Season Slide Mount Progress thread

Due date is March 28th (that is when I need to receive your package. Please mail packages out by March 24th with DELIVERY CONFIRMATION. I will wait be mailing them back out on March 30th. This is firm because now we are in travel soccer & track season!


Please check in by March 14th or your spot will be angeled!!

The "rules" –
1. Choose your season – Make 2 slide mounts for each person (total of 16 per group).

2. PM me with your DIS name, name, home address, email address, and phone numbers. Email and phone numbers will only be used to follow up if I have not heard from you. For those who have swapped with me in the past, I have your info. If I have missed placed it I will let you know.

3. Post your weekly status on the Progress thread - which will be posted after the slots are filled. You must check in 2 weeks prior to the due date by March 14th. If I have not heard from you by then, I will send you a pm or an email. I WILL ANGEL YOUR SPOT IF I DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU WITHIN TWO DAYS OF THE PM OR EMAIL.

4. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with ship info and received info.

5. Packing Instructions – PLEASE use a separate baggie for each person and put everything for that person into their bag. Please label each bag with your name so we know who made each element. You‘ll have 8 bags to enclose in the larger (gallon size) bag for each group you are in - be sure to include your name, your DIS name and your group number on the larger baggie. Include $4.05 for postage (or stamps if you don't want to send cash) to return your items. Delivery Confirmation is $0.50.
Please don’t send metered or click-it/ship-it postage – some hostesses have had issues with these. If you would like to send it to me a cheaper route that is fine, just let me know.

6. PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.

7. There will be 8 people per group. There will be a total of 2 groups. If there is overwhelming response, I will open one more group.

Okay, group 2.. make your 16 slides.. DDavis and I are going to split our set.. so don't fret about anything.. just package them like you would...but when I return them.. you will get one from me & one from DDavis in a baggie...so you will still only get 16 back, a full set!!! Is that explained well enough...
So, you only make 16 in group 2... just make the normal batch!!!

Our basement flooded from all the rain so I had to get a sump pump and a dumpster. Everything that was on the floor and the bottom shelves is destroyed. Plus all the cabinetry that was down there. DS5 is very sensitive to mold so I can't leave it down there until we get back from WDW.
Hopefully if I can get everything squared away I can hammer out the slide mounts when we get back. I just have to see how much the dumpster is going to be, The bad part is since everything is still wet it's going to weigh a ton!

Do you have the Governement flood insurance? Most home owner's insurance will not cover this.

I have the cardstock bases cut out. But I cracked my cutting pads. So I need to find new ones before I can cut out the pretty paper to cover the plain white bases.

But luckily my Cord Scrapbook Studio had the Ellison ones. So I picke up two sets.
I can start on these as soon as my monthly one is done.

Can I ask a dumb question? :confused: Can I make the slide mount out of just card stock or does it need to be also made out of chipboard first? I was ready to make them and I got stuck before I even started. Thanks! :)

Like the ones you buy professional for real slides. They are kinda like a sleeve you slide your slide into. So it would be two separate pieces joined together or one piece folded. So a sleeve you would cut in half, front & back to make two frames or put foam inbetween to make the shaker.

Right, those are professional slide mounts. Those are acid free (as is any photo paper) since they are used for photo negatives. That's what I've often used as a backing. I've gotten them in bulk. I don't know that I will do that for these.

I know what I'm doing for designs, but I need to finish a couple of other swaps first. These won't take long to do.......That's my update, too!

Thanks for the updates everyone!!! I haven't started mine yet..but I know what I am doing.. I need to get through this hectic week w/ school activities; 4-H meetings, and the like.. I'll probably get a lot done on Wed. cause DH is going out of town.. NO reason for him to drive to the Chicago area and back in one day.. besides I think we need a little down time after spending the past 3 weekends together at basketball games!! WE were again one game away from qualifing for the state finals.. poor guys lost by 3 points.. we really won by 6 points had the first 3 shots not rolled around that darn rim and fell out! One more time to qualify this weekend. everyone send pixie dust.. these boys so deserve this...

Me too.. We have been one game away every weekend.. The boys get to the championship game.. that win will get us to state..and we fall short either 3-5points!!! :( These little guys want it so bad though.. you can see it... DS took on a boy that was twice his size yesterday..and earned the respect of the big boy because DS kept blocking him out and in his face jumping.. The big boy even told DS that he was amazed at how well he played and wasn't scared of him since he was such a little guy! (This 5th grader is 5' 10" already!)

Same here! Plus, often when I receive them, they are leaking all over the package. I often put something inside the frame, though, so it's like a framed square.

Sometimes you get just the right gap in the "mounting" tapes that lets the little beads escape and such. I had one come in -in a recent swap.. so I kept it and made sure all the others were sealed nice and tight.. I hope they were all still sealed up good when they arrived to you. I still haven't fixed the one I received yet.. it'll be an easy fix but I haven't had time.. Before I send the slide mount ones out, I'll check to make sure nothing is leaking.

Yes, the foam craft squares should eliminate that!!! :)
Just sometimes when you are "butting" up the mounting tape.. there can be just the littlest gap that can cause problems..

Mine.. We have a new little girl (can't be much over 18) delivering the mail. She was very sweet and apologized for being so late. I assured her that it wasn't an issue..that we are the "older" neighborhood (I live in a subdivision that has all elderly families but 2 of us!) in town so we go at a much slower pace then the rest of town! :rotfl:

Mine went this morning Priority with DC.
I made squares from the inside pieces and sent them too. I just couldn't through away the paper & I know I'll never use them again myself as is. So I use the white cardstock as background, pretty paper on top and embellished to match the slides. Hope you all don't mind.

Ok. I have 1 sick DS (cough & sore throat), 1 DH at work with the car because I have 1 car in the shop for an inspection. I also have 1 DD at home as usual. So, that means I have to borrow a car to take DS to the doctor. He is in no shape to also go to the post office. I'll mail it all tomorrow. Promise! :)

Pizzazz huh?? No help here. It took me forever to figure mine out. They turned out really cute, I just hope they get there in 1 piece. I think I may sandwich them in some cardboard so they don't get ruined.

Things are crazy nuts here!! DH is out of town, I ran out of tape for my tape runner at 11:45 last night. I'm late getting my CJ out. And the house looks like it exploded! Other than that things are just peachy! LOL
Lisa just left a little while ago though and brought me mounds of tape so I'm good on that now. Mom is on her way over to watch the inmates so I can go to Wally World to get the transparency paper. Now all I need is to re copy the pics of the CJ (they were waaayyy to dark) and I'll be almost back on track. Oh and I need to buy brads for my Prima Swap but I can do that tomorrow. DD has her 1 year check up tomorrow so I'll be out anyway.

Update: Chille just called and we are headed to ACMoore tonight to get stuff so I'll grab my brads! :cool1:

How big is the print? Could you cut out one of the leaves to mount it above the same on the slide, just a little 3-D effect? Or do you have some that liquid crystal effect to put on one leaf to make it shiny in just that spot?

Looks like there are twenty animals. So at 2 inches per animal I can probably get 10 animals out of a 6 x 12 since the Cricut leaves, what I think is a lot, of space between items and board around the whole thing. That means you get to punch me out how ever many will come out of a green 12x12. Hope your hands are up to it. :rotfl: I would prefer a darker green myself. And feel free to use up your scrap greens and then throw in some primary colors too please. It'll look cool on the page to have some of those on it with the tree.

I need to finish up the replace elements for my monthly swap (shaker boxes bad, don't ask) and then I'll cut these out for you. Probably get them in mail by Tuesday.

Take your time, I'm in no hurry! It looks like some of the smaller animals like the squirrel, the owl, and the kangaroo are smaller than the others so maybe 1 1/2 on those if you can go that small.

Do you want the primary colors that I used for the pizza stuff, I still have some paper left over. For the leaves do you want textured paper?

Oh and these punches are really nice, they have a lever on them. :teeth:

I really really like it. I've used it tons on swapping items and preschool pages already. I've read where that if you place a value on $1 on each time you cut something than can determine if the purchase was valid. All the carts I've opened I've recouped my money. I got the AK one for the farm animals. Our preschool graduation ceremony theme is "Down on the Farm" so I am going to make awesome pages for that. That is my next cart to open.

Mine would have been mailed last week except that I couldn't get my !@#$%^&* shaker boxes to come out right :mad: I think I have about 32 of them in the trash right now... I kept making all of them, then when I saw them in the morning, I was..."These are terrible...I can't send these..."

I hope the final result works. Can I ask, has anyone tried to use a zyron for sticking the foam to the transparency? I got that brainstorm in the car today...duh...think it would work?

I cut the foam with the sizzix, then was using my reg Scotch tacky adhesive which I have used on my other boxes... That was the last incarnation, and they seemed to be sticking and looked nicest of them all...I never thought about using the double stick tape...duh....

I think I'll post the question on the scrapping board too, and see what others are using for adhesives...I know I've gotten some swaps where the shaker boxes have "spilled their guts" so I can't be the only one with this question.

The other incarnations were cut up to get the beads out...and they were trashed. I never thought about sending extras along with the swap stuff...I have boxes of prototypes that didn't "make the cut" :)

There is this double sided sticky tape that stampin-up sells that is really thin and it is really sticky!! That would be the best, cause it will stick to anything even metal! and once it is stuck to something, that's it! Nothing is going to remove it!

Give Stacy (Caitsmama) a PM if you need some, it is not expensive, but she is a stampin-up consultant and can get you some!

And, believe me....That's what I usually do!! That's why I ruptured a tendon in my ankle in November which will eventually require reconstruction surgery! I have an ice pack on it now because I'm getting ready to go to a rehearsal tonight. My ankle will be double in size tomorrow. It's a good thing I'm otherwise in pretty good shape...I can modify my choreography moves to fake the problem somewhat!

Each song is choreographed to fit the song, so it just depends on the rhythm or meaning of the song, etc. We have to be able to maintain good breath support throughout the moves because we're singing as well. I'm twisting on my ankle, though. I just do it so fast they don't notice I'm doing it on the good one instead of the other one!Since I work in the field of rehab, I'm know how to modify moves to make it easier.

I love this verison of the tree of life. What a neat idea. I have the cricut but I only have the George Cart (just got my machine) and on Tuesday my Mickey & Friends Cart should be here. Can't wait.
