Hi Jen,
I am sorry to say my husband is going to be laid off soon, he works in the housing industry which is really going through hard times here in Florida. So we dont feel it would be wise to spend the money to go on this cruise, under the circumstances.

I wish for your husband and daughter a Magical cruise.:goodvibes

If you keep this thread bumped up I'm sure someone else who booked this cruise will join you.

Wish we were coming too, but it just wouldnt be wise at this time, financially,

Kathy

OMG.... I'm so sorry to hear of your news. I hope it works out for your husband.

I will try to keep the thread going. It will not be the same without you...keep checking in to say hi...

I read your trip report...love the photos. My DH and DD decided to fly in early now and stay at the same hotel by the port. Our next trip to WDW is real soon...we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary at the happiest place on earth...

Keep in touch...
Have a great holiday

Hi Jen,
we did have a very nice Christmas. We had both sons here which was nice and we called our daughters and grandkids and moms too.
I have tons of food leftover and need to do something with them.

3 day cruises are hard to find people sometimes. we have done a few where people posted the last 2 weeks before the cruise, so we got a little aquainted
but we still had a quick meet on board which was fun.

I will help you keep this bumped up so hopefully someone will connect with you and I am looking on other boards to find people too. I didnt delete my threads there for this cruise, that way if someone posts there I will refer them to you here.

We are actually going to be col over new years here in Florida. high in the low 50's and low 32. BRrrrrr!!!
But it sounds good to me. I am tired of all the heat.

take care and I will be in touch,

Kathy

Hi,

Thank you so much for helping me keep the thread up.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year's...

Yeah, it is just a tad bit colder here...lol

Maybe they will meet up with some fellow cruisers at the hotel the night before...

we will just keep bumping this and hopefully someone will join in for you guys.
But people are so friendly that they will make friends, probably at dinner for sure. but in the clubs the kids all get aquainted pretty easy too.

We had a great new years. just stayed home and watched movies all evening.
The dogs went crazy with all the fireworks, but we managed.

Today was cold and tomarrow morning is going to be 21 degrees and we may even get snow flurries on the coast in the early hours. wish I was there to see that.
They said this is the coldest we have been in 6 years. BRRRRR!!!

but in a way I am looking forward to it, I am tired of 85 degree weather.

catch ya later Jen,

Kathy

Hi Jen,
well we offically cancelled this cruise due to my DH getting laid off soon. Good news is after getting our refund for what we had paid into this cruise , of course it wasnt paid off or we would of still done it, Greg found another 3 day cruise in january with a florida resident rate and we got an inside stateroom for less than we got refunded. we had enough left to pay for parking and room host tip.

we will eat fast foods so we wont have to worry about tips for waiters and just walk around Nassau on our own. we have been so many times before anyway.

bottom line is we still get 3 day cruise without spending a dime extra.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Just sorry it wasnt this one,:sad1:

Jen,

Don't despair! My DH and our 2 girls and I are heading out on the Wonder on 3/20/08. This is their 1st cruise, and my 2nd (but we are all new to DCL) and we are so excited. Well, DH not so much. LOL!

In any case, I am just getting into the groove of really planning this trip. we booked a year ago, and final is due tomorrow (thank goodness for the agent!) so I am finally starting to get some planning under my belt.

We are coming from Houston, by air, via DCL, so I hope that whole flight-airport-transfer-boarding thing goes well. I am mostly worried about getting on board so late that we have to scurry to hit the sail party.

What have I missed on this thread?

hi Lisa,

I am the original OP of this thread. We just had to cancel last week.

I am so happy to see Jen's DH and son will have someone aboard to get aquainted with. I feel so much better knowing that there are 2 of you now to chat about the cruise.

I sure wish we were still coming along with you guys.

Tell Mickey hello for me and both of you have a magical cruise!!

I know you guys are both new to DCL so if you have any questions, please ask and i will be happy to answer them if I can even though I cant come along with you guys.
I will be lurking here so I will see any questions you may post,

Kathy

Thanks for replying! I saw in an earlier post that you had to cancel this sailing, but hopefully you will be sailing the DCL again soon.

I will ask this question... I had my TA book the dolphin encounter in Nassau because we thought that one might sell out, but what about stuff on CC? Specifically bicycles or sea kayaks/water trikes and the like? Is it really necessary to book those in advance?

Do either of you have any idea whether this sailing will be sold out? Is there a way we can find out?

mom x4,grandma x4
01-05-2008, 01:23 PM
Hi,
there is no reason to book those things ahead of time for CC.
We never do, we just walk up and rent them as we want to do them.
If you do bikes, there are 2 nice trails to ride just off the runway. One of them now has an observation tower. It gives a great view of the ship and the island, be sure and bring your camera.Plus be sure and look down around the tower. there are soe whimsical things Disney put there to see. most miss them because they are looking off in the distance.
There are lots of water stations on the trails too. Ice cold.

It is best to wait and see if the weather is ok for the trikes and such. sometimes it can get too windy and they wont rent them. Best to do them in the morning before the wind picks up.

The things you should book ahead of time would be the banana boat ride, eco tour, glass bottom boat, parasailing. Those are very popular, this time of the year you can often book them at the last minute even.

I dont think your ship will be full because it is conidered a holiday cruise and costs exra even though you return on easter morning.
The only way i know to see if its full is to look on line and see how many cabins are available. But even if DCL doesnt have any available many TA's will have rooms still.

We have been on a full ship a coupletimes. The only reason we knew this was because thew captain announced it. Events are spread out around the ship so well it is never all that crowded,

Hope this helps you some.

Hello Lisa,

I'm so glad to see someone else joined our group. Sorry to hear Kathy can't make the trip. But, I am glad you were able to go in January.

Few corrections.... I have a daughter not a son. And this will be their 3rd cruise with DCL. My DH's 4th total...3 with DCL. I will not be joining them on this cruise but will meet up with them in WDW afterwards.

My, DD LOVES DCL.... how old are your children? Maybe they will be in the same group. My DD is 9.

Since we are CClub members we were able to book our stuff early. My DH wants to swim with the stingrays at CC. That is all I booked so far. Kathy suggested a pirate tour on Nassau. So, they are thinking of walking over there at that point. But, we are not real big fans of Nassau so they might just stay on the ship. My DD can't wait we have a count down on our fridge.

They also booked a hotel at the port because it was cheaper to fly in the day before. (they will be flying from Baltimore) Even with the hotel cost it was still cheaper.

Glad you can join us... talk to you soon

I have a DD who is 9 too! I also have a younger DD who will be a month shy of 6 when we sail. They are both so excited!

The only thing I have booked is the dolphin experience in Nassau. I kind of wanted to hang on the boat while we are in Nassau, but DH is a go, go, go kind of person and CC will be hard enough for him (he hates the whole lay on the beach thing), so I think the dolphin deal will be enough to keep all of us happy.

If DDs and I love the cruise, but he doesn't, then we will plan a future one for just us girls.

01-12-2008, 09:32 AM
I'm so glad to hear your DD is 9. Does your daughter have email?

On our last cruise my DD was able to chat with another girl via email prior to the trip. This gave them a chance to introduce themselves. And, they were so excited to meet on the cruise. If you are interested send my a private email.

My DH would agree with your DH he hates to just sit around on the beach. He likes to be active all the time.

My DH and DD are going on this trip without me. My last cruise was not a good experience for sea sickness so I opted to sit this one out. We are going to meet in WDW on Easter Sunday to spend the rest of the week in the parks.

They both love the cruise ship. You will have a blast....

talk to you soon

No, no private email for DD#1, but you can send to me and I will let her use my account to respond. Not sure how to send a private though... :confused3 too new to the boards.

I took my first cruise ever last year on RCL. The girls in the family took my MIL for her 80th bday. It was fun, but I thought it would have been more fun with the girls, thus the DCL trip. We will see how Daddy likes it, but I am sure the girls and I will have a blast.:cool1:

Hey folks,

I'm not on your cruise but I found out this news for your cruise...

Disney Cruise Line will transform the animated feature ‘Toy Story’ into a stage show when ‘Toy Story - The Musical’ debuts March 20th, 2008 aboard Disney Wonder.

Following the storyline of the original Disney•Pixar film, the musical uses toy figures Buzz Lightyear and Woody to explore the true meaning of friendship.

‘The “Toy Story” film offered us a rich story and some incredible visual elements to build upon,’ said Jim Urry, vp entertainment for Disney Cruise Line, who assembled a team to create costumes, set designs and a new musical score.

DCL said larger-than-life props help transform the 977-seat Walt Disney Theatre into a toy-sized world, with a rear projection screen aiding the transformation between human-sized and toy-sized scenes.

Here is the video of the rehearsals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WWK6vANEmY

Hello England....

It was warm here today for a change. Never this warm in Feb. End of the week it will be back to the 30s.

My Daughter should be in the same lab as your 8 year old. Do you allow her to email? If so, maybe the two girls can chat before the cruise. Our last trip my daughter was able to chat with a girl online before hand and they couldn't wait to see each other on board.

you can PM me with your email info or I can PM you with mine...

The girls will have a BLAST! My daughter loved the lab on the last cruise...we couldn't get her out. My husband and daughter are flying in the day before and staying at a hotel near the port. After the trip we are all going Disney World for some more fun...:woohoo: :yay:

When do you arrive? Boy, I'm sure that will be a long trip to Florida...

Hi jen tried to pm you but cant get it to work !
any ideas:headache:

[I] am not jen but I can tell you it wont work because you dont have enough posts yet. you only have 4 I think you need 20 or 25 posts before it will work for you.

most people just post 20 times in a row, just post a couple of words like, posting so I can send a Pm or just say hello over and over again on this thread. Jen and others wont mind because they will know what you are doing.

Then once you have 20 or 25 posts try sending a PM again, it should work.

Yes we have really been blessed with a lot of cruises living so close but that will all change in about 3 weeks I will be moving to Oregon, then we will have to add airfare and hotels like everyone else and NO florida resident discounts:sad1: So we will probably only get to go once every couple of years. No complaints, just thankful for all we have had so far.
I am jealous you guys will get to see the new Toy Story show:goodvibes

Hope you dont mind me dropping by a couple of times to say hello, I still feel like I should be going with you guys:lovestruc

If she has enough posts she should be able to PM you, I dont know if you can hit the reply button then to return a message or not without having enough posts.

I dont know anyone who as tried that.

Probably would be easiest to just post a bunch of posts, until you hit the required number. You dont have to write more than 2 or 3 words on each post. It wont take long to do.

Just say hello and post. do it 5 times in a row and do it 3 or 4 times a day and in 2 days you will have enough posts.:goodvibes

Good luck,

kathy
