Make that four families. Me, DH, and DD (14) will be with you. Does your DD worry that she won't know anyone? It seems like so many travel with friends or extended family, mine is just beginning to get a little concerned.

We are heading straight home (TN) after the cruise. First we are going to Tampa for Busch Gardens and hopefully will be staying at MacDill Air Force Base. Husband is retired Navy, but they aren't holding that against us!

The night before departure we will be at Doubletree Castle on International Drive. I managed to get a turet room. It's more than I want to spend but I did get an excellent deal. Ever since it was built my DH and DD princess: have wanted to stay there, so I'm biting the bullet and going for it.

Oh and first we are staying at one of the moderate resorts...we probably wont get off the ship in Nassau since we were bombarded with people trying to sell us things at the market.

Although the dolphin excursion was awesome!

I also recomend renting bikes on CC. That was fun for all of us.

Is it May yet? :yay:

Sounds like a great trip KatRob. You will have to let us know about turet room at the Doubletree Castle on International Drive.

All right we are now up to five families, Welcome Aboard agraygirl. That is a beautiful baby you have agraygirl.

We will be driving down from Houston and staying at SSR for 4 nights before the cruise and meet some of our friends, then our first 3 day cruise followed by 6 nights at SSR, then driving back home.

Hopefully we can all meet up somewhere on the ship.

I tried to start a thread for this cruise several months ago, thought I would check again, so glad this one got started and people started responding. DH and myself are bringing my mom and a friend of hers from her church. It is their first cruise our third Disney cruise and 4th cruise overall. I love getting excited and talking about it with fellow dissers. Has anyone started thinking about decorating their door??? What rooms are you staying in??? Glad to be part of the discussion.

Nice door! It is sooo nice to see a hallway with each family's special touch. I like the message board, too. We had several pages made that had a daily theme and activities that we would swap onto the door whenever we were up to something new. I would post the pic, but I need to learn how first.... :confused3

We will be in cabin 2054. I started looking at the door decorating thread here when i first booked the cruise about a month ago but havent looked at it since then. This will be our first cruise so just learning about all it. For those of you previous Disney cruisers, do you bring on snacks, soft drinks, water, wine or beer? I have read a few threads on the matter but would like to know what you have done in the past.

Since only five, or are we up to six DIS families have replied to the thread maybe we could have a similar door sign theme.

Thanks, Jim.

Jim--
I like diet coke out of a can, don't care for the fountain stuff, so I bring on a 12 pack of diet coke, I also bring 1 - 6pk of something like Mike's hard lemonade. Our friends bring one bottle of some type of liquor to mix with lemonade or other mixer. Snacks --- I am a "Pooh-sized" woman and I don't bring anything for snacks --- from the minute you wake until the minute you sleep there is food available. Again, some folks bring chocolate - not available without charge on the ship or snacks for the shows. Personally, don't bring them but also its always a personal choice. I like the door idea, and I love knowing a few families before boarding. It's so nice to finally meet "friends" that we have made on the Dis-Boards.

We are staying at the Caribbean Beach for a week after the cruise - and I hope the parks are not too busy.

Is anyone going down to Port Canaveral the night before the cruise if so where are you staying? We like the Radisson. Not much longer, until the cruise`... can't heardly wait.

We are on the 6th floor in the aft of the boat. My mom needs a handicapped room and those are in the back of the boat.

I love the "secret deck" my husband and I like to go out at night and often we are the only ones back there. Hope everyone is well and enjoy a Happy Easter.

So it is okay to bring alcohol onboard? I turned *cough* thirty *cough* on our last cruise in May (May 20th), and I was pregnant with Alanna. So no drinky for me. But I fully intend to do a little makin' up for it this time.

We plan on stoping at the grocery store on the way to bring aboard baby food and formula. I'm assuming they will let us bring on a cooler for it? :confused3

Last year was our first cruise, we had a BLAST. I'm wondering if I want to bring a stroller for the baby, she'll be 7 months. Or I can leave it in the rental car... decisions decisions... life is so rough. ;)

maleficent, esq.
04-07-2007, 06:36 PM
I think the rule is the bottle is supposed to be unopened with alcohol. We have had no trouble bringing things on. A cooler should be fine. I can't recall if I've seen any strollers on board, but if in doubt ask. Hope you have a great time - and it should be a little easier not being preganant.

Hi all,
Another family here on the May 31 cruise. Two boys 7 & 4, my wife, & myself on our first cruise after our first visit to Disney World all for our 10 year anniversary. My wife wanted a cruise for the anniversary, and we thought about going without the kids, but decided this would be a great way for us all to have a great vacation. I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed/nervous thinking about making sure we are totally prepared:eek: . Hope we can continue to learn from this great site.

Glad to see some action on this post. We just got back Saturday from our WDW (OKW) and Vero Beach trip. The parks were insane, but the pool at OKW was great and as always we LOVE Vero. Looking forward to the cruise for our next trip and then onto Hilton Head DVC.

Thanks for the big welcome! We are all very excited. Mike has been a bit stressed, and I keep telling him that all will be good, but I have to admit, after seeing some of these posts with door decorations and theme nights at dinner, I am getting a bit nervous myself.

agraygirl--Yesterday, my 7.5 yr old and I looked at your cruise pictures from last May. He can't stop talking about "the boy on the computer" that will be on our cruise! He is very excited to meet him and has already told me about 10 times how he would really like to become friends with him! We will definately have to get them together.

My son will be 8 in August. He is a pretty bright boy and would probably enjoy the activities and people more in the Oceaneer's Lab. Do any of you know how strict they are on the age limit? If his birthday is within 3 months of being eight will they let him move up to the Lab?

We too would love to meet up wtih y'all one day on the ship.

Hi Amy,

I am feeling the same as Mike but I am trying to plan the trip as I have always done. Been looking to see what to pack, how much, what to wear for dinner, what to do, etc... all in about two months. I am feeling a little better after reading some of the posts on what to wear to dinner.

I was also wondering about the age limit on the children activities since our daughter will be 7 in Decmeber.

Maybe we could all pick a day or time and meet up or before the ship sets sail.

The weather here in Houston is a little strange as well but no snow, well hardly ever any snow here. It is in the mid 60's down the the low 50's for today, really windy. Normally it is much hotter by now but we like the cooler weather plus my light bill is less.

Hi y'all & Greetings from South Georgia! (I would say sunny So. Ga. but it has been cold as heck here today!)

I hope I'm not jinxing myself but I'm planning to book the 5/31 cruise in the a.m. and saw the thread and had to post! We (Me, My mom (DGM), DD7 and DD4.5) will be at Disney at BWI from 5/26 until 5/31. We were planning to go over to Universal for the next 3 nights but are changing plans to go on the 3 night cruise instead!!!!

My first DCL experience was last year with DH and his whole family and we absolutely loved it. My dad and DH don't quite understand our Disney obsession - although they are good sports-, so this is a "girls" trip. I called my mom to "run" the idea by her of taking the cruise instead of Universal. Being my Disney soul mate she, of course, jumped at the chance!!!

I will let you know about our cabin when we find out more. Can't wait to meet you all!!!:goodvibes

Okay so I was trying to come up with a cheap solution for us DISers to recognise each other and I wanted to run this by you guys.

Its a bright green Personalized Engraved Silicone/Rubber Bracelet
They also have them in burgundy/green:

http://www.abnerbrothers.com/page10.html

I propose it be engraved with "Disney Wonder 5/31/07".

We could all order our own.

What do ya think?

manlscott
04-16-2007, 09:37 AM
Welcome Laura! I guess by the time you read this you will have called to set up your cruise, so...Welcome Aboard!

agraygirl-The bracelets sound like a good idea to me, but I can tell you that my husband won't wear a bracelet :sad2:
I would wear one though. I too was thinking of something we could do to recognize each other. I think you came up with a good idea.
BTW, Great family picture!

Okay, y'all are putting up a bunch of initials for Disney stuff and I am totally lost
Is there someplace that will tell me what these mean? (ie CSR SSR VWL OKW DVC) POR-Port Orleans I am guessing

Sounds like there are a few of you that will be at the parks before the cruise. Maybe we could meet up there before we head to the ship.

Amy

agraygirl
04-16-2007, 09:46 AM
Is there someplace that will tell me what these mean? (ie CSR SSR VWL OKW DVC) POR-Port Orleans I am guessing

anything that ends with an R is a "Resort"

CSR - Coronado Springs Resort
SSR - Saratoga Springs Resort
VWL- Villas Wilderness Lodge?
OKW- Old Key West
DVC- Disney Vacation Club

:)

My husband wont wear the bracelet either... my son might.

There's also the t-shirt/hat option. I can make a cafe press store and they can be ordered in a bunch of sizes as well as kids sizes or hats. But I can't seem to come up with a design for us. I've never been to good at the graphic design thing. I'm also not sure about copyright stuff either, or I'd plaster up a picture of Mickey or Minnie and a boat or something.

manlscott
04-16-2007, 09:59 AM
Thanks, agraygirl! I also went hunting on the DIS boards for a list of initials and I found this: DISboard Abbreviations (http://www.wdwinfo.com/abbreviations.htm)

I thought about the shirt route too. But, we wouldn't want to wear the shirt the whole time we are on the ship, and if we don't have it on, other DISboarders won't know us. I think the bracelet is a good idea. My husband and I rarely do things separately, so as long as I have it on it will work. I am also not very good at coming up with design ideas. (That is apparent as I am racking my brain for a door design!)

Oh the lanyard is great, you get a "key to the world" card that is your money, your room key, and your ability to get on and off the ship. Even the kids get them. The kids also wear a wrist band for the whole trip that states who they belong to should they get lost(I guess).

I like to fold up my days navigator and tuck it in my card holder on the lanyard so I know what's going on where on the ship.

well poo... I went to the online store and the buttons had been pulled stating that the image may violate copy write laws. I think it was the mickey head since I purchased the palm tree image.

Argh, back to the drawing board. I supose I could do the same button with out the mickey?

Thanks Jim -
Before the cruise, the radisson. After the cruise June 3 - 9 Carribbean Beach.

We are staying on deck 6, though I am not sure which two rooms we have. I know mom has one of the handicapped rooms in the aft and we are close by. Love the little pins - my how others on the boat will wish they had such nice buttons.

:furious: DH just called from work and his boss is holding up his vacation request (he put it in months ago) because he wants him to work part of the week before the trip. Okay, it isn't the part during the cruise, just leading up to it. DH sort of implied that with the trip paid for already it might be difficult to change plans and was told he SHOULD NOT HAVE PAID FOR THE TRIP UNTIL HE KNEW IF HE COULD GET OFF!!! That is the part that got me. Adjusting the front of the trip isn't hard but the attitude that went along with it.

I guess we lose out on Busch Gardens, but I have freebies for SeaWorld that have to be used within a year so we can do that and adjust.

I am a tree, I bend, but one day I might not be able to straighten out again!:rotfl:

agraygirl, love the button even without the head.

...and on a general note, I've lost 18lbs since the end of Feb!!! Yesterday was my weigh in an measure day. 14.5 inches lost!! Go me! By the time the cruise comes around I'll be half way to my goal. Woot!! Baby fat be gone. :wizard:

Jim - Thanks for the list. Sorry to be a pain, but we moved to AKL for our pre-trip stay. My girls have been begging to go back and the 7 year old actually said "Are we staying at the Boardwalk AGAIN?";) Can you tell that my mom and I are the BWI fans???

They are now psyched about AKL - they love the animals and decor! Hopefully the construction noise won't be too bad...that is my main concern!

The way the boss looked at it, it was just adjusting a day or so. For us, it was actually losing three days. Good thing DH tacked on extra days after the trip for the drive home and resting up before going back to work:)

The boss's boss has been micromanaging things lately and it makes it rough on everyone. He has never pulled anything like this before. Then again, bosses don't seem to last too long there. Neither do micromanagers!!:rotfl:

The shirts were an after thought... I put them up today.
With Cafe Press you just upload the image, select the product you want it on, and then they take care of the rest...

...and Im a good procrastinator:rotfl2: ... my house is a wreck! I'm a stay at home mom and work 10 hours a week for a real estate MLS software company.

I just ordered buttons for my family and a magnet for our door sign, I haven't decided if I want to get a shirt or not.

There are lots of different t-shirts, like over 20 different kinds I can add a design to so if you want to put a request in I'll put it up there.

I'm tired too!!! I need a cruise. Just left a block party going to watch game 6 of the Stars tonight. Church in the morning, then going to see Wicked in the afternoon. Can't wait I've heard its great. I'm surprised there are so few families on the boards, I wonder if there will be a chance to upgrade when signing in. I've heard its cheaper to do it at the dock, but its also very difficult a lot of time there is no availability. Hope everyone has a great weekend look forward to meeting soon.

I don't think we are going to do Palo's, Since we are traveling without children don't really need to get away. I love brunch but don't think they have brunch on the three day. I am wondering if they are going to show the Pirates of the Caribbean III on the ship? Does anyone know how to find out what movies are being shown?

04-22-2007, 07:02 AM
We have made Palo reservations and put the baby in flounders. Palo's is nice, we did brunch in '06. I'm not sure about it this time and may cancel. Our res is for the second night. But I refuse to miss animators pallet. So we get assigned there Ill try to reschedule or drop the whole idea.

I'd really like to go dancing too. :woohoo:

My baby has never been in any kind of daycare so Im a bit nervous about that. My DS was in daycare from 6 weeks on... so I remember how bad it felt to drop him off that first few times.

Lets plan a get together on embarkation day. The most recent 3-Day Navigator I could find is Oct 2006.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/DCL-Navigator-3-day-Oct06/index.htm

Jim can you add late/early dining to the chart? (My family is scheduled for late dining)

3:30 all aboard, you HAVE to be on board by now.
4:15 Boat Drill
5:00 The ship leaves and the sail away party begins
Lets meet here
6ish early dining starts
6:15 Hercules (for the late diners)
8ish late dining starts
8:15 Herculese (for the early diners) *If you havent see Hercules, you'll not want to miss it!!

I'll keep a bunch of sticky notes on my door and I also have a dry erase board. If we want to make another meeting later in the trip I'll post it there.

Sound good?

The sail away party is at the goofy pool, there are a ton of people. Let's not meet on deck 9 where all the people are, I'm thinking deck 10 where you can overlook the party?

I'm open to ideas. :D

Jim - just my opinion (my family says I like to be the boss of the world) but if this is your first DCL cruise (and any cruise) I'd just stay onboard at Nassau and enjoy the ship. The cruise is so short that after getting off at that disappointing stop we have stayed on board and really enjoyed the ship without so many people. Like I said just my two cent's worth.

Thanks, Jim.

That's our plan(stay on board at Nassau). We did the dolphin excursion in Nassau which was fun but there were people hounding us to buy things and get our hair braided on the way to the excursion. Which, you wouldn't know by how much I talk here, but in real life I'm pretty quiet! So that made me uncomfortable.

Also, the Mickey Pool is ALWAYS so crowded. This gives DS plenty time with out all the crowds to play in the pool.

Although I would note, I wouldn't give up the experience we had at the dolphin excursion for anything, and I was glad we did it. Maybe next time we'll do Atlantis. But this time, we're bein' lazy!

agraygirl

I'm all about dining together.

My DISBoard group did this the last time. It takes a phone call to Disney/Travel Agent and the reservation number of the family you want to have the dining with and that's it. Well, and your reservation number.

We need a count of hands for who is late and who has early dining and who is interested.

Also, instead of a dinner meet we could do a regular breakfast meet at Parrot Cay in the mornings.. They have THE BEST breakfast. *drool*

Food for thought... :)

P.S. I think Pirate night is Friday, June 1st.
P.S.S. Don't miss Castaway Cay, it's beautimus.

I would love to meet everyone at the sail away party. Because we are traveling with mother, I think its best if we bow out of dinner--- but would love to meet at the pier or sail away party. Jim - I agree about staying on the boat at Nassau but mom really wants to see the island so we are going on the historical tour. This cruise is really for her. My dad died a few years ago and I try to take her a few times a year to do some fun things.
Ever since agraygirl mentioned Palo's I'm thinking of going if even just for souflee and the little lemon drink they serve at the end. I really need to stop obsessing about food on the ship. agraygirl & Jim - We have late dining too but I'm not sure that I would want to "subject" any of my DIS friends to having to eat with my 2 princesses every evening!!! :scared1: The youngest can be a little crabby late and I'm hoping that she enjoys the clubs more this time. She will be in older DD's group this year and I think she'll spend more time in the Club since she will be grouped with her big sis (who loves the clubs!):)

We are also staying on the boat in Nassau. Like agraygril, we did Dolphin Swim & Encounters last time and LOVED it (and highly recommend it). But we are also going to be "lazy" and enjoy the boat since this is such a short cruise. We may get off the boat for an hour and run to the Pirate Museum but that would be the most we would do.

What a long weekend. I couldn't wait to get back to school to check out the DISboards! We still have dialup at home so getting on here from home takes forever!

We would love to do dinner/breakfast also. Just let us know which one and we'll do whatever we need to do. We have the early seating for dinner. Meeting at the sail away party sounds great too.

Since this is our first time on a cruise, and to Nassau, we are getting off the boat there. We did decide not to do any excursions the ship offers though. We were planning on taking a carriage ride around Nassau and then heading to the Pirate Musuem. Any thoughts on this?

I guess I must have ordered my buttons right before CafePress pulled them. Anyway, I e-mailed them to see if they were going to cancel my order and they responded with:
'I am not too sure if you are aware, but there was system issues for the past few days were images were being flagged in Cafepress Shops. I have gone ahead and taken a look into your shop, product and order and everything seems to be fine.'
So...I guess the Mickey head was okay. Thought you would like to know, agraygirl. After all your hard work I hated to see them pull your design.

Hi Amy! Thanks for the info, let me know what design your buttons have when they arrive. I'm going to leave the ones that are up there, up there. I did order some extra emergency back up buttons and I'll give you some to match on the ship if yours don't, you'll just have two! You can call the mickey head design the "collector's edition". Oh oh!! you could maybe even sell your "collectors edition" as a limited print on ebay for millions!! Haha.. okay just kidding.

Lets see who else has early dining and I'll explain what to do.

I called earlier to link Jim's family to my family reservation and they were VERY happy to do it. It only takes about 5 minutes.

Also, If you want to change to late dining you could join us. :)

Hello again, my dis friends!
I made my own cruise meet door sign instead of buying the one from Cafe Press.
I copied the design with the Mickey head to my pictures, then I printed it out. I'm going to laminate it for my door sign. I don't have a button maker, but I'm going to laminate a small one and clip it to my bag.
Just an option to think about.

I did civil litigation for the past 6 years. Got tired of the pressure and trial schedule, recently became In-House Counsel for a teachers union. Absolutely love it. Only problem is have to take vacations when everyone else does. Love Disney in September and October and cruises are so much less expensive.

D$H :eeyore: here... Well, it looks like Jim's list shows that a majority of folks are interested in the Pirate Museum! I have not visited there, but y'all can learn (a bit) more from their website (http://www.pirates-of-nassau.com). There are also plenty of entries about the museum in this forum if you do a search, but I think it is generally disappointing compared against our Disney-level of expectations. In Nassau, I prefer shopping, snorkelin', strolling the streets, and just people watching (of course, we are doing the historical tour, so that marks us as excitement-challenged). But if you have a pirate-lover in the group, then I suppose it becomes a must-do visit. A guest on our last cruise (LCTsMom (http://www.disboards.com/z/index.php?z-profile=LCTsMom)) has some good photos that show their museum experience (http://good-times.webshots.com/album/553921746vIBnty) (I did think that the "Code of Conduct" was interesting). I should add that we have become enthusiasts of Pirate Night on the ship and find it to be lotsa fun so y'all should be prepared and dress the part! pirate:

As far as the breakfast meet is concerned.
I'd like to do it onthe 2nd day, "Nassau Day", around 8:00am in Parrot Cay? Is that to early?

I wanted to make sure everyone had time to eat and get to their excursions for the day. My family will probably go swimming after breakfast. :)

Got our buttons the other day. The small ones will be perfect size to pin to your lanyard. Mine do have the Mickey head, so we will just be the unique group!

Meeting for breakfast at 8 on "Nassau Day" sounds great to us!

We are getting really excited. I have started a list of things I can't forget to take with us i.e. passports, cruise documents, buttons, cameras and chargers!

Mal's DH, thanks for the Pirate Museum Website. I think you're right, not quite up to Disney standards, but my boys will be lovin' it! pirate:
Guess I will have to add pirate attire to my list :)

We got our buttons yesterday. Look good.

Breakfast on Nassau day is fine with us, we are pretty flexible with our plans.

Right now I am just getting antsy to go! I have a countdown board on the mantel so we can keep up with it. After 14 months of anticipation it is like, okay, let's just get going!

This is an "instead of" trip for DD. Her class trip is scheduled about the same time for NYC. We opted for a family trip instead (she didn't want to go to NYC).

Last night we watched a show we TiVoed (how did we live without TiVo!) about the DCL. It started with how they made the boats (in two separate pieces in two different ship yards!) and how they designed the boat (exterior and interior). It showed some different rooms, the restaurants and activities on board, including the club and lab for kids. This got my boys very excited and we are all very ready to cruise! Now we realize that 3 days is not near enough time to do experience half of what the ship offers! Guess this means we will have to do another cruise next year! :sail:

Hi all!

I just ordered my buttons & door magnet (feeling very behind since the rest of you already have yours!!!) My excuse is that we were also the last to book :lmao:

We decided to "cave in" and try the Blackbeard's Cay Stingray excursion while in Nassua. I promised myself we'd stay onboard and enjoy the ship in Nassau but we loved the dolphins so much last time that we are planning to try the rays this time! I would wait the shorter "excursion" at CC but youngest DD doesn't make 5 year age cut off there.

We will definitely do sail away meet but we are night owls and will be pushing it to make our 9:45 a.m. excursion in Nassau:rotfl: . Sad, but true. My DD4 already has to be dragged out of bed in the a.m. - I will never make it through the teenage years!!!!::rotfl2:

Hope everyone is well! I wish we were leaving tomorrow...except, of course, procrastinator that I am, I haven't even thought about packing!

Hi Amy,

That program is the one my BIL put on a DVD for us to watch. My wife watched it, so I asked how about we go on a cruise out of Galveston like your BIL. She said lets go on a Disney cruise and thats when I started making out the travel plans.

Well we only have 26 more days til we leave for Disney World and the cruise a few days later.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

So with less than a month ago, what are you looking forward to the most on the cruise ship? I love sitting on deck 4 and watching the ocean go by. Always bring a book along but never read it because I sit and talk to DH, and watch the ocean. What about the rest of you??

Any characters that the children are interested in seeing?

Going to watch a rugby match - check in soon .

I'm here, taking 2 classes at the local community college this year and tonight was my final. Yuck. Tomorrow is weigh in at my center, last monday I was down 20lbs total, but I feel icky and I think I'm up a pound or two.

Looking at the recent (Feb) Navigator I saw that the kids in the Lab don't do the "So you wanna be a pirate" training with captian hook. :sad2: DS had so much fun with that last year. But they DO have a game cube tournament... He otta like that. :)

We are trying to talk my in-laws into coming with us on the trip. They are actually considering it... I told them to just surprise us and show up at the port. ;)

Mal, I try to avoid the characters pretty much... I'm skeerd.

But I am looking forward to 80's night dancing :woohoo: (if I can stay awake that late!) and getting some good R&R.

Nassau Day DH and I scheduled some quiet time. :thumbsup2 Sending DD to Flounders and DS to the Lab. Then I'm thinking we are going to head to the adult pool for some R&R. Ahhhh...

Oh and we canceled Palo, maybe next time.

What a long weekend! I don't get to say that too often. Usually we have a million things going on, but this weekend we were able to get some stuff done around the house. Then I took the day off yesterday to stay home with DH who cut his leg on our tractor on Sunday. 5 hours and 10 stitches later we were home from the ER!

As I have never been on a cruise before, I don't have one thing I am particularly looking forward to. I do think that after 4 days at the park with my 2 boys, I will be ready to let them go to the Lab so DH and I can enjoy some adult time

Neither of us are big dancers. Rhythm is not in our veins!!
I have heard there are lines to see the characters in WDW, so I am hoping the kids get to see them a little more on the ship.

I think we are really looking forward to Castaway Cay spending the day lounging on the beach. The boys seem pretty interested in the archeological dig they have there for the kids.

Better get my nose back to the grindstone!

Same here, except the weight part... I didnt loose any last week though.. doing LA Weightloss down 20 pounds since March 1 Ive got 35 more pounds to go. I get counseling from them 3 days a week so I don't gorge myself.

They did say I should have fun and eat what I want on my vacation and that if I wanted I could print off the menus and they can tell me what the lesser of the evils is... I may do that but meh. I like food.

Oh oh!! Speaking of food!! We got reservations at Cinderella castle!! Yay!!

You know Im more excited about the cruise than WDW. I even have a PAL Mickey... Disney World is magical, what the heck is wrong with me?! DH an I considered cancelling our WDW trip and doing a 4 day cruise before our 3 Day... but it didn't fly with the DS... argh.

mal - LOVED the trip report! :thumbsup2 She was fabulous! Thanks for sharing...

On the way to drop my girls off at school this a.m., I asked them if they knew what today is. They looked up long enough from Nintendo DS to say "Tuesday." Ok, right, but what else is today? No response...

It's MAY!!! And you get out of school in May, and go to Disney in May and go on a ...OOPS..... cruise was supposed to be a surprise! I caught myself at the very last minute. DD7 looked at me quite strangely and said "What?" I responded that we can go swimming in May...not sure she bought it. Our plan is to leave AKL to head home and head to the port instead!

I also have not packed, made signs and am generally unprepared. Only 25 more days until we leave for WDW!

Agraygirl - I feel the same way. I'm more excited about the cruise than the parks and I LOVE Disney! I'm basically just ready to be off work, with my kids and on vacation! DH has already started complaining about how long we'll be gone - I invited him again to come, but no takers - just doesn't understanding my Disney obssession;) . I'm pretty sure last year the only reason that he cruised with me was that he was laboring under the misimpression that there was a casino on the boat:rolleyes1 . that's all right you and I can chat because I will be so excited I will hardly be able to stand it, we won't be doing Disney until after the cruise. I know everyone feels they need the relaxation after Disney but I feel like I don't want to be let down when I leave the cruise ship, and leaving Disney nothing can make that better - even the Disney cruise - So I choose the ship then the world.

I think my mom probably feels the same way your mom does about meeting people on the internet - How do we explain to them this is different -- These are not just people they are others who share our compulsion (yes, that is the right word) for all things Disney. I can't believe you are starting to pack already. I think I'm compulsive but its really I obsessively plan and pack at the last minute. Getting so excited....

D$H :eeyore: here! I was just reading our weekly Passporter e-mail and saw this Q&A entry with Jennifer and Dave that I thought might be of interest to y'all who are dragging your kids (kickin' & screamin') onto our ship:

VayKay Vicky asks: "I know I read that Flounder's Reef is for children age 3 and younger but what are the babysitting options for someone who has an older child (my son will be 3 months shy of age 4 when we go)? Although he is potty trained for the most part, he can be hesitant to interact with large groups of kids. We will certainly stay with him for some of the programs he wants to attend in the Oceaneer's Club, but since it's our 15th wedding anniversary, we would like to have one night of 'adult' time at Palo. I was just wondering if they would watch kids that are slightly older for a few hours?"

Dave and Jennifer answer: "Flounder's Reef does accept children age 3 who are not fully potty trained. It sounds like your child would qualify for care in Flounder's Reef. It is a smaller space than Oceaneer Club, so he may not have as much play space as he needs, and he'll probably be bigger than most of the other kids present. I suggest you keep your options open. You can visit Oceaneer Club with him the first evening of the cruise to see how it works for him. He can play quietly by himself if he's uncomfortable with the other kids. With a couple of visits under his belt, in all probability he'll be fine with Oceaneer Club by the time it comes for you to have your special night out. However, if there is a problem, Flounders should still be a viable option."?"

BTW, if you haven't already checked them out, the Passporter (http://www.passporterboards.com) team provides a good source of info on Dismania (we love their cruise book). Anyone else here read their stuff? Hmmm, I still don't know why anyone would bring children on a Disney cruise....

I thought some of you might find this humorus:
http://slashdot.org/articles/07/05/04/019218.shtml
"Apparently Japanese TV and bloggers have just discovered Disney's theme park in China, where young children can be part of the Magic Kingdom and interact with their favorite characters (like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and the Seven Dwarfs). The park's slogan is 'Because Disneyland is Too Far,' and there's even an Epcot-like dome. The only problem? Disney didn't build it, and they didn't authorize it. What's more? It's state-owned!"

Okay so Im quickly reaching my self imposed limit for posting in a day...

My DH and I have a hobby called "geocaching". You take a little GPS unit (like the "tom tom" but more portable) and find hidden "treasure" all over the world based on the longitude and latitude quardinates. I've found about 20 caches in Tennessee/Mississippi so far... but anyway...

There is a cache on Castaway Cay:
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=be75fd23-9bed-452c-8aed-6226154cc0f8&log=y&decrypt=

They tend to have little toys in them and a log to sign that says you found the cache. It's ALOT of fun. Especially on road trips, you can hit a few on the way to your destination.

K, thats all.. back to house work. :laundy:

Thanks for the compliment DH does it all. I love the captions he puts on the pictures. Hope you got to see some of DGD too!!! I guess I'll keep him. As far as spa services, I read on the budget board a great idea. That was to get a massage the day before you leave to kind of start the vacation early and you can get so much more done because of the price difference. Think I'll do that rather than spa on the ship - way too expensive. Already scheduled to have nails done and pedicure so why not a massage. I can't beleive how close it is getting

Thanks for the info Jim I'll buy around 20 bottles that should be enough. Thanks Iloveokw for offering to share the price, but I would love to do this. I like the bubbles and the more the merrier. Don't know how old everyone else is, but I know I am old enough not to be cruising with my child (who is now a mother) I haven't been able to be on the boards for a few days. My laptop broke, DH fixed it last night and I actually had a few minutes at work today. Doing this reminds me I should be making spa appointment. Talk to everyone soon

I know some of you have mentioned upgrading and wondering what might be available. Maybe I just have too much time on my hands right now, but I played around and found at least 25 staterooms available with some categories just listed as GTY. Didn't think to get the cabin numbers, but most were grouped together it seems like.

cat. 4, 6 and 12 listed as GTY
cat. 11 has 7 available, 6 on deck 6 and 1 on deck 5
cat. 10 has 4 available all on deck 1
cat. 9 has 6 all on deck 1
cat. 7 has 1 on deck 7
cat. 5 has 7 on deck 7

cat. 8 totally filled
cat. 1,2,3 info not available.

Hello my peeps.

My DH has been out of town at a confrence since Saturday and life has been crazy without him!! I also miss him horribly. He should be home tonight and life will return to normal. I hope.

So, I have put two suit cases out on my dining room table. Everytime I think of something I need to bring I throw it in a suitcase. Pretty smart eh?

Also, I wasn't going to get my baby girl a seat on the plane. She could fly for free as a "lap baby" but then I watched some video about it and learned that if there WAS an emergency, I would have to put her on the floor of the plane under my seat and hold her there. It's some FAA rule. :scared: I was horrified. So we blew an extra $300 on her own seat Ill buckle her car seat in.

Today I got an airline confirmation for our tickets and her name isn't on the confirmation, just Me, DH, and DS. *sigh* I also realized that we paid for it on a different credit card... Ugh. That's going to complicate hings a bit at the airport.

BTW, the term, GTY, means "Guarantee" and is a promotional rate that includes the condition that you do not select your stateroom at time of booking. As I understand it, in order to be upgraded by Disney, one must usually accept a GTY reservation.

glad to know other tickets have not arrived I was starting to get nervous - however, being such an organizer (others not in the know may say I am a control freak) that is not uncommon. Agraygirl - I understand about the baby - hope that it works out Pixie dust pixie dust:wizard: Well I guess I am going to start packing - not so much clothes but bathing suits, sun screen, water shoes, stuff I will not be needing in the next couple of weeks.

Had DGD birthday yesterday, wonderful time, can hardly wait until she is old enough for dh and I to take on the cruise with us. Happy mothers day all ---

Mal, I booked through DU. Matter of fact, I'm already looking into another Disney cruise and was comparing prices with DCL and DU and it was exactlly the same. I might just go directly with DCL next time. I didn't have any complaints but if Disney is going to end up with my cc number I would just as soon give it to them myself instead of a third party.

Agraygirl - doing the happy dance for you even as I type. However, the two of you getting your docs has just increased my neurosis 1,000 fold. Need to call Disney immediately and figure out why I was not the first one on the boat to receive my docs. Well maybe I can wait at least one more day. It really is getting close

We received ours too! Actually came on Friday last week!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: We also booked through DU. Interestingly enough, I tried to book directly and the ressie system was "down" the night I tried to book. (Could see prices but not make reservations). I e-mailed DU the same night for ressie.

Next morning, I tried booking again through Disney directly and prices had actually GONE UP from previous night. However, DU's quote when i received it was at the lower previous night's price. Needless to say, I went with DU!:wizard:

Mal - don't freak - your docs will come. If not, we promise we won't let the Wonder sail without you!!!!!;)

Is it just me or does ever client/customer/work issue you've ever had in the past 5 years reappear during the 2 weeks you are trying to leave to go on vacation?:confused3 Work has been nuts and sis-in-law had surgery which we thought she'd recover from quickly. She has had a terrible time  and my brother had to go out of town for business. So....in addition to work, my kids' daily fifteen million end of the year school activities, and my wonderful grandmother from KY coming to visit for 2 weeks :cloud9: , I have my 13 month old niece staying with us! I could eat her cute little cheeks off but I am getting nothing done! Am I the only one going crazy????

Leaving next Friday for the World! Can't wait!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the kind words, but I am hypervenilating. NO docs, but I do feel relieved knowing you will not allow Capt Henry to sail without me. Even if I do not have docs I keep telling myself - worse case scenario they print new ones at the dock. I do not know why things you have to do increase proportionately to the time you have left. The less time the more things.

(the sad part about the hypervenilating is I am trying to be funny, but it is actually sort of true ) Well better get back to work.

I'm just ready for this thing to be O-V-E-R tomorrow so that I can focus on important things like this Cruise, oops, I mean work....

DDs get out of school on May 24th. We were planning to leave May 26th to head to WDW but are thinking maybe a day earlier would be better...HMMMM

Have not packed anything. I am hoping to get started this weekend. That is the only part of this whole trip that I dread. I do not like packing (and unpacking is worse!) Buying things for the trip, I like. Packing? Not so much!

Agraygirl - kids are PRECIOUS!!!!! Thanks for sharing the video. They grow up so fast.

My girls still don't know about the cruise. Any ideas on how I can tell them? We will be at AKL until the day we leave...I'm looking for suggestions!

I think I am the only night owl of this group! Jim - I don't know how you do it. I am lucky to drag myself out of bed by 6:45 a.m. to have the kids at school before the tardy bell at 8:00!!!! DH and I are both "night people" and our poor children have inherited that trait also. My DD is the only 4 year old in the world who likes to sleep in like a teenager on the weekends!!! They love EMH at night and staying in MK until 2 a.m. but we've NEVER made an 8:00 a.m. park opening!

It's been a long day. We buried a dear friend of mine today who was killed in a freak boating accident Friday evening. Makes me ready to leave for vacation today--- He was leaving for Africa in 5 weeks on a big safari they'd planned for years.

I am so sorry about your friend. My SIL died right before one of our trips and I just couldn't handle it. Everything reminded me of her. She gave so much of herself to everyone else--I really thought of her more like a sister because I was 7 when my brother married her and she was around much more than my sister.

Back to Amy's question: Where would be the best place for us to meet for the away party, I know deck 10 was suggested but a specific area wasn't decided on. Come on, you vets, help us newbies out a little on that one!

I may have to get up early, but I still stay up too late. This board isn't helping any! I get sidetracked sooo easily these days.:rolleyes1

Sail away meet:
Find the goofy pool,at this point they will have pulled the stage over it and dancing on it, now go up a deck (deck 10). We will meet in the center of the rail on the side closest to land immediately after the boat drill. If there is land on both sides... which I can't remember. Look for me. :cool1: Maybe I'll get a t-shirt from cafe press.

As for the breakfast... Ill print out our logo thingy the same thing that is on the buttons, and place it on our table in Parot Key.

Sound good?

Oh and if anyone wants to organize something else I'll have a dry erase board on my door. Room 7102. Just put the place and time on the board.

I love my husband - I volunteer to get bubbles for everyone, what that really means is I volunteer DH to go get bubbles Last night DH went shopping for a few items found a bubble gun and special no spill bubbles for little ones. I really appreciate all he does to make me look good. Two weeks I can't believe it. Of course there a few at my job who really don't understand why I get all this time off to go to Disney. My answer of course is you need all this time off to go to Disney.

Love the meeting place can't wait for the sail-away party. My mother wasn't sure if she was invited to be with all of us since she is not part of this group - I assured her it was ok and not a by invitation only event. congrats on getting out of nursery duty. I had an ethics professor who was a wonderful christian man he said that outside every church nursery should be the verse from Revelation. "We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed." I love it.
