I think this thread was going somewhere & I kind of killed it...
How are people doing on their goals?
What successes do friends have to share? What frustrations are you encountering? Let's try to get this back up and running and more helpful to all!!!!

Hello all, we're back from Disney and I lost .4 lbs while there! I haven't been good since though and am still at the same spot. I'm getting back on track today as I still have a tiny bit to go to my pre-pregnancy weight.
It's worth the effort, I didn't mind my photos too much. Even the one DH & I had taken at Blizzard Beach! Losing weight to look cute in vacation photos IS worth the effort!

I'm partly to blame also about this thread getting lost! I was suppose to start writing on here how much I have been working out and posting good eating habits! but i got side-tracked!
The summer was a roller coaster ride as far as weight loss and good habits. One week I was eating great and working out! The next Im eating cheeseburgers and drinking too many beers! :scared1:
Despite all the ups and downs this past summer I only gained 5 pounds. Since Labor day I have been pretty consistent with working out and eating right. This past sunday was rough I went to the feast in little italy ate a couple of zeppoles and then we went to watch football at a bar and i had a couple of wings and some beers ...I'm trying not to beat myself up about it and move on!!! I think Im trying to correct my biggest problem when it comes to my weight loss. It is my all or nothing attitude. usually when i had a bad day on sunday I would have a bad day on mon, tues, wed etc. Im just trying to move on from being so perfect when it comes to dieting ...it doesnt work it just leads to bingeing and bad eating anyway. so im trying to change my thinking and say ok hey I had some bads things sunday but monday was right back to the gym and eating right!!!
My ulitmate goal is my trip to disney in May!!!!! I would love to be 120 pounds! so we shall see how it goes. Lets keep this thread going im glad you brought it back to life suzimom!
And congrats to esterhead and redstargazer on the weight loss!!!

I have been on a diet journey since the week before Memorial Day. I have lost 19 pounds and am currently stuck right now- the scale won't budge. This past sunday I spoke with the owner of the place that I exercise. She told me to step up my game by exercising harder and the weight will start to disappear once again. I have began walking alot, with the treadmill included to condition myself for disney- we all know how much walking we do there!! I would like to be at least down 10 more pounds by my trip on 11/29, I think that is doable...

I always suggest adding weights....muscle burns calories...I would suggest dvd workouts as the firm..or do strength training at the gym

I take classes 3x a week. On monday I do a upper body blast, which includes your arms, abs, and back muscles- lots of weight lifting. On friday I take a step class which also involves weight lifting as well. On sunday mornings I take a kardio kick class which involves your legs and arms.
I have bingo arms- jiggly, jiggly and trying hard to get rid of the fat and have diesel arms.

Are you writing down every single bite you are eating? Sometimes when we are super frustrated with our weight we end up eating too little, especially when we bump up the exercise. I'd figure out how many calories you are burning a day & then exactly how many calories you are eating every day. You may be surprised that you will lose weight faster bumping up the exercise & bumping up the food intake.

I'm Brenda. We are going on our second land/sea pkg Christmas of 08. Last time was Christmas 2000. I was in good shap, and walking those parks for 3 day was murder on my feet and back. Now I'm very overweight, and am dreading the parks. I'm off to a good start. I'm down 17 lbs. Still have a long way to go, but I want to be able to enjoy the parks with the grandchildren. It's going to be great to meet others who are working toward the same goal.

Hope you don't mind if I join in too! I am going to WDW for the first time the end of January with my dh and 3 boys. It is my ds's (4) Make a Wish trip. Among the many things I am doing to prepare for this trip (all fun stuff!!), I have set a goal to lose 44+ pounds. I started Sept. 1 and have lost 10# to date. I have cut out all snacks, except 1 healthy treat in the afternoon and stick to 3 meals a day. I have done several hard core diets (hospital all liquid etc.) but always gain the weight back within a year. I am hoping by doing this slower this time it will stay off as I learn good habits along the way. I also walk on a treadmill every evening- right now it's 35-40 minutes but planning to kick it up to 1hr over the next several weeks. I feel great. Wish I didn't have so much to come off so that that 10 pounds was really obvious but I know I'm on my way. Good luck to everyone!!

Welcome to all you new ones! When I was just at WDW there were lots of "Pooh-sized" ones and they all seemed to be having a wonderful time. No matter what size you are, if you start walking 3 months in advance (if you are physically able) just a tiny bit a day & slowly work up you should be fine. Disney is very good at having you walk a bit & then have a ride or a show so it never feels like extreme walking even though you are walking a lot.
You can do it! And it is worth it! Any little bit you lose, any little bit walk will help you have a more enjoyable time.

2 yrs ago I started WW and lost 50 lbs and have been on maintanence ever since. But decide a month ago I wanted to lose 5 lbs for our Oct. '07 trip. I cut my points and write down everything I eat....but have only lost 1lb. So much for my goal...we only have 2 1/2 wks left before we arrive at MickeyLand. Oh well, hope all the walking at WDW will offset all the awesome food. Good Luck all!!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I started a weight loss plan in mid-April to prepare for our trip to WDW at the end of August. I worked really hard and was able to lose 30lbs. I would still like to lose another 20, but I was amazed at how much better I was able to handle the heat/humidity while we were visiting. I basically just quit buying the high fat/high calorie junk my family had been eating. We eat a lot more chicken and fish along with fresh fruits and vegetables. I also started walking daily and have built up enough stamina to go about 5 miles each day. Now I just have to find somewhere else to go as an incentive for the next 20. Good luck everyone!!!

Just try to stay away from soda along with the free refills that come with it @ TS restaurants. Also, request your salad dressing on the side so you can control how much you use. I was really careful and still came home up 7 lbs. However, when I weighed myself a week later it was all gone -- so don't be discouraged if you get weighed when you first get home and don't like what you see!

I went for a week on free dining and lost a half pound. I didn't do anything amazing, I split meals with my Dh whenever possible, I ate a banana for half my breakfasts, and if I didn't adore something I did not have another bite. That was my strategy and I think I did pretty good losing a half pound while eating apple turnovers, cheesy potatoes, and bread pudding!
Congrats on your weight loss!

You'll be fine...cut back on calories where you can, but don't deny yourself the stuff you really want (just try to leave at least one bite of it on the plate -- even that will add up during your stay).

I am trying to lose weight before my 2 week disney vacation, with the dining plan!! Every time I go to WDW I lose weight because of all the walking I do. But I still would like to lose 20-30lbs before DH & I head down! DH is also trying to lose some...so we have set our goal to have the weight gone by June 2008..That's 9 months away...40 weeks...so I don't even need to lose 1 lb a week...this makes me feel alot better!! I know we can all do this!

HI! I'm Donna and I'm headed to Disney with my family in April/May2008.:rainbow: I'll be spending a week in St Pete for a wedding then 8 days at WDW.
I'm too excited for words for our up coming trip! I NEED to lose a ton of weight... However I'm looking at 35# by our trip. I want to get up to 6 miles a day walking or nordic trac...
I saw someone with a tracker for the pounds lost and still to lose and days until trip... Where do I get one of those?
Happy losing everyone!:flower:

I was in WDW in July and purchased an outfit from world of disney, I bought it a size smaller on purpose, hoping that when I return in November that it would fit me of course I'm dieting, but it is so hard.
but I'm not gaining either :cheer2:
Hi Everyone I have a little more than a month to go till I go back to WDW, I posted the above a while ago, and today I tried on the outfit and it fit, it could be looser...but it fits now. I hope within the next month I'll lose enough for the outfit to be comfortable, Hey I'll even take baggy:lmao: .................:thumbsup2

well I gained 12 lbs this month so i just ordered from nutrisystem
I tried nutrisystem! I thought it was terrible! the food was awful!!! it made dieting that much harder for me.. I dont want to discourage you i am just trying to warn you to not waste your money. Some people love nutrisystem and I dont get it. Nutrisystem to me is a diet!!!! I felt deprived the whole time i did it. and adding water to so called "eggs" was just disgusting. the only two good things on nutrisystem in my opinion were the pizza and chocolate cake but if you think about it is full of carbs and junk
If you are looking for something similiar to nutrisystem try zone chefs or zone delivery.. the food is 100% better and you will not feel like you are depriving yourself. I have done the zone delivery for the past month and lost 9 pounds!

I have the perfect diet.
We just returned from 24 days at DW. I do the low carb diet but ate what I wanted this trip. I savored each and every carb delight. I got on the scale this morning and had only gained ONE pound. I have never gained at DW every before but with all the free food and so much hot weather and rain we did not walk as much as usual but still, only one pound?? Not bad at all. Bet I can get it off before my Tuesday weigh in!! :thumbsup2
What we all need to do is check into DW for extended vacations and we will lose all we want to and all while eating well!! :cool1:

Good luck all.......on maint. with WW ( after loseing 52lbs. 1 1/2 yrs ago) but decided 4 weeks ago to try and lose 5 xtra lbs. for our 10-10-07 trip to WDW. Have not been too successful, only lost 3 lbs (that I will probably gain back on the first day at the F&W fest.) but not giving up hope. I still have 4 1/2 days left. And if I don't hit my goal....at least I'll be in the mode to jump back on my WW when we get home. BUt on vacation, No Dieting Allowed, just food and fun. Enjoy everyone....we can always diet when we get home.:woohoo: :woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo: :woohoo:
PS. a couple of the girls at work have tried nutrisystem and Jenny Craig, have paid lots of money and not lost much after 6mos. My boss (female) and I did WW and hit our goal in 6 mos. and have maintained very well, (went from a size 14 to a size 6). I don't go to meetings....just joined online (much cheaper).

wezee, congrats on losing the weight AND keeping it off. Just because you did not lose as much as you wanted does not mean you did not succeed. You done great gal~! I am former Buckeye myself.
BTW, one of the best meals I had at DW was at Flame Tree at AK. They have a fantastic fruit platter with a honey yogurt dip for a good price too!! Not your usual common fruit pieces either.

I never even thought to look and see if there was a thread for this. I have adapted a healthy lifestyle (not diet- diet is short term) for the past 6 months with disney as my motivation. So far I have lost 42 lbs. I was following WW and then a coworker told me about sparkpeople.com. Basically the same a WW except its free and has alot of online support. Its a calorie counter, nutritional education and fitness counter and so much more. My visual motivation (which is pretty pitiful) is me in a mickey t-shirt...tucked in!!! I haven't been able to buy one because they were too tight. Now I can. I still have 40 lb to lose but I made it half way. It funny how happy disney can make us when we aren't even there. I started planning this trip a year ago when I was recovering from a hysterectomy and was very sick with post op infections and getting depressed. Now are trip is only a month away. WOOHOOO!!:cool1: Can't wait to compare my pics from 1.5 y ago to this year with mickey.
Dieters--- after years and years of dieting and gaining it all back plus more I have found the secret...THERE IS NOT SECRET CURE!!! It takes time and persistence and you have to find a way to eat differently for the rest of your life not just till you lose the weight. Thats why it comes back. Can't believe it has taken me soooo long to figure this out. So that means that you can have things that you crave sometimes but most of the time you eat healthy and stay away from simple carbs (they just make you crave more)! I have a few coworkers who have followed Sparkpeople.com too and have lost lots of weight. It really just shows you in small steps how to change to a healthier lifestyle.
Good luck in your weight loss goals. You just need to find something that works for you. Thats the key!!!!:teacher:

I tried nutisystems, and found it to be VERY salty, I couldn't handle it I was getting very bad headaches, it made me sick  not mention the amount of water I retained from the food, I found my looking very bloated. I'm not discouraging anyone, this is how my body reacted to the foods.

neonurse, you are so right in your advice. Wish I had learned it earlier but better late than never. I do not diet. Diets do not work cause you go off them and gain it all back. It is a way of life, forever. It does get easier though.
wezee, it is always wonderful to run into someone who has not seen us in awhile as it reminds us of how far we have gone. It is sometimes hard for us to realize that ourselves. I carry an old picture of myself and have kept an old pair of slacks for those days when I get down and discouraged to remind myself so that I can keep on track. I am formerly from the Athens area. Where might you live?

I didn't get headaches but I was miserable when I was on it. To sum it up it was TERRIBLE!!!! They claim it has some nutrional value but dried up vegetables and beef can not be 100% healthy for anyone. Most of the items had alot of carbs in it and the taste!!!....... i dont even want to go there!!!

wezee, whatever you do, if you visit Athens, avoid Halloween. It gets rather bizarre and sometimes more than a tad bit rowdy and obscene then. :confused3
neonurse, I have found that the pounds that come off slowly seem to stay gone while the fast ones bounce right back.
Today my weight seems to be about 3 pounds down from what I weighed before I left on my 24 day trip. Not bad, not bad at all. Hope I can keep it off until weigh in. I have lost close to an additional 25# this year and am hoping to make my goal of 30#. It is so hard when you have a huge amount to lose as it takes so long. Keeping it off is harder though.

neonurse, I have found that the pounds that come off slowly seem to stay gone while the fast ones bounce right back.
This is so true!!! Sometimes I get really frustrated when I only lose a 1/2 pound a week or so but always tell myself that slower is better. I've lost 35 lbs. now since April and hope to get off another 15 and I really don't care if it takes me a year to do it because I know I have a better chance of keeping it off.
I've gone from a size 18 to a 12 and people keep asking me how I've done it. I didn't use any special diet aids or foods -- I simply quit buying junk!!! I have a huge sweet tooth so it has been really had to pass up cookies, candy, and ice cream but I just don't even go down that aisle in the grocery store.
I will treat myself to a fat-free frozen yogurt from time to time and just yesterday bought a small pack of the new raspberry M&M's...but I actually split it up between my family (we each got six). It wasn't a lot, but it was enough for me to try the candy and not feel guilty about it.
We've also gone to eating mainly chicken and lots of fresh vegetables/fruits. Would I love to hit the drive-thru at Wendy's or Burger King? You betcha! But I don't because I know it won't be worth it.
I've also started walking every day. I go first thing in the morning and it was really hard at first, but I'm up to about 4 miles a day and I always feel so good when I'm finished (tired, but good!).
Sorry -- I didn't mean to ramble on, but I just wanted people to know that you don't need to rely on anyone or anything else to accomplish your weight loss goals...you can do it yourself (and it truly does get easier with each passing day). :goodvibes

You are SOOOO RIGHT!!!! Its all about the little changes in our life that add up to pounds lost. I still will occassionally let the kids have their fast food but when I go I get a healthier choice like BLT (no mayo) at McD's, chicken burger at wendy's and a veggie burger at Harvey's. I usually steal 2 fries from the kids and savour every bite and that seems to be enough for me. Your right...its not worth it. I still can't believe that I have lost 42. It doesn't seem really. I feel better and look a bit different. I still feel fat some most days. It was funny I put on my jeans from the spring and actually sqealed (my son thought a spider scared me). My pant are way too big. I can fit both my arm down inside the waist all the way to my knees. Now it is fun to buy new clothes. My DH hates that I am shopping for clothes all the time...but I tell him I truely have nothing to wear. Hahahahaha:rotfl2: Anything that is too big I give away. I am not going back to my fat clothes!!!
I also find that rewarded myself with food and used to to cope with stress. If you find out what your eating patterns are and write down what you and when it makes it easier to isolate the problem. Its still hard but now when I catch myself I seem to be able to stop it sooner and get back on track.

calypso*a*go-go, feel free to ramble. That is what we are here for and you never know when something you say or ask might help one of us others.
neonurse, with all the walking I have never gained weight while on vacation. Says a lot about my 'real' life. If only I lived in EPCOT year round. :thumbsup2 With the heat and the stress of coping with my dh's oddities I just do not get hungry on vacation. I am content with a bite or two of something really good and have learned to be very picky and not eat stuff just cause it is there. It has to be 'worth it'. Being pretty much housebound and overworked at home tends to make me want to eat more and more often I think.
I shop at garage sales and thrift stores and buy clothing that is too small. I have an entire closet upstairs with it all sorted by hanger color and when I lose a certain amount I go shopping there before filling in with brand, spanking new clothes. I could never afford to buy an entire new wardrobe for each size change.
calypso*a*go-go, I have some good news for you. The next time you HAVE to go to McD's order yourself an ice cream cone. I swear this is true, the healthiest thing they have there is the ice cream cone. It is only 140 calories and if you are like me it is satisfying and you do not need anything else at all. If I am hungry for protein I get the double cheeseburger without bun, they serve it on some lettuce with a tomato slice. I do low carb so it works for me.
There is a website called 'Dotties' that has an awesome amount of info for those who are doing WW or Low Carb with calorie counts for recipes and restaurants. I use it often. Hope this helps someone.
I am off for some aerobic exercise as the yard needs mowing. Joy!! :dance3:

Slightlygoofy--Thanks for your words of wisdom!!! Sounds like you have made some positive lifestyle changes. Just think of calories you are burning cutting the lawn!!! Do you have an MP3 player. I love mine...best $40 I have ever spent. Makes me actually enjoy walking and I don't get bored.
All the clothes that I bought were at the end of the season...needed shorts and stuff for disney in Nov. and I got lucky they were already marked down and then an additional 50% off YAHOOO!!! ( I am a bargain shopper and cheap) This is the first bunch of clothes I bought since starting my weight loss in the spring. I feel I deserve to treat myself for doing a good job. I am not spending $14 a week on WW so that money can be spent on me.:lmao: Actually am usually the last person in the house to get anything new. I always hated buying clothes and the act of trying clothes on so now I am actually happy and having fun trying on new clothes. Something about having on a new outfit lifts your spirits. I am turning back into the confident, proud woman I used to be. I have been hiding in big baggy clothes hoping no one would notice me and now I am feeling more confident. I think rewarding yourself for a job well done isn't bad. They say you shouldn't reward your weight loss with food so every 10 lb I buy a little something for me. A purse, earring, something under $20. I think part of my problem before was putting myself last and I won't stay there anymore. I am just as important as my kids. I deserve to look good too. The better I feel about myself will have a postitive affect on my kids. My healthy eating has affected everyone including my DH he is down 18lb and didn't even know it until he went for a physical. I think as busy moms we sometimes get lost in the shuffle. Thats why my signature says " Finding myself again. I was lost but now I am found"!!!!!

neonurse, I hear you on not having respect for yourself and putting everyone else first. I done done that and did it extremely well, so much so that the only person I can depend upon is myself. This is a thoughtful assessment and not something I have arrived at easily. If I falter it is the nursing home for me and that I know well. In the meantime I am responsible for taking care of a husband and grandkids. I must lose the weight and keep going, it is my only hope. I have carefully looked at the evidence and do not think myself delusional, just correct. It is difficult fitting any life for myself in among my duties though. If it were not for my warped sense of humor I might have taken a long walk off a short pier decades ago but since I cannot swim I have not. lol I am glad that you are not as slow a learner as I. :hippie:
suzimar57, that whole 12 pounds is not likely to have been just the food you ate. The 8 I gained at the first part of this trip had to have been water weight to have come on so quickly and come back off nearly as fast. I ate what I wanted but was mighty picky about what I did want. Much of my food was reasonably healthy with a few exceptions. Mickey Bars count as calcium right?? :confused3 Maybe something as simple as drinking water with your meals will flush your system.
It is not fair that the weight adds up so fast and subtracts so much slower but then who said that life is fair??
Grass mowed, bushes trimmed. I am shutting down for the day now. Miles to go before I sleep though. Another day tomorrow. I'll think about it then. :)

I am heading to WDW in May and I hope to lose 40lbs by then. I have lost 35lbs since February using sparkpeople.com. It is a wonderful website, with great tips and a nutrition tracker which I really credit for my weight loss. I have found that being aware of the fat and calorie content of the things that I eat helps me to make better choices. Sparkpeople also gives a daily calorie, fat, protein, etc range based on my current weight, foal weight and target date. There is also a huge supportive community and many tools and articles. I highly recommend it!

I look at my photos from last summer's trip and cringe! The dining plan is so worth it but my lord did I pack on the lbs!
I followed weight watchers to the letter this year and lost 22 pounds. We're doing the dining plan again so I'm thinking maybe I should try for another five before July just to have a comfortable buffer!
A couple of tips that have helped me...drink water, lots of water! I'm a late night snacker so I've tried to cut that out and it has helped too. Now I paint my nails while watching tv in the evenings and that keeps me from sticking my hand in the cookie jar.
Good luck to everyone, we can do it because we're worth it (and so are our vacations!)!
We were GARGANTUAN in our May 07 photopass shots.
We went to the Dr and got a modified WW plan (no meetings - no fees). We changed our lifestyle without punishing ourselves AND we both are losing weight.
After 25 years, my husband is the man I made him.....242 lbs and me at 181. SO we began eating low/lower fat, stopped snacking, started keeping cases of water in the car to drink instead of the drive-thru.
DON"T give up - women have to battle twice as hard!
The Doctors were astounded that all our lab values ended up where they wanted them.
The bad food just doesn't taste right...and we where able to eat pretty well and make good choices for our 9/07 trip.
So far I am 169 and he is at 222....with 155 and 200 as our goals.
Good Vibes to all the night snackers-Special K and Kashi Go lean is great with skim milk (and we like the sugar free-fat free Jello pudding as a reward for the week!):goodvibes

We had our semi annual Area TOPS meeting last night and I are proud to announce that, yours truly, won the award for losing the most weight in her chapter. I think that if I had not been at Disney World for nearly a month with all that wonderful Free Food I might have taken the top honors for the area as she only lost four pounds more than I. I wish I could tell you that I lost massive amounts of weight but it was 'only' 22.50#'s from January until July.
I like TOPS because you can do any diet you want, I do a combination low carb but count WW points too. It is only $24 a year and a minimal fee ($1.25 max for us) a month. If you can get a group of at least 6 together you can start your own club if you live in a rural area. I found my club by doing a web search and it gave me the location of nearby clubs.
Whatever works for you! I am cheap and this works for me. :wizard:
I am trying hard to be glad for who ONLY lost 2 pounds while eating out. Honestly, I am. Men!!!! :rotfl:

I am also using our upcoming trip in April 08 as a motivator for losing some weight. After a miscarriage, a pregnancy, an ectopic pregnancy (which resulted in emergency surgery), followed by another surgery to remove ovarian cysts and finally a hysterectomy all within a period of four years ....this poor tummy of mine has seen better days. I am trying to eat more fruit and vegetables and cut down on the pasta, potatoes and other starches. My worst habit is not the sweets, it's the potato chips!! I am also elminating soda from my diet and drinking more water. This along with a moderate exercise program should hopefully help me to lose the 20-25 pounds that I need to.

Goodluck pskork, I too am addicted to potato chips and it's a hard habit to breakpopcorn:: If I really need a chip fix, I opt for Fat free Pringles. But I still need to have at least one soda pop a day, even though I drink diet. But you sound like you've got a great plan and I'm sure you will be successful.:thumbsup2

Good grief, after all that surgery, I'd be saving my money to get a tummy tuck! You already have the scars, might as well have a good memory attached to the scars.

pskorf, I have been there and done all that many years ago. Potato Chips are a weakness of mine so I just keep FF Pringles around now as they do not taste a thing like real chips so I can eat a couple or leave them alone altogether. If I do not have it in the house I cannot eat it.
I have continued to lose these past few weeks and am even further down into 'new' pounds than before. I am close to being at my goal for the end of the year and hope to lose a couple of extra pounds to help on our upcoming December trip. I am still fat though. Just not quite as morbidly so. :thumbsup2
Hang in there folks. It took me decades to get smart enough to do something about this and you all are younger and decades smarter so you are on your way. You do not have to be 'good' 100% of the time but 95% is a good goal to work toward. It is not falling off the wagon that means failure but not getting back on.

I'm still hanging in there with my weight loss goals for my April-May 2008 trip. I'm working with my doc and I have upped my fruits and gotten rid of the white food. (lol all my faves) It seems to be working. I have arthritis in my hips and balls of my feet. Alot of the white foods (white breads, rice, potatoes) are very inflamitory. Now that I have cut them out or at least way down I can do more exercise and I have been 4 days with no advil in my tummy! I'm down 4 pounds in the last month so my goal of a pound a week or 4 a month is in sight. I would like to cut down on the amount of coffee and soda I drink so that is a goal for November. I have upped my water intake and now I will cut the soda... in two weeks I plan to being down to 1 cup of coffee a day.
This morning my family and I walked the hilly perimeter of our 38 acres. I made it the entire way and didn't have to stop for fear of heart attack! I plan to be up to 5 miles a day before our Disney trip.
HMMM I'm looking at 30 pounds gone by the time I leave at this rate....
Onward and Doward for all of us!

I love potato chips too!!! I really don't crave sweets too much anymore but those salty snacks are always calling my name. I only buy the single portion sized bags of baked chips (thank goodness Frito Lay now has them available this way!). They mainly go in the kids' lunches...but every now and then I'll eat one and know that I have to have a controlled portion.
And of course, I'm always looking for a good bargain and it seems like lately they've had some great deals on the full sized bags of chips...it's really hard for me to walk away (and don't even get me started on what a temptation the clearanced Halloween candy has been!!!). But I just have to remind myself that I'm still saving money and calories by just buying less of the regular priced low-fat snacks than over-stocking on cheap stuff we really don't need.
So hang in there everyone and keep up the good work!!! :thumbsup2

I have thought that I would love to have my skin taken away but after recovering from a hysterectomy a year ago....I think not. I have heard that a tummy tuck is a very difficult surgery to recover from. The hyst was enough for me. I'm not giving them another chance at me. I will take my flab. neonurse, I know the program you are talking about and know folks who have used it but I need the accountability of getting on scales in front of other people. I have been in TOPS for over two years. It is much like WW only much, much cheaper. I know folks who do not like it because many of its members are older but anyone can set up their own chapter if they can get at least six members and make it whatever they want. It is non profit.
I am with you on the tummy tuck. In my case it would be much more than a tuck though. I had a sister who had it and a thigh job done a year or so ago and she nearly died of infection so I am scared. If I should have to have another abdominal operation (hopefully not) I might let them trim it off while doing whatever else though. The thigh thing seems to be the most prone to infection. I have not worked this hard to die of vanity.

Slightly goofy- Its great that you found something that works for you. I never knew about sparkpeople and like to let others know that it is out there. If it hadn't been shown to me by a coworker I still would be in the dark. Weight watchers didn't work for me. I think because I work shift work and found it difficult to get to meeting with a regular group to feel part of a team. I think thats what I like about sp, they are there whenever I need them (online). But I know what you mean about being accountable. I joined the dis team and we have a weigh in once a week.
I agree about post op infections. I had a bladder infection that went to my kidneys...for a month. OUCH!!! I was sooo sick. 3 courses of antibiotics. I never want to have another operation. I am with you!!!
Good luck to you and your goals.:thumbsup2

I think that maintaining on vacation is the perfect goal. If we set the goals too high we are setting ourselves up for failure. I am struggling with these last few pounds before the end of the year but have figured out that I have a 4 week period between my last weigh in of the year and the first of next year. Wiggle room, that is what I need!!

Anyone have any advice for me? For the past year, I have been 150 pounds (before the year, the highest I was ever at was 130, with 116 being the low point, I am 5'2"). It seems like I can eat at McDonalds for 7 days a week (slight exageration, but hopefully you get the point), and never go over 150 (no, my scales not broken I checked). I can also eat healthy, do cardio and yoga 5 out of 7 days of the week, and not lose a pound (this had been done steadily at one point for over a month before I gave up). Anybody have any suggestions? I am at about the end of my rope and I too would like to look good in my Dec. Disney pictures.

Ok, first off, GO BUCKS! Secondly, you are more than likely not eating enough when you try to lose weight. I recommend actually joining a real office Weight Watchers in your case & following Flex. I think you'll be surprised that the weight will come off easily. You are a perfect canidate for that particular program. JMHO.

Thanks for the Weight Watchers tip, I am looking into them right now. My other problem with losing weight right now is the monetary aspect of the diet plan. I am in my last year of law school and have virtually no money to my name (thought hopefully next year will be a diff story).

OhioStateBuckeye, might I suggest that you check out the TOPS internet site. You can punch in your zipcode and find a meeting nearby. Even on a students budget you can afford it. The only downside is that a lot of the members are older but if you are comfortable with that it might be a solution.
I am not able to diet without getting on a scale in front of someone else and there are lots of silly contests and fun to be had at TOPS. You can follow any diet you wish.
Also some schools and businesses offer cut rate WW classes so you might check that out as well.
You could also form your own diet group as an alternative.
Good luck and please wave at my sisters who live in Columbus when you are out and about. ;)
