are the gift cards good anywhere in downtown disney? DH gave me some gift cards to go shopping with in downtown disney while he takes the older kids to a hockey game. just want to be sure:)

Disney gift cards? I think you can use them at the World of Disney, but other than that, no you can not use them in Downtown Disney.

I had a gift card (perk thru Costco travel package) and I was disappointed. The first time I tried to use it was at Napa Rose - told "no, we don't accept it here", second time was to purchase mylar balloons, "no" and third time to upgrade our parkhoppers to AP's and told "no". I had to insist a manager conduct the transaction to use my Gift Card to help pay for our AP's and believe me, it took four CM's and over 30 minutes to get it to work. Something about deducting the hopper and then giving a discount or something. But I was not backing down as this was the final $$ transaction of our trip and I was not going home with an unused Gift Card! Anyway, I was thinking over and over as I waited for my AP - do not get anymore Gift Cards, way too much hassle. So, try to use it early on if you can. :)

OH wow! Great information. I was always under the impression that they could be used anywhere except outdoor vendors of course where you need cash but I figured for tickets and at the shops and Disney owned restaurants you could. Thanks for posting this. I was going to give my God children all gift cards to be used at WDW but just in case I think I'll stick with Disney Dollars. More fun anyway! :)

so can you not use gift cards for Character breakfast's/lunch? I thought other than street vendors you could pretty much use them anywhere inside the park? thanks...we are going the last week of March and this woud be good information to know! THANKS

I believe that Napa Rose should have accepted them as well.

I did have a problem using one in Whitewater Cafe. However, they knew that they were supposed to take them and that the machine was being finicky. I asked to have a supervisor come over. She did and still could not get the machine to take them. So she looked me in the eye and said very politely "Thank you very much and have a wonderful day." I had to stand there for a moment wondering what she meant, then I realized that she was giving us the $41 meal for free.

So do they take them at all the restaurant's or not? I was going to take advantage of getting 10% back on the disney gift cards . . . but I was planning on getting it for our food and such expenses at the parks.

I was able to use mine at the shops in DL and the world of disney store, but not for any meals...

I used our $150 gift card that we got as part of our package at Goofy's Kitchen in January. No issues, just swiped and go. I used it for the rest of the time at World of Disney and stores inside DL and CA.

We just got 200 in gift cards. I really hope they take them at all the counter service locations as well as our Character breakfast. I certainly don't want to spend all $200 on merchandise.

I used my giftcard at the Disney store. I believe you can also use them towards tickets, merchandise and most counter service places...so I have been told my CM's.

They certainly do work at all the Disney owned/operated restaurants I've tried.
