A quick question with regards to the Disney Dining Plan. Can this be booked if you are staying at a DVC resort (and have your park tickets)?

you have too add ddp for each person for the length of stay,so if you ar 4 people staying 14 nights, you will have to buy it for 4 for 14 nights. If you have seperate stays say 7nights BCV,3 nights OKW then 4 nights SSR.You could oppt to have the ddp for each portion. So you could have it for the first 7 nights then the last 4 or just the middle 3.Hope this helps, there is no restriction on the total nights you can have it ie if you are staying 21 night you can get it for 21 nights

One small word of warning - you can't get DDP if you use your DVC points to stay at a non-DVC resort. So don't splurge out on staying at the Poly with points if you want DDP! :)

We paid for the DDP last at our stay in the Beach Club Villas, it did make us try some resturants that we'd never got round to eating at. We did 'save money', in that the cost of the food we ate was more than the cost of DDP, but there was an awful lot of food to eat. Our trip was 14 days, so we had to have the plan for all 14 days - it would be much better if you could choose a number of days to buy the plan for. I've just had a thought, in theory you could make two 7 day linked reservations and only buy the DDP for one of them!
A couple of thoughts on DDP. You will need to make ADR's for your table service meals and don't make too many buffet reservations - we did, thinking we could just pick the bits we wanted to eat, rather than ordering something specific, but we got fed-up of seeing the same options on the buffet. The Resturant Marrakesh was the best meal we ate (much to our suprise), we had the Kings Feast and the actual cost of this meal was more than the daily cost of the DDP. The 'worst' meal we had was the buffet at the Holywood and Vine (see comments above on buffets!) and the most disappointing was Le Cellier - we've eaten there before a couple of times and loved it, but I think both me and DW made the wrong meal choices! I ordered the Salmon which came on a cornbread 'cake' which was about 8 inches in diameter - now I like cornbread, but there was way too much of it.
