Would it be worth it for me to put our house expenses (car, gas, groceries) on a Disney Visa to earn the reward points?
For those of you that have one, I'm going in December so would it be worth it for me to get one and use it starting in April and then get reward cards before our trip?
Thanks - Diane:confused3

We currently charge whatever expenses we can so we get the points on our disney card.
Just be sure to pay off your bill each month, otherwise you will end up paying out more interest than you are gaining in rewards!
I put everything I can on my Disney Visa...gas, pay bills, shop. I always use the rewards points towards the purchase our annual passes, usually paying for one of them completely and part of the second one. You get 1 pt for every $100 dollars you charge...so you could figure it out that way and decide how much you would have? HTH
We never carry a balance...always pay it off each month. Free money!

You are limited to 750 rewards dollars per year, or 75K in charges. If you are paying for everything with it, you may max out.

I put everything on mine. Gas, groceries, cell phone, DirecTV, ISP, insurance, etc. Anything that I would normally pay in full each month goes on the Disney VISA. I say go for it. You'll rack up points fast between now and then. I've only been doing this since Dec '06, and I have earned 65+ rewards points already.
As soon as you have your first 20 rewards, I would go ahead and order the Disney Rewards Card if I were you. My trip is not until Nov '07, but I ordered my card in January because I had enough rewards points to do so. This way, when my statement drops just before we leave on our trip, one simple click will put all available rewards on the card that is already in hand, and I'm set to go.

But beware that the rewards cards expire, so make sure you time your cashing out not too far in advance.

How many points do I need to get 1 annual pass? Is there a chart that tells you. I don't want to make this big change without knowing what I can really get.
Thanks - Diane:goodvibes

Diane,
I also use the Disney Visa for everything I can and pay it off at the end of each month. Just found out last month that you can charge your car insurance to it. I figure I will use it now to rack up as many points as I can for my July trip. I just love free $$$$. I plan to use the points to pay for any extra meals (we are on DDP) and souveniers etc. so that we don't have to pay oop.
Good Luck making your decision.

When you cash your rewards out from your credit card to your disney rewards card, each 'point' is equal to $1. You can then use your disney rewards card to purchase what you want to from the disney store, disneyshopping.com, or use it in disneyworld. I just used mine at disneyshopping.com to buy disney gift cards. This way, the gift cards don't expire, plus I shopped thru SR and got 10% back in my SR account (last months promo).
HTH!

Thanks for the advice, Marsha. :thumbsup2 My rewards card doesn't expire until 12/08, and my trip is 11/07. I will use all my rewards for this trip - no doubt. After the trip, I won't transfer any more points to my card until I know when I am going back to WDW again. If my next trip is after 12/08, then I won't transfer to this card - I'll order a new one.

I don't put everything on my disney visa since I have a few other reward credit cards but I do pay most of the 'bills' with it!

I pay my cable, cell phone, insurance (cars, homeowners, umbrella policy), misc. shopping, Disney Gift Cards (that's for you Dzny Dreams) and whatever else I can except groceries, gasoline, and drug store purchases, which I put on my Citicard, which gives 2% up to $300 cash back. After I hit the $300 limit with Citicard, everthing goes on Disney Visa. Of course I don't carry a balance on either since that would negate any rewards!
Last year we had $300+ in cash from Citi & $298 on our Disney Rewards Card to use at WDW for extras!!

Oh cool! I was just sitting here wondering what other cards were out there that pay better than 1%. I have the Chase freedom card, but I can't remember what it pays. I know it's better than 1%, so I might oughta look into that. The problem is that I do a lot of my shopping at Wal-Mart, and the "everyday grocery expenses" must be from a grocery store, not Wal-Mart/Super Target. I've also heard that not all gas purchases get credited as such since most "gas stations" are now convenience stores. We could start an entire thread about just this - "How to get the most from your reward credit cards."::yes::

TOTALLY understand!! We Dis'ers are a special breed!! :thumbsup2 If it makes you feel any better, I was a bad dog "mom" and thought the same thing about myself earlier this week when I had to bring my dog to the vet to get a biopsy! I didn't even flinch when the DEPOSIT was $600...I thought oh good $6 in rewards!! :rotfl2:

If you have children in a private high school or college check with the school to see if they accept Visa for the tuition payments. I was able to pay for my DDs high school tuitions with the Disney Visa and one semester of college tuition. The college has since instituted a fee to use Visa and it is higher than what I would make in rewards.

O, so true. Yesterday as we went for another xray and still more to come I was starting to get a little frustrated with how many times they want to see my daughter. Every time is money! I just had to tell myself Disney dollars, disney dollars.
Yesterday I went through my bills to see which ones take a credit card. I will start doing that. a dollar here and there is still free DISNEY money.

We put most of our purchases on the disney visa. Especially the monthly bills like direct tv etc. Instead of paying them with the debit card, I would rather get the 1% back.
As for being excited about the drs bill, I remember snapping with dh when he asked me how I wanted him to pay for a huge vet bill. Well DUH on the cc of course! If I am going to spend that much $$ I want to at least get 1% back from it! lol :rotfl2:
We recently bought a temperpedic mattress and I was bummed that the store wouldn't give us a cash discount, but knowing I was going to earn disney $$ off that $4k purchase (charged it since there was no discount for paying cash) would made up for it.
