Before Disney started work on Beauty and the Beast, they had concepts and sketches for another love story. This one didn't work out, however, as they couldn't find a way to "Disney" the ending.

But they changed the ending to The Little Mermaid DRASTICALLY. In the end of the original fairytale, she dies! Sorry, I just thought I'd mention that. I'm actually really curious to know the play.

The mayor of ANAHEIM was reported as saying this about DISNEYLAND ...not wanting a 'honky-tonk' enterprise in his city. Good thing he didn't get his way ;)
