I'm so happy you all are going to Disney soon. I have two families down there right now that I helped plan their trips. I'm going to live vicariously through them and through you all. I always say the next best thing to going to Disney is to know someone who's going. I look forward to seeing all the pictures!

I'm a little busy getting ready to go to Disney World, too! I leave in 5 days. Guess we'll be there at the same time, Fran! So, I won't be around for the entire challenge.

Pam

You and Fran should totally meet up and get your picture taken together so you can scrap it when you get back!! How cool would that be??

I know there was a post around here somewhere about how to use a template in PSE, but I can't find it and I can't remember how to do it! (I have only used one twice before). I know it is CTRL+ something then CTRL+ something else, but I can't remember the letters! Help!

Hello DIS Digi-Scrappers!

The new challenge has been posted - not message board smart enough to do the link.

I hope our veterans can join us although we have a few that will be in Disney this week! I also hope that we have some newcomers join us too! Britt has a designer friend, Erica Zane, has donated two kits for the prizes. Please check out the post and click on the link and take a look at Erica's designs.

Looking forward to the layouts,

Jennifer

Labdogs,
Here's the info:
"Control + G" to clip the photo to the template shape, then
"Control + E" to merge the photo layer with the template layer
Don't forget that the photo layer needs to be directly on top of the template layer when using the above functions.
Hope that helps!

Pooh -- That is beautiful! I love your title, I may have to scraplift the Minnie the smoocher idea! Did you make the letters for the word Minnie in the title? I love them! What a fantastic layout. I really like it (can you tell??)! :rotfl:

ETA -- FREEBIE ALERT!! Here is another site with a nice set of princess themed freebies (http://tracykosofsky.blogspot.com/). Just search "freebie" on her blog and they will come up. I'll add it here and post in the digital FAQ thread as well. Enjoy!

Thanks, Jessica. The alpha came with the kit. It's a fun kit to work with if you need a patriotic theme. I like the antique look to it rather than a bright red, white and blue. Scraplift away!

Thanks for the freebie link.

Beautiful song! I could change boy to girl and it would be all about me!

To say I was a difficult teen is an understatement but now that I am a mom, it really hits home how awful I was. I think I will tweak the lyrics and give it to my mom.

I love that song Hypermommy! I think Clay Aiken sings it right? Love it.

Yes, Britt, he does. Although, having heard both his version and the one apparently from the DVD (both on dtuneslive) I must say I like the DVD version better. I guess it's less "showy". I dunno how to explain it but it just seems like Aiken is rushing through some of the words so he can show off his voice on some of the long notes. Which is cool, I guess ... if you've got it flaunt it and he sure does have a marvelous voice.

BTW, thanks again for the link (can't remember who posted the link right now). I have to admit that I recorded it and now I can hear it anytime I want without having to use up all my points. And yes, I still cry. :rotfl2:

B&MissB, I plan to give the page to DS14 when he's a bit older. He read it the other day and was kind of like "that's real nice, Mom". He doesn't "get it" yet. Of course, he couldn't. He just doesn't have the life experience yet to understand. He will.

Oh, and guess what!!! Speaking of my 14yo... he's in the Young Marines around here and his CO told him the other day that he needed to form a closer friendship with Mr. Gillette. He has four or five little quarter inch hairs on his chin but now he has to SHAVE!!! I'm so not ready to deal with the idea of my baby shaving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's gonna just love it when I take pictures of him shaving but I just know this is gonna call for some scrap therapy!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I'd volunteer to host, but I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD IN THREE DAYS! neener neener neener! :rotfl2:

Welll thhhhhhpt to you guys too! Both of you that are going to WDW. I hope we get to have full trip reports when you get back! And I also think it'd be a great idea for you guys to get together for a short time and get some pics together so you can scrap them up. That'd be fun!

Here's a LO that I did for the Speed Scrap at SM last night.

Love the Minnie the Smoocher LO!!! Really cute and creative!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel free to go download it and let me know if it works! The picture on my blog doesn't look great for some reason, but when I used the file it looked fine. It is 300 ppi. This past weekend my sister and I went to Greenfield Village in Dearborn for Civil War Remembrance weekend. They have it every year and we've gone every year since 2002. So I have TONS of photos that I've done nothing with. Since they rarely change anything I decided to do a digital book using the photos from 2005-2008 becuase I have digital photos from those years.

So here is what I have done so far:

Title Page - I couldn't find the logo for Greenfield Village online so I did my best to recreate it. I got the fonts right, but the stars in the logo are a bit off, but pretty darn close. Its just a simple layout.

Firestone House - This is the house where Harvey Firestone, the tire dude, lived with his family. It was moved to Greenfield Village from Ohio in the 1980s. I wanted to keep the layouts are simple.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Firestone1-SM.jpg

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Firestone2-SM.jpg

Firestone farm is a "working farm" which means they plant real crops in the fields and use 1880s methods. They also usually have people in the kitchen cooking to show how it was done in the 1880s. This is one of our favorite homes, which is why it has so many pages because we take lots of photos of it! LOL

Jessica-Ooh, I love your LOs! The DHS one epsecially catches my eye!

britt-The chipboard album came out fantastic!! I've never tried one, though I've been tempted to try acrylic albums. I bet your LOs would look awesome on those, too!

Yzer-I love all your simple, but elegent, historic pages. I think I'm just going to have you do my historic related LOs for me. ::yes:: I have so many local museum & historic pics I want to scrap, but at this rate, maybe I should just do them digitally.

Oh, how fun! This reminds me of a colonial farmstead they have in my area (though it's from the 1600s, but the same thing with having people cook, clean, churn butter, etc like they did that time.) I went when I was in maybe 5th grade or so, but this LO makes me want to go back now!! Last summer, I did the historic sites like the Liberty Bell, Indepedence Hall for the first time since I was a kid, and had so much fun.

I wanted to see the credits because I was curious about the alpha used to make "playhouse" From your credits it looks like you did it yourself with the arial black font?? How did you get the letters to be one color and the borders to be yellow? Did you use a yellow-colored shadow? I have not done my Playhouse Disney pictures yet, but I want to keep this trick in mind. I am still keeping in mind the other playhouse trick from you (putting 2 mickey heads on top of each other just the way playhouse disney does it!)

Yzerbear -- once again, your historic pictures are wonderful. Just ask KSMW said: simple and elegant

I did the first copy of playhouse with the different colored letters, then I copied and pasted it as a new text box and changed the color to the yellow on all the letters, then I unlocked the aspect ratio of the text box, moved the layer with the yellow behind the multi-colored one, and resized and moved it around until the yellow letters were in the right place to make them look like shadows. There may have been an easier way to do it, but I couldn't figure one out, so that's what I did!! Glad you like it! I originally just had a yellow strip behind the word playhouse, but I didn't like it. This took a little tweaking, but I like the result a lot!

Just checking in to say "hi" from the Boardwalk at WDW! This free internet is great! Had a busy day yesterday. Took pictures since it was the last day of Flower and Garden. I got a great picture of the Peter Pan topiary with the "real" Peter in the background. A great picture to use with Britt's kit. Heading out to DHS now.

Great page! Though I have one suggestion. The picture with the frog feels sort of hidden and it almost gets lost. Maybe shift the one picture over a bit to give the frog one a bit more space. Other than that its great. I love how you incorporated the dollar bill.

I did this LO for the Scrapmatters "so me" challenge. I spent forever trying to get it the way I wanted, and it never worked out right, but I'm happy with the result. Yzer told me elsewhere that this LO is definitely me. Even separate from the item itself, I think just the style is me. Clearly I love the glitz & bling that I have on the LO. For the 7 months or so since I got back from Disney, I've found some way to get something Disney into my life every day. So, there's a dash of Disney in this LO with britt's minnie alpha.

Okay, this has nothing to do with scrapping but I'm wondering if you guys can help me or tell me where to post this to find help. My eldest is a MAJOR Tink freak and her bday is coming up in August. We saw some Tink initial pendants a Kmart and she went nuts but they don't have a "T." I went to their website but they only show watches. I've tried a million web searches and have only found one place but they only go up to "S.":( Can you guys help? They look like this:

We are getting ready for our DL trip/ DCL Mexican Riviera Cruise next month... in case it isn't obvious -- I am getting really excited. I am taking my laptop so that I can upload pics, etc. each day.... And I plan to try and journal at the end of each day.... I thought if I premade some journaling pages it would motivate me. These aren't anything fancy, but thought I'd share. :) I used Britt's Digi-Journal templates for some, and made others on my own. it was fun using a variety of papers and kits.

I love all the pages that people have done. I am new to digital scrapbooking and I am very interested to know what programs are used to create your pages. I know that you download the stuff like alphas, backgrounds and embelishments. I would also like to know if anybody uses scrapbook flair?

Thanks alot all

Welcome! I use Creative Memories StoryBook Creator Plus (SBC+) at the present time. It's super user friendly. Lot's of variety here as far as the programs being used. The key is to find something that works for you and just start playing. Once you get comfortable with the software, then the fun part is being creative with all of the awesome digi products that are out there. There's a good FAQ thread on this board.

Welcome Silvermist,

Glad to have you join us. I use Photoshop Elements (PSE5) there is a newer version PSE6. I have found many tutorials (all free) on the web as well as a ton of embellishments, papers, overlays, etc. I like to stop in and visit http://ikeagoddess.blogspot.com/, she posts new freebies almost everyday.

I have taken 3 online classes at http://www.jessicasprague.com. Sign up on Jessica's blog and she sends out a challenge every Friday. Another of my favorites is Kimi Boo she hangs out with us on Jessica's site, http://kimikreations.blogspot.com/ and check out LivE's site too, http://livestories.wordpress.com/. All three of these ladies are terrific and very talented.

Oh, yeah two other favorite sites, www.scrapbooking.com (great place to post layouts) and www.scrapgirls.com (freebie everyday).

I use Photoshop CS2.

Thanks for the freebies links! I love freebies! :-)

Ahhh Scrap (http://ahhhscrap.blogspot.com/) is also offering a freebie a day until their store opens. Today's were some absolutely adorable blue jean hearts that I can't wait to use.

I know that you download the stuff like alphas, backgrounds and embelishments. I would also like to know if anybody uses scrapbook flair? I use Photoshop 7.0. I wanted to download the trial of PSElements 6.0, but since I have Vista on my laptop and have heard that there are some problems with PSE and Vista I haven't. I haven't had any problems with PS7 and Vista. Though PS7 doesn't do text paths, which is why I was thinking of trying out PSE.

I've downloaded some things from Scrapbook Flair in the past, but I really don't like the quality.

Sites I like: Britt-ish Designs, Ellie Lash, Scrap Matters, Scrap Orchard, Sunshine Scrap, Scrapbook.com and a few more.

Hi guys!! I guess i am not the only one with MIA Mojo.. LOL I haven't been on the computer as much lately, with the nice weather -- but i need to get moving..

Although, i DID just buy a Cricut Expressions ( the large machine) off ebay, sort of by accident, i was playing around and bid on one at the last 24 seconds, and i won! LOL
Actually, my mom bought it (well, most of it) for me b/c my sis is getting married in 2009 - and she wants me to do her invites and all her shower stuff -- so i got the machine (with 2 cartridges) and also ordered the wedding cart. on ebay, and bought another cart. at Michaels yesterday..
Now i just gotta talk myself into spending the cash on the Disney cart. LOL But, i can't wait to get this!!!

Had a yard sale this weekend and got burnt. LOL it's been 95/96/degrees here, and tomorrow is supposed to be about 97! I am keeping dd home from school, as there is no fan or AC in her class, and i think it's crazy to have the kids sit there sweating all day. it's the last week of school anyway.

I am gonna try to do a page or two tonight, and check out jess's freebies links, and hope i can get inspired again... :)

Don't talk yourself into it...just DO it!! Seriously, if I only had the Disney carts my Cricut would be worth it. I just love them. Originally I was just going to get the Mickey font, then my mom talked me into getting the Mickey & Friends, and I'm so glad she did because the characters come out fantastic (and as long as you don't make them too small, it's really easy.) Then the princess carts came out and I didn't think I needed them. So of course I ended up getting them, and I've probably used them more than any other cart. I haven't gotten the Pooh carts yet, but I made Pigglet at a crop a few months back, and he's adorable. If you look online, you can find some good deals for the carts. I promise it's worth it. If you want to see examples of the carts in use, I just posted all my Disney LOs so far in this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1848955

I included any Cricut carts I used, so you can just scroll through and see the Disney carts related LOs if you want.

OK, I know this is the digi thread, so, oops! I should get back go digi talking, sorry!! I'll ask a digital related question, since Silvermist was asking newbie related questions. What do you guys use to organize your digi products? I thought my Shutterfly program would be good for that, but it doesn't recognize png files, so that's out. I'd really love it if the program is free :P, but even something that doesn't cost too much. Other than Britt's kits, I never remember what I have!

Since I am the enabling queen, Cricut carts are BOGO free at AC Moore this week. That's a great deal. Oh yeah, I just bought ACDSee to organize my digi-scrapping stash. I have also heard of people using Picasa to organize their stash and it is free. I use Picasa to organize pictures and I love it!

For some reason I was in the mood today to work on some Gettysburg layouts.

Here is the cover I did the other day. Its simple. The photo was taken on my birthday last year at sunset.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/Cover-SM.jpg

Credits: I think it was the sanded edge action from Atomic Cupcake

Who Shot Maj. Gen. John F. Reynolds - Historians aren't quite sure who fired the shot who killed Reynolds. This monument is located at the site where he was wounded. I tried to make the title look like part of a newspaper article.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/ShotReynolds-SM.jpg

Credits: staples from "Spellbound" by Ellie Lash, burned edge and rub-on actions from Atomic Cupcake.

Eternal Peace Light Memorial - Another simple one, but I just loved the photograph. The first time we went it was next to impossible to get a photo without people in it. Last year we were the only ones at that spot. I was so stoked to get this shot. I used the clone tool in Photoshop to add more sky to fill the page. The photo corners are brushes.

http://members.aol.com/YBWallpapers/Scrapbook/PeaceLight-SM.jpg

Those are my most recent layouts. I have a bunch of Greenfield Village ones I did, but those aren't uploaded yet and I don't have time tonight to it. Maybe tomorrow or Thursday.

Yzer, your Gettysburg LOs are incredible! And mac, I love the way your pic goes off the left of the page! I'm gonna have to try that.

Sorry I've been MIA ladies (you knew you were thankful for a reason, right?). I've joined a couple of creative teams and that keeps me hopping. Plus I'm now designing for a couple of stores so I need to get some kits done and out so I can hopefully make a dollar or two so I can support my scrapping habit.

But I finally got a couple of LOs done.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj18/hypermommy_2007/James_YM_Grad.jpg

On June 8 my eldest graduated "boot camp" in the Young Marines. This was a great accomplishment for him since he'd only been in since about the beginning of May or end of April. The other recruits in the class had been in since January, so he had some catching up to do... which he did admirably. I'm so proud of him!

Credits:
Most everything from By God's Design's Benevolent Boutique June 08 kit - even the flag which is a brush that I put on one layer then did a clipping mask with one of the papers on another layer.
Word art is from By God's Design's Benevolent Boutique Word Art Freebie
Priceless Bar Code stamp is from By God's Design's Priceless kit

And then there's one I did for my sister this morning. She just had a little grand-niece (the baby's parents are too young in my opinion!, but that's beside the point) and I thought she might like to have this. Out of respect for the baby and the parents I've pixelated them.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3008/2569618587_3b67cf2940.jpg

I had to pixelate the family out of respect for their privacty. But I finally had a little girl to design a page for so I got to use the pinks!

Credits: All from By God's Design's Busy Scrappin Welcome kit

Okay... I'm off to try to sneak in some designing amongst the programming I'm supposed to be doing :rotfl2:

Thank you, Jack is now 4 years old, but he has a brand new cousin who is 10 weeks old. Here is her Puppy Announcment that I made for my sister to distribute to friends and family. I think I have a future in designing Puppy Announcements.

Jack and Fergie are really cousins, they have the same Grandfather and many other relatives too. I think she is just as cute as Jack was. It is funny that there are so many things that they do alike, must be a family thing!

Here is the layout I did for the Template challenge on Scrap Matters. I had such a hard time picking just one obsession. I *LOVE* the Counting Crows! They are by far my favorite band. I've seen them 7 times already and have tickets to see them again in August. The photos are from the concert last year in Grand Rapids. The trickiest part was getting a good photo of the CD to use since its reflective and the flash kept hitting it wrong. The photos are sort of blurry, but I really wanted to use my own photos instead of someone elses. The concert last year was so cool! It was a general admission at a ballpark where you could sit up in the stands or go down to the area by the stage. We sat up in the stands for most of it, but did go down to the stage area for a couple of songs. The lyrics on the side is from "Mr Jones" which is the song they were playing when I took the photos, which is also my favorite song. The best part of the concert was when he changed the one lyric from "symbolic" to "confused." :) Adam rules!!!

I struggled to think of a two word title since most of what I wanted to use were more than 2. I think it turned out pretty good. I used one of our pictures from our photopass CD that arrived last week. :) The photo was taken on our first day of our first visit. :)

Here's my Tuesday Template challenge at Scrap Matters entry. I have lots of obsessions, so it was hard to choose what to scrap. But I'm ALL about Disney right now, so I knew I had to go with that. :) This pic is of me during our last moments on property, in the French Quarter resort's gift shop. I suddenly realized that we didn't get ears during our whole trip! So I tried these on and held up a cute plush to pose for one last pic at Disney. :( I ended up buying the ears, but turns out they didn't fit exactly right because they were for kids! Oops! Next time I think I'll get them on Main Street at the start of the trip.

Not sure how I feel about this LO. It was giving me such problems (especially the shadows), I finally had to just finish. I tried to layer a bit since I don't normally do that, but I don't know if my brain just doesn't work like that or what! I hope it looks ok. Please let me know what you think!

Wow! Britt has an adorable new kit out today..... It's technically "Wedding" themed, but I can think of a million other things to do with it. The colors are awesome.... Scrapmatters is going to be having a sale this weekend. They will start with 20% but if they can get 25 people, who haven't already done so, to post on this thread, http://scrapmatters.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=992&start=15, they will increase the discount to 25%.... Yahoo! Great time to pick up those kits we've been wanting.

And here's a look at Britt's kit... there's a freebie on her blog if you scroll down. http://www.*************************.com/

Happy Friday!

This is one of my favorite photos from our 1987 trip to Walt Disney World, despite my one brother looking grumpy. I did mention in this week's challenge thread that Red is one of my favorite colors. I love the combination of Red-white-Black. :)

Hi everyone!

Been busy, busy lately, but I wanted to pop in and say hi. Mac, I LOVE that snowflake bride LO. The snowflakes just make it so delicate and precious. Yzer, love the picture and the LO... even the grumpy brother. Aren't brothers often grumpy? LOL

I finally got a chance to make another LO today. Actually, I had to. I forgot to pick up a Father's Day card for King Charming. He'll survive. But just to let him know I hadn't totally forgotten I made this LO for him. When the kids get up I'll get them each to write something about why their daddy's the greatest and there we go -- personalized Father's Day card. And cheap too, which should definitely please KC. :cool1:

[QUOTE=SUZI;25228255]Briar Rose: do a search for "ikea goddess" She has daily freebies that others offer (I can't take credit for this site though; I picked-up this tip from the Queen herself, Labdogs!) Also, if you go to the sticky that is titled "digital scrapbooking FAQ" Fran has listed tons of places to get freebies.

OK, I have FINALLY finished this LO; I have been working on it all week (not going to be able to work on the challenge this week because of the LO) Anyway, I need some advice with it. I don't know if I like the Mickey-head-title. It kind of looks like it is just floating there. Any thoughts? Should I staple it to a frame? Or use a ribbon to hang it from the top of the LO? Thanks for any suggestions!

Oh My Goodness! i Love this!!!! i have to learn..... and QUICKLY! I can't post the image again since I am new... but it's the safari LO of your family with them faded into the background and the animals coming out of their frames/mats.... SO NICE!

Hello again all!

Well, I should be working on some paying work so I can get a new camera (which I badly need). But I'm having too much fun scrapping. So that's what I'm doing today ;-)

Hi Emerson613! Welcome to the DIS digi-scrap thread! Everyone on this thread is very supportive! I think you'll like it here. Thanks for the compliment on my safari LO. I still haven't made the changes that were suggested for it (I'm so far behind) Were you interested in learning how to make the background faded or how to make the animals peak out of the frames? What program are you using? I have PSE, but I'm sure it is similar with the others. Here's some quick instructions:
1. To make the backgound faded just decrease the opacity . You may have to add a plain white layer below your faded picture layer so that you can see it better.
2. To make the animals peak out:
a. duplicate the picture
b. on the original delete everything that would go outside of the frame (in my example I would delete the zebra's head and any scenery surrounding the head)
c. on the duplicate: delete everthing but what peaks out (so I would delete everything but the zebra's head)
d. then you line up your original with your duplicate
e. make sure that the duplicate layer is on top of your original layer when you are lining them up together

The deleting part is the hardest because you have to make your cut at just the right spot on both the original and duplicate so that you can line them up at the end.

I would always welcome an easier way to do this.

Thanks, Hypermommy. The photographers at the wedding are friends of ours so I got digitals of all the pics in high resolution. They took some great pictures!

Hi everyone - this is my first post as I am just getting into digital scrapbooking. I do not have any of the fancier software, just scrapbook factory deluxe, but I think I am doing pretty good with it. I am able to use a lot of the kits that have the .png files. They import very easily and look clear. We are not going to Disney until November, but I have been playing with sample layouts.

Anyway, my biggest concern with this software is the printing. I can do 12X12, and save at a high quality .jpeg file but, I am just concerned that when I print it, it won't be clear.

I know this isn't the software of choice, but has anyone actually printed with this?

PS - LOVE LOVE LOVE everyone's work, some of them are amazing!!!

Second: I'm back from my Knights and Lights tour. It was awsome! Someone actually bought our house when we were at Disneyland Paris. That Pixie Dust is some amazing stuff. They need it right away, and so I haven't been able to scrap. Finally I took a few minutes today to do what I think will be the cover pages to my photobook. I'm thinking I like it pretty well, but wanted to get opinions. Does it pop enough? I didn't want to make the cover too trendy, kwim?? Also, do y'all like the book from the Sprite (Thanks Britt) freebie to give the title, or should I have a more proper title. I can't decide. Any opinion would really be great. I can't seem to get my brain to settle down in my head. LOL

Here we go!

I need some opinions on a layout. This is for the Saturday challenge at Scrap Matters. I decided to use my sister as the subject. It was easy thinking of what I like since I did a whole album about my friends, which included my sister, and what I like about each of them, so I just took a few things from that. I keep thinking its missing something or needs something else, but can't think of what. The photo is my sister at Navy Pier with the Chicago skyline.

Actually, once you start learning the tricks about shadowing and texture it's not really that hard. And it's lots of fun. I hooked into a group over on yahoo called ADSDesigners and the ladies over there have been wonderful about sharing their knowledge!

I really like the LO, but I see what you're saying about something missing. I think the left side just feels a little "off" (and can't really find the right word to say what I mean). Maybe Labdog's suggestion of swirls or flowers or something over there is an idea. Or maybe an "echo" of the things you've said you like about her (supportive, smart, sweet, etc) in an acrylic lettering. Just an idea, mind you, don't know how it would look actually implemented :cool2:

Yeah, this is where I spend way to much time hanging with my peeps! LOL Especially since we've lost both of our LSS, I've really started to try to perfect my digital more. Also with the house on the market, I didn't want to drag out all my stuff and then leave it all around. The fact that the house sold in two and a half weeks is a major blessing. I knew helping all those tourists find the Lady and Sons would pay off one day! LOL We're not going far though, just downtown. We found a real wreck of a house. It had been abandoned for two years, and the price was so great for downtown I couldn't resist. It's over on Tattnall St. Moving in a week and a half, AAAAAAHHHH! :faint:

Thanks Jessica and Melissa for the imput. I like it, too, but I think I may make a slightly flashier title and live with that one for a bit and then see which one wins out. I can't wait for this house stuff to be over, so I can focus on what's really important! ::yes::

Here's my latest LO. I've been working on it pretty much all day. I wanted to try the speed scrap tonight, but I was still working on it. I have no idea why it takes me forever to scrap, paper or digital. Even using a template!

This is a 2 page LO for Spectromagic. I actually have been planning this in my head for a while to do as a paper LO. But once I started getting into digital, I thought it would be easier to do it as a digi LO. Especially since it's easier working with many pics, and I don't need to worry about getting glitter all over with my glitter chipboard letters! I saw Britt's Fantasmic LO where she recolored her Judy alpha, and that's exactly the look I was going for, so I did the same.

Here is the layout I did last night at the Speed Scrap:

http://scrapmatters.com/gallery/albums/userpics/normal_OneWorld-SM.jpg

I must say that when the first instruction to have 4-5 pictures came, I was a bit afraid since I normally don't use that many photos for one layout. I never quite know how to work in all the papers, but I thought it looked really cool putting the rectangles behind the pictures sort of corresponding to the colors in the icons. This is far different from anything I had done before. Its definitely a bit funky, but I kind of like it. I will say that the embellishment requirement also had me panicking (sp?) a bit. I've learned that using my Disney photos is easier than trying to use some of my other photos since I have the kits to go with the Disney pics so its easier to find things.

Thanks so much everyone for the great comments about my Spectromagic. :) It's definitely my favorite LO I've done so far. :D

kswm30b -- That is GORGEOUS! I left you some love over on Sm, too, but I like that layout so much, I had to tell you here, too!! So, how in the world did you make the date stamp glittery? Thank you! We were sitting at the hub, right near the pathway that goes to Tomorrowland. We waited almost an hour to secure that spot, and I know that's a place to avoid because of crowds, but it was our first day at Disney, and we wanted to take it slow anyway.

I'm probably going to make this more complicated than it needs to be, but here's how I made the date glittery. I first tried some glitter fills, but even recoloring them, I couldn't get the color I wanted. I took one of the alphas that I recolored that was the exact color I wanted, and just selected a small section of it. Then, defined that as a pattern (I have an older photoshop, but for me it was Edit-->Define Pattern.) Then I went back to my date png file, and I did a select all, so the whole canvas is selected. Then I filled it with the pattern (Edit-->Fill, select pattern, and then select the pattern I just made.) It'll probably look a bit weird, since it's tiling tiny glitter rectanges. ;) Then I grouped it with the date stamp, and presto!

KSWM: You rocked that LO! Super great job. I LOVE it! I have never gotten that many good pictures of Spectro. You deserve an award just for that feat alone.

Haha, thanks! I know it's REALLY hard to take pics of this. I was happy with what I got. Hopefully I'll do better next time. There's actually several pics that I wanted to include but had to keep it down to 14 pics (only me would thing 14 pics isn't enough!)

If anyone wants to see all my pics from the parade, I have them up here:

The Splash Mtn one is the one I made at Speed Scrap the other night and I'm trying to hurry to finish 20 pages that my step son would like since I get a free shutterfly book in 4 days, so 20 pages, 5 or 6 done... 4 days! eek! So the 2nd LO is one I did today, which will be the intro page. I was going to lift Melissa's 4 park page and took a turn early on so it's not much of a similar page, but you did inspire me originally! :D After looking at it, I am planning to rotate the year a bit to the right to match up with the picture line better.

So, how in the world did you make the date stamp glittery?

In SBC+ you can group the stamp and go to tools and fill it with a glitter "paper". I actually did the same thing as kswm30b and took a section of a letter since the glitter was more larger (more granular looking) and saved it as a png and put in MY STUFF as a piece of paper and I fill word art and date stamps and recolor.

Fran - I love the two new layouts! We only made it to three of the parks this year because we went to Sea World - but I still love the park layout. I love the half circles at the top.

Cool! And then how to you recolor the glitter? If I try to color something in SBC+, it goes all flat on me (like just filled with the color, not glittery anymore). IS there a way to recolor the glitter in SBC+?

Now I need to find some glitter paper. Any ideas?

Here's a LO I did today. I think it is the first LO I have done that doesn't have any thing by Britt-ish designs on it!! I used stuff from Digitreats Jump ABC kit. I love the colors of that kit and I just realized today that they are perfect colors for POP!
It uses:
paper from HayNay Designs Jump paper Add-On,
elements from DigiTreats Felt Layer Your Own elements
frame from Digitreats Jump Elements 10
POP logo from our own Fran, altered a little by me (I added the blue and white splats and the words Disney's and Resort to her logo)
Rubik's cube picture by auntie rain (from Flickr)
Foosball pic by migoto chou (from Flickr)
PlayDoh pic by nmleyes (from Flickr)

I'm not sure if I need something in that little blank space at the top or if I like it the way it is. I kind of wanted to see a little of the background paper, KWIM? Here it is!!

Perfect as always Labdogs! That kit looks like it could work for Goofy as well; seems to be the right color.
I would also like to add to the many compliments that KSWM has been getting for the Spectromagic LO! Very WOW!

Thanks! oooh, it would be good for Goofy, too. Good idea!

You can still get a lot of the parts of this kit for free. A lot of different designers are doing elements and papers to coordinate with her kit. She has something new almost every day on her blog. I subscribe via Google Reader so I don't miss anything! I did buy the felt elements, but the papers were free.

Great pages ladies... just home from camping and am catching up. Jessica -- to recolor glitter paper or elements in SBC+ have you tried clicking on enhance - hue and then sliding the little hue bar thingy (really technical term there) around? I have recolored some of Britt's Glitter alphas and some glitter papers that way.

I do the same thing as DisneyCruiser2008 to recolor - sometimes after I use HUE - I have to go to COLOR under enhance toget just the right color. As for glitter paper - I have a bunch from Carol Abram - but I searched the web and I can't find where she is selling except scraphead and they only have a few of her products. Can anyone else help with glitter paper?

Fran - I love the LO of Splash Mountain and of you guys at all four parks. And your teacup paper looks great!!!!

Labdogs - another perfect LO as usual. That paper just looks liike it was made with the Pop in mind.

Sorry I've been out of it again. A new community that I'm part of opened today and we've been playing merry Hades just trying to make sure that everything's set right (the gallery, the forums, etc). Been looking at a lot of php code and I detest php! But it was worth it... I think it turned out pretty good looking. Check us out at http://ahhhscrap.com.

I also volunteered to host the first challenge over there. Britt, hope you don't mind that I kind of scraplifted your idea of a challenge. I was so impressed at the variety of LOs when you did the "Can you scrap this?" challenge that I took it as a model for my first challenge. I called mine "Scrap Happens" (I just know I'm going to love playing on the name of the store ;-P). Here's the example LO I did for the challenge.

Ok, I'm going crazy. Would you believe that the ONLY completed books that I have are Disney trips! It's one of the few true motivators that I have! lol. SO,... I'm thinking about trying to get some pictures from my in-laws and my mother from our childhood WDW trips. I think it could be really cool. There are some extremely funny pics of 80's clothes!:rotfl2: What do you think? It'll probably just turn out to be a few LOs.
It'll be easier getting them from my MIL than my mom. At least my MIL has boxes of pics :scared1: and not just them scattered all over... My mom wasn't the best at making sure pics were taken.:rolleyes1 But, I'll see what I can find this weekend when I go to her house. Wish me luck on finding pics. Oh and being a Single Mom while DH is in S.Africa for nearly 2 weeks! :worried:

Well maybe more then 5 days... um 10? But most in the last 5 days LOL... I slack... a lot! I cut out the tea cup from a pic and then turned it into a tube (similar to brush) and was going to paste it but it wasn't rotating like it was supposed to (and my eraser brush does rotate and it shouldn't... i have rotation issues) ... anyway I ended up putting 4 of them on a small image and then making a pattern of it on my color and filling in the layer with the pattern, which is why it's very repetitive. I decided I didn't like the purple and went with Britt's tea cup background after all!

I finally got my book... I was on hold waiting for CS for about an hour at almost midnight!! Apparently a lot of people were having problems with their free books and pics and they all expired last night. Eventually at midnight a nice gal probably in India answered the phone and was helpful and fixed my issue and I got my free book.

These are LOs of my trip from earlier this month. When I got the free email, I didn't have anything ready to print, so I figured I'd make a 20 pager of the trip and give it to my stepson so he can take it home with him and have something there of our trip. Once I finish the remaining LOs I will print myself a larger book. :)

Here they all are, I've been going crazy the last few days. I may have posted a couple of them... I know I posted the tea cup one, but I did change that one. If others are repeats, I apologize. They are chronological and it worked out just perfect for my 2 pagers luckily!!

Starting to rain/storm here, so posting this and will edit in pics... don't want to lose anything.

Most are Britt's stuff, a couple (ASM (SOTB Sig Collab), PR (just used an overlay), CP(SM Mother Nature kit)) are not. I don't have them uploaded anywhere with credits added, so please feel free to ask if you don't recognize Britt's stuff.

One more thing... if you look at the first page of the pirate party LO, you can see the shirts I made from Britt's Shiver Me Timbers kit. I put "pirate" names on the back of them too... Scallywag Sam, Terrible Tim, Fearless Fran & my stepson didn't like my original name for him so we gave him Adventurer Aaron.

Here are two LO's I did tonight:
http://psukaras.smugmug.com/photos/320162689_ZitcW-L.jpg
Made with Creative Memories Disney Digital PP papers, stars from Britt-ish designs, clips and frame from Silver Basics, and Mickey head border by Seebee's Freebies

no credits, really except for fonts -- Baby Kruffy and Disney Print. I might do something to the title like add some bling or something, but I'm not sure. I may play with it more later.

Labdogs Would it be OK with you if I email you all of my disney pictures and you can just scrap them??:) All your LO are so fun to see! Is that "the party's over page" going to be the last page of your book? I also like a page you did for one of the challenges with your family waving to the castle.
Anyway, you asked about where I found Abu for Britt's last challenge. Sorry to answer it here, but I figured that I have already started this note to you. Check out this link: http://www.disneyclips.com/ Around the middle of the page click on "movies" then "aladdin" While you are there, you will find endless clipart of all things Disney. I frequently searched this site when I was making t-shirts for our trip.

I just completed my first speed scrap at scrapmatters! So fun! It seemed to be an easy one compared to others I've seen. Even though I have a hard time with color challenges, when I saw the color paper in the first instructions, I knew exactly what I was going to scrap.

We all try to post our credits with our pages, just look at the credits to see where elements came from. For this LO, click the picture and it will take you to scrapmatters where the credits are listed. There are tons of swirls out there, just go shop for the ones you like!! The party's over page is just the end of the P&P party. I'm going to have a page next to it with my fireworks pics from the party (also on a black background). The page with us waving to the castle will be the final page in the book.

I'd love to be able to do that for people, I just don't know how it would work or how much I'd have to charge to make it worthwhile! It is something that has crossed my mind, I just wasn't exactly sure how to answer!

So far, I have gotten a few pages printed as single page prints and I'm planning to get the Disney LO's as a book. I only started digi-scrapping a few months ago, so I haven't gotten much printed yet.

I'm very new to digi scrapbooking so I have been looking through everyones pages and they are WONDERFUL!!! I have a question. I've seen some where it looks like the person in the picture has been cut out and placed on the lo. How do you cut people or things out of a picture without the jagged edges and it looking messy? One in particular that I saw was on page 1.

Emerson: I print mine out at Shutterfly.com. The more pages you have, the cheaper it gets per page so I save mine up a bit.

Princess: I'm on PSE 5 and use the extractor tool to pull people, etc., out of the pictures.

Okay, this is so :offtopic: but I just had to tell someone, have someone feel my outrage. Here's the email I just had to send to my city rep.:

Hello! When you get the chance would you please ask the contractor for the project to tell his guys that 506 Tattnall Street is NOT a public restroom. Apparently, people from the road crew have been coming to my house and using the powder room. My contractor had put a sign on my front door saying the restroom was out of order, which led me to question if there was a problem with the water at the house. The sign hasn't slown anyone down, though, as the people cleaning my house today told me that three people came to use the powder room while they were cleaning and they didn't know if I had given permission or not, as the men just walked in like they owned the place, so they didn't say anything to them. I'm sure once I move in tomorrow this will quickly become a moot point, but I thought it was important to report something so obviously inappropriate.

OMG! Can you believe that!! The road crew is just using my powder room, just walking in my house and using my powder room. :faint: I'm just outraged and strangely amused at the same time. I mean when does this happen for Pete's Sake?? All I can say is it would make a great scene in the next "crazy people in Savannah-a working title" move/book/tell all we get. Geesh.

PS: If anyone has any spare pixie dust, I could use it for my big move tomorrow. I already feel so unprepared, the road in front of my house was torn up yesterday and so we're going to have to park down the street a bit and carry everything in, oh, and, yeah, my bathroom isn't going to be ready upstairs. And now, apparently, I'm going to have to stand at my front door and turn people away, no, I'm sorry, sir, this is not a public restroom. Or maybe I should charge $10 as a cover fee and try to cover the cost of movers? ;)

Ok, so I LOVE some of the pages that you guys are doing with Britts Kits! Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a QP exchange like over on ScrapMatters? Can you, could you, would you, host a QP swap with one of your kits, Britt? Either over there (SM) or over here? I would LOVE it to have that DIS emphasis! But even if not here then maybe there are enough crossover people! lol
(-over on SM you have to buy a kit and use only stuff from that kit, so there's no ::cop: Then, you email the file, .png if possible to the leader and she compiles them all and puts them in one .zip file for those who joined in the fun!)

I am not sure, but I just placed an order for a free 8 x 8 photo album last night and there was a button on my project page to make into a 12 x 12.

BTW I ended up adding 18pgs to the book so I had to pay $1/pg extra plus shipping, but I was ecstatic to receive the free photo book offer! I guess I will be checking my special offers in my account more closely!)

I was wondering is it cheaper to digiscrap or use Shutterfly? Has anyone checked into it? How much does it cost you guys to print a page of your digiscrap and what size? And where do you get them printed? If at home what type of printer do you use and how much ink do you go through? How many color pages to a cartridge?

It is in a special place, you have to look for digital scrapbooking resources or something like that. I have a hard time finding it every time I look for it! I think there might be a list of places to get digital stuff printed in the digital scrapbooking FAQ thread.

http://scrapmatters.com/gallery/albums/userpics/normal_SBCastle2-SM.jpg (http://scrapmatters.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10667&pos=0)

My lunch hour is normally from 1:00-2:00 (ET) and I had to run some errands so I wasn't sure I would be able to join in the fun, but I got back to my desk at 1:50 and quickly logged onto Scrap Matters and got it knocked out by 2:30. :yay: :cool1: I had to burn the file onto a desk from the laptop so I could upload it using my work PC which has the Internet. So it really was a SPEED scrap. ::yes:: Its simply and pretty basic, nothing too fancy since I was under a time crunch. Overall not too bad. Though it was kind of nice coming in at the end since I knew everything ahead of time so I could place things without having to rearrange things when the next instruction comes in like what happens quite often. Quite fun though. :) :thumbsup2

Eek, I'm 2 pages behind in responding! I'll blame it on the fact that I've completed 4 LOs in the last 2 days (3 paper & one digi.) Still no excuse to neglect you guys! ;)

KSWM All you pages are so great. Didn't you just start digi-scrapping? I'm really impressed!

Aww, thanks so much! Yea, I basically started in early May. It's addicting. ;)

Can I say how awesome you guys are? Not only do make amazing LOs, but you really know how to pump up a girl's ego. ;) Really, you've all been so sweet & welcoming. I think part of the reason I'm addicted now is because of all of you!

kwsm - love the olympic trials LO.. especially the writing around the pictures. And I love the chocolate page! The alpha is wonderful.

Thanks :)

The Shutterfly offer was good until midnight Pacific time or 3:00 am Eastern time. It definitely sounds like it was a problem for everyone. All those last minute people! LOL I can't wait for mine to get here. :)

That's why you shouldn't wait until the last minute. :P LOL, I'm the world's greatest procrastinator, so I'm one to talk! I ordered mine the day before, but not with digi LOs. I didn't have enough (or a set), so I just printed another copy of the book I made last time they had a free offer. Hopefully next time I'll have enough digi LOs!

I'm finally starting to feel better again and managed to get this layout finished. I'm hoping it will help bring back my creativity because in about another another 6 1/2 months I will have a lot more pictures to scrap. :yay:

How did you extract Princess Jasmine's autograph for the jasmine LO? I have to try and do that with our autographs from the last trip. I thought of it after I did a character page the other day! I posted this in the wrong thread, and couldn't even delete it before someone responded, lol. At least it was a digi thread, so it made sense! ;) Anyway, someone posted in the last few pages asking about printing out your LOs. I recently ordered 3 pages (my Spectromagic & Cinderella Mural LOs) from scrapbookpictures.com. They arrived today, and they came out fantastic! They look so real! I'm so excited because now I don't have to worry about making digi LOs for my October trip album, since they'll fit right in with my paper LOs! So that's a 2 thumbs up for printing out your LOs. :)

Here's my speed scrap from yesterday. I'm not in love with it, but people (including my mom, who has finally come around to the whole digi scrapbook thing!) were giving it positive comments, so maybe it's just me, lol.

Hi everyone... just wanted to stop by and say hi. Y'all's pages are looking great!!! DisneyCruiser, I love the HM page for your nephew.... and why shouldn't you have some blackmail material? Oh wait... it's only material if you haven't shown it around yet ;-)

I like the idea of a QP exchange.... y'all do such great work and it'd be nice to be able to just slip a few pictures behind LOs and call it done. Seems to be the only way I'll have time to do any more scrapping of my own these days. Life's just gotten soooooo hectic. Sometimes I wish I would just have a nervous breakdown... then maybe I'd get some rest ;-)

Here's the LO I did for the Template Challenge at scrapmatters. I wanted to do a page with favorites from our trip, and thought this template worked great with that. So hard to chose just 10, as I could chose 10 from the Halloween Party alone! I wanted to include more journaling (why I chose each), oh well.

I have some problems with this LO, and I'm desperately hoping you guys can help! I save my LOs as the psd, 12x12 jpg & 600x600 jpg, as I'm sure many of you do. I had no problem saving this as a 600 jpg, obviously. But when I saved it as a 12x12, it won't work. It saves it, but then the file is blank, and it won't even reopen in photoshop. I've tried everything, including opening a new 12x12, moving a merged view of the psd over to that new file, and saving that, and I still have that problem. But other sizes, including 8x8 and even desktop wallpaper, all work. I even tried saving a different psd as a 12x12 to see if it was photoshop, but that worked fine. I have digi LOs where the psd is a larger file size than this one, so that can't be the problem either. I'm still going to try saving it on my laptop's Photoshop, but I don't think that will help. I've tried everything I can think of...HELP!? This is definitely a LO I want to print, and I spent parts of 3 days working on it. *sigh*

Hi sconnell - I think it would be SO FUN to do a QP exchange. The DIS admins are pretty strict with me about not trying to promote my own stuff here, so I'm not sure we could actually HOST the exchange on the DIS boards but maybe we could do this some way, some how. Like SM you'd have to purchase the kit to participate. The only way you can share a QP made with a designer's stuff is if you have explicit permission from that designer to do so. Same goes for Scrap for Hire stuff. You can't just buy a kit, make pages and share them with the world. Make sense? Ok - let me mull on this QP exchange idea for a bit. Someone else brought the idea to me a week or 2 ago too so let me think about how we could do it.
I totally understand, and I REALLY REALLY hope that you can figure out a way to make this work. I LOVE your kits. I'm continually taken back by the awesome work that you do and the amazing LOs I've seen on here! :) I don't know what your obligations are to ScrapMatters either and I don't want to get you in trouble... Just wanting to share the love. :cutie:

BTW, love the latest LOs! That Hannah Montana one ROCKS! My DD5 would LOVE that! We're going to Panama City Beach in August and she keeps calling it Hannah Montana Beach...:rotfl2:
KSWM, maybe you could do a 2nd page with more journaling? I'm going to have to do a top ten page too!

Hello! Wow - the layouts on here are great and inspirational!!! I think I spend more time buying digital elements and downloading freebies thank scrapbooking.

I haven't had anytime to scrap - but I did make twins' invite for their 3rd birthday and wanted to share!

I wanted to put LILO on there - but we had a LILO themed party two years ago for my oldest.

I've started working on our cruise from a couple of weeks ago. I have several in progress pages but here are a couple that I finished today. The template was in the July issue of Creating Keepsakes and I thought it was perfect for those times when I get out of control with my picture taking.

I was looking through some old pictures and found one of DS(now 14) and his dad getting dressed for his First Communion. Then I remembered that I had something similar from our recent cruise. So I just had to scrap this up and then I just had to come over here and share it. Now I'm going to stare at it for a while and cry because my baby's gone.

I am very new to digital scrapbooking and have been looking on all the freebie sites and I am so amazed at how much you can get for free and it's not just the stuff no one wants it's AMAZING...

I am having one problem. There are a couple sites that have freebies but you have to add them to a shopping cart, enter in your contact info, check out then they will give you the link to download the freebies. Each time I tried to download from those kind of sites I got an error message that said the download failed. I've been able to download freebies from all other websites except those where I have to put the freebies into a shopping cart. The two websites are http://scrapmatters.com/shop2/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4&zenid=fd92e3736ffeb18c8ec2b405d757d95d and http://ahhhscrap.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21_37_40&products_id=139&zenid=0b40e0ed013ab07e6350bf1c8c1c653f

Am I doing something wrong? TIA!!

Hey, KSWM... I'm one of the designers over at Ahhh Scrap. As soon as I saw your message I contacted Joni, one of the store owners. She said she found a few that hadn't uploaded right. She would like you to email her directly at joni@ahhhscrap.com so she can make it right.

Thanks. Yes, I made the Mickey Head from a font called Mickey Ears Extra. The whole font is various Mickey icons (dingbats) with different cutouts. One of the letters is a plain Mickey so I used that with paper from the kit to make the Mickey Bar.

I did make the frames myself. I have different color glitter "swatches" and used it as a pattern fill on the plain frames. It was a template I got from Sweet Shoppe Designs, their temp challenge within the past couple weeks.

The swirls are from Britt's kit Dreams Do Come True, available at Scrap Matters.

The silver star is part of the same kit by Britt, the green and yellow stars I made the same way as the frames. I also did the alpha and glitter circle ribbon. The glitter Mickey is Britt's from her Happiest Kit on Earth freebie, available on her blog.

CONGRATS!!! Beautiful layout! :) I love the colors!!! The date of your child's "debut" is my sister's birthday.

Thanks for the congrats!:) We are pretty excited about it. We have been trying to have another for the last 2+ yrs and after losing one last year in an ectopic pregnancy that ruptured we were pretty excited when we found out about it. Both kids can't wait to meet their baby brother or sister.

Everyone's layouts that have been posted the last few days have been great. :) Hopefully after get back from Wisconsin Dells this weekend I can find more time to get some more layouts done. I'm missing working on my stuff. :)

Here is the layout I did for the Scrap matters Tuesday Template challenge. Every Memorial Day at Greenfield Village they have Civil War Remembrance weekend where there are reenactors that come in to do various demonstrations for the artillery, infantry, and my favorite: the cavalry. They have places set up with artifacts. At the one home they set up a Civil War funeral and these two women will talk to you about the funeral customs back then. Its a fun weekend. I tried to use photos of all the different things that they do during the weekend. The one photo is of our Civil War bears that we got at Antietam back in 2004. I didn't date my layout because the photos are from various years from 2005-2008.

The photos (L-R) are of the Widows at the Adams house, Union soldiers drilling on the green, our Civil War bears, Civil War artifacts, which is a Union cavalry shell jacket, and the MI Cavalry demonstration.
