Online Passport Application

For anyone needing to get a passport I highly recommend filling out the online application at the passport website, you still print it out for your guarantor to sign and for your signature but then all the other info is already in the Passport Canada database. When you go to the passport office you tell the person handing out the numbers you filled it out online and they give you a different number system which bypasses the people with applications filled out by hand. I just went to the Hamilton office this morning and there were 20 people ahead of me by 8am, by 8:45am when they opened there were about 80 people. I was done by 9am and on my way home.:banana:

This was my experience as well...

In retrospect, it probably cheesed off the other people who had been waiting... Does anyone know if they publish this little tidbit of information somewhere? I got this tip from a friend who had recently got his passport renewed, not from the site. I'm not sure where the got the info from.

Yes,

they do publish this on the main passport site. And they recommend you do that to make it easier/faster. I personally didn't do it, but I went in person...in an out within one hour (but still woulda been quicker had I done it online)

I was in and out in under 45 minutes. I did mine online but I also had my 2 kids forms that were regular applications (you can't do the under 16 online yet) and I still got to use the "faster" desk. I bypassed at least 20 people ! :cool1: I would strongly advise that you do the online version. :surfweb:
