Hello,
I have my phone interview for marketing-related professional internships on Sunday. Has anyone gone through this before, and is able to tell me a little bit about what this is like?

Thanks,
Jeff

I sent my resume in for 3 different positions:
Copyright-Travel Industry Marketing Internship
Special Programs Marketing Internship
Disney Cruise Line Internal Communications Intern

Maybe one of them will work out!

Congratulations!

If you haven't already interviewed this first interview will probably be just a "are you disney material?" interview. I applied for the Disney Design Group internship and made it past the first interview, now I'm waiting to find out if I get to interview again.

Mine was basic questions. Know why you want to work for disney, and what you strengths are. Be prepared to talk about you!

Smile on the phone. Be enthusiastic, they want you to want to work for them.

And Good Luck!

I had that first interview on Sunday... I guess I'll get a phone call if any of the three internships is interested in me - the person I spoke to said that my information was being passed on, so hopefully that's a good sign. I also need to fill out an application and mail it in.

Good luck to you also!

Are any of you applying for Communication Planning internships? I think the person who applied for the DDG internship is considered Communication Planning.

I am currently doing an internship in Communication Planning and I just found out that I'm being extended through January.

Let me know how your guys' interviews are going!

How long did it take before you guys heard back for a 2nd interview??? I had my first one Feb 28, and mailed my packet/application to them on March 1. I'm going to lose my mind if I don't hear back shortly!!! I hate uncertainty, and I need to start looking for a backup summer job at home. I know I can't be the only one losing their mind!!! :scared:

Congratulations on getting an interview! It's definitely a long process of interviews so try not to get too anxious! My suggestion for the second interview is to be ready for any types of questions and just be yourself!! :) Good Luck! I love my internship; Travel Industry Sales!!

I have my second interview on Thursday. Apparently there are three people at Disney who will be participating in the call.

How many interviews could there be?

Rustyflwr3
03-16-2007, 11:06 PM
Generally, you will only have one interview per department, if that's what you mean!

If there are three people involved in the call, it could be the supervisors and a few existing co-workers. I know I had a few of my co workers on the phone when I did my interview! :)

You said there was quite a process of interviews, I thought you meant there were more than two. Phew! Any idea how many people they could be considering?

Rustyflwr3
03-17-2007, 10:53 PM
Well, I guess what I meant was that if you are called from other departments and that thw whole process is long! I applied in May, got my first interview in September and then didn't hear anything until November! There is the general screening then I had two or three others from different departments, but only one per!! lol, don't worry!! :) You will definitely be fine, just be prepared with questions you think that department will ask and just be yourself and try to click with the interviewer! I think it's as much about how you "click" as it is your resume, etc.!!! :) It all depends on the department with how many others they are considering...I really don't know!

I had the strangest interview experience. Disney Design group called me the day after I sent in my portfolio and I had what is typically referrered to as a second interview my first time around. I had two artists talking to me about my work and neither one asked me anything that would be referred to as a typical interview question. During the conversation I asked if I would be getting the more standard "first interview" and they said that DDG didn't do things the typical way so I guess that was it. Anybody else have this happen?

I have had my first interview which i was told was prescreening for all 3 of my interships. It went well now i need the pixie dust like the rest of you for the second. I went out for Labor operations technology, MK scheduler specialist, and animal programs information management. MickyFlick which one do you go for with the CDS as that what mine sounded and wondered how your second interview was about. Centry thats how my GF's was no first interview str8 to a the department. I have been there before on a college program anyone else.

I have my interview with the CDS department on Friday. I am nervous and excited all in the same moment.

Do any of you know where you are going to live if accepted. I dont think i want to live at NorthBridge. I have a dog and it would kill me to have to leave him behind. Any ideas or suggestions on other housing in Orlando?

MickyFlick_313: I am also applying for the CDS internship. I was wondering if you knew a little about what the job description is? How did you interview go? How long did they say before you would hear something?

cidhw95
03-28-2007, 03:37 PM
Thats what it was called cast deplotment intership? I applied for sceduler for MK which involves the cds and labor operations technology on working on the CDS software and other Labor software. I never saw that cast deployment internship on the list was wondering if that is the name of that intership. We can all work on the CDS lol.

I'd love to match up with someone people here for roomates if I get accepted--preferrably somewhere a little closer. I've been looking around at apartments and if we got a two bedroom for four people it gets a lot cheaper non-disney.

I'm not sure anyone would find cheaper housing close enough... like North Orlando you could get 3/2 for about 650, but once you get closer to Disney you're looking at 1200 easy for that kind of room.

But if anyone is interested in rooming, I'm fairly "local" (Gainesville, FL), so if anyone is looking for another roommate, I'd be happy to scout out apartments ^_^.

I did not have that experience. And from what you have said I am a little worried about my experience. What position did you apply for? And are you a t four year or two year college? I had the first interview a month ago and am still waiting to hear back... Have you heard back yet?

Thanks

I applied for the assistant character artist internship with Disney Design Group, and like I said when I asked them about the fact I didn't have a pre-screening interview they said that DDG "worked differently" than the rest of the internship program. My interview was on March 17, and they said I'd hear something probably around the end of april.

Oh and I go to a 4 year college, I'm getting a BFA in illustration.

ShareADreamComeTrue:

I re-read this thread and forgot you were applying for DDG too. I thought I'd go into my detail about my interview since you seem worried.

The interview seemed fairly spontaneous (March 15-portfolio arrived, March 16-scheduled interview, March 17-interview), they didn't have my online resume/application or anything--just asked all their questions based on my portfolio and the cover letter with it. Did you send your portfolio earlier? Mine arrived right on the deadline so maybe it made it to the top of the pile that way. I'm sure they have quite a few people to go through.

The interviewers I had were Quynh Kimball and Monty Maldovan (you can see some of their work (mostly pins and such) if you google them). The day they called to schedule the interview I wrote down every possible normal interview question I could imagine and came up with some answers--that did absolutely no good and I think it made me more nervous. The questions were about 70% concerning explaining the process of my pieces, 15% about my school and 15% about my time as a CP (I worked on the animation tour at mgm).

Overall I came away feeling like I sounded less experienced than I feel I am, I could tell I was really nervous because I was clinching the phone so tight my arm was a little sore after the interview (which was 30-40 minutes long).

So anyway, there's still a lot of time so don't worry too much! I'd like to see some of you work if you have some online. I hate not knowing what levels "the competition" are working at *lol*. It's aight though, since you're doing graphic design and i'm doing character. Good luck!

I had an interview on March 8th for the Deployment Internship and they told me that I would find out in two weeks. Three days after the two weeks was up I got an email saying that I would find out the first week in April. I am so nerous! I hope they call and tell us soon!

I had a question, if no one minds asking, what did the interviewers say during the interview? What I mean by that is, what questions were asked? And what did the interviewers say when you answered the questions? How long was the interview? Who gave the interview? Also, did they say how many people were going to be hired? I know it sounds like a lot of questions but I am trying to get a feel for how they interview. I am taking an HR class and am writing a paper on Disney's hiring. Thanks in advance for the help!

I CAN NOT WAIT TO FIND OUT THE RESULTS! I hope we all get in! It will be so much fun! Good luck everyone!

I had my first "pre-screen" interview this past Thursday...pretty standard according to other experiences I've seen on the boards...

I applied for 3 Management Internships - Operations, Recreation, and Sports Complex. I sent my application in Express Mail because they said that Recreation and the Sports Complex were already looking at applications, but that Operations was a little bit behind...

Keeping my finger's crossed...

Hey! New to the forums here, was actually browsing the web on info about what to expect for my professional internship (found next to nothing).

After literally a 2-month long application process (applied on 8/20, first interview was mid-September, position offered first week of October)...

I'm accepting a "role" for a professional internship in the Marketing Dept.!!!

I don't think I graduated from CP, but I was a former cast member-left in good standing, had tons of guest service awards, etc., so that prob had something to do with it.

Anyway, if anyone's ever done Casting Marketing, let me know =p.

Congrats, Eterion! Do you know when you check in? Casting Marketing sounds exciting!

DisneyRoe: I haven't heard anything since my first interview, so you're not alone. Plus, I haven't heard anything from the other two internships that I applied for either, so I'm kind of worried as well. My record card was pretty good - no reprimands and about a dozen Guest Service Awards - but I have a feeling that the competition is pretty stiff. I had awesome managers, but I only keep in touch with one. Just keep the faith.
