When do you pay for your resale?

Quick question. When you buy resale do you have to send a check for the resale amount with the paperwork or do you write a check at closing time?

Not sure about all policies for resales but there is usually a deposit (20% I think) required with the signed contract and then the balance is due before the close of escrow.
