Will the DIS be updating the DVC points calculator to include 2008?

You can always log on to dvcmember.com (assuming you're a member) and use their calculator.

Or you can download Caskbill's DVC Planner which has the point schedules through at least the year 2042 (don't know if they go out to 2054 or 2057 yet). Just go to www.caskbill.com and download the planner and you'll never be waiting for point schedules again!
Besides, it has a ton of other features that make it very easy to play around with multiple vacation scenarios, and even save those scenarios. :thumbsup2

I go to the member website every day, waiting for 2008 point chart for cruises to be released. It works every day for me. Not sure why it doesn't work for you:confused3

I should have known that if AKV point schedules were in there that Bill would go ahead and take it out to 2057. ::yes::

I don't care about the point schedules I just want the neato point calculator....spreadsheets with numbers? Bah! LOL
simzac, I can get the 2008 on the DVCmember website but the one here on the DIS requires less putzing around so I like using it better. :)

Have you tried looking at my DVC-Planner program? If you think it's just a 'spreadsheet' with numbers you're mistaken.
It's not just a point chart, that's one of the smallest features of the program. It calculates your point requirements for any vacation you plan by simply selecting the resort, room, view and then clicking directly on the dates on a calendar.
Much quicker than any on-line point calculator. And once downloaded, you never have to be on-line to actually use it.
And it works for all years through 2057.
For example, here's a screenshot of the main screen, showing an AKV, 1-B/R savanna view, checking in on Sunday, June 7th, 2009, and staying for 7 nights, will require 252 points.

Want to know how many points that same vacation would be in an AKV Standard View room? Or in a Concierge Room? Or at a different resort? One click takes you to a comparison page and you can see the points required for every single resort/room/view combination there is in all of DVC for those same dates. Getting this kind of information would take a long time using an on-line point calculator.

Less putzing around:confused3 I have the login page stored in my favorites. Three easy steps. Sign in. Click on the points charts. Click on the resort I choose to look at. Can't get much easier than that in my opinion.

There is nothing easier or faster than Caskbill's DVC Planner. Much faster than member website or the points calculator on this site.
Try it, I think you'll be amazed.:goodvibes

Not in my opinion! :)
I did try Caskbills and perhaps it's my ADD but I found it much too busy....I need to use something ridiculously simple, which was why I was originally asking if the DIS had plans to update their version. Apparently they don't plan to. My loss, but thankyou to everyone for all the info!!

Sorry about your having ADD and can see where that could be an issue.
As to your original question, eventually the boards will get everything updated for the DVC charts and point calculator. But with the recent changeover on everything, the people who do that are extremely busy with other issues right now.
Thus, updating the DVC information is pretty far down on the 'to do' list.

Thanks again Caskbill, like I said the issue isn't your great calculator, the issue is my crazy buzzing brain ......and I can totally understand taking care of higher priority items first!!

Yes, the DIS POint calculator is being updated. The AKV point charts are being added, but there have been some formatting problems.
Keep checking, I'm sure it will be completed soon. In the meantime, you can always use the 2007 point calculator - the only changes from 2007 are the actual dates for Thanksgiving and Easter (plus the addition of AKV to the program.)

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
(1) Caskill's program is much faster and more efficient than any online calculator I've ever used.
(2) I haven't had ANY problems logging on to dvcmember.com since they started the pin code login requirement. Since then I've been getting on daily without issue -- and on my Mac that has been true since I started using Safari.
