Boy, these boards are a little quite lately.
L & M keeps popping up. They are showing great rates. Enough to get a faithful EC member interested.
Let's here your experience.
Soup to nuts... Anyone use them?

Me too. I'm hearing of great rates, but I shy away due to no web site. I'm thinking of taking my National reservation printout to L&M to see if they can beat it next month.

We've used L and M a few times with no problems; except my usual trouble with Hispanic accents! Cars were fine; departure and arrival procedures were not burdensome. We've used every car rental agency in the MCO terminal, and a few offsite, with little or no particular problems. I prefer National and the Emerald Aisle but if someone beats their rate substantially I will go with the cheaper. We're using L and M next month for a five day rental; made the reservation thru Travelocity; and no one is coming close to the rate.;)

We used L&M last February and had no problems with them. We had a mini van, a Nissan Quest, and it was very nice! We are using them again this coming February again. We got a weekly rate of $86.00 plus $24.50 per day for two extra days for an economy car. We had to go through the internet to get this rate though. I think it was through Travelocity.

Thanks Pluto. The MCO web site does not have a link for L&M. I'll look them up.
An aside, we were notified by our claims folks not to refer people to Alamo for replacement vehicles. We do not use them up here, but down around the airport, I guess Alamo solicits replacement vehicles to the agents down there. We were told it was due to the chapter 11 procedings. This took effect yesterday.

OK, I'm back from the L&M web site. I just reserved a full size car for 12 days. $166.50 before taxes. I've got to wait till I get home this afternoon to compare to my National reservation. I'm sure it is a lot cheaper. I'll let you know.

Their website was posted in another thread:
http://www.lmcarrental.net/main.html
I tried my May dates and got $81 for a midsize for the week! That's before taxes, but a very good rate! They cannot guarantee it at this point because it is too far in advance.

This seems to good to be true. I just made a reservation through the internet site provided above and I got a weekly rate for a minivan in January of 129.95. I would be crazy not to keep this reservation.

I didn't have much luck. For 12 days (end of June, beginning of July) he insisted he had to charge me at the rate for 2 full weeks - at $99 per week for full - still not too bad, but with all the added taxes (no ins.) total was up to $293. I did better with discounts at National.
caverill
12-19-2001, 01:21 PM
L&M was a little cheaper (92.50 -vs- 100.50) then National EA. I do get discounts with National due to the DC.
I think I will stick with National, but will sure look forward to reading other reviews.
What type of cars does L&M use?

By looking at the estimated taxes on their website, and national's breakdown, it appears as they are around 30-35% You're post puts them around 50%.

Just switched 3 national ressies. One in January, 2 in March. $26/day for a minivan. Ended up being a couple of dollars more than a full size at National. I called all cars are 2001-2002.
Full size - Taurus, Crown Victoria's etc
Minivans - Sepphia?, Windstar
Covertible - Mustangs and Eclipses.
I figure even if it takes 15 minutes at the counter, at least I don't have to cram into a full size if that's all the EA has. Plus I was told that you can do returns at the garage counter.
Here are there rates for taxes and fees (same as all)
Fee Amount
Florida Surcharge Tax $2.05 per day
Airport Fee 8.75% of the amount of rental
Sales Tax 6% of the amount of rental
Veh. Lic. Reg. Fee $1.69 per day
No DC discount "yet". I booked right from there website, didn't even use travelocity. The site seems fairly new, low tech, but to the point.
Hey it never hurts to try. I will hold my March ressies at National until I return in January from my first experience.

OK, I just checked the existing National reservation I have for the same 12 days. National is $281.35 and that is with a DC discount and one free day coupon.
L&M works out to be $235.94 with the tax's figured in.
It looks like I'm about to try L&M in 27 days and 16 hours!!!!!!
PS: L&M also gave me a guote for a full size in April for 4 days of approx. $78 with tax's added in. It is too far out to lock in the price. Right now I have a Dollar full size with discount booked for $173.12.

The rates from L&M are so low its unbelievable!! I checked a compact for our 11 day trip in April/May and its only $102.00 plus the taxes!! I already had a great rate with Dollar which I will hang onto until I can guarantee this rate. Anyone out there who has had any experience please let us all know how it was or how it turns out? When I called the MCO location to see what kind of vehicles they had the agent was very courteous and helpful.

Just used L&M last week. Our minivan was a Kia, worked well and was in good shape. They did not have my reservation in their computer but did honor my confirmation. Make sure you bring any documentation that you have. Also, I had read that you had to return to the counter after dropping your car off but this was not required for us. They were able to accept return at their booth in the garage. Remember to bring your contract with you when you return your car, mine was packed and this caused some delay. My overall feeling is that they don't quite have their act together but their prices are hard to beat. I would consider using them again.
Pluto4President
12-20-2001, 01:25 PM
Well they aren't totally automated yet. A footnote, if you are going to waive the insurance, you need to bring proof of your own auto iinsurance.
Pluto - I NEVER thought you would go anywhere else but National!
I really like the employees on the phone, very courteous. I saw their car lot last month, right next to National. I am a big fan of "the little guy". If their rates remain as good as they are, and their service keeps up, I have no qualms about it. National is easy, but $$ is $$. As long as all works out. We'll see in January!

I just used L & M a couple weeks ago. On our way to the dollar counter, they called us over and offered us a few dollars per day off. We took it. Gave us keys, walked out, gave slip to girl in booth, she gave the space number where we'd find our 2002 toyota corolla. it was in great shape, smelled good (no smoke). Watch the gas -fill it up yourself - their rate is $4.99 per gallon! Other than that, it was very easy. Returned to airport, gave slip to guy in the booth, we were on our way. I just booked with them again for next month - $18/day (before taxes) for a full size! i just want to make sure i get that email confirmation and print it and take it with me. It's WELL worth the little inconvenience of going to the counter, in my opinion. Especially, now that i've used them, i'm not at all worried; very friendly bunch.
also, we did not need to provide proof of other insurance but it would not hurt to have it anyways.

DVC-Don
12-26-2001, 11:27 AM
You will not really need to take the policy. The Declarations page is the best bet. It is usually just a one page thing. That lists the named insured, the coverages that you buy and the policy time span. The policy just lists everything that is availible. Just because it is in the policy, you still have to look at the Dec Page to see if you purchased it.

Don - you're killing me :)
Why don't you change your status to DIS Senior Citizen :D
and we had very little trouble with L&M. When we arrived at the counter the car was not ready for us, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes. The car we were assigned was a 2002 Toyota Corrola (economy class). It was very nice (still looked like a new car, and so did all of their other cars that we saw). The staff was courteous; however, most of them had accents that were very hard to understand. We were asked to show our insurance card when we declined the insurance. Like someone mentioned earlier, they do charge $4.99 a gallon for gas, so make sure you return it on full. Gas prices ranged from .95 to $1.05 in the Orlando area. We were able to complete the return paperwork in the garage. This took just a few minutes.
We booked through Travelocity, which was $10 cheaper than booking through L&M's website. Their website says that you will get a 10% discount if you call and mention the website.
We will definitely use them again- their prices seem hard to beat. We have also found great rates at Payless, but they are outside of the airport terminal.

We used L&M in December - got a KIA Sephia minivan for $149 for the week, which was substantially less than anyone else had. Car was in great shape; we declined insurance but were not asked for proof of ours.
Just one other customer in line when we got the car, but a bit of a backlog when we returned it in the garage. Returning took maybe 10 minutes. We did not have to go into the terminal to complete any return stuff.
For the savings, I'd take them any day. :-)

Thanks for the great tip on L&M car rental. After reading this thread several days ago I decided to make a reservation on their Website. They said I would receive an email confirmation within 12 to 24 hours but I never did receive one. So I followed it up with an email note to their reservations area and still have not heard from them. So, today I went to the Travelocity Website and made a reservation through them for L&M. I'm glad I did because not only did I receive written confirmation but I wound up getting a better price for the same days and car category. Savings of over $20!

I rented from L&M on Tuesday, January 15. I had gotten a price of 114.83 for 10 days
for a mid sized car. When I checked the web site again it had gone up to 174. In had
printed out my rate and brought it with me. I have to say In would highly recommend
them. There was no line & it took about 5 minutes. They said they upgraded me to full
size a Kia Optima. When we got the car we realized there was no radio antena so I
went back and they gave me a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant with jut 1200 miles on it. Even with
having to get another car it only took about 20 minutes.

I went ahead and reserved a minivan for the first week in June. The quote was $159.95; add in the taxes and fees and it comes to $209.68 total. Not bad when others are close to $400/wk. I tried to get a quote through travelocity but L&M wouldn't even come up. I got it to show about a month ago but not since then. I don't know why????
Hopefully I will even get a lower rate but I would be happy with what I got.

Thanks for the report Pluto!! I was wondering about their minivans. The one on the website looks like a Windstar and the Kia Sepphia everyone keeps talking about must be a Kia Sadoma. I think the Sepphia is a much smaller car (but not sure). But it is nice to know there are also Mercury Villagers. Any Dodge Caravans? And are the seats power adjustable? (Very short so I need power driver seat!!!:D )
Have a great time at Disney!!

pb - no laptop sorry, sitting in the internet cafe aboard the Disney Magic - a little better than a lap top:D
frisky - they had a kia minivan, not sure the model, I asked for the villager. As for power seats, nope. Power windows, locks, rear a/c, rear stero control, remote key chain etc. Didn't see windstar, but they had loads of vans. All looked like they were in pretty good shape.
All in all, the experience was a pleasure, considering that I got a minivan for $195 with taxes for 8 full days. That was only $20 more than my fullsize with National.
The L&M lot is right next to the National lot. When you go up the escalator, it's first lot as you make a left, instead of first if you make a right.
The counter is just passed the National counter. No lines, and it was a breeze.
THEY DID ASK FOR INSURANCE PAPERS THOUGH!!!! I brought my declaration page and that was fine.

Pluto, could you please check to see what all they have for Luxury Cars when you return your minivan? Also, I got the rate of about $100 less than Dollar with L&M for a minivan, but it says that my dates are too far in advance. How far away from the pick-up date can you book?
One more question! :) They are telling me that a luxury car would be $741 while National is saying $460. Why is L&M's luxury car 3 times the price of their minivan?
Thanks! :)

I was a little surprised when I received the email and my virus program did its thing.
Then to find out it was from them really blew me away. I sure hope it was just their mailing/address book list. the virus was w32.badtransb@mm.enc and w32.bddtransb@mm
I copied the link so you all can see it.
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html
This also covers the one with the "enc" at the end.
Sort of makes me edgy that a major company does not have a warning in place for things like this, but, of course they could be using Windows NT and never know about it.

wonder if they would accept a photo copy of your current ....insurance "proof"...
would save having to take the proof out of the car and perhaps losing it in a day of magic in florida....
just wonder if they would accept that....but i do not think i will email them to ask......

Does your insurance card work for proof of insurance??
I sent them an email asking that very question. They said the insurance card/wallet card was acceptable. If you want to see the actual text of the reply, you can read my post on page 5 of this thread.
L& M seems to have great prices, I got a minivan for $213/week !! The bad news, I got a virus from them. Thankfully, my Norton antivirus program worked. I would have thought they would have corrected the virus problem Gail reported two days ago already. I called them also to tell them of the virus. They acted as if it was all new news to them.. Humm Should I be worried about their reliability??

Rolo,
Guess they don't read their email. I wrote and told them about the problem with the virus.
I also lodged a complaint about their reservation agent. She was beyond rude. I FINALLY got an email today recognizing the incident. Also an offer for a discounted rate on a car.
This complaint was emailed on the 4th of Jan. Not particularly timely in the customer service area, IMHO.
Pluto and a few others have had good luck with them, and I think that is great, but, I am not taking the chance here. I went through priceline and paid about 10.00 more for the week through Avis. I know Avis.

the rates i got for a minivan during Pres Week blew away the other carriers such as Aivs and Dollar who we have used in the past...i found the best rate was when i called L&M directly - i saved money from Travelocity and from L&M's website.
The only issue I had was the man stated he could not give me a confirmation number over the phone and when i asked if he could email one to me he said he could not. I thought this was strange...i followed up with an email to their company on 1/2/02; and after no response, i emailed again on 1/16/02 AND FINALLY RICHARD emailed me back on 1/23 stating our reservations were confirmed BUT HE GAVE NO CONFIRM NUMBERS.
I guess this should be ok....not sure why I could get no confirm numbers?
we got a rate on the minivans at 149.99/wk and 29.99/xtra day.
DO YOU THINK I NEED CONFIRMATION NUMBERS AND WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO GET FROM THEM??? I think bringing the email should be fine..

dtuleya -Here's a link to their site:
L & M Car Rental (http://www.lmcarrental.net/main.html)
I have reserved a minivan from Sat 3/30 to Mon 4/8 (9 days) for $159.99/week plus $31.99/extra day. Beats most of the majors who wanted about $450-500 for the same time period, but I wonder if I could save anymore calling direct.
BTW - Is there a counter in the terminal or do we walk straight out to the garage?
TIA, Steve

From L&M management team:
We would like to thank everyone, who has visited our website at lmcarrental.net.
We have been reading your responses. We are aware that you might have questions that may not have been answered.
We would like to point out some basic information that may be useful to you regarding our company in Orlando International Airport.
We have been in business over 30 years. In orlando airport the last 2 years. We do have other companies nationwide but they are not under the name L&M.
We are so excited about your site and your responses, that we would like to gurantee the lowest rates in Orlando International Airport to you no matter what our website rates are. Also we like to remind you that we will match and beat any cofirmed reservation rate of any car rental company Orlando Airport.
Some of you have questioned us regarding some unanswered emails. There may have been some emails overlooked, but we have assigned and designated a person to answer all your emails starting Tuesday jan 28.
We value your business and we are going to do whatever necessary to make you happy with your car rental needs.

Did you guys get confirmation numbers?
Yes, I received a confirmation number when booking thru the website. It was WEBxxxx (the x's represent the 4 digit numbers at the end). The confirmation numbers are still in the low 200's, I think I remember Pluto saying he had a lower number..double digits?
Why can't I now find L & M on Travelocity? earlier this month i saw them listed....
I don't know. I also found them on Travelocity couple of weeks ago, went to L&M's own web site to compare rates and when I went back to Travelocity, they were gone. Maybe they are cutting costs on commissions by trying to handle their own online ressies.

We are on travelocity, however based on number of reservations that we receive and the Date from time to time we close our reservation system that incourage people to book through our website. We pay a very high fee by getting bookings from Travelocity.

Am I doing something wrong, or are there coupons or discounts that I missed? When I went to L&M and put in my dates 4/26-5/4 for a full size, it came back at approx $330 total./ The same dates for the same car thru National is $181.
Anyone got any suggestions?

That's very interesting, LMcarrental person. Are you suggesting that people who book online at the L&M website will get better fares, rather then book with Travelocity/other travel sites? Please explain. I have a ressie with National, but I'm sure we would love to know if you have any inside info on best price at L&M. Thanks:)

It's good to see LMcarrental person on here. I hope you can answer the questions asked on this thread. We are using you from Feb. 13 to Feb.22. Last year we used you also and we were wondering if you now have return check-in in the parking ramp, as last year you didn't?

Cool - when I first started this post, I informed them about the site and told them what we were doing.
I just returned today from a pleasurable rental experience. As I posted earlier the pick-up was smooth and the car was brand spankin new. Today's return went quick, 5 minutes at the garage booth and I was gone. Thums up for L&M, and will not hesitate to use them again! All set for March!

We would like to extend our gratitude to Pluto, for starting this for us. We have got many positive responses and many reservations from you guys.
" Your next car rental will be a complimantary one and the vehicle of your choice when you get to our counter."
If there are anyone else that can help us with this sort of free advertisment please let us know we shall go our of our way to make you happy in anyway we can.
one of the main reasons that we can compete with the big car rental companies, is because of advertising cost , we advertise less , we do not over book. Therefore we make sure our customers stay satisfied.
As we mentioned in the last response, if you are reservation is made through our link from this site you stand to get the lowest rates in Orlando Airport. This means no matter what rate may be through our website, if you find a lower rate in the orlando airport we will beat it by MINIMUM 10%. (you must have confirmation from the other company in Orlando Airport)
Also we are working on giving you guys more special discounts, such as free Lower underage fee charges, free upgrades and etc.
We would greatly appreciate any advertising help we can get. WORD OF MOUTH IS THE GREATEST ADVERTISING TOOL.

LM Carrental has joined the discussion. Very cool and WELCOME! It reminds me of when SwanDolphin joined the resort boards and started answering lots of questions about the Swan and Dolphin hotels and helping out people anyway he could. I hope LM Carrental stays around a while to get all of our questions answered. I am looking to rent a mini van for the first week in May and was wondering if they had integrated child seats. Also, any word on if the virus problem has been fixed? I am thinking of calling instead of e-mailing.

Hi all. We got in last night from a twelve day stay & rental from L&M. There was a line on the 16th about 10 AM, but it went fast. Spent about 15 minutes (including wait time) to finish the paper work. I was not asked for any insurance papers, although I had my Dec. page with me. The lot was easy to find. We got a Gallant. Now to me, it was smaller than what I thought a full size should be. But then again at home I drive a Ford F-250SD and a Windstar which are big. We were able to get 1 large, 1 mid and two carry ons in the trunk. The car had 22,000+ miles on it and was dirty, in and out. Sorry, but that's the way it was. It ran fine without any problems.
Return was fast. Overall, it was a good experience, especially when you figure in the price we got.

Guys if you find a rate within Orlando International Airport that is lower than our rates, We will beat that by 10%. It is simply impossible for us to be able to always display the lowest rates for different times of the year. Rates change from hour to hour. However if you get a rate that is lower than our rate simply email us and we arrange to beat the rate for you.
Someone mentioned something about a virus, would you please contact our office and talk to our IT person, we would be happy to give you a free day rental for your trouble.
Unlike other companies we do not try any hard sale at the counter. Everything is on the website, there are no hidden charges. Believe it or not we rather not sale any coverage on our vehicle as long as you can show us proof of full insurance on your vehicle.

Hello everyone...just wanted to let you know my DH and DS arrived at MCO today and had a great rate at Budget for an SUV. I told them about L&M and LMcarrentals' 10% discount offer from this thread and they took a rental from L&M. So far they have been very happy with the transaction. Since they did not have the SUV that they wanted they took a Lincoln Towncar and got the 10% off. Thanks to everyone here that makes all of this shared info work so beautifully!!

OK, let me join the band wagon. I am a faithful Emerald Aisle renter and have been for a while. The only time I use a different agency is for the cruise as a one way rental (*avis). However I am going on a quick weekend trip Feb 8-12 and need a car. I found all other rates to be very high, so I tried L&M. Boy was I surprised. I am now looking forward to trying them out.
I have rented a economycar, does anyone know what type that would be?
I do have one problem, I am meeting a friend at WDW and we have a bet that I will make it in a half hour or less, with Emerald Aisle this has always been possible. Hopefully I can continue my streak and win a bet! If not there goes another $40 I could have paid National to be quick!
Time will tell.

Thanks sooo much again pluto for getting this rolling and for all your advice and help! Thanks lmcarrental for being so nice to the members of this board and brining just a litle more magic!
At Last!!! I've been trying to post but was having trouble logging on.
lmcarrental- Welcome to the DIS! It was so good to hear from you. I was reassured to hear you have been in business for 30 yrs. I am new to your company but as I posted earlier in this thread, I have a minivan reserved from you in late Feb. $219.55/week(fees included) However, when I reserved via internet I received two confirmations, one with a virus. I have anti Norton virus so it was not a big problem. You mentioned I should call your company to get a free car rental day. I'm not really interested in a free day. I think the price you gave me was very good. However, I could use some reassurance. My husband is a big Ford fanatic. He only drives Fords. Tell me what are the chances of us getting a Ford Windstar????

I posted this a few pages back, so I thought I'd try again. Similar to andychris, I compared L&M and National for 4/26-5/4 Full Size. L&M came back with a total quote of $343 vs the National quote of $181 that I already had.
What am I missing???
LMcarrental, any feedback?
Also, does anyone know what kind of cars they have in the different classes?

I DON"T THINK SO. 3day rate ( Apr 25-28) for a full size w/L&M, $167.86. 3 day weekend full size (w/coupons, discount) $65.57. . National at reserve today price w/coup.disc. $89.73.
We can't use them anyway, because we are dropping the car off in Ft. Lauderdale, and L&M, doesn't even offer that option. I checked the price for MCO return at their site. Perhaps your rates will be better, but I would definitely take a printout of LMcarrental's post and offer to beat onsite prices with you or confirm in advance. JMO

L & M is looking to be a great option, especially on mini-vans. National costs much less for a full size for my August trip but I will keep checking as time gets closer.
Slightly off topic- I read the posts where people are checking with Priceline. How do you get a quote through Priceline without making a bid or committing yourself. I read the instructions and it sounds like you have to actually have to make a bid. I have never used priceline so I am a bit nervous. Thanks!

Yes, be very careful making reservation with L&M - I have received TWO viruses from them. I'd advise people to call to make a reservation rather than doing it through their web page. If you make a ressie through the internet, you'll get a confirmation from them, then a few hours later, a virus. They seem like a good company though. Hope they get this problem out of their system soon......

Someone already asked this but it hasn't been answered yet. I guess I could call but since there seems to be a representative reading these posts, I thought I'd try here.
How far in advance can you make a "guaranteed" reservation? When I plug in my dates it tells me that I'm booking too far in advance to be guaranteed that rate.
I'm going Oct 26/Nov 3.
If these rates are for real, this may be the first time I can afford a van!
Thanks!:)
We need a car from Feb. 12 through Feb. 16. After reading all the posts about the good deals so many have received through L&M, I thought I'd check the price. Their total was $224.65, while Dollar's total is $124.01 (compact car). That's a huge difference.

Hi...
Just got back from Disney Wonder Cruise and a few days at WDW.
After reading the tips on this board, I booked L&M thru Travelocity.
Got a rate of $67.50/week for a compact, unlimited miles.
Since we have always used the "big boys" at MCO, I was a little hesitant
about L&M, so I made a back-up res at National.
No problems!! The price was honored, I showed our insurance papers, and we
were off. Return was a snap. I asked the attendant where the nearest luggage
carts were and he walked half-way across the garage to retrieve one for us and
waived off the tip I offered. Nice Service!! Would definitely use them again!
P.S. No lines at the counter either!!
Scarlet

The base rate for Dollar is $99.96 plus their taxes, surcharges and fees of $24.05 = $124.01.
The base rate for L&M is $179.92 plus their taxes, surcharges and fees of $44.73 = $224.65.
I used the FVG code for Dollar. I can't figure out why the rate is so high with L&M when everyone else seems to be getting such good rates.
beattyfamily
02-01-2002, 03:14 PM
Oh, I misunderstood. I thought your rate with Dollar was before taxes...then that is a good rate with Dollar.
I know what you mean. After finding this post today, I checked out their website and I could only come up with a good rate on the mini-vans. All others were a bit high, especially the luxury cars! I think it was something like $700!!!
I'm hoping it's just because I'm not going until October and their rates will come down for me too as it gets closer.
I guess when I arrive at MCO I could take the Dollar confirmation sheet to the L&M counter and see if they would match it. Dollar's website didn't ask for a credit card number or any personal information other than my home phone number so I guess they wouldn't really be able to hold me to the reservation, except that I wouldn't feel good about not canceling with them prior to arrival. The reason I would prefer L&M is because I understand it's a small company trying to compete with the big guys and I guess I'm a softie for the underdog.

If you go to the web site below, you can rent a luxury car from Dollar Rent A Car (at MCO only) for $209 a week; with all tax's included it will come to about $290 for the week (without insurance). I suggest calling them directly at the 800 number, don't forget to mention the code found at the web site. We rented a luxury car here for our trip in August. I couldn't find a better rate on a luxury car and we have rented many times from Dollar at MCO with no problems. Will L & M beat this rate?

as posted by LM, call them and they will beat all of your quotes - very simple.
On a footnote, I just booked a convertible on THEIR site for 2 days this month. I received my confirmation number and NO Virus. Maybe the problem has been rectified.

I booked 2 cars thru them last night online. I got confirmation and no virus as far as I can tell. What is disconcerting is I called today to verify the rate and availability after reading some of the other posts. I was told it takes 24 hours for the ressies to be registered in the system and to call back tomorrow. I asked if the system might overbook and a car might not be available and the service rep said "yes." She said make sure and call back and confirm.

Hello to all
We had to shut down our server to check it for the virus some of you guy were talking about, we have eliminated the problem.
The site was down for a day and it is up and running now. There is no problem. Thank you for letting us know.
I personally answer all the emails for this site. Anyone does not receive and email from me within 48 hrs, will receive 10% Discount.
We do not carry too many luxury cars in our fleet, we have some it has to be asked for at the counter for the availability, that is why you see such high rates on the site, we simply do not carry that many.
As I have stated frequently, no matter what are rates are on the site, if you find a rate in the airport that is lower than ours, we will beat that rate just bring a copy of your confirmation or simply email me, and i will make adjustments to your rates.
Guys keep this in mind the rates change with the demand and number of reservations that we accumilate. We have many accounts that are using this site as well, so we cannot simply always put the lowest rate on here. Just ask and you shall receive I guess some of you will find out for yourself. Come to our counter and we will beat any rate in Orlando Airport, IT IS VERY VERY SIMPLE. we are big enough to take care of your business and small enough to pay attention, to the customer service issues.
Also we are the only company that would rent to people under the age of 18.
IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS JUST CALL US, OR EMAIL US.
Once you get to the airport you will see the difference in the customer service, comparing to the other companies.
A future note, within the next 24 months this company will be public and you will see the growth nation wide.
All i can tell you is to give us a try or to simply listen to the people that have rented from us.

OKay I jumped on board I did email L&M last week with no reply i assume the email may have been eaten when they shut down for maintenance or maybe I emailed the worng option there were 3 listed on the site I beleive. I made my reservation and emailed my DOLLAR rate Versus their rate we'll see what happens! I would deffinitly rather go with L&M they seem more flexible in general. I don't expect a reply till tomorrow afternoon if not tuesday I will update later in the week!

Just got back from 10 days using L&M. No waitng at the counter which is right in the terminal. Rented an intermediate which was a Mitsubishi Lancer with 7,000 miles on it. Total cost was $178 including all tax and charges for the 10 days. It had remote entry, CD player & was only missing cruise control. Pick up and return went smoothly. I would recommend them and will be using them next trip. Make sure to return with full tank as they charge $4.99/gal which they tell you right up front.

To answer your questions:
We had a Kia Rio, it was in perfect shape. I did a quick walk-around (as I always
do before leaving the garage, to check for previous damage, dents, etc).
It had 3200 miles on it. It was fine for our family of 3 and our 5 bags (cruisewear,
WDW, etc). We did have to stuff a couple in the backseat with DD LOL!!!
We did not have a choice of vehicles; however, ours was fine!
Glad to hear you got the good rate too!!

I just booked a minvan thru L+M for Feb 18-25....236.92. I haven't been able to find anything for less than 550. I have a standard booked thru National for 220 for the same time frame, but need the xtra room for my 6'1'' 15 year old and 6"3" husband. Have never used L+M before, so hope everything goes smoothly. Found Dollar rep to to be rude when I called, so they lost out. Their prices were sky high this time anyway.

We rented a minivan from L-M for 12 nights at a great rate. There weren't any lines when we arrived and we were given a Kia. I have to say it was the WORST vehicle I have ever rented in my life! Before we left L-M, we stopped to have them note the problems we saw. The back carpets were filthy. I am talking gross. It looked like someone dumped a gallon of oil on the mats but they were dry. The air conditioner vents in the ceiling fell out everytime we shut the door and there were two holes in the plastic at the trunk. I am talking about holes the size of an adults fist. I had the attendent note the damage and we were off. We did not do much driving once we arrived but as the 12 nights progressed, the vehicle seemed to get worse! The drivers seat literally moved from side to side and front to back when I drove. The emissions light came on. The owners manual said that that was not a big deal. The car steering wheel and brakes would shake so bad whenever I would brake. The van had 10,000 miles on it. It was a lemon!
While I blame most of the problems on Kia for producing such a terrible product, I do have to put some blame on L-M. If Kia's are generally a bad product (I don't know that, I am just saying "if"), then L-M needs to look at getting different vehicles. If Kia's are great vehicles and that one just had some problems, then L-M needs to drive their vehicles around and test them.
When I dropped the car off, I did tell the attendent about all the problems. While he was polite, he did not seem to care. My guess is that Kia is still on the lot and hasn't been looked at. I did email corporate when I returned home. I said that I would question renting from L-M again based strictly on safety. They emailed me the next day and said they were sorry to hear that I had problems with the vehicle and that they do offer other makes of vehicles. If I take the email with me, they will make sure to get me something besides a Kia. I would have liked to hear that they would make sure that the vehicle we drove gets an overhaul - or burial!
I am not bad mouthing L-M. I am not even saying that I would never rent from them again. However, If I make a reservation with them, I will have a backup. And I will NEVER drive a Kia minivan again.

Lisa,
Just one question. Why did you accept the vehicle in the first place, or, when it became progressively worse, why did you not take it back? Most companies try to make you happy, I am sure L&M would have done the same.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience if the vehicle looked so bad you shouldn't have even driven it off in my opinion. if they tried to pass me soemthing in poor shape I would refuse it.
I hate to hear such bashing of Kias though. We have a 2001 Sephia and LOVE it. KIAS are NOT normally a bad product. They may seem NEW to most of you but they have been in production in the us for over 10 years. Just now becoming mainstream........
As far as the Sedona goes though I am suprised to hear they even have one for rentals. My sisters husband is a mechanic at a dealership with a kia and OMG the Sedona is a terible first year model. He said every one they sold had to have the engine completely replaced before they could leave the lot..... not to mention several other pre sale recalls....... Thats pretty standard for most first year models though..... Maybe they should have waited untill next year to start buying Sedonas for rental use Kia did drop the ball on this particular vehicle.
As for my own situation I emailed AGAIN on Sunday and its been well past 48 hours and still no reply. I have 7 "working" days till we leave looks like we are going with Dollar. Though I was actually sort of hoping to get L&M and a Kia Rio since we are thinging of getting one for hubby as his car since he only drives 2 miles a day he doesnt need much..... what email shoudl I be sending my request to? if soemone could PM me with I'd appreciate it. Thanks

Gail,
I did not refuse the minivan for a few reasons.
1. The Kia was the last minivan on the lot. We had five people in our group and a ton of luggage and a double stroller. We need a minivan.
2. In all honesty, the cosmetic makeup of the vehicle may not have been great (air conditioning vent dangling from the ceiling, holes in the inside of the trunk area and dirty carpet) but that alone would not be enough to discourage me from renting that vehicle. The vehicle was clean (stained carpet, but clean). It didn't smell and the exterior was in good shape.
3. On the ride from the airport to OKW the only "mechanical" thing I noticed was the drivers seat moving. As the 13 days went on, the vehicle seemed to get worse. Everyday there seemed to be a new problem. However, we did very little driving each day. We only left Disney property 2 times to go to the grocery store. The rest of the time was spent going a few miles to the parks or other resorts to eat.
4. I considered calling L-M from OKW. However, I was not about to spend my time returning the vehicle all the way back to the airport. Nor did I want to sit around and wait for them to come and exchange it (if they would have even done that). My husband is an engineer and we had a cell phone so I figured we would manage somehow if the thing died!
Again, I am NOT bashing L-M or Kia. We had a terrible vehicle. Was it L-M fault or Kia's or a little bit of both? I am not sure. From what the next poster said, the Kia minivans do have problems. That being said, L-M needs to consider not renting that particular vehicle to their customers.

Lisa,
It's hard to believe this was a new vehicle with only 10,000 miles on it. Sorry this happen to you on vacation. I don't think any of these rental places should ever rent cars like this one, no matter how cheap the price was or was not. You can't put a price on safety.

But, their rates have gone up and there's nothing under $200. At least at National I can use my discount with the Disney Club and a coupon as well so for me it's not worth at the moment.

Linda,
I did tell and show the attendent the problems when we returned the vehicle. I made it quite clear that it had been the worst vehicle I had ever rented. While he listened and was polite, he didn't say anything. I contacted the corporate offices when I returned home and they responded by saying they "wish I had let them know about this earlier." I guess I do not see how much earlier I could have really contacted anybody. The cosmetic problems were noted before we drove the vehicle and the other problems began happening as time went on.
Corporate also told me to bring a copy of the email if I rent from them again and they will make sure we do not get a Kia. I don't see how that can be possible. We literally got the last minivan on the lot this time. How would they know that I was coming down to rent a minivan and had a letter saying to give me any model but a Kia? They didn't give me a discount, which I honestly didn't care about. However, I would have loved to hear the attendent or corporate tell me that they will make sure that vehicle gets a complete tune up.
For the record, this did NOT ruin our vacation in any way shape or form. As a matter of fact, it was actually rather funny every time some new problem came up. We kept joking that we were only going to have a steering wheel and a windshield wiper to return with the way things were going! Remember, we only drove a few miles a day.
However, our next trip in May will have us driving from MCO to Vero Beach then BWV and back to MCO. I would have NEVER driven that Kia all of those miles.

LOL about the steering and windsheild comment.
I'm glad to hear it didnt ruin your vacation in any way. The drivers seat thing would have completely freaked me out. I'm glad you only had to drive it a little each day. I dont understand there we will be sure you dont get a kia next time comments I agree there is no way they could guarantee that.
We rented a car several years back from soem UNKNOWN type place in plattsburgh due to our age and credit acrds situation at th etime we thought it was our only choice and you shoudl have seen the vehicle they tried to pass on us. It was OLD I mean really old and a complete heap. We left that lot and had to go elsewhere. Luckily eneterprise "knew" about the other ocmpany and took pitty on us. They then gave us a brand new altima with not even 2000 miles on it for a great rate.
We havent rented a car since actually so this will be interesting in FL.

Lisa,
Glad it did not ruin your vacation and I understand about it being the last one on the lot, however, I guess I (PITA that I am) would have called daily to find out if they had a vehicle that was in much better shape. Yes, I would have taken the hour or so necessary to have a safe vehicle. JMHO, but, a seat that moves is not safe, thank G-d you were not in an accident with that seat.
I think what they meant by letting them know earlier was exactly what I asked you.
You certainly are taking the "good sport" attitude about this, and if it works for you, great.
You most definitely have made me think twice about rethinking my position on L&M, which was I would never rent from them because of their rude phone agents.

My sister had a minivan reserved at Dollar for $245 for five days. I told her to check with L&M when she arrived at MCO, which was the 6th. She did that and said there was only one person ahead of her and L&M gave her the choice of a Ford Windstar, a Mercury Villager or a Kia for 10% less than her Dollar reservation. She took the Windstar and said it is a very nice vehicle. She was pleased with L&M.

OK here's an update....
I called L&M today to try and get the lowdown, with the gentleman who I spoke with a few months ago, reference their website and lack of response on emails.
Honestly, not to sure how that turned out
I was told that as of yesterday their email system was working. He will check all of the addresses today.
I was told that the reservations get sent right to that dept.
I also asked if this person, was the one posting here on the DIS. Nope, he didn't know who that might have been.
I did a little research and tied L&M to EZ Carrental with about 7 locations, mainly in FL. Off site and at other airports. Hmmm???
So anyway, to sum it up, I really got knowwhere
I can still say though, that I used them once without a glitch, I am using them next week and also have two more vehicles reserved for the end of March. If a problem arises, this will be the first place I post it.
As I wrote in another thread, I am an avid EC member as well, and didn't have any problems with them. But they've gotten some pretty negatives posts as of late as well.
Growing pains????
We'll see....
So, lets keep hearing those reports, good or bad, we need those opinions...

Several posts that I have read has caused me to book a mini van with Dollar for May. Eventhough their Minivan is $40 more (Currently, the price is the same but I reserved a mini van from L&M several weeks ago for $159.95/week. Now it is $199.95/week) I feel it is worth it to go with a reputable company who is known for good customer service. I also like the fact that most of Dollar's mini vans have integrated child safety seats. I plan on cancelling L&M's reservation soon. With some recent posts about poor L&M customer service and vehicles problems I wonder why lmcarrental has not responded to this post? Makes you wonder????

I spoke with L+M yesterday when I noticed that the return tim eon my minivan wasn't the same as I had requested. the person I spoke to was very pleasant and accomodating. He said they rent windstars, villagers, (no KIA) I'll let people know when I get back how it went.
We returned yesterday. Here's what happened to us.
I had a reservation with Dollar for a compact from 2/12 to 2/16 for $124.01.
I got on L&M's website and e-mailed them giving them my reservation info with Dollar and asking if they indeed would beat that amount by 10%. I received a reply telling me: "Yes. Just bring your confirmation from Dollar with the price. Show them a copy of this e-mail and they will beat your price by 10%. Let them know you have talked to Michael. Please take a copy of this e-mail to the counter. Thank you for contacting us."
Tuesday evening (9:00 p.m.), my sis-in-law and I went to the L&M counter. I gave them my Dollar reservation print out and told them that I understood they would beat that price by 10%. The clerk at the counter told me there was no way they would do that.
I then showed the clerk the e-mail from Michael. He read it and said that Michael wasn't at the MCO location, he was at central reservations and had nothing to do with that location.
He said there was no way they would give me a car for that price at "this season". I asked what "season" this was. He said it was the Daytona. He then told me that Dollar would probably not even honor the reservation I had with them! That statement made me wonder if L&M sometimes does not honor their own reservations, depending on the "season".
After I commented that L&M is evidently not dependable, he telephoned a manager and was told by the manager that they would not rent a car to me for that price, no matter who said they would. I told him that I was going to make a report about my experience here and that it could hurt future business. He didn't seem to mind.
I then went to the Dollar counter and had no problems whatsoever. They honored my reservation. I received very quick, efficient, friendly service. I didn't have to show my insurance card or paper.
I just can't trust L & M after my experience.

Hi, we just returned from a great 2 week trip. After reading great reports on L&M here, I cancelled my Dollar, and National ressies and switched to L&M. I got a van for a total of $390 including all taxes for the 2 weeks. ( I think this is a VERY good rate). On our last trip ( 2 years ago) we ALL went to the luggage claim, then ALL went to the car rental counter (I cant remember who we used, but it was in the terminal). Any way, there was a line at the car place 2 years ago, so...this time, hubby went for luggage, I went for car. I easily found the L&M counter...no one was in line. Even before I got to the counter, I was greeted, and asked for my name. Literally, less than 5 minutes later, I was done. I went back to meet my hubby at the baggage claim (after a quick stop at the bank for a roll of quarters for the tolls) He was just finishing getting the last bag. We went to the garage, easily found the van. It was a nice new Mercury Villager.....and away we went!! I would definately recommend L&M.

L&M Car rental,
If you read some of the other threads here, you will see that people have tried what you have suggested and have been refused and know nothing about this 10% beat the price.
They have asked for managers who refuse to honor what you are writing. They say they have never heard of such a thing, it was something that came out of reservations, or, simply no.
It is obviously not that simple. Maybe you all should get "your ducks in a row" and communicate. So far all I have received from L&M is a person on the phone that did not know what the web site stated, another who was very rude and a bit*h to boot and a computer virus (luckily Norton stopped that one dead). IMHO, not a lot to recommend you folks.
Sorry if this appears harsh, but, a lot of nice people have had a promise that no one seems to be able to deliver on.

Hi all - I booked a convertible and received it. Excellent condition, little spotted dirty on te outside. That didn't bother me at all. Ressie was confirmed at $111, it ended up being $64 for 2 days. Return was also a breeze. I can find no reason not to use them again. Everyone was friendly from the counter staff, to the garage staff.

Ok here is my experience with L&M.
I used them for a short weekend trip (2/8-2/12), and reserved a compact car. I was glad to walk up to the counter at about 1:15pm with no one in line. All was going good until my agent was handed her paycheck and had to open it and verify it was correct. so after about 25 mins I was on my way to the garage.
I was given a Mirage for the weekend, what a small car, would hate to see what an economy car is. This car had more scratched and dents than a car in a junk yard, so another 15 mins lost finding the attendant and having all these documented. As the weekend went on, the car became more and more difficult to start, not sure why. Returning was a breeze.
Conclusion: You get what you pay for! I will probably never rent from them again as I would rather have a nice goodlooking car while on vacation so my business we be returning to National.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Asking for a manager and mentioning Michael's name (even showing the counter agent my e-mail from reservations) didn't help at all.
"Beware L & M
I received very quick, efficient, friendly service."

We just returned from WDW and used L&M. If you have been reading this thread you know what problems we had the day before we were going to leave. We'll everything turned out OK! We were upgraded for free to a mini van (Kia - Sedona) from an economy. We paid $155, all taxes included, for nine days rental. The pick-up and return went very smoothly. There was a lady there who did not recieve a car with her confirmation and she was really irate, which I would have been too! I guess I have to say that I don't think I will be using L&M again with all the different messages were getting on this thread. I don't think it's worth the hassel and worry! You're supposed to be on vacation having fun, not worrying about your rental car! Just my two cents worth.

Pluto4President:
I was thinking the same thing. Haven't heard anything about L&M in a few days. But, then I thought - DUH, I have! I wrote on another thread last week about Travelocity calling to say that L&M would not honor my confirmed ressie made through them. They were not honoring any L&M ressie made through Travelocity. (A few weeks ago, Travelocity had better rates going through them than L&M's website.) After some searching and tips from RobinLyn, I got a good rate from Avis.
The rest of the story: Travelocity called back this Tuesday, and said that L&M WOULD honor the ressies made through Travelocity. The agent wanted to know if I wanted to keep it. I said , "No". I have to be skeptical about their business practices of on again, off again, on again, etc.
Bottom line: I guess if you take a chance with your good rate and get the vehicle - more power to you. I think that's great. Knowing my DH, it wouldn't be a good idea to arrive in the evening only to have to find alternate transportation. Especially, the week before Easter. Better safe than sorry for us. :)

we visited during Pres Week and had reserved two minivans - we really had no problems to speak of - my brother received a new Windstar and I received a new Villager..rate was 149.99/wk plus 29.99 for the xtra day we stayed. only minor issue was when we returned the vehicles, they did not have my brother's credit card on file, and they had me using another vehicle....but it really was no problem for us...getting and returning the vehicles went very smoothly and quickly for us.
