This time last year, I was looking for ideas for a premade autograph album. Thanks to all of you for your ideas. When we left for the trip in December, I had around 50 pages made for each child -- a total of 100 pages. Since our return, I have been adding the photos and making the pages for the characters we met that we didn't already have a page for. It was a lot of work to deal with the pages in the parks, but DH was really good about, the kids loved it, and the characters were excited to see their pages.

I am going to attempt to post some pages -- I hope it works!

They look wonderful! I brought blank cardstock rectangles with me last week and everyone we met signed those. I will be making an autograph book with them once I get the pictures back! :)

Awesome job! This is the kind of album I am trying to make for my 3 kids. I'd love to scraplift some of those if you don't mind. Where did you get all of your sticker embellishments/character images?

123SA
02-25-2007, 02:52 PM
Thanks! I got my embellishments and stuff everywhere! Is there something in particular you are interested in? Mushu and the Little Einsteins are clip art that I printed on photo paper. The square stickers are from a vendor on ebay. I also got a lot of the paper, fibers and die cuts from scrapbookclearance.com I shopped at ACMoore, my LSS and Mousememories.com too.

Wow, I love your pages! You sure got a lot of autographs and the kids will love looking back at the album for a long time!

I love the background papers you used: they don't compete with the pictures or embellishments but they are really pretty.

The square ones were some I hadn't seen before. Which ebay vendor did you use?

I was also wondering about Mushu and the Little Einsteins.

No AC Moore here. I will have to check out that scrapbook clearance site.

You mentioned Mouse Memories. Did you go to the MM store while you were there?

123SA
02-25-2007, 03:13 PM
The sqaure ones are like the ones they give to the kids at the doctor's office. I am pretty sure the vendor was Sunset Stickers and MORE. The size worked well with the 8x8 page. The only problem is I am not sure if they are acid-free. They are Sandy Lion so maybe.

I did not get to the mousememories store itself. I shopped on-line. Perhaps on the next trip.

I found the clip art site from this board. I don't rember the site, but if you did a seacrh you may be able to find it. The pictures are tiny because I couldn't figure out how to print them out any larger without the quality deteriorating. The Little Einsteins are each individual clip arts that I repeated to make a border.

Okay I have to ask- How did you possibly know in advance which characters you would see? You had some pretty rare finds like Pocahontas, Mushu and Jiminy Cricket? I have been several times and never seen any of them. Did you just make everyone you could think of or how did you come up with a list? You make my son's autograph look pretty sad and pathetic!!!

I started with the princesses -- DD6 wanted all of them, regardless of our odds of meeting them. So I did make an Esmeralda page and of course we didn't meet her. Then I did the characters I was pretty sure we would meet at character meals. Then I made pages according to our odds of meeting them. Our trip was 12 days; we did go to each park more than once. I did do my research before I left to find out where the characters were and I did ask for help from CMs once we were there. Pocahontas and Jiminy Cricket are in Rafiki's Planet Watch in AK, by the way. DD6 is really into meeting the characters, so I plan our day with that in mind. Actually, this is what really got me into scrapbooking. I never scrapped until our first WDW trip.

Also, I didn't have all of these done before we left. I brought more tags with me. Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio, Baloo, Flik, Stanley I did after we got back

I made pages for the purple mouse (Perla), the Fairy Godmother, Chicken Little, Esmeralda and Jafar and we didn't meet them.

You just took the tags with or the whole book ??
I made the pages and then thought -- uh-oh what am I going to do with these? The albums that I bought were the Sandy Lion ones with the boxes. I carried the pages in 2 of these boxes, not in the page protectors because I thought it would be too hard to get them in and out while at the park. After the page was signed, I kept them in the hotel in a third box. The boxes I carried in an XL ziploc. Now it wasn't rainy season so this was okay -- not sure how I would feel about this method in Aug or Sept. Toward the end of the trip, I was down to one box. Yes, this was a bit of a pain, but in the end it was worth the effort. I could not have done it so easily if DH had not helped. I got the pages ready and took the photos. He got the kids to the character, helped the character sign, and put the page away.

Did you make the tags or did you buy them?

I made the tags at my LSS -- it is a die cut.

Sorry, I orderd so long ago. I don't remember the shipping being either great or really bad -- so I'd guess it was pretty standard. The same with the shipping.

When I ordered, you had to place a $50 order to get the super discounted prices. Even without, the prices are still great. They do sell cardstock too. I think I may have ordered some cardstock to get my order total up to $50.

I have orderd 2 or 3 times and have not had any problems. One order was short an item and they very promptly mailed it out. I definitely recommend their site.

Awesome pages. I totally have to ask in Jimney will be at the Planet watch the day we are there. I'll just die to get a photo with him. What about Flik? MGM? Thanks. I think I should get one of these together for DD2. By the end of our last trip she wanted to copy her big sister get autographs so..... hmmm maybe.

We found Flik at AK in the area around the tree/Discovery Island. He was tucked away along a path.

02-26-2007, 03:35 PM
Flik is definitely on a hidden path... Our gang almost ran him over by the tree.. We were on a mission to hit Kali Rapids when he wandered into our path.. Lucky for us we were able to get a nice picture of him.. He was on his way for a break from the hot sun..but the CM did let him pose for a self-potrait!!!
Pocahontas can be found at Rafiki's Planet Watch in the Conservation Station! We have seen her there routinely! She has great interaction with the kids.
Of course Rafiki is there too.. He is a riot with the kids.. especially, the older grumpier teens that wish they were anywhere but with their parents!

Actually, you and the kids (if you have any) might really enjoy the Conservation Station.. It's a beautiful walk from the train station to the Conservation Station.. it's rich in "jungle" like plants and great for pictures!! On the ride over you can see where they house the animals for the safari.
At the conservation station 2 years in a row we were able to see them do "live" surgeries on rescued animals or animals that lived in the park that needed it.. It's not gory.. but very interesting. There is also a petting zoo.. I'm not too keen on it..but the kids love it.. and the kids smell like hand sanitizer when I'm done with them!

I would like to know you if did premade the tags before your and just took the cardstock with you and then made the tags at home??

I made complete pages before we left for most of the characters. 8x8 pages, diecut tag. I did take several extra tags and I did need them. Since I had 2 kids, i think I had about 50-60 pages with me. Some I made after we got home--Darth Vader, Flik and more. DD6 really enjoyed the reaction of the characters over "her" pages. It was a lot of work to deal with the pages at the park but worth it. I think for our Sept trip, I'll just bring tags.

Something else to note, the photo size for most of the pages is 3.5 x 5. I had a hard time finding a place that would print that size and I ended up have to do most of it at home.

I have a silly question, I'm making an autograph album for both of my kids for our August trip. I made the pages in Word using clipart. Will it look stupid to use ivory card stock to print the pages on but then on the other side of the book where the picture of the characters and children use designed scrapbook paper (ex. disney pages or princess pages)? I think it would be hard to print on the designed pages as most of them are pretty dark colors. Please be honest with your opinions here. Where can I find a list of characters that will be there Aug 4-9, probably be spending most of out time at MK and AK. Our kids are 2 1/2 and 5 on the 7th.

I agree that you can't print it out on the desiged paper. I think it willl look nice as you described.

As for where are the characters...here are some suggestions
1. go to google and type in Steve Soares. (I don't know how to do the link) His site lists the times for events and character meetings throughout the parks. However, he posts a new schedule each week so your week won't be available yet, but it will give you an idea. Also, only regularly scheduled characters are listed

2. go to the theme park strategies section of ths board. I just posted a thread "Hugsforeyeore -- can you post your link?" She is a DIS member who has her own website that lists where the characters are and their frequency. It is a great site.

Hope this helps!

We used the tag idea last October and I have to say it worked really well. We had different color tags on a book ring. Then the kids matched the tag color to the character, example Cinderella got a light blue tag while Aurora got pink. Then every evening we removed the tags and put them away in the luggage. When I got home I made the pages with the autograph and photo. I like to carry as little as possible and making the pages in advance seemed to stressful at the park.
