I think I read somewhere that kids can either eat off of the kids menu or order a la carte food. Is this true?
TIA

The way I understand it children 9 and under must order off the children's menu if one is offered. I think that they did let us make substitutions if there were something that the kids didn't like. Other than that I don't know. Lasy year the only places I can remember not having a kids menu were the buffets...and it just had children's pricing.

I think what you're referring to are the new kids' menus at TS restaurants which offer a choice of either a "kids' complete meal," which includes a specific appetizer, entree and dessert all on one plate, or the "kids' picks," where the appetizers, entrees and desserts are a la carte and you can choose from 2 or 3 options for each. Here's an example from Sci Fi:
Kids' Complete Meals
These menus include one serving from each of the five food groups
Beef and Macaroni with marinara sauce and topped with mozzarella served with veggies and fruit salad $7.49
Pizza with mozzarella and diced chicken (optional) served with veggies and brown sugar apples $7.49
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kids' Picks
Choice of 1 appetizer, 1 entree and 1 dessert - $7.49
Appetizers: Tomato Soup OR Garden Salad
Entrees: Macaroni and Cheese OR Hamburger OR Hot Dog
(French fries and Soft Drinks Available Upon Request)
Desserts: Ice Cream Sundae OR Fruit Salad
Either way, the choices are all from the kids' menus, not the adults'. HTH!
