 lbs, but will be happy with "at least" 30 by our trip. Wishful thinking anyhow.

Whoever mentioned the Crystal Light, I am going to try that. I really am lax on drinking the water. :sad2:

I look forward to hearing all your successes. :thumbsup2

This thread made me realize that I was not alone!!!! My trip was a great motivator! I booked in February for a May trip. I leave in 21 days. 10 pounds and counting! For me it was cut out late night snacking, drink more water, actually eat breakfast and no alcohol. Then WALK everyday. On bad days, I use my treadmill if I can't be outside. I live in the mountains, so tromping through the forest is my favorite! Yesterday up behind my house, I saw a bear :scared1: I walked a little faster...:rotfl: Best of luck to everyone!

Kara: You've still got 5 months! Plenty of time to make a big change. Check out the W.I.S.H. boards for lots of diet & exercise plans and support. I found that journalling really helped me (and I NEVER thought it would!) but having to publicly admit to what I've eaten is a great motivator to not snack or cheat (for me).

Good luck!!

We usually go to vegas once a year. My "fiance" :goodvibes likes to play in the world series of poker. Def check at "O" at the bellagio it is my favorite show in Vegas. def get your tixx before you leave it will be nearly impossible to get them at the door. We saw danny gans last year as well i didnt think it was going to be for us but it was really really good as well.. This year we are going to see "LOVE" at the mirage it is the newest cirque show on the strip i cant wait to see it!!! as far as restaurants there are so many ...some that we ate at that were really good that i remember was ONDA at the Mirage...The mixx on top of the mandalay bay (gorgeous view) and SHibuya at the MGM grand.. Clubs are awesome there as well Pure is great at caesars...tao at the venetian jet at the mirage and rehab is a huge pool part at the hard rock hotel every sunday...

Just to give a mini review on disney restaurants...we ate at the california grill..it was excellent but they def do not uphold the dress code. My boyfriend and I went there a little dressed up and I was a little bummed that people were in flip flops and shorts..not that i care what people wear but "I would of wore the same types of stuff as well :goodvibes " I was jealous that i had shoes on that were killing me when i could of been wearing my flip flops...so my point is if you go unless you want to you def do not need to get all dolled up!

We went to the HDDR. I know people rave about this show. The food was good but WE LEFT it def was not for us. After the one girl on stage started laughing for 5 minutes straight we had enough! everyone is entitled to their opinion on this show we def did not like it.

we ate at l'cellier It was also excellent. BUT they bring the food at so fast!!!! i know its disney and you are not going to be able to sit for 3 hours at dinner but my boyfriend and i were in the middle of eating our appetizers and then brought out dinner...we told them to bring it back and they were happy to do so. after that we learned to order appt. first and then dinner if we were not in a rush.

we ate at the brown derby sci fi rose and crown san angel inn spoodles espn zone liberty tree tavern cape may cafe WOW!!! im surprised i only gained 2 pounds this trip!!!! lol :lmao:

anyway this is way to long!! lol I weighed myself this morning and the 2 pounds are gone already!!!!!!! and i have only been back 2 days!!!

Hey everyone!! I'm new to this thread so here's my story. I have fought being overweight for most of my life. DH and I visited the world with another couple last September and I was able to lose 30 pounds before our trip by following the weight watchers plan on my own and I have stayed at that weight since then. We have booked another trip for this September and I am trying to lose another 30 to be around my goal weight. I recently joined WW online and after reading the posts in here, I am more motivated than ever that I can do this. It definately makes a difference when you can see that there are other people out there who are trying to reach the same goals you are and you can use each other for strength and motivation on your journey to getting there. I am going to weigh in on Friday mornings(before the weekend hits) and I'll post my changes on here. Thank you to everyone so far for all the encouragement you are sharing with everyone throughout this thread!!!:yay:

Yep, I had a baby 6 months ago & have never lost the weight. We are going to WDW in September & I have vowed to lose the remaining 50 pounds I have to lose. It's not easy, but it'll be well worth it to feel more energized and look better. There's still lots of time...just aim for healthy eating & regular exercise. Drink lots of water :)

Hey

So i weighed myself this week I didnt lose any weight this week But i didnt gain either. I leave for my vegas trip in 30 days!!! I would love to lose 5 pounds before I go. I had one day this week where I def cheated BAD!!!! I was a little stressed out from looking and trying to decide on a place to have my wedding at and on top of that im seriously pmsing.. But on the bright side usually when i have a bad day it turns into 2 or 3 bad days...the following morning i woke up worked out and ate super clean. so im not totally killing myself over it. It still hard for me but im working on killing "the all or none attitude" it def taking me some time.

I did a new firm dvd yesterday it was great and really challenging..It was called Maximum Boot Camp ...It has cardio and weights and I def broke a sweat!!!! check it out.

good luck with your September trip goals..You can do it!!! but set realistic healthy goals one to two pounds a week should be the max you should aim to lose anything else is unhealthy and you will most likely gain it back...

So frustrating isnt it....I hate when my fiancee and I diet and he loses weight so much faster than I do...It just because men have more muscle than woman do and muscle burns fat...

do some strength training it speeds the weight lose process..try workout dvds like The Firm or Core Secrets

HI, I just found this thread, and it is great! I need to lose about 10 pounds before our trip in July. I did WW at work all last school year and lost 45 pounds. I need to lose about 20 more overall to be at my personal goal, but There is no way I will make that by July 15!! I am not even sure 10 is realistic, but I am sure going to try. I have already bought 3 pairs of shorts that are too snug, so I have to lose th weight:rotfl2:

Hey everybody!! Everyone's doing so great, I'm so impressed!! We leave in just 30 days, and my original goal was 27 lbs. I keep losing a few lbs, then hit a plateau, lose a few more, hit a plateau. Its been really frustrating, but I haven't given up. Added exercise to the mix, and changed the diet from WW pts. to Atkins. My body just wants to keep this fat! But I'm down 16, and while I doubt I'll lose 11 lbs in 30 days, I'm happier than I was. Any suggestions for how to bust a plateau?

Hi everyone!

I'm impressed with everyone's weight loss & patience with plateaus.

I'm down 12 pounds, 12 to go for my Sept. WDW trip. :) Although I am on my second plateau, today I am wearing a skirt I haven't worn in 2 years! So I try to cheer myself up with motivators like that when the scale isn't complying...

Keep up the good eating!

I just found this thread & I'm trying to lose 20lbs by our trip Aug 31st. I've lost 11.5. 8.5 more to go. I've just got to keep my motivation up.

To mabenoab: I've found if you eat more on one day & less on another & do the same with exercise, kick your butt one day & take it easier the next, you tend to get off the plateau. Assuming of course you are having a physical plateau & not a motivation plateau (like I'm currently experiencing:mad: )

Good luck to everyone! Less weight on our tender feet is gonna be a really good thing!

Mind if I join in? We are not going back until September 2010 so that is my long term goal. I also hated the way I looked in my pictures when we got back after this past trip.

I would like to lose at least 60 pounds but each year it gets harder and harder. I do the low carb thing and do so well and then we go off and I gain it all back.

We just bought a treadmill last week so I am walking on it for an hour every night. My husband is going to enlarge some of our trip photos of the castle and stuff and hang them on the wall as motivation as I am walking. We also put a tv with a DVD player in there and all I watch on it is my Disney Parks DVD's. I want to look completely different when we go back.

Thanks for the input, esterhead! I think you're absolutely right...when I have a day when I have a little (note: little) something I don't usually, I do notice a break. Someone else had mentioned that eating too little can actually impede weight loss...though I have to admit finding that hard to believe! :goodvibes

Some things I found helpful when my motivation started to wane: have someone take a candid photo of you...this works for me every time! or post a picture of a bathing suit on the fridge...or take an outfit that no longer fits out of the back of the closet, and hang it on the door so you have to look at it. Good luck to you all...just keep at it, and the weight will ***e off!!

I started my diet (calories) about 5 1/2 weeks ago. I'm happy to report that I lost 15 lbs! I wanted to lose 10, and then have 5 as a cushion for DDP. Now I can eat my way through Disney!

Of course I may have to go back to eating out of a box (Lean Cuisine) when we go home but it will be soooooo worth it!

Okay, I want to join you guys! Our trip is in September and I want to lose 25 lbs. before I go. I've been going to the gym 3 times per week doing cardio and weights each time but I haven't changed my eating habits so I've only really maintained being a size 10. I just ordered Nutrisystems but it wont get here until next week. My question is, if I do lose a fair amount of weight before we go, will I gain a fair amount back doing the DDP while we're there? We'll be there 10 days.

Mrs Grumpy: I love your idea of putting up WDW photos by the treadmill...thats motivating! And not only will you lose weight, but you'll also be building your walking endurance for your next trip! :woohoo:

DisneyMomx7...Way to go!! 15lbs down...You are doing so great! LOL!! about your -5 buffer so you can eat your way through Disney...that is too funny, but enjoy every bite!

luvmyhusband (love your screenname!): That is exactly why we didn't opt for the DDP, I knew if I had the meals coming to me, I wouldn't miss even one appetizer or one desert. Good luck to you!

You all are so motivating and inspiring! We leave in 6 days for our trip, and even though I didn't exactly meet my weight goal, the new diet combined with my workouts have made me a much smaller woman! I'm fitting in clothes I haven't worn in 2 years, and I know I'll be able to keep up with my kids next week. These boards, and the Journal boards in the Community forums have been so inspiring and supportive. Good luck to all!!

Help! You guys have been so motivating to me, I've lost and kept off 10 lbs so far this summer. Our trip is the last week of August,, how do I get my boyfriend to start walking or working out with me until then?
He is not the kind that goes out of his way to exercise usually, and I just know that all the walking at Disney is going to kill him,,,plus if he did lose a little weight I know he'd feel so good about himself.

Thanks! And keep up the good work! :grouphug:

Hmmm...You cant force someone to want to make healthy decisions...they have to want to do it for themselves...just invite him everytime you go but dont force him to do anything or he will rebel.

What sports does he like? Maybe if he likes baseball you could co outside and have a catch...Or ride your bikes together that may be more appealing to your boyfriend than just walking.

I'm now at my WW 'goal weight' and going to WDW in a week's time...the trick will be not to put any back on!!! I think I might buy some scales from Walmart to keep track - lol!! When we went to Orlando 2 years ago I found it quite hard to eat the amount of fruit/veg that I do at home...and with a carb mad DH and fussy DS it wasn't easy! BUT I'm determined to stay the same!!! Tips on healthy places to eat would be appreciated!!:coffee:

Congrats on making the WW goal!!! and determining to stay the same!!! As far as healthy places to eat....I would eat anywhere and eat what you want! after all you are on VACATION..you should enjoy it!!! Just eat in moderation. Have some bad stuff here and there and maybe try to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch and maybe splurge a little at dinner..considering you are following ww it should be easy just add the points up in your head.

Personally I worked out and dieted hard core before I went on my trip to WDW...I was worried about eating bad and gaining weight while I was there..To be honest with you the first 3 days I was super strict...I ate what I wanted but smaller portions..the next 4 days I ate pretty much till I couldnt take it anymore and when was all said and done I gained 4 pounds that week..but the second i got on the plane home i got right back on track with eating healthy and after a full week of being home and dieting and exercising right the 4 pounds were gone!!!

so enjoy yourself...eat in moderation...maybe if you are going to have dessert somewhere split it with someone..or split your entrees for that matter most places at disney the portions are rather big anyway.

ENJOY!

Yup, when I'm stuck I bump up the aerobic activity & the weight training. Then I count calories(points) seriously so I can eat a little two days in a row and then a lot more every third day. This has always worked to pop me out of a stuck stretch. The body is so efficient it will get used to a pattern and then stop giving up the fat. So you have to surprise it.

Hey! Thanks for checking in on me!! We did go, and it was awesome!!! I didn't quite hit my goal before leaving, but I'd started working out with weights, so I know I was smaller than I would have been otherwise. We all had such a great time, and I can't wait till we go back. Dh has decided that for our 22nd anniversary in October that we need to go down as just a couple. We're going to stay at the Dolphin this time...never been there, and want to be right smack between Epcot and MGM.

Only gained two lbs. on our trip, but haven't been able to shed them since being home two weeks. Its like I opened the floodgates on my eating, but I'm slamming them shut tonight! Only have 4 weeks till my Vegas trip with dmom & 2 sisters, and I just ordered my first 2 piece in 7 years. Hey, it won't look perfect, but its still one heckuva lot better than it was!!

Did you have a great time in Vegas, too?? Tell me about it!

I'm the same way as soon as I get back from Disney I want to plan another trip..Great idea to go back in Oct...My fiancee and I went there last Oct and it was Perfect!! I had the same problem after I got back from Vegas...Def try to nip it in the bud if anything lets yourself enjoy this weekend! and start monday!!!...Trust me I gained 5 pounds after vegas because I had like 2 of non stop bbq, eating and drinking!!.. My face was so poofy i looked like a marshmellow.

Glad you had an awesome time at WDW! I'm the same way as soon as I get back from Disney I want to plan another trip..Great idea to go back in Oct...My fiancee and I went there last Oct and it was Perfect!! Thanks so much! I've PM'd my email address to you because I would love to see your pictures! It sounds like you had a wonderful time. Mandalay Bay looks beautiful too. We're staying at the Excalibur (its where my Mom & Dad used to stay when they used to go together)..and I'll send pics when we get back. This is a celebration trip: mom just finished 16 weeks of chemo, and its her break before radiation starts, so she deserves a fun time with all her daughters.

LOL! about those floodgates opening after vacations. I'm glad I'm not the only one. But I'm on the wagon today, and starting my journals online up again too. Its like confession and keeps me honest: no way do I want to post that I ate an entire package of Pop Tarts!! I'm sure you're back to your fitness ways again now. When's your next trip?

Thanks for all the support!! :goodvibes

After losing a huge amount of weight a couple of years ago I had went into a holding pattern but made a new start the beginning of the year and have had a loss each and every month of this year, so far. Not a huge loss, only 15 pounds so far and I would like to lose another 5 before we leave for our September trip.

I hope to lose another ten before the end of the year. Tough with all the FREE?? food we will be eating and for so long (24 days) but I take my scales with me to keep me 'honest'.

Anyone for a walk around WS??:)

Just had to pop on & say that DH & I killed two birds with one stone tonight. We ran a 5k together (his first, my first post-baby) which will help our weight loss, and it also was a nice Disney trial run to see how energetic we are. So we warmed up about a mile, then ran 3.1, then changed & walked leisurely 1/2 mile to a jazz festival & then 1/2 mile back to the car. I thought it was fairly comprable & we both feel pretty good tonight.

I'll tell ya'll if I lost anything when I weigh in on Monday. I'm down 14 since March.

Guess that is important, eh? We leave Aug 31st & my goal weight is 144. I'm at 152 right now so that is 6 weeks & 8 lbs which I probably won't be quite able to make. But if I get to 146 (1lb per week) I'll be thrilled. I also have a new goal of running 5 miles before we leave. That way I know I'll have the stamina for 3 kids & 2 strollers & just DH and me for 10 days in the World.:scared1:

DH also has a strict weight lifting program in place for himself & I've been informed  that I will be starting with him. My first session was Thursday night and my abs are STILL killing me. I had a belly laugh earlier today and thought I may die. It looked kind of like this: :lmao: :headache: :lmao: :headache: :lmao: cause it was really funny & I just couldn't stop laughing but it was very painful.

But anything for a happy Disney trip, right?:yay:

I think in 6 weeks esp if you do the weights you should be able to lose the 8lbs!!! If anything take your measurements esp because you are staring to workout with weights...the scale may not say that you lost 8lbs but the measurements will say a completely different story!!

That happens to me after i do abs also!! :goodvibes

If you are into doing weights try The Firm dvds..i just got the new ones and they are AWESOME!!!!

estherhead, you and I must be twins. I sort of weigh 152 also, at least my left leg does.

Since I started out at nearly 350 a couple of years ago I try to be happy about how far I have come. (90 plus pounds, might make the magic 100 before we leave)

I congratulate you on being smart enough to take care of yourself before it becomes a big problem and I bet you will make your goal and if you do not all that walking at DW should take care of it. Even I lose weight there.

Hi!!

Just posting to keep myself in check!...I FINALLY got back in the groove with working out after my slippery slope of eating to many hamburgers and beers after my trip to Vegas!! Thank Godness!! I was starting to worry for awhile there...

Anyway I have been pretty clean with my eating habits for about 10 days now! (except for the 2 slices of pizza i ate sat night at 3 a.m.) but whatever I messed up so i just moved on (the old me would of ate the whole pie) and made sure I worked it off sunday!!

This thread is great its keeping me in check with my ultimate Disney Goal for Next May...

Maybe we can all start posting our daily workouts and good eating habits on here until we leave for Disney?????

I know a couple of you are leaving in Sept for WDW...How is it going so far????

Hi!

Good for you getting back on track after vacation. Thats so hard for me, too. My dh & I are going back in October for our 22nd anniversary...just him & me and the Food & Wine Festival. Yee hah!

I've got my eating pretty much back on track...I was seduced yesterday by 3 crab rangoons for breakfast (!), but hey, we all fall down. I compensated with a new, extra exercise routine in the late evening, so its all good.

I had to go to a funeral out of town and anytime I have to be near my family, where I learned my bad habits from, I always gain weight. I was so good, not one thing that is not on my diet and I was under points every day.

They are copious amounts of gravy and biscuits while I merely salivated.

I came home, got on the scales and I was up.8#. Not fair, not fair at all! If weight loss were a logical progression we could do this. If, if, if!!!!!:confused3

If only I were a tad bit overweight and could lose a mere ten pounds or so to cover my indulges at DW it would truly be a 'Magical Place". Wonder if the Dream Team could do me a flavor, I mean favor.

MickeynMinnie, welcome but stay clear of me. Recent news says that fat is catching and you had best stick around the ones who are smaller than I. Of course if you should ever need a transplant I am here for you.

I can't be the only one who uses their Disney plans as weight loss motivators, can I? How goes the battle? Any tips or tricks?

Funny I ran across this the day after we returned.

Let me just say that I hit the treadmill today for my next Disney trip.

Why? Because...

1.) We had the DDP which was way too much food.
2.) We like to go to the pool and I don't want my kids or spouse to see me as I saw some others.

I am not trying to pick on anyone, but seeing others who are definitely way out of shape has me motivated already for the next vacation.

Good luck to all those working it off.

a Really Bad Egg, I hear you. I lost 4 pounds on my last Free Dining trip though. I would like to match that or better this trip.

Unfortunately those of us who really need to lose the weight also need the exercise and we just do not look pretty in the swimsuits or jogging clothes, yet. :)

I am still in the 'environmental impact statement' phase in that I have to file one before even putting on a swimsuit though.

I am proud of the ladies, and men, who are brave enough to live life to the fullest rather than waiting until they are perfect but maybe not the ones who want to wear thongs and other very inappropriate attire. :goodvibes

Best wishes on getting back into the shape you want for your next trip. I only have a few weeks in between mine so I am in deep doo doo.

I lost another 2 pounds this past 2 weeks! Yeah. Now only 8 more to go. I also got my body fat percentage done & I have 3 percent to go before I'm in the acceptable zone. So I started pumping iron today. Boy do my arms hurt. I'm surprised I can type. Ha! 4 more weeks till Disney. I know I can lose at least 4 more lbs. Maybe I'll lose the last 4 while I'm there!

As for the bikini, I just had a baby 5 months ago. No bikini for me right now. Yikes!

Thanks! She's a super cutie.

I wore a two piece (the top was a bra type but the bottoms came almost to my belly button) 3 years after my last baby. But this is my third & I think I may be dreaming if I think those muscles will go all the way back again. I'll hope, but I won't count on it. For this trip I bought 3 tankini type suits trying to emphasize my legs & cleavage & NOT emphasize my belly/bottom/love handles. I may have only 8 lbs but those 8 lbs are not evenly distributed on my body! :lmao: :lmao: They are focused right there on the center like a deflated balloon.

I'm not complaining, tho. I like to think of it all as battle wounds & that I EARNED every fat cell & stretch mark. I'll just try to shrink those fat cells a bit. No sense in having plump ones.;)

Hello All!!!

Everyone is doing GREAT!!!! :goodvibes I feel like it a fresh start today with it being the 1st of the month!!! The past month has probably been the most inconsistent i have been in a long time! (2 many vacations bbq's engagement parties etc etc)...So I was excited today when i woke up that it is finally August and I can start FRESH!!!!! My calendar is still packed Im actually leavin for Chicago tomorrow to see the mets play at wrigley field...NICE:cool1:

Im just going to try and lose the "Im on vacation why not have french fries" or the "its a bbq have a beer and a hamburger today" normally i am all for eating whatever i want in moderation but i feel like im sliding down a slippery slope and have been making to many excuses and not fully sticking with my goals and it starting to show on my body (i dont want to wear a bikini or tank top..my skinny jeans at tight) also i feel super sluggish in the morning and overall i just dont feel go about myself after i pounded hamburger and beers the day before at a bbq or party....so at least for this month i am going to start to be a little strict on myself regardess of where i am!!!! July was one non stop party in my mouth with food!!!! :rotfl:hopefully august will be a little different...

ill let everyone know how i did in chicago!!! im hoping for the best...

THat is how I feel. I can do some fries or sweets but if I just say, "Forget the diet" and eat tons & tons of grease/sweets/alcohol I feel horrific the next day so it just really isn't worth it even if it wasn't about losing weight and looking great in vacation photos it would be about feeling good every day.

Since I am a late bloomer I congratulate you all for getting control over your weight in your youth. I have been working on getting my baby weight off for 35 years.

Yesterday I made the 100# mark. I kissed the scales.

I have a goal to lose another 5 pounds before we leave for our September trip, hope to stay even (last time I lost 4#'s) during the trip and get another 10 off before the end of the year. It is very hard for me to lose weight because I take steriods. Bummer but a gal has to breathe!! :cutie:

estherhead, it has taken me nearly 3 years go to get to this point. Don't cha just 'hate' those WL stories of folks who decide to diet and it just drops off, with no backtracking??

LMO429, I am sorry to hear about your health issues. It is not fair at all. I hope they have it all under control. Just do not give up. No matter how much less than 'perfect' you may feel if you give up it will be much, much worse.

I lost the first 50 pounds or so pretty easily way back when but then had a year when I gained and lost the same darned pounds over and over and over again. I have had a loss every single month this year. That is my only goal. One month I only lost 1/2#.

I have six good reasons for doing this. My grandchildren. I help raise two and am very close to them and through sad circumstances (dil) I do not get to see the other 4. Every time I am tempted to go off track I think of them and it keeps me going.

Back to work for me. I have all the panels laid out and ready to paint as soon as it cools down a bit. Thank you all for the nice break. I need one. :thumbsup2

I'm on WW, have been since late May, and have lost 22 pounds so far :woohoo: I'm really happy about that, and I post on the WW board daily -- but having this as an extra motivation would be great!!!

Would you believe that when I went out this morning to put the panels up my neighbor had already done it for me? He is so handy and I used to hire him to do all my work but now he is older and in bad health and I do not like to bother him. He is a tireless worker and enjoys doing small jobs. I can afford to pay him and I did. Not nearly what he is worth though as he can do more in an hour than most can do in a day. I am so grateful. It would have taken me the entire rest of the day to finish. And that is why I am here instead of working. I will do other chores that need to be done though.

I did manage to lose a bit over a pound from yesterday. I am sure most of that is water weight from all the sweating but it still feels good. Mowing the lawn should add a bit more today. Would it not be fantastic if I managed to make it beyond my goal before going to DW and how sick is it to think that means I could eat an extra Mickey Bar? Very sick. :rotfl2: The only really good thing about being so very big is that you use up a whole lot more calories than skinny folks. :dance3:

I use my Disney trips to keep the weight off that I have already lost. Nothing makes me feel better than seeing video or pictures of myself in cute outfits. Have too many videos of myself at Disney-especially from behind because DH is taping-always wondering 'whose large rearend is taking up all the room?- That was mine, but not anymore. I also have thyroid disease like a PP & it is definatley a challenge. Been a member of WW for over a year now & I've learned so much & totally have changed the way I eat.....Except for vacation. Can't or won't I should say follow the program on vacation. I do make myself some deals though. While we will eat & enjoy, 1. No dining plan for us this trip. Last trip both DH & I gained 10 pounds in 8 days!!!:scared1: 2. No soda. With the lite lemonade this promise is much easier to keep. Or I bring the crystal lite packs to mix myself. I still love junk & fried food & WW hasn't gotten all that out of my brain & probably never will, BUT I do know that I feel better when I eat right & that that the junkie, heavy meals are now a TREAT & not the NORM. Have lost 42 pounds on WW & became a lifetime member in Dec. Love the way I look & feel. It is so worth it. Wasted too much time being the other way. Good luck to all those out there struggling. One day at a time!!!!! Yeah Disney!!:cheer2:

I do the low carb thing but count points also.

Will someone please answer me this riddle? If you have to eat 3,500 calories extra to gain a pound how can a person who ate a piece of chicken, a bowl of fresh fruit and ONE slice of cake possibly gain over 3 pounds overnight??? It is a question I often ask.

Also, how come it takes a week or more to take it back off?

Something is wrong somewhere. :confused3

Good for you for not giving up!!!! Your weight will fluctuate daily so the best indication of whether you are gaining or losing weight is to weigh yourself only ONCE a week at the same time!!! :goodvibes

If anything based on what you ate maybe the chicken and cake had salt in it which causes bloating and water weight....you def did not gain 3 pounds if anything if you weigh yourself the following day that weight should be gone!!!

I don't do WW or anything, but I keep track of my calories/weight/exercise on a computer program. I used it online for free after it helped me drop 20 pounds a few years ago. Then I decided to purchase it so I didn't have to wait for it to load each time. It's a great motivator & really helps with all the visuals -- graphs, charts, etc. In addition to that, when I get serious (I'm a real yo-yo dieter) about getting fit again, I make myself a nerdy chart where I write in my calories for the day, exercise I've done (cardio and strength), and my beverages (enough water, did I refrain from pop or alcohol?). I give myself points. Now -- do I do anything with the points? Not really, but I still feel proud of myself when I have a week of great points & I can see the correlation between low points and the scale remaining steady for too long or gasp going up!!!!!!

Sometimes I imagine that Mickey would grant me a Disney dollar for each point I earn!:wizard: Wouldn't that be a motivator!!!!!

I'll try to check in every few days! Best wishes, everyone!:grouphug:

I had a gain for this week. Seems as if I have a gain at least once a month. Better at the beginning than at the ending though. :)

LMO429, thank you for the encouragement. I have finally learned all this stuff but it is hard sometimes. I want results and I want them NOW!!!

Suzimom, I have food diaries for each and every bite I have eaten for the past three years. How is that for 'nerdy'? lol If I bite it I write it. It has kept me from eating many things just cause I do not want to have to write it down.

I have reached the state where I can watch Rachael Ray without wanting to eat anything. Of course that might be because she is on very late at night and I am too lazy to get out of bed and get something. :dance3:

Mmmm... Skinny Cow. Yup, I've had 'em. My new favorite treat, tho, is the crunchy version of Klondike Slim-a-Bear. They are 3 points & worth every delicious bite. They've come out with a 2 point version but they are smaller & no crunch so I'd rather spend the extra point. Mmm... I'm looking forward to one with lunch in... in 2 and half hours! Yummy, LUNCH!

I worked out yesterday with DH & did chest. I actually bench pressed 65 lbs so I was all proud. Dh can do 225 lbs, but who is comparing, right? Then I took a 2 mile walk with my Mom & ran a mile. Today I met a girl bright and early for a quick 2 mile run.

Gosh Darnit, I've earned myself a Skinny Cow! :lmao:

Chocolate is my downfall so I have to have a diet that allows me to have it or else!! I have several diet chocolate recipes if anyone is interested.

Did you know that you can make the sugar free pudding with one cup of water and one cup of milk to cut out some fat and calories? Whatever you do, do NOT use all water. I did. It does not work. Ugh!!

Howdy, it is over 100 degrees here and I am trimming bushes, pulling weeds and generally working in the yard. Too busy to go stepping. :cool1:

I have to take all this to the dump Saturday and get a load of red mulch which I will put on some of the beds Sunday and Monday.

The fun just never ends.

My husband does not do 'housework'. The yard is attached to the house so it falls under that category. :rolleyes1 Unfortunately the garage sits on the yard so the car upkeep is also mine.

Ouch, not very handy, is he? Hopefully he makes good money? :lmao: Or is amazing at something else?:rotfl2: If I had to do all the yard work in addition to all the cars & all the inside housework we would most definately be buying a condo within the next month. There's just too much to do to run a household.

I suppose you do all the packing & planning too, eh? ;)

SlightlyGoofy

estherhead, you summed it up with not very 'handy'. Wish he were at least decorative. :rotfl2:

The sad thing is that his ways of life are killing him and he still does not see the light. :sad2:

Luckily I have nearly 35 years of experience and it ain't like it it is something new.

Cannot buy a condo as his family sees no reason why he should have to give up his way of life and those pesky monthly fees disturb him. Why pay for lawn care when you already have it?

Yep, I do the planning and packing too. Don't we all???

Less than 30 days until I get to live like he does all year long. I will wake up when I darn well feel like it, someone else will make the bed and clean up after me and I do not have to cook any meals. Heaven!!

I am now done with the outside work for the day and the scales are rewarding me for my effort. Water weight but hey, I will take whatever I get. ONLY have my inside chores to do tonight.

Sure glad I do not have to 'work'. What would I do without the DIS to visit between jobs and planning my next trip to DW?:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

This paragraph reminds me of a time 5 years ago when I was on a cruise boards planning a cruise with my family. I had a 9 month old & a 25 month old & was exhausted. There were threads after threads on how horrible the food was now & how this & that service had gone downhill. I was sitting at my computer & had just eaten a stale Cheerio off the floor as my toddler had fed it to me. The baby had awakened & was beginning to scream & the house was a disaster.

I just paused (before dealing with it all) and thought, Exactly how horrible could the service & food be? Will they be serving me stale Cheerios in a dining room that hasn't seen a mop in 2 weeks? :lmao: I doubt it. And that is when I knew I'd have a great time. And boy did we.   What a treat to come back to the room & have it vacuumed & the beds made while I was getting a massage & someone else was watching my kids!!!!

Those of us who do a lot, both for our families and for ourselves (and health), really appreciate a nice vacation. I have wonderful dreams of relaxing under a palm tree at Typhoon Lagoon while the now bigger kids play. And eating food other's have prepared (they do dishes too!:cloud9: .) And, of course, sleeping in a bed someone else made.
 's to all of you who are working so hard! It is worth it.

estherhead, yep, vacations mean more to those of us who do the scut work of life. I bet we are also much neater in our hotel rooms cause we know what goes into cleaning up after people. My Disney housekeepers fight over who gets us cause they have little to do. ;)

The only problem with vacations is all the work that goes into getting ready (not the agendas and such, that is fun!) and then catching up when we get back. I refuse to contemplate anything until we hit the Indiana line.

YOU got brand name cereal??? You lucky lady.

I hope you enjoy your vacation as much I plan to enjoy mine. Getting to meet my DIS pals is my favorite thing. Lots of laughs and making memories! :wizard:

mickeymyfavorite: :wizard: Here's a magic wish that your week will improve. Everyday is a BRAND-NEW day!!!!!!!!

I'm so impressed with the commitment to good health everyone has! What an encouraging, positive thread to be a part of!

I had my strange 3 pound weight gain overnight -- I understand Slightly Goofy what you mean when you say you feel like you're doing bare minimum eating and the scale doesn't show it. And LMO, in my brain I know what you say is true about weighing yourself once a week. I just can't break the habit, though:guilty: If I don't weigh myself everyday, I'm afraid I'll miss my lost pounds. Instead, because of some weird law in the universe, I'll only ever weigh myself on these odd 3-pound overnight gains!!!!!!!:scared1: It's all a mental thing...of course, some would say, everything's a mental thing with me...!!!!:lmao: :rotfl:

SlightlyGoofy

Suzimom, I weigh myself morning and night. I have to. Usually I lose about two pounds overnight but lately that has not been happening. That tells me that I am retaining water. Since I am eating sparingly but have been terribly thirsty due to all the yardwork I am doing in this heat I am sure that is what it is.

The thing about weighing more often, for me, is that if the scales are down it gives me incentive to keep on with whatever I am doing and if they are up they inspire me to try something different. I know more about myself in the past 3 years than I had ever learned in the previous decades.

Don't cha just hate the fact that those quick 3 pounds UP will take so much longer going back DOWN?? Gravity should kick in, heaven knows it works on every other body part.

How true!!! My DH had to laugh at me the other day (and I did, too -- because it really was rather silly). He knows I weigh myself every morning. Well, he walked in bedroom late morning and there I am on the scale -- didn't say anything. About 3:00 in the afternoon, same thing -- this time there was a little chuckle, and finally around 6:00 when he couldn't contain himself anymore as he saw me ONCE AGAIN on the scale, he just had to ask, "You just trying to find the right number for the day?" Well, DUH!! :rotfl:

I really don't normally do that, I was basically experimenting with my water/fat% on my scale. I don't think it's a terribly accurate measure, though. Anyway, we had a laugh about it.

I'm so impressed that you've lost 100#!!   Way to go!!:woohoo:

Suzimom, I have digital scales and often have to get on them a few times and take an average. I probably just need to change the batteries but who has time for that?

Yesterday I had to take a big truckload of stuff, some to the landfill and some to a yardwaste place (why can they not have both things in the same place????) so I had all of that to unload and then I got a big truckload of red mulch at a great price and managed to get it all unloaded and spread.

Believe me, with my breathing problems, this was not an easy task. I had to take frequent breaks and one time the pain was actually up in my jaw, something I try to avoid.

The good news is that the scales are down majoring from yesterday and I am currently looking at a nearly 4 pound loss for the week. If I can just not drink anything today and tomorrow, that is. Do you know what a gallon of water weighs??? :scared1:

If the weight holds it will be a new low for me. Still fat but not as morbid.

Do you know that in Japan they have toliets that weight and analyze everything to give you a daily report? I am not sure I want to know quite that much about myself. :lmao:

How did your scales behave today? If they do not do as you wish, just stomp them into submission. Mine are scared of me.

Linda -

You are such a WORKER!!! Seems like about everytime you post, you've been laboring hard in your yard! Wow - sometimes you make me tired just reading your posts! I rug-doctored the house today -- we have the staff with their families from my school coming over tomorrow evening for a get-together before the year starts. I've spent the past few days looking at my house from a visitor's perspective -- amazing how many cobwebs & dust bunnies you just don't see until you look at your house that way. Needless to say, I've been cleaning, cleaning, and cleaning some more. This is my reward right now -- I haven't had time to check back on the boards for a few days.

My scales are behaving pretty nicely lately. Thanks for asking. I will know who to send them to if they don't do what I want...:rotfl:

How did your 4 lb. loss go? Keep up the great work!!:thumbsup2

Suzimom, I do not work because I want to but I am forced to.

I am a 59 year old woman married for 35 years to a 73 year old man who was hard pressed to put in his 37.5 hrs a week let alone do anything, and I do mean anything else.

Never had enough money to hire much done and I like things to be neat and clean. German, ya know.

I try to think, when I am doing the work, that the money saved will mean an extra hour at DW. I love it there. I get to walk around and talk to people (not much of that allowed here), eat what I want without fear (or much of it) of gaining weight and someone else cleans up after ME!!!

I am afraid that my 4# loss dwindled to a mere 3.75# by the time I hit the TOPS scales. They are not as afraid of me as my small scales are. Actually that is a huge loss so I am scared I will not have one this week. I have two more pounds to go to reach my goal pre trip.

I have to disagree with you about something you said .

looking at my house from a visitor's perspective

I can promise you that you are far more critical of your home than your visitors will be. We are so familiar with out homes that we know the nooks and crannies that do not get as much attention. Usually cause we are busy doing something more important. :laundy: Next time you visit someone else's home please take note of just how much you pay attention to the corners and such. I think you will rethink your hard postition on yourself.

I hate doing the carpets. It plumb wears me out. Sounds as if you are a diyer also. Do you have your own machine? I do and love it. I tend to clean more often. I use a Shark to vacumn nearly every day. We both have breathing issues. The Shark is amazing and so easy to use. We also take our shoes off in the UR coming in from the garage and that helps a lot. I do not mind taking my shoes off in someone else's home at all. I have a Korean sil. Makes sense to me. I always did think that guy with the dirty shirt collar should have washed his neck instead of expecting his wife to get the collars cleaned.

I just finished hiring someone to reroof the garage roof. I am a hard worker but I am not crazy. :dance3:

Hope it rains here and everywhere else that needs it.

SG/Linda
