does anybody think that Disney will offer any kind of discount? I, unfortunately, did not get the 40% code so if they don't give the free dining, I am hoping for something...I am already booked at the CR at full rack rate:scared:

I would assume that some sort of discount would be made available. They still have to target that time of year and bring people in. We'll wait and see for now I guess!popcorn:: popcorn:: popcorn:: :rolleyes1

I was speaking to a CM this afternoon I was trying to add a room to a ressie I had made in Dec. when I was there. It was the bounce back plan with free dining, well she said that I could not add a room:sad2: but for me to wait because she was sure Disney was going to offer the free dining plan for around the same time they did last year, which is the time I am booked and I could just add a room then. I don't know if it will happen but she sounded pretty positive:thumbsup2 Lets all hope for spme pixie dust!!:wizard:

If everyone already made their reservations will they offer you the free dining on the present reservation or do you have to cancel and re-book?

You can call and add the free dining to your existing reservation.

Technically, you'll be cancelling your existing reservation & re-booking with the new promo. Like any promos/discounts (40%, AAA, Free Dining, etc), there are only so many rooms available at each resort. So there may be the chance that your originally booked resort/dates may not be available with the new promo.

This happened to us the first year of free dining. Last year, I was watching these boards for rumors/confirmations of the free dining so I was able to contact my TA right away & we were able keep our dates and resort!! Just a FYI...

Disney has offerred some kind of discount for late August through September, the last 3 years in a row according to mousesavers. Maybe even more than that since mousesavers only goes back to 2004. I think they will offer something. Actually I was there in August in 2003 with the 7 for 4 package in August, so at least 4 years of consistant discounts.

We went with free dining in November 2005 (I think around the 8 -13th). Last year, did the free dining go into November? Most people are talking about Aug/Sept...:confused3

I may have to book a long weekend in Nov if we can eat for free :yay:

Nope, free dining didn't go into November either year, when you went in Nov 2005 you got the great "heavily reduced" dining plan. We went then, too, and it wasn't as cheap as going with "free dining", but still a REALLY nice discount. They haven't offered that since.

What if you have your reservations already
for the time that the free dining comes out
do you then have to cancel these and start over?
that doesn't make any sense because you are already
in the time that it is offered.
Wouldn't it be easier just to add
Free Dining on to the plan?:headache:

See my post above...but yes, technically you have to cancel & re-book. IF free dining becomes available & you already have reservations booked, I'd HIGHLY suggest you call the CRO or your TA to do this!

I was told that they will just add the free dining but you have to call with the code. Can you make your PS before you get the dining? I was told I could make them with my resort ressies even if I don't have the free DD.

This is why you book the new deal first, then cancel your old one after you make sure it is indeed a better deal.

We've added the free dining the last two years after already booking our resort, and we didn't have to cancel and rebook, they just added the plan on to our existing reservation. You can make your dining reservations 180 days prior to your arrival, and if the free dining isn't offered and you don't want to pay for it or pay oop for these meals then you will have to cancel your dining reservations.

Yes. Everyone is allowed to make PS 180 days out. Doesn't matter if you have the DD plan or not.

The people who stay offsite want to eat at TS also. They just don't plan to eat everyday in a TS.

I was told that if you are keeping the same hotel reservation, that you will not need to make a new reservation to add free dining. (This was about a month ago with a CM that was smart enough to know not to give me the infamous "40 % off code". However, if you need to change your reservation in any way (new location) then you may need to make a new one an cancel the old one.

Keep those fingers crossed!!

I think it depends on the room type too. I remember people could keep the same resort but they had to change room types in order to get the free dining. WL comes to mind.

Just remember that if they do offer the free dining plan your room will still be at rack rate prices. Only the dining plan will be for free

I don't think it was so much of whether it was allowed or not. I think it was more of what was available. They only offer a certain number of room categories per discounted rate. I do believe the discounts for standard rooms did exist, but I think they were slim pickin's. I actually booked POP and had a wonderful time but did inquire about WL right when the Free Dining opened. No go for a standard room. We are booked at WL this year, woods view, so we will see what happens. We are going regardless.

Re history of Fall discounts. We've gone in August every year since 2003. The only year we did not get a discount was 2005. 2003 had 7 for 4, 2004 had 7 for 5, and 2006 had free dining. I'm worried that they will not offer anything because of the fact that they already have a lot of reservations. Also, it seems that they former low season of the fall is now really crowded. People like the weather in FL in Sept and Oct.

Not to mention that some schools in the South, we are in GA, have a fall break the first and second weeks of October, when other schools have barely started. That is why we pick the first week.

Were the 7 for 4 and 7 for 5 Visa offers?? Just curious.

We went in 2005 with the free DD. We stayed at POP had had no problems. I think the problem arises when there are no more standard rooms. We were initially going to book at WL in 2006 but had to change plans but when we did inquire, they said that it was only for standard rooms. We inquired about a suite at WL as well as ASM but were told that the free DD was not for suites. My DH really wanted to try WL and this is the closest thing to camping I am willing to attempt :lmao: . It will all work out in the long run, we're just happy to be going.

If you have a room only reservation and want to take advantage of free dining if it comes out, then yes, you would have to cancel and rebook a package. You can't add dining to a room only reservation.

If you have a package with room and tickets and your resort and room type are available (with free dining) for your dates, then they can just add the free dining to your package and you wouldn't have to rebook. If they have the resort available but not the same room category (like waterview or lagoon view vs. standard view), that is when you would have to make a whole new reservation and cancel your existing one. I also believe that if you have a discount on the room portion of your package, like the 40% off, then you would also have to cancel and rebook under a new reservation.

I'm hoping for free dining too, but if they don't, we're still going.
