My dh and I were talking this morning and he asked me to plug in his...(he was half asleep and couldn't think of the word)... and I said your ECV. He said, "What?" I said, " Your scooter, your Jazzy". He said, "yeah, what does ECV stand for? Nevermind, tell me later, I'm going back to bed." So I got to thinking and I don't know what ECV stands for. Just from reading the disabilities boards I knew it was a electric scooter. So... what does ECV stand for?

It's actually Electric Convenience Vehicle.
Don't ask me why they named it that because I don't know. Obviously it was a convenience to the people who named it, rather than a necessity.

Electric Convenience Vehicle. A name that helps perpetuate the attitude that people who use them use them because they are lazy and don't really need them. Really ticks me off. Should be Electric Conveyence Vehicle. Or just call it an electric scooter or an EMD (Electric Mobility Device)
Btw a Jazzy is not an ECV but a powered wheelchair (PWC) I use a Jazzy 1103. I will not let castmembers refer to it as an ECV and am very clear on that. It changes the perception from something that is used for convenience to something that is necessary for living a full life.
