I know this is the Orlando and attractions board but we are going to have a few extra days of vacation (thanks to lack of availability on a Skyacution deal). We are driving from Massachusetts and would like to spend some time in Williamsburg. I see lots of deals on line for time share tours in that area. Has anyone taken one? WE are looking at one through Fairfield Inn for two days and park tickets etc for 99.00. I know this is a steal but I just want to be sure that I am not dealing with a Westgate situation. I know there are Westgate tours but there is NO WAY I would ever take one. Anyone know of any good hotels in the area that are not an arm and a leg?
How about any good restaurants that are out of the ordinary chain types?

I know they offer tours of Marriott and RCI properties, but you can also rent units. We've done this many times and our favorite is King's Creek Plantation. They have a website. There are several newer chain hotels that are nice...Hampton Inn & Suites Richmond Road, Homewood Suites, Holiday Inn Express and Hilton Garden Inn. Many of the hotels that were really nice, now need renovation. We recently returned from the Marriott Kingsmill and were disappointed. Bathroom was moldy and room needed a serious cleaning. If you like Colonial Williamsburg (you can try the Colonial Taverns) and there is a very nice restaurant called the Trellis in Merchants Square. Busch Gardens has one called the Whaling Company.

What time of year are you going? I have gotten great timeshares thru skyauction for Williamsburg in the off season.
I used to live there. Our favorite restaurant is Guiseppes. Located in the Food Lion Plaza on Richmond Rd on the way to the Outlet shops. Another good local place is The Back Fin for seafood (off the beaten path on Strawberry Plains Rd).

I live in Yorktown. Have you checked out the Great Wolf Lodge? It is pretty cool. As a PP said The Trellis in Merchant Square is wonderful as is the Fat Canary. We love Marizio's at the Williamburg Marketplace on Rt60 and for a real treat, but $$$ Le Yaca in the Kingsmill Shops-both right down the road from Busch Gardens. BTW, BG new coaster is suppose to open in a few months-The Griffon!!
