I'm so glad to have someone else posting! Have you been on the western cruise before? We did the eastern, but this will be our first time to some of these ports.
Kim
We did the Eastern in 2006 so this will be our first Western as well.

Hi Guys,
I booked this cruise on 11/1/06. We were on the April 1-8, 06 Eastern and LOVED IT. We take 2 cat 10s and the SPH were all open when I booked BUT older DDs wanted our Deck 7 cabins so we got them again. (LOVED THEM --the SPH would have been fun and in hind-sight, easier for our younger 2 DDs I'm sure (clubs))
Girls will be 16 3/4, 14 3/4, 10 1/2 and 8 by 5 days.
We have not told the DDs, in-fact I don't know if DH realizes I've really booked:rotfl: I told him we had to go that week. With the Magic going to LA for the summer and we can only sail during peak times AND DD#1 pointed out that we must sail while she is still a "kid"! That is the ONLY week. He did not disagree SO I TAKE THAT AS APPROVAL. :thumbsup2 He worries about that much money that far out "What might happen between 11/1/06 and 4/5/08:confused3?
ANYWAY - happy planning--we are returning to WDW after 3 years away and I can not get excited because I am soooo excited about the 08 cruise.
Hey Melanie, we were on the April 1-8, 06 Eastern, too! I am excited about trying the Western although I did like the extra sea day. We were on deck 2 last time in a cat9 but this time we are doing deck 6 and a cat 6. I am very excited!

We just booked a SPH cabin for our first ever DCL cruise! We've been on Carnival before, but decided that this is the perfect age for DCL. We are very excited! I've been to Cozumel for a vacation, but never as a cruise stop. Never been to Grand Cayman or Castaway Cay.
Looking forward to our trip already!!

Sounds like what we did for our first cruise Pooh Mania.
Quick story - My sis sailed DCL in 2000 just after DD#4 was born. Wanted to too. 4 DDs:scared:
 Wait until DD#4 is @6. April 1, 2006 she was 6 by a day (3/31/2000). It was great.
She will remember it and loved the programs - could not keep her out.
DD#3 is a bookworm and that age group goes to the sport's deck a lot. She did not stay as much - usually a couple of hours at a time. She will be 10.5 next time and is pretty mature NOW. I think I will give her sign-in/out "rights" to prevent me from running back and forth. We will have RULES about where and when BUT . . .anyway.
Welcome aboard! Words can not describe DCL.
We did Eastern and LOVED IT. We'd be sailing this week if it were Eastern again. DH and I spent a week on St. Thomas this past June. The VIs are incredible. We visited St. John and the British VIs too. I really was hoping this would be an Eastern week.
We went to Cancun 1986:lmao:. I would like to take the girls over to the mainland BUT I think it is too long a trip.

Good to "meet" some fellow cruisers. I just booked the cruise and I'm already obsessed with researching all about it. :-)
We were torn about spending the extra money for DCL versus other lines, but we figured this was the perfect age to go. (The kids will be DD 7 and DS 6 at cruise time.) We are thinking of going to Grand Cayman for a regular vacation at some point, so a cruise stop is a perfect way to scope it out in advance. And I loved Cozumel when I vacationed there many years ago.

WELL, WE LEAVE ONE YEAR FROM TODAY . . .ANYBODY PACKING YET???:lmao:
I hung a paper chain with 365ish links in my kitchen today. Black, white, red and yellow. We will tear off 7 links each Friday or Saturday until next April.
AND I am wondering how "our" cruise is selling. I play on the DCL web site a lot making up pretend cruises. We have CAT 10s and 5 or 6 SPH cabins are gone from deck 5, but the next popular deck 7 cabins (there are 9 CAT 10s on deck 7) - only 3 are gone AND I HAVE 2 OF THEM:confused3 . I am watching for any price change. popcorn:: :surfweb: If it is not selling well after next week I think they may drop the price a little. A girl can dream.
OK, "tomorrow" Key West, see you there!

Me again,
This is an early call for one of my DDs. On our first cruise she did not LOVE the Club enough to stay for long stretches. NOW I THINK it was because she did not have a buddy. SO I am looking for girls, (or boys), in her age/type. She has a fall Bday so she will be 10 1/2 but finishing 4th grade. She likes sports but is not great at sports. She LOVES TO READ. She reads a book a day.:coffee: (Drinks coffee too) She loves High School Musical and most anything on the Disney Channel. She is probably a bit tame as tweens go, not into  being all grown up even though she has teen sisters.
That is her bio. If anyone joins our group who has DD that might be a fit let's get them together.

Hi Guys,
We just booked our 2 rooms as well. First time cruising and from what I hear from our neighbor (hi KimLam) we are going to have a blast!
We have 4 kids. Ages at time of cruise will be DD 10-1/2, DS 8-1/2, DD 6-1/2 and DD will almost be 4. Mom24princesses--our daughters could be twins! She will be finishing up 5th grade (late august bday), loves books but would rather have hot chocolate than coffee, and loves HS Musical. Are you sure we aren't talking about the same kid?
The family is extremely excited for this vacation - I think I really scored some points this time!

I'm glad this group is heating up. I'm sure this cruise is going to be a blast. For those of you new, I wanted to post a useful link so you can view past cruise navigators. disneycruiser dot info. (Can't post the actual link as it'll get deleted).
Mom24Princesses - You sound as Disney crazy as I am!!! Please let us know if prices drop.
dwick - Yay! Our kids are probably going to go crazy next year in the March/April timeframe due to the excitement.
As far as packing goes - I just unpacked from our last cruise. That was soooo hard. It would be *wonderful* to live on the Disney ships. My husband, Brian wants to do a 14 day, but I can't swing that schedule-wise. At least next year my packing list shouldn't include diapers!!...fingers crossed

This might work well!:thumbsup2 It would be great if she found (a) freind(s). She just did not feel like she had any and while we love our girls, she was hanging with Mom and Dad a little too much. We tried to eat lunch alone the last at sea day but she could not be shaken off!

I'll be checking:thumbsup2 . We are all a little obsessed BUT DD almost 14 is annoyed. "Mom, YOU ARE taking that stuff down before my birthday!!" I don't think I mentioned I printed off signs (like door signs) for each day 4th - 12th and posted them in the kitchen announcing what we'd be doing on that date a year into the future.

We have second seating but on the waiting list for first. I've heard good and bad for both seatings, but since this is our first cruise we don't really have anything to compare to.
Mom24princesses...would you like to get the girls writing to each other? It may be a little early to start, but if they have a few months to get to know each other (via email or letters) then we may have a better chance of them leaving us alone for a few peaceful moments on board :woohoo:

I don't remember the lobster at Palo. Was that because you ate there on "Lobster Night"? BUT I DO REMEMBER THE FILET. Had it a brunch AND dinner.:thumbsup2 I could eat filet every night almost. Glad to hear there is a filet like cut a AP now. I did not like any dinner choices at AP.

We had early last time and have early this time. We live in the Eastern time zone and late is too late for us. When I am working the alarm goes off at 4:30A.M. It is tough to cut the afternoon short to get to dinner.:confused3
We like to get up early and enjoy the ship when many are still sleeping (I'm talking 8:00). We were in bed most nights by 11:00.

Oh, gosh, YES. School isn't out here until the last week in June! 7 snow days this year that they didn't plan for...ugh! We're swamped too so most definitely not until summer. Thinking good thought that you don't have to postpone!

Welcome aboard. It is probably a good thing you have 2nd seating. We sailed April 1-8, 2006 and several times CD Brent mentioned that there were over 1,100 children on board. A good few large areas have Spring Break the first week of April every year. Ours was 4/1/06, was 3/31/07, BUT alot jump a week with leap-year next year to 4/5/08. Now many places have SBs at many other times too! One reason SB is cheaper than Prez. Week.
ANYWAY---Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome! I am well aware of spring break....I work at a school. We were on the Wonder this year April 1-5. Lots of kids, yes, but really not a problem. Our SB is always the first full week of April.
We have early seating this time as we did last time. I am surprised that early is full already. The cruise must be selling better than though?

I think it is odd that first seating is full also. I may ask Sue Ellen or someone to check into what is going on. It doesn't seem like we can be that full already and not have more people posting here.

Hi everyone! It's a beautiful sunny day here in the Pacific Northwest! It made me think about our cruise. :cool2: I can't wait!!
I gathered all of the details that have been posted so far and added it to post #1 for easy reference. If there is anything in that post that you would like deleted, added, changed etc. please pm me.
Work has been crazy busy so I haven't been online as much lately. I feel like I need to start planning though! I'm doing some spring cleaning and found the pirate costume I plan to put my son in for the trip. I bought it on our last trip to WDW. He will make an adorable blond pirate boy! LOL! Anyone else planning to dress up for pirate night? We dressed up on our last trip and it was really fun. pirate:

Mom24Princesses - You weren't offered lobster? I don't think Palo had a lobster night - I think was just part of the offering. Maybe they don't have it anymore. It's been a couple of years since we have eaten at Palo's. That would be really sad! It was sooooooooooooooo good!

Hi all!!!
We just booked this week for this cruise. Finally looked at DD's school schedule for next year and their spring break is this week instead of around Easter so we checked on pricing. We were on the April 6th Western this year.
Sailing is Me (Mona), DH aka scduckman (Tom), and DD (Catherine) 13 3/4 at cruise time.

Sorry, we've been on vacation the past week and didn't have a chance to respond. Yes, that's a current picture from our cruise 4/7/07.
The nice thing about booking just now is that we only have 10 months to wait. For our cruise last April we booked 18 months out so we could get a SPH. That was a long time to wait. Especially because it had been almost 5 years since we had cruised with Disney. We certainly missed the Disney Magic and the Disney pixie dust.

Hello and Welcome!!
Now that the 4th has past I am collecting summer stuff for the cruise. I am looking at sundresses, etc. My youngest is easy to buy for. The others are a little more tricky. I went looking for "a little balck dress" and found a "little Navy dress" that was a perfect fit. I guess Navy is my new black. I am stocking up on things that are harder to find in March/April. (ie favorite sunscreen)
We will set aside things that might work for the cruise when we pack up summer clothes. (Living in the south that means around Halloween.)
dwick We might get those two girls together now!?
My sis and her fam just got off a Western with Carnival and my DCousin and fam just got off their 2nd 4th of July Wonder in a row so I am very ready for my turn!!

We are in South Fayette County.
We did this cruise in 2006 (Spring Break). DH and I are both teachers, we had/have to leave after school on Friday. We left @4:30?? We drove to Ocala arriving @10:30. We got up Saturday @7:00 and were at ship by 10:00. We plan a repeat.

Hi jk8...
That would be great! my DS wound up spending more time in the Club than Lab last time - he was being a great big brother and trying to help his sister adjust to the club:love: So this cruise I know he will be spending much more time in the Lab. He really loves the Game Shows and activities, too - like the Vegetable Car Race, etc. so he shares his time - LOL!
It would be great for the kids to have some friends to hang out with!

Wow I am hoping I did not kill this thread! Perhaps we're all so busy but I think getting to know eachother is important.....If the kids have friends to hang out with then it will leave a little adult time for us:)
I've sailed Disney Wonder 2x and this is my first time on Magic. I am looking forward to the experience. I will be in cabin 5627 a Cat.11. It was just too expensive to get something more than that. I had a Cat 8 for my 4 days though....I'm definitely going to miss the window.
Our first day on the ship....I plan to just get something to eat and let Josh go right to the pool until our stateroom is ready. I love being an early boarder. Our dinner is second seating which is a first for us. The main dining seemed to be too early. We were tireed after excursions and Josh would fall alseep during the shows....Now the shows are earlier and he'll eat after which will help keep him awake. The great thing is that he can get something to it by the pool earlier.
This time around I'd love to go to the night clubs...never done that because I had to stay with my son....Now mom's coming along and if I meet you all...we can go out in the evenings and have a drink and get to know one another. I am a single mom so adult time for me is a must:)LOL...well hope to hear from some of you soon.

Hi,
I think you hit it on the head with we're all busy now that we are back in school. I have a DD who will turn 10 tomorrow. In fact I came to the computer to find another recipe for "Old-Fashioned Caramel Icing" that she requested and ended up on the DisBoards.:confused3 How does that happen?
ANYWAY - she'll be 10 in 6 months when we sail! She is just in 4th grade since the September Bday however. We seemed to always have a kid or two around and got little adult time last time too. I am putting my foot down this time and getting at least a little this go around.
Welcome!

Well I am looking forward to meeting all of you:)I am a teacher and my colleagues think traveling on spring break with more kids is not a vacation but I love kids. I teach high school...so I need some pampering....There is a good resteraunt by the pier called FishLips....let me know if anyone is up for dinner Friday night 4/4/07 if you are flying down into the area....I can arrange the reservations and we can meet before boarding. I did this last year and it worked wonders:)

Whats your daughter's name? I'll let JOsh know that he can expect a friend on the Magic...How do you feel about them checking themselves out...I am really hesitant about this when it comes to the lab...you can't always trust people...Talk to you all soon....

Same Here. I taught 7th grade for 10 years and this is my 12th year in 4th grade. DH taught High School for 8 years and is in year #14 teaching middle school. His greatest fear is that a student will end up on "our" cruise. In fact, I am not mentioning to him that I was told Friday that my former PTO president with 3 kids I've taught might be sailing with us SB! We teach in different systems and we've never taken our DDs to "our schools". This makes scheduling concerts, programs, etc, a nightmare, but we keep our professional and private lives separated.

Her name is Brittney. (she was born about 6 months before Britney S. hit the scene.) Being school teachers, it was always difficult to come up with names for our children. HOWEVER, if our last had been a boy, his name would have been Joshua! She lives for the Disney Channel. She is our best student, reads all the time, (Charlie Bones books this month), loves math and science, is not really into sports much, likes Karoke (every night in the shower:rolleyes1 ), dance:banana: , etc. Sounds like it might be a good match. We are early seating for dinner however. We caught some shows in the afternoon last time and I really liked taking them out of the evening schedule. She wants us to give her sign-in/out "rights" this go around BUT I can't decide. I think I will not at first. I can always allow her after we've been on board.

My older two will be 14 and 16 this go around. We did the Eastern 4/1/06. Girls were 14 & 12. They loved the activities offered. There were enough tweens 11-13ish that they made a sub group. Made the 12 yr-old happy to not be "in the club". They stayed in the Ocean Quest. This time she will be a real teen like your DD. The had a swim party late one night, a "prom". (that is what I recall - neither is home at the moment to ask. (16 ballet, 14 clarinet lesson))
10 mins until Prison Break - go to run!!!:cool1:

Hi. I think meeting at Fish Lips is a brilliant idea. dwick and my party probably won't we able to make it as we'll be driving down to the port the night before we sail after a day at Animal Kingdom. I'm not sure when we'll actually be getting to the port.
Anyone interested in gathering around 3pm onboard the day we sail?
Also - anyone interested in doing any kind of exchange - maybe postcards or something?

Hi everyone,
I have not been here in over a month. It has been a pretty busy school season. I am so looking forward to thanksgiving and then winter break because after that Spring Break and DCL here we come:)
I do agree that Fishlips is the place to be:) I wish you can make it. I know you're coming in from Animal Kingdom and definitely will be beat. But if anyone else is game for it. I can arrange it as the time gets nearer and that way our kids can meet and hit it off. I think meeting up by the Goofy Pool around 3 should be fun:) Hmmm we gotta come up with a theme for our group and magnets for our doors. Even t-shirts LOL!!!!
Well I hope to keep signing in here ever so often. I know by the time February hits....I'll probably be on here everyday to check in with everybody. HUGS!

Hi everyone,
Seems to be that the cruise is getting closer, ( we booked dec 4th '06) so ages ago !.
We would be very interested in meeting everyone but will be unable to meet the eve before, as we have booked 8 nights in Orlando pre-cruise.
3pm on cruise day sounds good though.
Carl (DH) and I are just trying to decide about Palo and excursions and which nights etc. We have booked the REAS package as this is a birthday trip for me.

I'm getting excited too.
We are near the 100 day mark. I'm counting 4/4 since that is the day we'll leave home. I don't count "today" and I don't count 4/4 so that means 100 days to go:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: .
I have started pre-packing. I put the summer stuff of mine I plan to carry in a bag in my closet - not all my summer stuff. I picked up some new stuff for youngest DD on sale at the end of the summer and I have it in a box in my closet. The others are harder to buy for in advance. I have all of DHs "tropical shirts" together in one place.
We have over $500 worth of points on our Disney Visa and still counting (paying off the cruise on 1/3 will add $65 more):thumbsup2 .
Key West--Trolley/Train tour on our own OR JUST WALK:confused3 ?
Cayman--Pirate Encounter!!:thumbsup2
Cozumel---Beach - forget which one - on our own - :beach:
Castaway Cay--hope to see SB this time around - nothing "extra".
On-line bookings in 2 weeks:banana:  !

It's not going to be long now! I definitely need to start packing. LOL! For our ship be sold out it is really weird that we don't have more people posting. I've been crazy busy with work and the holidays, but I hope to be on more frequently now that the relatives are gone.
Has anyone heard about a new pirate breakfast? I read a short paragraph about it on the Castaway Club website. There wasn't any information as to when it would start. It sounded cool though.

I'm making my final payment next Friday:) Woo hoo 1/4....then I'm planning to book the excursions:) I cannot wait...now its so real for me since I'm a teacher and our next big vacation is Spring Break. We start back on the 7th of January and I start my countdown on the board to spring break and disney cruise:) Josh's birthday is 1/10 and I'm planning to go to a Disney Park on the 13th...not sure if he wants Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom...I love Animal Kindgom so we'll see:)LOL..
Josh keeps asking me about all the kids going from this thread. He wants to make friends to hang with for sure...right now he's into singing/music/he plays basketball/love spiderman/did I tell you he wants to be a ship architect. He's collected over 25 ships...So getting to talk to the captain is going to be a big deal for him:) I just want some peace and fun...also love to make new friends to keep in touch with through the year. This is a treat for me. I graduate in June with my Masters in Ed Leadership so its gonna be my early gift:)

Paying for my cruise tomorrow on my Disney Visa. So glad I waited, as Disney just started a 3 month promotion where any amt in a month over $1200 on the Visa gets 5x the reward points!!! More spending money for onboard!
Everyone ready to make reservations on line Saturday at midnight?!?! When we went on our 4 day last year, I did not know reservations could be a problem, and did not rush. Still had no problem getting brunch and dinner at Palo. Hope its the same this time.

dmi188 - I guess you are right - it's not sold out. When I spoke to Disney they told me that it was booked pretty solid. I see on the web that they do have openings though.
Excursions - What is everyone planning to do? I don't think we'll do any though Disney. I'm thinking doing the Key West Trolley, swimming with dolpohins and 7 mile beach. Anyone been to 7 mile beach? Where should we ask the taxi to drop us?

Pirate Encounter in Grand Cayman
Stingrays at Castaway Cay

01-03-2008, 09:24 PM
I checked on some websites and noticed that the days we are in GC and Cozumel there are MANY other cruise ships in port... It looks like the busiest day in April at each port - like 7 ships each day. I am wondering how crowded the excursions are going to be and if I should stay with Disney, rather than try a private company.... Has anyone else noticed this?
NenaCruise
01-04-2008, 05:03 PM
I don't know about that...probably real crowded regardless if went with Disney or private company I think. I guess going private company in GC for the stingrays is probably better....

Our records indicate that you have either not paid for your cruise vacation in full or have not provided complete birthdate information for each member of your travel party. If a payment is still due, please apply payment now online or contact your travel agent.
To update birthdate information, you must first call a Disney Cruise Line representative at (800) 951-3532 or your travel agent to update your reservation information. In either case, please return to the My Disney Cruise section of disneycruise.com afterwards to continue making your cruise vacation plans online.
Same one? I am wondering if DU has me messed up somehow as I know I paid in full and they have our birthdates - they didn't change from last cruise!
So frustrating!

Don't just log out, close your browser (internet explorer) then start over fresh. It worked for me. This error message has been reported when making ressies before. It is NOT your info that is the problem.

I was getting another type of error message and had to restart my Explorer many times. It was frustrating though that I could only book up to 4 when there are 8 adults in our group and my friend was only able to book 2 and not 4 - does anyone know why that might be? We are new to the Castaway Club early booking and weren't able to get anything at the 75 day mark last time so thought I would ask here.
I did get dinner, brunch and high tea but not for everyone in our party so it wsa good and not so good for us :)
So glad many got exactly what they wanted - makes it worth being awake!!

Hi Everyone!
Sorry...wanted to ask opinions on some excurions...
Has anyone been to Grand Cayman before and if so...do you recommend one beach over another. I have read that there are excursions for Boatawain's Beach, Rum Point Beach & Seven Mile Beach. We have me, DH, DS-8, DD-5 so DH and I were just wondering if one of these is better for us to do. SInce we had the Double Dip at CC last cruise - we would really love to get another beach day in but just not sure where the best place is to do that. Seems to be alot to do in Key West so not there. Also, does anyone have an opinion on the Conch Train vs. the Trolley and do you recommend those.
Basically any information on excursions you can help with, would be greatly appreciated :)
THANKS SO MUCH!!! WOOO HOOOO - 89 days to go...88 until we head to FL!!!!! :yay: :cool1:

Hi all:) I guess the earliest I can get this resolved is tomorrow so I won't keep my hopes down. I'll look on the bright side Yonkers Girl ---YEAH 88 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok enough of that LOL....I've been to Grand Cayman and 7 mile beach is a must:) I am doing the Pirate Encounter this time for JOsh but the beach was pretty:) Mom's not going with us...she thought of meeting us when we finish the excursion so we can shop:woohoo:
I am doing the Coch Republic tour and Museum Package hopefully:)
I don't think there is a major difference between them.
You know there are rentals for electric cars---look like golf carts--daily ates range around $80 and you can drive yourself around Key West...I thought I would look into that sounds fun.
Yonkrs_Girl
01-06-2008, 11:45 AM
Thanks so much, Nena! We were thinking about the Electric Cards as well since it seems like a fun way to get around Key West and do some major exploring and not be locked into times, etc. We will most likely go with that in KW.
7 Mile Beach does sound very cool - so we may have to go with that! It looks like booking on GC is the better way to get around there, correct?
Good Luck with getting your stuff straightened out, Nena!
How old is Josh? I know you mentioned he may not stay in the clubs so was just wondering. My DD was 3 our first cruise and she had some issues adjusting there but as the cruise went on after the first 2 days - she was much better and with the pagers - it was great since I knew which message meant I REALLY had to go get her :-) My DS was 6 at the time so he would go back and forth and be with her a little to help her get used to it.
88 days to go - Can you tall I love the dancing banana & Jumping Smiley - LOL:yay:
NenaCruise
01-06-2008, 11:50 AM
I would book the GC 7 mile on the disney site:) Less complicated:)
Josh will be 10 next Thursday but he says he likes bonding time:) I am a single mom and work alot so I can understand but I told him that going to the Lab for some things will be lots of fun. He is interested but we'll see. I wanted to book a Palo brunch or tea on an at sea day...
I am keeping my fingers crossed...hugs:cheer2:

Thanks! It looked like booking stuff for GC was definitely the better way to go.
I totally understand how your son feels. My mom was a single mom and although I had my grandparents in the same house growing up - I cherished the time with my mom as she worked full time, too. And what a great place to bond - the Disney Magic! LOL!
Thanks for all the excursion advice! We will be booking something in the next week or so once we talk to the rest of our travel group. Take Care!

Nena, I hope you get it all resolved in the morning!
We are doing the trolley on our own at KW. We hear that it is right near port, and if you do it on your own, you can get on and off if you see something where you want to spend a little time. As long as you get back on and continue to go forward...one loop around, I guess. With Disney, they say you can't get off.
I know nothing of the beaches at GC, but I believe that Boatswain's is where the turtle farm is. I hear thats fun for the kids.
Guess I can go back to school tomorrow smiling...my Spring Break plans are set and its less than 3 months away!

01-06-2008, 02:12 PM
Jk8 :-)
I was able to see all of their names as well since we are all linked together, too but it would only let me book a table for 4 at the most - not 8 - for all of our group. It said that was all that was available! UGH!! We will see if they can make arrangements for us once we are on the ship but we are all ok with the way it worked out if not :-)
Thanks so much!
Has anyone ever done the Turtle Farm and/or Seven Mile Beach on their own at GC? The times don't work out very well to book both through Disney.

We're planning to do the Key West trolley on our own, 7-mile beach on our own and the dolphin experience on our own. Wish us luck! :-)
When I tried to book Palo etc. I had linked reservations, but it would only let me book a table for two, and couldn't start with the other couple as they are first timers. I also didn't see any of the manicure, hair and special port day spa offerings like the ladies morning. I guess we just book those when we get onboard?

I am sure there will be lots of questions popping up now that we are at the 88 day mark - wooo hoooo!!!!! (Hopefully they won't all come from me - HA HA HA!!!). Does anyone know if you can see the ship from all beaches on GC or is one better than the other? I would just love to have some photos of the ship while there so just wondering if there are great spots for that. I think we are going to do both KW and GC on our own with our cruise buddies. Looks like the guys may want to do the Pub Tour with free drinks & T-Shirt and then the girls and the kids will do something. Then the girls will go shopping while the guys take the kids :-)
Any GA families out there in the Woodstock/Marietta/Roswell area that would like to meet up before we head down to FL so the kids can meet and have a few friends before we board? My DS is 8 and DD is 5 :-)

Question for those of you who have done the brunc: the reservation says 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. Does that mean we show up at 11 and brunch lasts until 1:00 or that we will be assigned a specific time to be there in this time period at a later date?

Nena, from what I understand, they hold back some of the ressies for those who do not have internet, to book on board. Since you live in FL, perhaps you can get to the port early, board, and go directly to make Palo ressies. Or someone might change their mind. Doesn't hurt to check now and then. Hope you get what you want!! (wonder if a few more open up on the 75 day mark? Just wondering since first timers can't book til then.)

I agree...getting to the ship early may be your best chance or as DMI said - possibly checking back as some may cancle what they have. Same for us, last time we were 1st timers and they were gone on-line. I think that it is something like only 1/2 are available on-line. We got to port early and I went right to the Palo station after boarding. They had every day and time open. It took 2 minutes tops. Did you book your Palo dinner for later in the week? DS may have made good friends by then and not mind you attending dinner on your own. Either way I feel that you'll get a brunch time and Palo brunch is about as good as dinner.

Did you have any luck Nena? I didn't have any options - it showed that there were Brunch and Dinner on the initial page but once I went further to the dates/times page - it showed that there wasn't anything available. I'ts not a total loss since they have brunch and dinner booked with us but since they are a dating couple in their 40's without kids - I was trying to get them a few options to dine alone :-) They will try on the ship.
I was born and raised in Yonkers and moved to GA back in 1991 with the UPS Corporate relocation! Spent MANY weekends at the Raceway and hangin out at Cross County Mall. Used to work at the CC Square Mall when I was in HS. My mom was born in the Bronx and lived there until age 14 when they moved to Yonkers.
Hope you had luck with your ressies! CANNOT wait. It's been freezing here in GA for us. Snow twice in 4 days and now freezing rain - not our typical winter at all but for a northern girl (& my DH is from CT) - it's pretty cool!

What are fish extenders?
dmi188
01-23-2008, 04:00 PM
What are fish extenders?Beside each door on the ship, there is a fish...it is used to stick mail under. A fish extender is a set of pockets, for mail/message purposes, that is hung on the fish...thus, a fish extender. People take along treats and such and stick them in the fish extenders of others on their cruise, especially children.

My DD is 5 and would LOVE to have some friends to be with. We also have friends taveling with us and their DD is 6 as well. My DD didn't want to stay in the club much last time (Nov. '06) but she was not even 4 then so hoping that she will want to more this time. I have met up with AnnMarie3 and her DD is 4 and my DD said she would be excited to "show her the club" so maybe she can do the same with your DD.
We can plan to meet at the port or something if you are there early or near the pool after boarding, etc.
We can have them "write" back and forth to each other and can even send a photo if you want to. Send a PM if you would like to :-)
Cannot wait for the cruise!!!!! WOOO HOOO!!!!

I know how it is to want to be anonymous...I'm a high school teacher and it is probably a likely thing that ALOT of my students will be on this cruise since we all live 20 minutes away....but thats life. Trust me..they want to stay as far away from their teacher as possible....yuck!!!!!! :)
Neways, I enjoy meeting new people so I would love to do some gathering. It does not have to be for the whole cruise because obviously many of us have different excursions and so on. But it is nice to acknowledge people in passing and ask them how the cruise is going...etc.etc....
So on that note.....we can meet when we get on the ship or at the terminal to say hi and then for those that are castaway members...we can hook up at their party....my main concern is that my 10 yr old son has a friend(s) to hang with. I need some down time LOL........HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will be getting into town too late to get together Fri. night, but we would love to do the meet on the ship Sat.

Well I just got back from the $-store where I spent $120:lmao: on fish extender gifts:lmao: !
So I guess I am going to get organized and bag this stuff up boy/girl and by days. I am not sure how I will get it all there!
I was thinking that we should make a list of cabin numbers by deck and age/sex in each to make delivery easier.
I don't mind doing it using post #1. I just don't want to leave anyone off.
Like:
Deck 2 - sorted by cabin # order and by port and starboard and who is booked (at least DDorDS and age.)
Deck 5 - . . . .
Deck 6 - . . . .
I count more DDs than DSs which is good considering I found more DD stuff and was a little worried.
And a few good grown-up gifts. I'll fill in with candy if this does not cover everything.
NOW I HAVE TO MAKE OUR FISH EXTENDER!:rolleyes1
We will drive from South of Atlanta to Ocala Friday night and get to Port @10:00 Sat. morning. (worked great in 2006)
Then 4/12 we will drive back home.

I don't think we'll be doing the fish extender thingies. DH wants to be more under the radar.
No Palo left on the net. We'll have to try to book onboard. Looking now at making our excursion plans. It's hard to decide what to do on GC and Cozumel. We are just going to go it alone in Key West. We may do the eco-tour on CC.
Still haven't booked our hotel for the Friday night stay. We've done the Marriott, but we may try something different this time.

It is the date that they give you on the website that all your paperwork needs to be completed for online check-in...I think for our cruise it is 4/3, but double-check...once they close out the on-line check in, you would probably have to go to guest services as soon as you get on board to cancel...

Hi everyone,
I got to check out the new Disney outlet store at Discover Mills yesterday.
Much of the store is just like a regular Disney store, prices included.
They did have some really good deals, though.
The large, soft-bodied princess dolls were $5.25, originally $30.00. My dd (4) loves these dolls, as they are almost as tall as she is.
There was a good selection of other stuffed animals & toys for 60% off of the sale price.
Also a couple of racks of clothing everything $1.99. They had kids & adult sizes, mostly t-shirts & sweatshirts.
If anyone has any questions, I'll try and answer.
Have a great day,
Ann Marie

I may do the fish extenders, if someone can tell me how to make them. Any EASY instructions? I haven't sewed in years, literally!
Looks like so far we have a lot of people on 7 aft, pretty close to us. In fact, sunshine state kim's kids are our neighbors, it appears.
