LOVED the trip report.....just found it two days ago and loved reading about the adventures of the Glutton family.

I feel a strange kinship to you as I also suffer with the dreaded elephant legs, which I partially blame from all my years in nursing & being on my feet constantly.

Hope your move went well....looking forward to reading all about it!! :thumbsup2

Never fear!

The Gluttons are here!

We're in Tampa, recovering after a whirlwind week at Coronado Springs Resort.

We're house hunting and looking for a great school for the mini Gluttons.

Anyone in Tampa area with recommendations?

Also..... started the trip report for our week with Precious  (Mickey)

Hhhmmmmm...........

Give up the upcoming date of our next Disney Cruise yet?

Hint: It's in 2008

but before October.

Does that help?

Have a safe but fun trip!! Are you ever going to let us know when the second cruise is?

I leave on my 3 night scrap cruise to the always lovely Ensenada, Mexico on Friday! It is a scrap cruise so I am just going to play on the ship with girlfriends. Might not even get off the ship, because once you've been to Tijuana or Ensenada, you really don't ever have to go back again!!

Would much rather be going to Cancun with some Cabana boys!!:cool1:

OK, inquiring minds want to know...

how was it???:wizard:

We're thinking Tampa might be our place.

Close to Precious  (Mickey) yet also near the Tampa Bay Bucs (who need another Superbowl trip)

Cross country sure was a haul!

Hello! Yes, I know I'm about SEVEN months late, but I just noticed the link to your report in your siggie. So here I am. I'm only on page 2, and boy does this seem like fun already! Just wanted you to know that I'm LATE, but I'm HERE!

Now if you'lll excuse me, I have a report to read! :car:

OH GOSH!!!! I just got to the part where you were in the restaurant and your son got sick! I dont know what's worse: your description, or the fact that I expected pics too!

Oh Glenda! Good to see you here. Now I feel guilty for neglecting the other trip report!

There are Maggiano's everywhere! I haven't had the nerve to venture inside one sine "the incident".

I did convince my parents to go peek inside one to make sure there wasn't a picture of the Gluttons on the wall.

After the amount of spew that came out of that kid, I'm surprised they didn't send a HAZMAT team after us.

Should I look for pics of the "incident"??

Mamma Glutton loved your TR I laughed and cried and didn't feel nearly as silly as I have of late - since I have been unable to even look through the website or the boards with out getting so excited for the 11/15 surprise trip on the Wonder. It's so comforting to know that I am not alone :)

I digress (I know your special word)...
I have lived in FL for my entire life and spent the last 1/2 in Tampa only recently moved a little south to Manatee County and Bradenton.. So, please feel free to PM me, I may have some insight school wise and location..

Hi K!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE living in Florida! DH and I drove across the bay (on a bridge) yesterday, windows down, radio blasting, and I could not get over the incredible air, warmth, palm trees, and more.

We have narrowed it down to two houses in Land O Lakes. Both are the same floor plan by the same builder, but hope to be in them by Christmas.

I start orientation at one job this week, drug screen et al. The other job, I'm determined to close the deal on this week. It was supposed to be Friday, but the nurse manager in charge of the department was gone Friday afternoon.

DH is supposed to go on his final interview for his new job this week too, but they said that two weeks and two interviews ago, so we'll see.

I just don't want to commute more than 20 minutes each way to work.

I have yet to see Bradenton, but I have a feeling I'd love it too!

Hi there! What a fantastic report! We're going on our first DCL cruise this October, and your report has been very helpful and informative, and hysterically funny! Made a note of some of your tips, if thats ok, especially for the conditioner. DD (17), DD (14) and I all have long hair and I was NOT looking forward to combing it out after a day at Castaway Cay.

Once again, thanks!

Thanks for reading!

I cannot believe in less than a week it will be a year since we left icy cold Montana for our trip to see Precious (Mickey:love:) and our cruise.

Only 250 days to go until our Halloween on the High Seas cruise.

Wow!!! Lot of pages...I'm gonna have to catch up on this one

Just remember.....

get up and stretch every 2-3 hours.

No magical blood clots.

OK, there IS a story behind that... a magical story about the magic...you know.

A few weeks ago, the Chief, kiddos, and I hopped, skipped, and jumped over to Orlando for a day at Epcot.

I'm in the ladies room in England, bend over to grab my britches (remember I DID live in the boonies for a while and we still say "britches" from time to time)

but I digress.....

OK,

Where was I?

Oh! In a merry old stall in jolly old England o'er Epcot way.

As I go to grab me knickers.

OK, I was NOT wearing knickers.

They were jeans.

SIGH.

So, I bent over to grab my jeans and smacked my eye on a hook in the stall that I did not see before the removal of said britches, knickers (not), jeans. It HURT! Not simply my pride, but my eye too!

I staggered back to the Rose & Crown (after washing my hands of course), rubbing my eye and my dignity.

That was a Saturday.

The next day arrives and brings with it a terribly ITCHY eye (for those of you who know where this is going.... SHHH)

ZIP

IT

MEAN

IT

OK, I am at work and doing everything I can NOT to touch my eye which now has a big blister on the lid, and oozing a bit.

Yep

Tuesday morning? I wake up and the eye is matted shut. Ick.

The chief drives me to a walk in clinic where I am pronounced in possession of a magical case of pink eye and some good natured ribbing about picking up a "magical" infection and them being fresh out of pixie dust cures.

Only in Florida!

So keep your eyes off of those bathroom hooks.....wherever they may be!

Hello,

I am new to the DISboards and I have so enjoyed reading all the posts about your adventures on the different Disney cruises! We went on the 4 day cruise a couple years ago after spending time at WDW. We had a blast! There was 13 of us. My husband and I, my oldest daughter, her husband and my two

granddaughters, my middle son and his girlfriend, my youngest daughter and her best friend, and my youngest son. My oldest son who lives in NYC flew down to go on the cruise with us. Something magical happened on our Disney cruise!! My oldest son hooked up with my middle daughter's best friend and they have been together since! So I always remind them that magical things

happen at Disney!! My very favorite of all was Castaway Cay. I would be happy to just go there!! Anyway, reading all your stories makes me want to book another one right now!!

I have just spent ALL day reading your trip report!!! (I LOVE reading finished reports all at one time!!) Of course, I had to take breaks, pick up ds, take him to golf practice, make dinner, go to the store...but in between all that I managed to really enjoy your trip report!!!

I was so glad Kyle pulled it out in the end and made it such a magical trip for you.

I miss the Tampa Bay area. We just moved this past July from St. Petersburg/Clearwater to Alabama to be near my sick father. I was born in FL and REALLY miss it!!!! (plus miss those wonderful day trips to visit the Mouse!!) We are big time Bucs fans!!! We had season tickets for years (this year we missed the cut off date to pay for them...I"m so bummed!!! I still wanted to fly down for a game or two if possible...and just sell the other tix!!)

I hope you are still enjoying the area and are settled in a new home and jobs by now!

I really love the Sand Hill Cranes all over the place. Several couple that hang out around our neighborhood have babies now. Too sweet!

We stayed in the building right next to where the fire was. The palapa that covered the restaurant was being rebuilt while we were there. They are still using the service entrance instead of the main for everything until rebuilding is completed.

It was an amazing trip! I'm keeping my eye on airfare trying to catch another deal there.

We had a superior room, all inclusive, about a 30 second stroll to the sand. The pictures were taken right there at the resort, the turtle pics were taken about a 10 minute easy stroll just down the beach off the resort in Akumal Bay. I swam beside a surfacing turtle and reached out to pet him/her and just kind of got this weird feeling that while the turtle wasn't afraid of me, he/she didn't want me to have a touch, so I didn't. Funny, as I've always wanted to touch a sea turtle in the wild.

Now the urge is gone. The ray I snagged a picture of was very menacing. I've never seen one that looked so dangerous!

For four nights in an all inclusive superior room (air conditioning!!!), I think I spent $700 for the two of us.

The food at the buffet left a lot to be desired, but the restaurants there had great food.

It was absolutely worth it! We should have stayed longer.

I think I peeled 4 times I was so sunburned!

BTW... it took 3 weeks of me and mom to make them at night... very good mother daughter time... sometimes we even came up for air...

If you want to make them... use Shultz's water crystals and use only 1/8 of a tsp for each pocket if you make 4 pockets which is what I did... Best if you keep in your fridge... just throw into water to refresh... can be dryed out and taken wherever... I love to throw them in the cooler if I'mgoing anywhere... especially in the ice water... kept them in my ice cooler on the ship for each day... worked out great.... :thumbsup2

Excellent! We are looking at April/May next year. 5-7 nights! We want to check out Xcaret a day or two and heard it's close by.

One more question...did you call and book directly or through a TA?

OK...two questions....Did you have to make reservations in the regular restaurants?

Remember the winter ice sculptures during the annual winter festival? Those were really neat!

LOL At one point, I was living in a house right across the street from them!
Very cool!!!
Tis a small world. I didnt think any one knew Saranac Lake even existed, let alone been there!

Hey - Did you ever get your camera back? If you already said and I missed it, I apologize. I kept waiting for the post that said it showed up in the mail a week after you got home!

I booked through a travel agent website, want me to PM you the info?

We're doing he Xcaret excursion for our cruise!!! I can't wait to snorkel the underground freshwater river. I'm trying to find a strobe for my underwater digital camera housing.

No reservations needed for the buffet. For the restaurants, you book your reservation at 10:30am the morning of the day you want the reservation for dinner.

Now why didn't I think of that idea??? Just fold in the middle to get your midpoint sew a line then go out a couple of inches fill the pockets and sew it a bit more... do again and you're done!!! :woohoo:

(note to self for next year... go for Lovable's idea!!!)

Our Disney cruise is in 13 days! Just a couple days after that for Xcaret.

I'm torn between Vegas and Akumal in January.

I would love to go in May as well!

Have a great trip! We have a RCCL cruise coming up in November so I know how excited you must be leaving in 13 days!

Actually we are going to plan a short Vegas trip, but not until after our May trip. My DH won a Southwestern Airlines Gift cert yesterday during our inventory. They had raffles. What a way to get people to show up for inventory!

That Blue Cenote looks beautiful! We did a lot of walking last trip. We walked to the pueblo, we walked to La Buena Vida on Half Moon Bay, and we took the collectivo and went to Xcaret park. This was at the height of the swine flu and no one was in Mexico! We wanted to do the ATV excursion to one of the cenotes, but they just didn't have the people to go.

I check the web cam every day still. We'll be going May 8-16th and staying at CRT in Xpu Ha this time, but taking a day trip or two to Akumal Bay. Those mango margarita's at the Lol Ha are calling me! ABR is going through a lot of renovations right now, but I'd love to go back there in the future.

I have read a lot of trip reports of people that do the whale shark swim. It's not at the time of year we would be going though.

Can't wait to get back. It just started raining here and it's suppose to be non-stop for 7 days or so. Luckily we were out this morning before it started. We went to the Disneyana Collectibles show and spent $$$ on pins!

I read that CRT was great too!

OK, no promises, but I'll run it by the chief and see if he wants to go in May too!

I read that ABR lost its lease and is under original ownership and undergoing big renovations.

I loved the margaritas at Lol Ha too! Did you ever eat at Turtle Bay? GREAT breakfast! Mmmm!

You need to go too!

Then we can plot another disney cruise too!

That's one thing I regret is not eating out more often. But...since we paid AI at ABR we figured we better eat it! We almost booked at the Hotel Akumal Caribe this time, just to eat out more, but CRT just has so much more going for it right now. HAC will be on another trip. Oh how I wish I could afford two vacations a year!

I'm still working on DH for Akumal.

I burned SO bad the first day there. I'm going to bring MUCH stronger sunblock next time.

Did you know Benadryl worked great for my sunburn?

I still have tan lines from my Akumal sunburn.

I still had a pretty dark tan when we went on our October 2008 Disney cruise too!

Speaking of Benadryl...I had to use it on our trip too! We went to Xcaret and it was so hot and the sun was burning down on my legs. I used some of the ECO friendly sunscreen and it wouldn't rub in right, so I went into one of the bathrooms and mixed it with water to soothe my legs and after a few hours I had this dark red itchy rash all over my legs. We watched the show and just as the first aid location was closing we got there in time to get some Benadryl tablets, and I had some Benadryl spray back at the hotel. (just in case of jelly fish) What a relief....but you know.. that rash was so ugly and dark red for a week after our trip.
