I just sent an email politely, but firmly, requesting that the kilt removal idea be thrown aside immediately. I don't know how much good it will do but I hope I added my 2-cents worth to a mass emailing from Off Kilter fans letting the powers-that-be know that the fans think the kilts should stay.

Okay, I've emailed them too. I sat and carefully constructed a rational argument about keeping bagpipes and kilts together and respectfully representing Canada.
Fingers crossed. ;)
Has the change taken place yet and will someone post pictures if it does?
I sincerely hope it never happens.

Supposedly in about a month or so. The emails we're sending will hopefully have an impact, and they'll reconsider this unwise decision. The more emails and letters that they get, the better our chances are of keeping them kilted.
Is anyone going to see them at the Indy Irish Fest?

I just found the following reply to the email I sent last week. Hopefully, the "appropriate leadership" will listen to the fans and forget about taking away the kilts. If anyone hasn't yet sent an email, please consider doing so. The more people they hear from, the better the chances the kilts will stay!
I wonder if the moderators would allow a post about the kilt issue to stay on the main board? I think a lot more people would see it there than in this sub-forum.

Tickets are $13/day at the gate, so I don't know where the $48 figure comes from. You can get in free Friday from 4:30-5:30, and Sunday before 11:30 if you bring 3 non-perishable food items for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank: http://indyirishfest.com/festivalinfo/festivalinfo.html

I printed the schedule as shown on their site (you had Friday and Saturday's times switched), and then I looked at the PDF dated 8/16. Since the Saturday time on that schedule is 15 minutes earlier, I'd rather arrive early and be wrong than late and wrong!

I got my call back from WDW, and mostly from what she didn't say, the plan is still muddling along with them. Usually, the people who call are at least willing to listen, but she kept coming back with a pat script of something like . . . Sometimes things need to change and it's not always a bad idea . . . I asked her if she had ever seen them and she said she had and they had so many fans, etc. Guess they need to be overwhelmed with emails and letters to rethink this very bad "idea." Off to write to Mr. Igor, etc.

The Indy Irish Fest was great although I only got to see Friday and Saturday because my husband wanted to be home to watch the Colts play. Grrr.
Anyway, Danny Flores was there on keyboard and Jason was playing fiddle along with Jamie, Mark, Randy and Scott. The audience was huge, and they loved OK. There were a lot of people lined up afterwards to buy shirts and CDs. There were so many people watching that Jason was taking photos of the audience while they were warming up. It was a pretty impressive showing! They were the Headliner Band, and none of the other ones had 1/10the people watching.
Needless to say, the guys were pumped and put on a great show. The encore for the first night was Born to Be Wild, and they were. The jokes were flying. Scott was out in the open, and those drumsticks were a blur. I'm so glad I went. I saw fellow OK fans whom I previously met in WDW from Ohio, Orlando, and Albuquerque, NM! A good time was had by all!

I know he could have watched it in Indy, but his back was really, really hurting, and he did record the first two shows for me, so I had to cut him some slack. If they come next year, I may have to leave him at home.

Jamie does, indeed, have a red kilt to match with the socks and the new curtains which are . . . . red. Supposedly, this all represents a cabin, which is why they have a canoe in the rafters? The front posts have some painting on them which is supposed to be trees.
My daughter says we need a piece of software that we don't have if we are to put it on youtube, and I think she said it was expensive. She does a lot with computers and photos and stuff like that, so I guess she knows what she is talking about OR doesn't want to do it.:confused3

This is just a short little video, but here's a peek at the new uniforms and at the changes to the stage.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z7yHUMgda4
That little step-down area in front of the regular stage is pretty cool, it gives the boys a little more room to interact with the audience. Jamie in a red kilt is very hard for me to get used to, after 13 years in the blue one. I don't know why they had to change the canvas panels that roll down from tan to red, seems redundant. The canoe in the rafters is interesting. They have sort of closed in the back of the stage, which is okay in the cooler months, but I hope they can open it up for a breeze in the summer. The red socks and the new shirts? Whatever. IMHO, a little overkill with the red.
Anyway, just a few observations.

We tried about 75% of the food booths and really enjoyed the choices this time. You do have to listen close to detect that it is Jamie. At least I think it's Jamie. We had such a good time watching them this past trip. I took our cd's and were able to get them to sign each one. I don't know why the photos do not appear. I thought I did it right. I'll have to try again. Anyone have any ideas? How was your trip Nancy?

Absolutely 100% it is Jamie singing on Dark Island.
This was confirmed years ago, when it first came out, in the long gone Off Kilter newsletter that used to be mailed out to subscribers.

Yes, it's very RED - but I like it! I've gotten used to the new shirts, too. Considering what their costumes could've looked like - I am satisfied.

Thanks for warning me about the red kilts! I would have been totally shocked when I got down there in a few weeks! I'm not really digging the maple leaf tee shirts with them. Kind of weird. But, if they are selling the t-shirts, I might want one! Is that hypocritical enough of me? :lmao: I can't wait to get there and see Off Kilter again! Last time we were there Jamie wasn't there and it just wasn't the same with the fiddle guy trying to fill in. (sorry, I don't know the fiddler's name)

They've always worn red kilts - except Jamie. His was blue and green.
I love it when a fiddle player is there, but I wish he and Jamie were there at the same time, rather than one or the other. I've heard 3 different fiddle players (Jason, Jordan, and Mike), and all are excellent.

Being from Canada, we sat down to listen to them a few years ago (at Epcot) for "a good laugh", thinking it would be awful and that it would make Canadians look even more "foreign" in the eyes of everyone else. We actually really liked them!! So the next year, my DH ended up having the worst flu known to man throughout our whole trip, but managed to make it out to our Le Cellier ADR, and we got to listen to them before dinner. We still don't know what it was, but after hearing them, he felt a whole ton better, so we were able to actually have a good night out that night!!!! So now, DH calls them his "saviour", and tells people that they "saved him from death" one year. HAHA!! Just a funny little story...

I love Off-Kilter and make time to see them every trip, but last time in April of 2010 the piper was gone and they had a fiddler instead....just not the same. Now with the British Invasion gone, I am really hoping Off Kilter is back to "Normal"!

Yes, Jamie the piper is there. Since the band plays 7 days a week, they have various subs that fill in for the original members on their days off. I've always found the subs to be very talented musicians that do a great job filling in. I have to agree with you though, that the band just isn't the same without Jamie and his pipes! :)
