Can you buy less than 150 points if you purchase a resale, even if you don't currently own any? I know when you buy from Disney, there is a minimum of 150.
I.E. Could I buy 100 points resale to start, and then purchase more later?

I am not sure about this, but I think 150 is the minimum point for initial ownership, no matter where you buy. This is because it would be difficult to stay anywhere for long on only 100 points.
Present owners of contracts have a deeded interest that they can sell. Buying a small contract (e.g. 100 points) from a resale would likely be expensive, since the closing costs and transfer fee would add about $4 - $5 / point cost. Since Disney has the right of first refusal on all contracts, they might elect to buy the points at the negotiated price, rather than let a small contract go to someone who does not already have membership.
If you are willing to pay a high enough price, then I suspect that the deal would go through, although I would question the value to you of having only a small contact.

It is not prohibited. However, Disney may exercise right of first refusal in a situation where the new owner will have less than 150 points. Also, the closing cost issue mentioned above is something to consider. Closing costs are fairly fixed and thus whether you buy a 50 point contract or a 200 point contract your closing costs will still be in the $450 to $500 range. As a result a 50 point $65 per point resale will actually cost close to $75 a point with closing costs added while a 200 point resale at $65 a point works out to about $67.50 a point with closing costs added.
