I want to stay at the Portofino in April for 4 nights. We want a deluxe room. I checked prices and with taxes approx $1370. I would need to purchase tickets approx $93 with taxes. But... If I buy an annual pass prior to checking in and book the hotel with the annual pass holder rate the room drops approx $350 in price. Yes it will cost me another $100 for the APH versus the 7 day ticket but I still save $250 and get the APH discounts at my meals. Does this sound right?
Thanks,
Franco

Franco, as I do not know your dates, I can't confirm your math but I did exactly the same thing last year. I bought an annual pass and got the APH rate last year. This year I'm using the AAA rate so that I can utilize my LF benefits.

Plus, you can get some other good discounts with the annual pass.

for chicago area, our AAA yearly membership cost is $50.
i have the ap and the aaa.
i use the aaa for the hotel discount as it is usually cheaper than booking with the ap for when i go. rates vary based on dates
the aaa is honored at the merch and food places in the park and some in city walk. you get 10% discount by showing it.
with the ap discounts lowering, you might get just as a good deal buying the aaa membership.
then buy the tickets on the promo that is going on now. $85 for 7 days/2 parks.
just a thought

franco, the rates I saw for your dates are APH - $976+taxes for a PBR deluxe and AAA is not showing a good discount at this time. I would go ahead with your original plan to get the annual pass, but first book your room to confirm that rate.
