I know that when we did the members cruise last year we all met on the top deck during the sail away party.

Cool! We'd decided to do Deck 10 for the par-tay, too, so... Sounds great to me!

With all the snow(keeps coming down) here in the east good chance he will be delayed and you will probably get to see him (I hope that is a good thing!)...lol

Did you get your envelope yet?

cheers,
Michael

If he is delayed on the east coast, I probably wont see him. If I am delayed in Denver, than chances are I will. He is a Premier Executive 1K (2.3 Million Mile Flyer) so if I am delayed at the airport, that is the guy I want to hang around. He has access to the United Clubs yatta yatta. And if I needed to rebook, they are more likely to listen to him and give me what I want over me.

He's gonna be out with us next week?? No snow in Philly...just lots of wind lately!! Maybe Denver will have some snow delays...

He is somewhere everyweek. He travels around 180-200 days out of the year.

And I just got my documents!

Deck ten is were we always go for the party as well. I am getting so excited. Your so right about a year passing by quickly. I can't believe this time last year I was finishing up the favors for the table and printing up the programs before we left for the wedding. Hopefully we will se you on Deck 10. We usually stand on the side that will be next to the port.

Thought I would ask everyone on here are you early dining or late dining.
Chris and I are late dining and wondering if we might see anyone.....

Since we have the chillen, we're early diners. Well, and the retirees. You know, it gets much past 4:30 and their fork hand starts getting itchy.

So, Deck 10, toward the port. Sounds like a date! One week and two hours from RIGHT NOW!

We are at the early dinner, because of the kids. Also important because my son has type 1 diabetes, so he needs to eat at regular times. This is our first vacation since he's had it, hopefully it all goes well.

I was wondering too what trips everyone has booked.

We've have two - Grand Cayman, we are going on the Pirate Ship
and
Cozumel - Swimming with Dolphins

Anyone else???

We have early seating dinner. We did late one year and just didn't like it....wanted to go to sleep after that big dinner so late! lol

We didn't book any excursions and now I'm worried...lol It seemed a good idea at the time, but now the kids are asking what we're doing??? Apparently, drinking bahama mamas in the sun was NOT the answer they were looking for!

We didn't book any excursions. It's our first cruise, and we wanted the freedom to enjoy the ship herself this time around!

We are planning to walk Key West, hitting the Pirate Soul museum, Hemingway House, lighthouse, Southernmost Point, and, of course, somewhere we can get chocolate-dipped frozen Key Lime pie.

At this point, we might just stay on the ship at Cozumel. We might hit Margaritaville and the pool there at Grand Cayman. Looks pretty! We can hang out and enjoy the music while Daphne engages in her favorite: swimming.

I'd like to rent bikes on Castaway Cay because I've seen pictures of stuff you can only see on that "runway" trail and have heard it can be a bear to walk it if the sun is particularly brutal.

Also, since our flight out of Orlando back home doesn't leave until 7:00 PM, we're going to try to do an airboat ride with this dude (http://www.airboatride.com/testride.htm) in Christmas. Whee!

Ken and I have the Exotic Rasul scheduled for the afternoon of formal night. Woo hoo! And all of the Palo brunch and tea online ressies were full at 75 days out, so we're going to rush to Rockin' Bar D to try to do brunch as early as possible on Key West day and high tea on the semi-formal at-sea day (Thursday, right?). Wish us luck with those!

Also because of the kids, we're dining early.

As far as excursions, we'll be on our own in Key West (though I know key lime pie will be a part of those plans,) we're on the pirate encounter in Grand Cayman (with the kids,) DH and I are going to Tulum while in Cozumel, and we're going kayaking at castaway.

We'll try to make the deck 10 port side DIS party. As long as the girls keep themselves somewhat clean, they'll be wearing their Ahoy Minnie white sailor jackets with denim capris and red minnie mouse shirts. DH and I won't be so nattily dressed, I'm sure :)

I keep checking the weather forecasts to see if snow is a possibility (here in Baltimore, the answer to that is no, at least for now.) And Orlando weather: low 70s, possibility of showers. And Key West: totally sunny and 76. Sounds great to me:yay:

Cathy (I'm traveling with DH Steve, DD5 Elena and DD3 Nina. Oh and 20 other people:cheer2: .)

I started getting the kids' clothes together early last week. I have my kids' clothing in separate stacks, along with a list of what they'll be wearing. I also have all of our bath stuff, travel-sized items, and extras together in my bathroom closet. I'll probably start packing tomorrow.

As for ME, I don't even have a formal yet!! Guess I better go find one!

My sister and dad, on the other hand... Ask them when they had their wardrobes planned. Okay, you don't have to ask. I'll tell you. My dad posted THIS on our family forum. The date of the post is August 15, 2007:
Do you have your packing list completed, noting what you will wear each day? I review mine every month or so.

I have been having the kids and myself try on clothes for the last week, and today we put it all together! We always wait to the last minute because our dog....yes, our dog...gets depressed the minute she sees the suitcases and starts moping!! lol Can we say spoiled?

Our plan is to be completely finished by Tuesday...spend the day Wednesday going to lunch, getting manis/pedis, maybe seeing a movie, and just generally relaxing. Thursday morning we head to Florida!!!!! :woohoo:

Yes, my dad and I are efficient planners. Unfortunately, I started getting Daphne clothes about this time last year, and in the past three months she's had a growth spurt! She just turned 6 in November, but is wearing 7s now, so... on Thursday when she gets her final clue and realizes where we're going (if you want to follow that, I have the details in our trip report, to which there is a link in my sig line), we're going to have to do a quick wardrobe check for her. I don't have stuff out to pack yet because it will tip my hand. But I have the list and know where everything is, so it's just a matter of putting it in the correct bag and, boom, we're outie!

Those clothes, except my fancy clothes, are in a pile in the guest room. DH is not packed at all, but that's the easiest part of packing. Magnetic signs are packed. Pirate costumes are packed. T-shirts for everybody in our group are packed. Pedicure was gotten on Saturday. Manicure will be gotten Wednesday. Cat sitter will visit tomorrow night to get the run-down. Dogs to the kennel on Thursday, then off to the airport Friday morning!:cool1:

Well, better late than never I say. Would you believe I just found this board this morning and want to get to know all of you (fat chance!). Anyway, I'll be cruising this Saturday with my DH, DD, DSIL, their 4 1/2 year old triplet girls (all blondies, so you can't miss them - two are identical, one, fraternal). We'll be on deck 6 and I've made lots of door signs indicating that the Triplets are sailing! Please stop by and say "hi" or at least nod in passing in the hallway. We're all so excited. My daughter, who lives in Texas left for FLorida this morning, and I'll be leaving on Friday from Southern California and staying at the Hyatt MCO that night, going on Disney transfer bus the next morning.
We're dining at the early seating, and my DH and I have booked Palo's on the 17th which is our 4th wedding anniversary. I'm planning on indulging in a hot stone massage (which I've never had) and hanging out at the pools and the bars!
Where did you say you were all meeting? I'd love to join the group and get in on the fun. Anyone ever tried a Pomegranate Martini? They're yummy! Don't want to be too wordy now, so if you're still around and not traveling yet, please write back and let me know that you've heard from me! Thanks and see you on the Magic on Saturday!

Well Patty's group should be easy to spot! If we don't make it to the port side deck 10 sail away meeting I'm sure we'll meet in passing at the kids programs. My daughter is 4 (will be turning 5 on the ship). Victoria is pretty easy to spot with her long very dark naturally curly hair and caramel colored skin (& I'm her pastey Mama that will be desperately trying to avoid getting fried and looking like a lobster). We are totally behind and I need to get packing but we so need this break to just enjoy eachother and slow down. I can't wait to be spoiled! Looking for a spa buddy to check the place out on embark day or if they offer ladies nights? Anyone interested? My hubby runs as far as possible from these sorts of activities :(

I wish you all safe travels and an amazing week at sea!

Patty

Hi Patty!! Never too late...Michael is so right!!

Can you believe it..this will be the 3RD time that we will have triplet girls on one of our cruises!! That is a pretty cool coincidence!!

Rivercote...you and your daughter sound suspiciously like me and my daughter...could be we have some things in common! :goodvibes

I am dying here!! We had our pedis today, went out to lunch and the movies and had a wonderful day. The girls have their friends over now for games and dinner...saying their goodbyes. Tomorrow morning at 8:30 we leave for the airport!!!!

If I don't get on again tonight...which I may, I won't lie....I will see everyone at the port side of deck 10 at 5pm Saturday evening!!!! party: I can't believe this cruise if FINALLY here!!

If it hasn't been said before...thank you disboards!! :disrocks: It is soooo much fun to have people to meet and chat with before your cruise...and hopefully afterwards, a place to chat with friends you miss!!

Is it Friday yet?

Almost! It's getting close enough now, we COULD count down hours.

Patty, welcome aboard! My son will be in with your grand triplets. (I used to nanny triplet boys...two identical and one on the opposite spectrum of the universe! I loved them!)

Can't wait to meet you guys! I'm all packed except for a couple of items I'll buy on my shopping spree tomorrow. I plan to start my vacation NOW and just bask in the pre-cruise glow!

:woohoo:

Just adding a little FYI. This sailing will have sign language interpreters. (DH is Deaf.:listen: ) We've heard such amazing things about the Disney interpreters, I can't wait to meet them!

Any chance any of you guys know how to sign?

This could be totally wrong but Laura posted this in here trip report thread

My aunt's funeral was today, and my sister said she bribed her kids $5 each not to say anything to Daphne about the trip! I must say, they did a great job! It was hard for ME not to say, "See you guys Friday!" as we were leaving! (I DID say it to KWBIII, but my daughter doesn't remember sign language, so she didn't catch it. )

Correct me if I am wrong.

HSMom -- one of the members of our cruising group works at Gallaudet in Washington DC as a deaf interpreter trainer!! Her parents were both deaf and she grew up signing. Last year I helped her with final exams by coming in to do a 15 minute presentation that was interpreted by a student. Will you be on deck 10 during sailaway?

We're a group of 24. You can spot us by looking for the kids whose parents look older than average parents :goodvibes . That's because we ARE all older than average parents (our kids are between the ages of 2 and 7 and we're all in our 40s and 50s.) We also look more tired and crazy :crazy2: than your average 40 or 50 year old. That's why we REALLY need this vacation!!!!

I'm off to print out our boarding passes and get some 1s and 5s from the bank!!!!! We'll be boarding our plane 24 hours from right now :dance3:  :dance3:  :dance3:

Hi Sandra,

I can tell you our Server Svet was not only efficient but entertaining he always helped cut the food of the children at our table. He also seemed to have a brain teaser for the adults at dessert time. If you do end up getting him tell him Ron, Michael and Caroline say hi!

Enjoy your cruise and let me know what you think.

We had Chintana from Thailand as our head server and Marcellito from the Philippines as our assistant server. Both were GREAT!!!!!!!!!! One evening later in the cruise, DD3 had to use the restroom the minute my hot delicious food was served to me. Chintana saw me trying to hide my irritation (DD3 often has to use the restroom during meals and I often end up eating cold food.) Since they had just served us our food, they weren't particularly busy so she offered to take DD3 to the restroom. They were gone awhile and when they came back, Chintana said the nearest bathroom was too busy, so they went up a deck and went to another one. Now THAT is real service (not that I'd let any waitress in any restaurant do that!)

Our room steward Danny was also wonderful (mid-ship, starboard side, 6th level.)

Our head server was Pirom and the assistant server Vally. Vally was sweet and quiet, and we often saw him somewhere at other meal times (breakfast at Topsiders, lunch at Pluto's Dog House). Pirom had neat "magic" tricks and puzzles for the kids.

Our room host was awesome. If we had a shirt thrown across the dresser, he'd hang it up. Sweet. I noticed on the "feminine product" bag, it said, "The maid has been instructed to discard" or something like that. Oh well. Hopefully he doesn't find that offensive. It's better than the French version, to which he is referred as the "femme du chambre" or something like that... the lady of the room. Nice.

I did notice that our steward was out in the hall folding towels and cleaning pretty much every time I was in the hallway. The same with the Deck 9 maintenance guys (I mentally noted every time I saw the man I first noticed polishing the metal kick plates under the towel boxes five minutes after we boarded, and it seemed like he was constantly there), the Aft 3rd and 4th deck restroom hostess, and the fitness center trainer.

We loved the trip (see the report and pictures to which I linked in my signature)! But I can't even imagine trying to plan another one right this second. I need a few weeks (or months) to recover. :)

My daughter cried herself to sleep last night, repeating the mantra, "I miss that ship. I miss that ship so much." She keeps asking, "What was your favorite thing about being on the ship?" Well, actually, now that I have to go dust... :sad2:

Was yours one of the rooms where the sewage backed up? I met a guy on Deck 7 aft who was telling me about a block of starboard rooms with a plumbing problem resulting in stuff overflowing into the floor one night/morning...

Hi there everyone. Chris and I just got back in today after two days at WDW after the cruise. The cruise was soooooo Perfect. I cried like a baby on the last night like I always do. I had to have another trip planned before I could get off the ship so we are already booked to go on another one next year on January 17th. We decided to try the Eastern this time. Oh well another year of waiting and planning....

Sandra,

I believe that you'll have a server who does a great job REGARDLESS!! If you read around these forums much, you'll see that there are awesome servers on the ship. The standard for all is set high and, from what I see, they all meet or exceed that.

I wanna go back now!!

Our head server was Pirom. The assistant was Vally. My kids looked forward to seeing them every night. In fact, when they didn't want to wake up Saturday morning, what got them out of bed was my saying, "If you don't get up, you won't get to see Pirom one last time."

When we got home, I asked the kids what was their favorite part of the cruise. This was Mackenzie's (6 yo dd) answer: "The characters and the servers."
Hannah (8 yo dd) said, "The servers and the pool."

Can you imagine? I'm going to let DCL know what they said. For the servers to be ranked up there with characters and swimming...you know they gotta be great!

Pirom did magic tricks with crayons and had several riddles that stumped even the adults at the table. He tied on the kids' bandannas on Pirate Night, and gave them special attention during their 2 staff "parades" in the dining room. The kids liked that he smiled and waved at them when he was up in front of the entire dining room. :)

(The kids enjoyed Vally, too, but he was truly the assistant server. He let Pirom take the lead while he quietly brought us our drinks and other items. He was friendly, called my son by name each night, and always brought us whatever we needed, including our beverages just like we liked them each night.)

Rodolfo was our room steward. (midship, deck 8, portside) The kids loved the nightly towel animals. For the first 2 nights, I let them believe what they had decided...that Mickey himself had come and made the animals and left the chocolates. By the 3rd night, I decided to give credit where it was due and told them Rodolfo was Mickey's special helper and HE was the talent making the cool animals. From then on, they were thrilled to see him in the halls (almost always he was out there).

I wanna go back!!!!!!!

Before last August's Med cruise I would have believed you. But on the 11 NT cruise last summer our server was horrible, unfriendly and incompetent. It wasn't just us, we sat at a table with 2 other couples who had also been on several Disney cruises and they were appalled at the lack of service. We went to Guest Services but with a full cruise ship there wasn't anyplace to go in the dining room. We ate most of our meals at Topsiders. It was better than dealing with the wait staff in the dining room. That is why I'm asking for recommendations of servers people felt were good.

The servers at our other 2 Disney cruises were wonderful so I know last summer was not the norm.

Hi Guys!

As I have stated before this was my 7th cruise overall, but first with disney. It did not take me long to realize my wait staff was BY FAR the best I had ever had.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u31/Corndog819/L1040151.jpg

Evandro (RAMBO) and Sompong

My guys were a bunch of comedians. The first night I ordered a soup and when I got it I started talking to the people at the table.

So Sompong comes over ans says "Cris, Stop talking, soup getting cold."
At that point I realize it's a chilled soup.

On two seperate occasions. Someone would ordered something and then someone would ask for the "same thing" well, according to Rambo and Sompong ordering the "same thing" gets you

Myself doing the whole cruise thing a number of times, I had requested a table of 3 (4 really) so we did not have to get stuck in a table of 8 more than likely with a bunch of people we wouldn't normally have anything in common with.

Well guess what, We got "stuck" at a table of 8. And, seeing as none of the 3 mini-groups had met before I must say we were the greatest table of 8 ever. We seriously spent every evening before dinner together and the show and the hour and 15 minutes in between. The first night at the show, there was a girl who sat in front of us and I remember my friend saying "look at this girl" pointing out her pink highlights. Well turns out, this girl is 17 and she is at our table. Go figure. She is traveling with her mom and her sister 13 and they were from Brisbane, Australia. The other two at the table was a man and his daughter 12. He was actually in the coast guard stationed in Oxnard about 50 miles from where we were from. She was born in Oxnard.

Anyways, my group and the 17 year old girl Alicia got along like peas in a pod and for the most part we were up to around 3AM each night just talking on deck. After the cruise, they flew to Santa Monica and stayed there where we went and visited them on two separate occasions. We pretty much convinced ourselfs that either we are going to Australia or she is coming here (Santa Barbara) within 12 months.

Bottom Line, best cruise ever. Who would have thought 4 older teens would have had the time of their lives on a Disney Ship. I guess the old saying goes, dont judge a book by it's cover.

P.S. Here are a couple shots I took.
