I may do the fish extenders, if someone can tell me how to make them. Any EASY instructions? I haven't sewed in years, literally!

Looks like so far we have a lot of people on 7 aft, pretty close to us. In fact, sunshine state kim's kids are our neighbors, it appears.

We have never done fish extenders before...may have to try to sew one, too but not sure I will be able to - have to check with my friend who has a sewing machine :-) How do these work? Do we all put stuff in them everyday or do we have a specific day/time given to us? Thanks!

The days are flying by now...March will be a long month with no school breaks for us (we just had the last week off) so this will help the month go faster for the kids - having out countdown chart and they have been crossing off the days!
:cheer2:

I have to look back in this thread but we have set a time to meet on the ship, right? Thanks!:wave2:

Hi NJMomma. Do you have a pattern for the fish extenders? I still need to make them!

Kim

No pattern, I am winging it. I don't sew that well and don't have a sewing machine, but I am still trying :) I am using these guidelines I found searching the web (in fact I think it's from this site):

If you are making one here are the measurements. The overall hanging length is 32'' . The finished fabric length is approx. 26" . It is 8" wide. The dowel is a 1/2" dowel 10'' long. There is a rod pocket at the top for the dowel to slide through. The hanging cord is aprox. 13'' long and there are holes drilled through the dowel for the cord to be threaded and knotted. Use a wire tie or something else to tie the Fish extender to the fish in order to keep it attached.

Wish me luck, I need it!

Okay, I have had snow days (no school....hooray) for the past 2 days. Here is my attempt at a no sew fish extender. It still needs a cord or ribbon at the top to attatch to the fish. I used a very stiff felt for the back, soft felt for the pockets, and iron on transfers for the pics. The pockets are hot glued on with several lines of glue per side. Picture is a bit dark, sorry.

Not sure who is maintaining the list of Fish Extenders but please add us. We would love to participate - sounds like fun and I know the kids will love checking the pockets!

Well...I spent today starting my packing list...I shopped at Beall's Outlet and Walmart for shorts and t-shirts for the days....I bought 3 cute shirts--Tinkerbell, Pooh Bear, and Eyore....I love it....I still have to continue my list but it sure is fun. I'll probably do this every weekend until we leave. I have to remember to get my bonine and toiletries:)

Hi everyone! I updated post #1 again. FishLips was added as well as port side for our cruise depart meet. I tried to get everyone's details correct, but please check and let me know if anything needs changed/updated.

I'm suggesting we all stop by Home Depot & pick up lime green Mickey head paint chips to use as name tags during our meet. Since our cruise will be pretty crowded I think it'll help us find each other easier. We've done this before and it's worked great. Let me know if you want to do this or if you have other ideas.

1 month to go!!

Thanks so much for updating the list Kim. We also have others traveling with us but they are not DISers so not sure if you want to add them to our list or not.

We have Early Dinner Seating and my friend Debby (who is on the list with us) are next door - 6066 - and she would love to do the Fish Extenders, too so if you can add them - that would be great! It's Debby, DH and DD (6).

We won't be getting down there until around 8 pm that night so we won't make it to Fishlips but will be there at 3 pm on Sat and the Lime Green Mickey Head name tags sound like a great idea!

Thanks again!

How do we know which day is ours to put stuff in the Fish Extenders? We have only cruised once before and did not do them last time.

Thanks again!

You can print out a green mickey head if you want. Look on the threads that are about door magnets. I know I saw several versions there.

Or one of us can bring some extra for those who can't find them.

Hi all!!!!

Last cruise we dressed up for formal night (tuxes & little black dress), but I don't think we are going to this time. I know I can find something to wear, but what would be an alternative for dh and ds8? DH can easily wear a tie, but ds does not have one. Is there any reason why he can't just be in a polo shirt?

What are you all doing? :groom:

I'm ready to go shopping! If only I had lost that weight I was going to loose.

We will be dressing up, just not formal. DH in a suit (I figure that can get him thru formal night, semi, and Palo, so its worth packing) and I will probably wear a nice church dress.(my Sunday best, if you will)

Your DS8 should be okay in just a polo shirt, or a dress shirt with no tie. Tho the little ones look so cute in a tie!

I know what you mean about the weight! I lost a bit, but was hoping for more!

I had the same thought, bringing DH's dark suit for Formal Night, Palo & Semi-Formal nights...I'm wearing a cocktail dress, no floorlength. DD has a cocktail dress too...everything I own is black, so that helps with the formal look.

This is the first time i saw responses to my message; so sorry not to have acknowledged these, thanks. I am hoping our grandsons, Ben and Jeremy, will meet some of the other kids at our disboard cruise meet. anyone else out there with two boys two years apart? they can be best friends or worst enemies, and on our last disney cruise with them, the older one didn't want his little brother hanging with him. so, hopefully Ben will meet some of his own friends right off.
have any of you gone to studio at sea? last cruise we did not, thinking of it this time.

Do we wear our nametags at the Port, too? Sorry - we haven't done any of the DIS Boards stuff before and are excited to this cruise but just wasn't sure when we are supposed to wear our nametags, etc.

Also, when do we decide the schedule of Fish Extenders gifts or do we just pick a day to put our stuff in everyone's?

Thanks so much!

I prefer to not have a schedule. If there is something going on I want to attend, I don't want to worry about having to do the fish extenders.

I think a schedule would be great! We have enough of families doing it that we can have some doubles. Just a thought ...you can drop off your gifts any time of the day just by bed time so the kids will have it before they go to sleep? I've never done this before either.:confused3
If I get achance I'll try to search some others later to see what they are doing.

Well my son will come to the meet at 3pm. He's 10. I am sure if he met kids and exchanged stateroom #'s then he'd probably go to the Kids clubs or quest:) I plan on wearing my green mickey I guess to the port:) In regards to formal night...I am wearing a fancy skirt and blouse. My son is wearing a suit and tie but he loves to dress up! In regards to the fishextenders, maybe we should not keep a specific schedule and place it when we have the opportunity. I plan on maybe pirates night to do it....use it as a scavenger hunt...a cool game for the kids:) As to packing, I have all my clothes set aside in the closet ready to go in my suitcase but I was worried about them getting wrinkled....I think the best time to officially pack is the Saturday before.

Getting excited! Less than a month to go!
Got my flight schedules today from Disney. Am NOT very happy with them! Have to leave home about 4 am, Flight leaves at 6 am, and we have a stop. Have a 3 hr layover in Atlanta, and don't get into MCO until 11:53.

Next time I am booking my own! AirTran has a flight, non stop, leaving 2 hrs later, and getting in earlier.

Hi everyone,
I should be so excited that we are less than 4 weeks from sailing, but instead I am feeling really stressed.

DH still has not received his vacation request from work. Months ago, he was told it would not be an issue, but he has a new boss who is considering cancelling all vacations in April .

We really thought things would work out, but now it is not looking good. They know he needs an answer so we can book a flight, etc, but they keep putting him off.

Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

Could we get a complete list of how many adults and children are in each room for the Fish Extenders? We have 2 adults.

Also, first names for anyone willing to give them? Mine are in my signature.

Update on my Flights: AAA checked for me, and altho I have a long (2 1/2 hr) wait in Atlanta airport, our flights are both on the same concorse, so I won't have to run all over creation!! I am thankful for that!!

What is the day of the week and time of your layover? (thinking about your "crowds".) I think that in Atlanta you'd only change concourses if you changed airlines. We have flown into and out of the smaller airports and had to run from one end to the other to make a connecting flight on the same airlines:upsidedow. Charlotte!

Last August we got into Atlanta on a Sunday afternoon and it looked like the day after Thanksgiving at the Mall. The line for the restroom was massive.

Day of the cruise....Saturday morning about 9:30 am. Disney booked us on Delta, and they use pretty much all concourses! So I am glad we won't have to go too far!! Next time I will book my own flights, and go nonstop!!

Anyways, it seems like we have a few people staying locally.....I wanted to place a reservation at Fishlips for Friday night...I'm afraid I might be the only one with my son.....is anyone planning on it? I'm for sure meeting at 3pm:) Let me know for a head count....HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!

sunshine state kim---------------7618 and 7619

We have 2 rooms right across the hall from each other. I only have 1 fish extender with 4 pockets. I'll hang it outside room 7619. There are 4 of us on the cruise, me, DH, DD14 and DS10. 3 weeks to go!!

Hi Everyone!

Less than 3 weeks to go...we are almost there!

Since I have never done the Fish Extenders before, wanted to see what types of things some are planning (dont have to ruin the surprise or anything)...just like are you putting together a goody "bag" for each family or just putting little individual trinkets in, etc. I want to try to get my stuff this week so I can cross that off my list so any suggestions would be great!

Also, do we just put them in any day we want to?

Thanks so much!

I've only done fish extenders once before and was also a little nervous about what to include. We were on one of the Med cruises and there were lots and lots of Disboard people. No one was assigned a specific day. Things just appeared randomly though the cruise. We got everything from door magnets to fun size M&Ms to safety pins to notepads. Some times it was 1 goodie for the whole family and sometimes it was a couple of things for the kids. No matter what, it was just fun to feel around in the pocket and come up with a prize. I have a little something I'll try to put in for each kid and something different for the kid-less rooms. I learned from my past cruise to keep it simple!:thumbsup2

No goody bags here! Just keeping it simple. I read people do a lot of pencils, pens, magnets, candy....just a little surprise.

Day of the cruise....Saturday morning about 9:30 am. Disney booked us on Delta, and they use pretty much all concourses! So I am glad we won't have to go too far!! Next time I will book my own flights, and go nonstop!!

I am sorry for that situation!! Good Luck with getting on into Orlando as quickly as possible. We'll say a little prayer that the weather is nice and clear. (Which is kind-of-wrong considering our "drought".)

IN CASE YOU ALL HAVE NOT READ THE NEW THREADS!!

Last week they started playing with the dinner rotations on the Magic!:scared1:  :headache:

It seems they had rotations like LAAPLAP!
Sat - Rotation
Sun - Rotation
MON - IN THE SAME DINNING ROOM AS SUNDAY - MASTER CHEF MENU AND FORMAL NIGHT.
Tues - Rotation
Wed - Pirate Night
Thur - Semi-formal - Lobster
Fri - Til-We-Meet-Again

We booked Palo for Tuesday night thinking it was Master Chef night!!?!?!

Now I don't know what we'll do. AND this could all be different on the 5th.

That sounds perfect - just what I was thinking but since I haven't done it before - just wanted to ask :)

Simple is best and I know that we will just enjoy seeing whatever fun surprise is there! That is great that we don't need a schedule - I just wasn't sure how it worked and wondered if there is supposed to be something every day or does it matter :confused3 Guess I am making more out of it but like I said - all new to me so just checking with those with experience :worship:

Thanks so much Kim & dmi! Looking forward to meeting you soon!

Hi Everyone!

Just got off the phone with DCL after reading all of the info. about the Dining Rotation changes and they told me that they WILL be in place for our April 5th Cruise.

Here is what they gave me base on times...

5:30/8:00 - LAAPLAP
5:45/8:15 - APPLAPL
6:00/8:30 - PLLAPLA

Formal Night is the 3rd Night, Pirate Night the 5th Night and Semi-Formal the 6th Night.

Not sure if those will be the same for sure but from what they told me they will be and she said this was done to make it easier on guests. Just thought I would pass it along. I am going to be calling back tomorrow to take care of my Cabin Gifts, etc. so I am going to ask again :-)

Have a great night!

Monica

Sounds like the only real change is that 3rd rotational and master chef are switched, right? I'm not going to worry about it! I am happy they didn't change Pirate night! That's when I booked Palo.

Not worrying too much about the flight in. Since we booked it with DCL, they must be fairly sure of these flights.

I am just so stressed at work (teacher's aide in primary special ed) right now, that I need this vacation badly! It can't come soon enough!!

Its only bad if you had your heart set on seeing all three main dining restaurants the first time thru. For instance, if that is the night you first go to Animators Palate, and they have the show. Or if you SO hate the Master Chef menu, and were trying to avoid it. Otherwise, not a big deal.

Well, I am an over stress-er. I wanted Palo on Master Chef night (Tues.) so we would not miss a rotation room/menu. For example, we are not like most folks, we like Parrot Cay best. Now we don't know which dinning room rotation we'd be missing on Tuesday. Luck of the rotation draw.:confused3

This is probably too much for most folks to care about but . . .
under the new plan . .
LAAPLAP (AP for Formal, L for Pirate Night and AP for Semi-F)
APPLAPL (PC for Formal, AP for Pirate Night and PC for Semi-F)
PLLAPLA (L for Formal, PC for Pirate Night and L for Semi-F)

Under the old plan you would not be "stuck" in PC for F and SF nights, nor would you be so lucky to get L for both either.

Your question was "...why is this potentially bad with the new rotation?" Tuesday night is a "rotation" night and we'd miss that special menu/"show" (like AP). Now there is no night I want to miss.

I am not really as troubled as I sound. I decided last night to get over it and we just might not do Palo Dinner. :sad1: It will not spoil the week - that's for sure.

On our Eastern we had L for Formal, PC for Pirate Night and AP for Semi-F, perfect IMHO.

It's all good, I am just glad I know now and am not surprised at boarding.

This is my first Disney cruise and if I had never come on these boards I would never know that there was any need to stress over what rotation I would be getting. From this moment on I am determined to be happy with whatever rotation I get. I know I will have a great time no matter what restaurant I am in on any night. I think we are all over thinking this change on rotation and just need to remember how exciting it is to be going on a Disney cruise in the first place.

Now if I would just get my cruise documents I would be even more excited!!

Just an fyi for any of you all that are considering bringing your own on board...there is a recent thread that indicates that shipped boxes are no longer being accepted or any liquid (alcohol or otherwise) that is found in checked luggage will be confiscated...looks like bringing it in a carry-on is still ok...didn't know if this is an issue for anyone, so figured I'd pass along...

Update: As of this evening they are back to allowing 1 package per stateroom as long as it doesn't contain food or beverages...ok to carry on beverages...

Wow 22 pounds Morgy LOL.....For a family of 3, I have three suitcases and 3 travel bags....and I packed an extra travel bag for souvenirs.

Dm I feel your pain with state testing...we finished last week and on top of all that mess, I am in the process of finishing up my administrative internship to be a dean of students....long process but so worth it.

I had a nice tax return yesterday when I filed..Did not expect it so I waited to file :( I efiled and they said it should be deposited in my account within 2 weeks. I am keeping my fingers crossed it comes for our cruise or at least the end of it. It would be nice to get some extra cool stuff.

Also, probably will try freedom of the seas when it comes in to Port canaveral for next June. HOwever, I plan on booking a mini-3day Disney Cruise for JOsh's b-day in January next year or maybe around my B-day in February while on board. Small cruise....I know I'm going to miss the Magic's 7nt....I plan on booking a 7nt Eastern with them in 2010 or 2011 when the new ships come to port. I can never stop cruising Disney. Their service is just too good.

I just want to try Freedom since she is after all coming into our port here...

Morgy, we wound up liking Parrot Cay best for the atmoshere and the menu...AP was nice with the show, but after the 2nd time cruising, it became a little stale for us and our DD is a little older now...however, it is not to be missed if you've never seen it...

OK, it is March 24 and officially spring...and it is SNOWING in Georgia. Go figure. Saturday it was mid-70s and I was hot. Today I was FREEZING until I realize that I turned off the heat inside the house when it was 75! It was only 60 degrees in my kitchen, poor kids.

This trip is sneaking up on me. DH and DS6 both have tuxes and will be quite handsome. DD7 and I are still at a loss for what we can wear!! I know that I will be cold in the dining rooms (I always am) so I am debating what kind of dress/sweater I can get that will be "formal" enough to match the boys in their tuxes.

I have my shoe holders, air freshener, white noise machine, swim suits, and sunscreen. Everything else is just a bonus. :-)

Looking forward to a wonderful time!!

Has anyone hear any real news about the engine status? Virus status? Weather temps?

I am not exactly sure on our number of school days left...pretty close to yours tho. We have a teacher retiring at the end of the year, and last time she mentioned it, it was 55. I wish I could keep a countdown at school! I am in 3 different rooms. We do have disney stuff everywhere, tho! One of my students is going on a make a wish trip to DW in May.

Looks like the weather forcast is staying above freezing for the next 10 days. Only 12 to go, so we need to keep snow, ice, and freezing rain out of the forecast!!! That is my greatest fear! Not being able to get to the airport, or to take off due to the weather!!

Does anyone stop for wine on the way to the ship? Any suggestions? We will stay at the Hyatt and have a driver for the trip to port (will take bus back), so can ask him to stop somewhere. I read somewhere about a big chain of liquor stores (think first 3 letters of alphabet).

There's a Publix on A1A where you can pick up some before you board but I would not worry about it til Key West. I know CVS sells wine. ALso, check at the airport.

I am looking forward to it....just read a thread that people missed Grand Cayman today:( because of rough seas...I want nice and pleasant seas for our week!!!!!!

I have no clothes for cold weather. Those of us from chicago/midwest are delighted to see 65, but look forward to the HEAT (although not constantly, for me....I like the airconditioning available to cool off when nec.)
We were on Wonder 2 yrs ago and never even wished we had a sweater, so i am thinking it will be the same, and if not, i will buy a sweatshirt or something.

Then I'll head over to the room and put my magnets up and fishextender. Hopefully the bags don't take long to come to our room. In my last cruises, it usually arrived for us after the boat drill... We'll then go up for the meet and greet before heading back to get our vests for the boat drill:) ....Then party party for the sail-away...go back and change for the show and then off to dinner...party party party....oh yeah did I forget that somewhere in that process Josh will go to the Oceaneers Lab to meet kids:) as well as hang out with me and my mom. HUGS talk to you all laterz.

Way too much luggage, as always. I have a 28", DH has a 26", I have another packed with shoes, and stuff and the door magnet, probably a 26". That is a start. The boys will have a duffle bag and a 26" suitcase. On top of that we will each have a carry-on. and i will have a tote-like purse.
A few years ago I went to Provence with a friend (whose husband rented her a house for her 50th for a month). I came back to the states by myself and had a large and a medium suitcase, a rolling tote, a bag with a few unpackable souveniers and my purse. I could not/would not do it again. At the (high speed) train station in Paris, there were no elevators to go up to the taxi level and i had to manage all that on an escalator. Sure wish i had a photo of that!

I seem to need lots of extra stuff, not just clothes. If it were just clothes, i would be okay, i think.
It is lousy here in Chicago (weatherwise), rain and snow, grey at 3pm so need the lights on inside.
ONE WEEK FROM TOMORROW WE LEAVE!!!! One week from saturday we wave good bye

As much luggage as will fit in our van w/luggage carrier. Close to 12 pieces or more.
Oldest DDs and I each have the huge size (I don't know the ")(3). I have a older large one full of junk - little fan, power strip, electric alarm clock , two folding laundry baskets, laundry supplies, instant ice packs and instant heat patches, grass mats (serious sand castle builders - 6 hours with knees in the sand can do a lot of damage,) fish extender gifts, door magnets, etc.
We have a draw-string mesh beach-bag with beach stuff and 2 extra, empty duffel bags. 2 Garment Bags, and at least 4 smaller (carry-on) rolling bags, a rolling duffel for my carry-on. That is 12 I think and there may be more.:scared1:

AND NenaCruise - that is pretty much my day too - except I am thinking that I may not make the meet at 3:00. We hope to be on-board by 12:00. We'll be near the Mickey and or Goofy until around 2:00-2:30, head to our cabins, put away our carry-ons and hope that some luggage has arrived. I don't think I could get away by 3:00. We have several other places on-board we want to walk by before the drill.

SO NJMomma, I am counting on you to leave a sticky on my door of your cabin number!! We're in 7505.

I can't believe that we'll be loading the car at this time next week! Oh I have soooo much to do!

I plan to stick my green mickey in the pouch with my KTTW card also. If you see me, come introduce yourself!

Couldn't sleep this morning, woke up worrying about all the details! Unfortunately one of the details is that I have to get my city taxes done today, so THEN I can start the packing in earnest!!

My plan for when I get on the ship? With Disney flying us in so late, our rooms will probably be open when we get there! If they are, we will drop off our carry ons, find out which lunch place is least crowded, and eat. Then meet on deck 10. By that time, having been up since 4 am, we will collapse for a nap till safety drill. I love that our drill is in AP!

We are planning to go on the Submarine excursion at Grand Cayman, and to Discover Mexico/Chankanaab in Cozumel. Anyone else going on those?

How do you find out where your safety drill will be? Can you really take a nap or just some quiet time? I am usually too excited to even be quiet on that first day!!
We are taking Glass Bottom Boat tour at Key West, Ocean View Explorer at Cozumel and Pirate Encounter at Grand Cayman.

It is so good to read about others who are going to have lots of luggage, too! Thanks. BTW, how do you manage at the airport to get your luggage to the check-in. If there is a check-in outside, not a problem, but if we have to go inside that is the zig zag lines,
with enough luggage for 5 but only 4 to carry it;) ;)

Thanks so much for organizing the room numbers. That'll make it easier for the fish extenders!

We plan to do the trolly on Key West, Dolphin swim in Cozumel, and Sea Grape Beach on Grand Cayman.

Good idea about the green Mickey heads and the KTTW cards! I'll do that too.

Only a few more sleeps! We leave Tuesday for Orlando!

I know where my Drill is because I have stayed just a couple of rooms away, last cruise. 7 aft has AP for the drill. Can I nap? I don't know, but I know last time we flew in that morning, I almost could not stay awake thru late dinner seating. (I am usually in bed around 10, and we were just finishing dinner about then, and had been up since 4 am.) Its worth a try!!

As for check in, we are purposely flying out of a very small airport. No huge lines, no huge crowds.

Hello! Re: recieving an email from Hyatt.....are you staying at the airport Hyatt? So are we but we didn't get an email so I wonder what yours said?

I am concerned because i made our res at the Hyatt myself and then found out Disney uses them for one of their "resort" hotels, so I cancelled my own and took it with Disney (saved about $20). I called the hotel to see if they are accepting our ressies from Disney toward indiv. points for their Hyatt "passport club" and got nowhere. Spent about 15 min with various transfer calls and bottom line, no one knows about Dis ressies or who I/we am/are.

Thanks. Less than one week. as a matter of face this time next sat. will be the sail away party. hip hip hurray!!!

Yeah I was a little worried about Xcaret as well but everything I've read says it's amazing. And I don't know if I will ever go to Cozumel as a trip alone...since I'm addicted to WDW...so the long boat ride may be worth it anyway. Just hoping i don't get sick

Last cruise we didn't even have the pleasure of the kids wanting to go to the clubs. live and learn. anyway, no problem with the 12 y/o and i agree about the 10 y/o's. advantage is my 10 y/o has a big brother, but sometimes, not an adavantage at all when he meets some friends and wants to be on his own.

I got on line today and checked out our flights and seating. We have connecting flights on both the way down, and the way back. We are flying in 4 different types of planes, with totally different configurations.:confused3
From a small comuter plane with only 12 rows, to a 767. Should be interesting!! At least we are seated together on all flights, and only have a middle seat on one leg!!

ps. last minute q? about laptop computer batt's; is anyone bring a laptop? if so, are you bringing a spare battery? how do you pack it in regard to airline restrictions?

IMHO it is strange that you can pack liquids in check on for the airport but not carry on and then when we get to the port, must remove from check on and put in carry on. oh well, whatever works.

Just got in from the Dr. Oldest DD(16) turned her foot 5 weeks ago and has been in a air cast. Not getting better. Had a MRI on Monday. Bone is still bruised. "Wear air cast two more weeks." This is my 5-day-a-week dancer. Has the perfect dress for every night of the cruise with the perfect shoes(heels) to match. Not only has she not been able to dance for 5 now 7 weeks, BUT she has to wear the air cast on the cruise!

I, too, am sorry about the slow healing. Sacrifice now will pay off, so i hope she can dress up without the shoes and know she is healing and will be strong for many more dances in a few weeks, instead of taking a chance for a few days. does she use crutches? What bone (s)? in the foot, ankle or leg? is she getting therapy?

so, we are just about 24 hours away from leaving for the airport and leaving our world at home. we have a cat we will miss, but bring a photo to smile at.

We may get there early enough to meet at Fishlips...how many others are going? Will try to get our nametags done on the car ride down so we can wear them.

It will just depend on traffic and what time we get on the road but we are hoping to make it there for dinner with all in our traveling group. :cool1:

I can't believe that 48 hours from now we will be getting ready for the Sail Away Party!

Am I the only one not packed? I know I haven't been that active on this thread, but real life can really be demanding. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at the meet on Saturday.

Now I'm really regretting not getting a head start on the packing. I'm still doing laundry!

We just got bad news about an excursion. My DH loves the jetski ecotour on CC and we booked it for the family as a birthday present to him. DCL called to say this excursion is no longer available due to 3rd party contractor issues. Rats.

BUT, we got an upgrade! We were in a cat 9 and now we have a cat 6 room!:woohoo:

If anyone needs me, I'll be relaxing on my verandah in stateroom 6562.

And I still haven't finished packing.

Good morning cruisers!

Glad I didn't commit to fish extenders...I didn't get half the things done for the cruise that I wanted to and I'm sure this would have been one of the things left undone. I will be looking for everyone else's to get ideas for our next cruise!

Hope everyone had a magical cruise and a safe trip home. I only met a few of you, but thanks to everyone for the fish extender gifts. My ds & dd & dn's looked forward to the treats each day. We all loved the magnets & other gifts.

We did not rebook, but are looking at the same time in 2010.

Hey all...We had a great time and thought about booking again, but held off. We are glad to have been able to meet many of you...JK8, I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you too! DH and I had a great time talking with your DH on CC...How was your anniversary dinner at Palo?

Hey there NenaCruise...we had so much fun the first night at Rockin' Bar D during the Magic Quest Scavenger Hunt...so glad we teamed up together since you pretty much had everything they asked for in your purse and your mom was such a good sport to provide the rest (ha ha)...

Also wanted to thank Kimlam for organizing our 3pm meet that gave many of us an opportunity to say hi before the start of the cruise...

Anybody feel like sharing their highlights of the cruise?

I had so much fun getting to know most of you. Metzfan64 so happened to be seated in the table next to us:) My fav. time was the Magic Quest...that was so much fun. I never thought my mom would show her false teeth:)LOL...

My fav excursion was the pirate encounter in Cayman...Oh yeah and the doplphin encounter but realistically I did not like Key West much

We had a great cruise! Thanks to kimlam for the bubbles -- DD LOVED them! Unfortunately we were late to the meet and didn't meet many folks before being blown away.

I tried finding you Yonkrs girl and met someone on a tram at Castaway Cay who was traveling with you -- but never did catch up with you! Sorry.

We got way more sun than I expected. I kept my kids covered in sunscreen and rash guards, but we are still pink from all of our beach trips.

Of all the ports, I just like Castaway Cay the best. I didn't rebook on this trip, but I really must book one of those double-dip cruises some day.

We missed the pirate party completely. My kids passed out and I was in bed listening to the fireworks. Was it a fun party?

Welcome to DVC jk8! Did you buy at SSR? That is one of our home resorts.

jk8
04-15-2008, 09:55 AM
Thanks for the welcome to DVC Kim. We did buy at SSR to get the double points. I am not that crazy about AKL. I would have considered buying VWL points but no incentives for those.

Metzfan, we did enjoy our Palo anniversary dinner. THe chocolate souffle was the highlight. Overall, though, I don't think we will go back to Palo. It is a little bit fancy and was a little long for us. It was nice to have the different flavors of food cuisine.

Nena, I did not really care for Key West either. If I went back to the keys I would focus on the nature aspects. I would have like to do the canoe in the mangroves.

I hope to do the Eastern again next time. I just enjoy all the time on board. I really don't care much for the ports although we had a nice snorkel on Caymen. I also agree that CC is the best. We had a nice shady spot under some trees. Ahhh, I wish I was there right now.

Hello to everyone that is suffering from Cruise withdrawl this week. What a fab cruise it was!! Only met a few of you pretty much via my bud Monica (aka yonkersgirl). Thanks for all the great FE gifts! Esp love the magnets that are now firmly planted on our fridge to always remind us of the magical week!
Booked again for 9/19/09. Hope to see some of you again on future Dis cruises!

Hi Everybody,
It has been a tough few days! I cried at dinner Friday night after the parade of Baked Alaskas. Our servers were so good to us.
I got teary in the show, at the Til We Meet Again at 10:15 (missed that packing last time),
Then when we were walking through deck 3 to leave Saturday I had the biggest lump in my throat and fought back tears all the way.

Am I crazy???? I wonder if anyone ever leaves another cruise-line's cruise teary!?!?

Last time we had decided that no matter what, we'd be back! We did not rebook on-board :sad2: , but after getting home and crunching numbers we were able to book this cruise. This time I am not so sure. We have been putting off a lot of things around the house. We are going to buy two cars within the year and the oldest will go to college in 09. I am not sure when we will get back. Today I thought about starting a small savings now with the new ship in 2010 (or is it 2011?) Since they will be out of Port C. for a while that is good for us and that would be a neat goal!:thumbsup2 . So we will see.

I will confess that I was the one called up in the second show to do the card trick with the duck. I was dying!! AND --real confession - - made to NO ONE BEFORE NOW INCLUDING DH!! The duck bit my arm as I was leaving :confused3 and I had a bruise the size of a quarter the rest of the cruise!

ANYWAY - it has been awesome!!

We loved all the surprises in our FE and my DD#3 enjoyed being delivery girl - I only had to do it twice! Met a guy in the hall, wanting to know what it was all about - told him about dis. I don't know know how anyone cruises DCL without the disboards!!??

We had a sweet little girl in our hall ask her Daddy if someone was going to decorate her door too, so of course, we gave her a magnet. Over the week, we made a game of it, sneaking magnets on her door nearly every day. She sweetly wrote thank you notes. On the last night, I even hung a few goodies from her fish. It was so much fun! Her Dad caught me on the last night, and I told him about the disboards. You are right, Mom24, I don't know how anyone can plan a DC without the disboards!!

So sorry I met none of you! I looked around Deck 10 at 3, didn't remember which side, but saw no green Mickeys. (with our late flights, we barely made it on and thru lunch by 3.)

We filled out one of those rebooking cards inquiring about the 6/20/09 Tortola cruise...sat with the Castmember and she gave us the price, but I didn't re-book...

Came home and got a confirmation on this sailing asking us for the deposit...It seems that they booked us onboard without the deposit :confused3

So I'm basically figuring that this is some message to rebook, so I called and gave the deposit...right now we are tentively booked for the 6/20/09 Eastern to Tortola, but I think we will change it...hopefully to one of the new ships:cool1:

We did not visit the rebook desk this time, but last time we did and got the same letter. They basically do that to give you a second chance. Pretty nice. I think we may have to look into going in the Summer next time as well. Sping Break falls near Easter for us the next two years and the prices and points are high.

This was our 4th cruise and I have never re-booked on board. My travel agent encouraged me to do so this time and to take advantage of the $200 on board credit.

Needless to say...we are heading to Saint Croix on October 10, 2009. Less than 18 months away

Hi everyone! I can't believe we are all back home and the trip is over. It was raining here in Seattle when we landed. It was so much fun meeting you. My kids really enjoyed doing the fish extenders. They loved running up and down the halls delivering items and it was so much fun seeing all the surprises. Thanks for everything. We rebooked onboard - a double dip Aug 22nd & 29th. Eeek! We've never done anything like that before, but we are really excited about it! So, I have to ask....where/how did you all make those cute magnets? I loved them!

The magnets I made were SOOO easy! There is an Avery brand product sold at Walmart. It is sheets of magnet, that can be run thru a printer. I just picked out pictures on line, and ran them thru the printer. Cut and trim, and they are done.

Some others I ran on regular paper, got sheets of magnets that were stick on the other side. Those I laminated first, then stuck on the magnets.

Metzfan, we are also rebooked for June 20,2009. We also are not sure if we will keep it. Waiting to see what special cruises will show up on the 2010 lists. Still hoping for Alaska!

I really like the 6/20 itinerary, but I think we will go to WDW in June 09. I haven't been there since last May and I'm getting antsy. I will probably extend the cruise ressie out to Nov or Dec and then see what happens...

Shhh! Don't tell anyone...last time I was at WDW it was only the Magic Kingdom, not even Epcot yet. We may add that on next trip, if its not during the school year.
