a couple of replys on the hot chocolate thread I started, so I wondered if anyone would be interested in doing a goodie box exchange from uk to USA and visa versa.

If a UK-er was willing to mail me some Devonshire Cream I would go for it! I have only read about it and would like to try it.
Would a jam and tea or coffee and biscuit exchange be good? Kinda of a an English afternoon tea or American coffee break theme. :confused3 (Too bad Krispy Kremes would not mail well. ;) )

I'll take part..but i wouldn't be able to send the devonshire cream because it's dairy. But ill definately take part, prehaps it would be good to find different things which are american/uk, which aren't just food, like small souvieneers.

Hiya,

I've been wanting to start up an exchange for a little while but no one seemed interested in my ideas... so I had started thinking that we could do with another 'regional' exchange. We do these from time to time and they are great fun! ::yes::

Everything you are saying would fit into the 'regional' category I think!

Anyways, I woudl definitely join this or run one if people wanted.... let me know :)

Just to remind everyone too -- the most painful part is the mailing expense on this. :rotfl2: From U.S. to Canada or Europe could EASILY cost $13 - $18 for postage alone at USPS.
I use to mail to Germany a lot. :faint: Even what I thought was a light weight package would cost me $13 - $14. I probably averaged $18. And to Canada is really no better.
So just a consideration...

I do quite a few of the exchanges on the US board from the UK, and i normally try and buy light things, i think it would be fair though as people are realising what they are letting themselves in for on the expense.

Exactly! If they don't want to spend the extra $ on postage, they won't join this one.

Gaspode, I don't think this would be considered regional, as much as international. At least I wasn't thinking of it like that.

OOPS! Just realized you were in the UK, and regional to you might be different than it is to me! Sorry!! :-)

Hiya Lynne

I was thinking of a regional exchange anyway so I wondered if these two 'meshed' together quite well - since the proposal with this one is to send things you only get where you live (in this case USA and UK) and thats the point of the regional one as well (tho' I guess we are more specific then ie I sent a Yorkshire cookbook because its the county I live in here in the UK)....

Anyways, I am still keen on either idea :)

Best Wishes,
Gaspodé

:goodvibes I was just confused! Regional here could be the other side of the state.

Altho, there are some foods I would be happy to have from Pittsburgh (where I'm from) that I can't get here!

Melissa, I think you should host. I might actually be talked into this exchange. I would love some strong tea, and I could send Hershey, Tastykake, or even peps.

This may turn out to be a hard exchange. There are plenty on this side of the pond wanting to join, the trouble now is finding people on the other side willing to join as shipping is expensive.

Hmm good point, perhaps terming it 'regional' would be best then so that people for example in NY could send NY stuff to someone from CA! And then, some lucky people will be getting from USA to UK or vice versa and thus some cadburys may well be exchanged ;)

Again I am more than happy to host but don't want to step on any toys as Tiggers_Pal seems keen also :)

Let me know,
