Ok here is my prob., I want to loose weight and I have started eating healthier and cut out fast food and stuff now I need to start exercising, well I get absoulutly bored at gyms its just boring and repatitive and drives me crazy, and I would go for walks but I live in a sort of bad part of town and I dont like the idea of walking by myself. So I started looking into some dance classes, and I saw some classes for bellydancing, Ive always been really intrested and on the website it says its classes are for women of all sizes, but im wondering if it is true? Im a size 20 and I just wonder if they are just saying that, would I look absoulutly ridiculous would people totally make fun of me? I brought it up at work and all my coworkers thought that it was the funniest thing in the world that I would even mention it, so I wonder if the other students/dancers would feel the same? im just wondering what you would do in my position? im sorry if this was a bit long....just wanting some advise....

I think it sounds like fun. Is there someone you could sign up with so you could go together? I'd go with you.

Belly dancing is a great workout - no matter what size you are (my stepsister does it). And if you don't enjoy it, you can always move on to something else - maybe the YMCA, where you can mix up the classes (spinning, pilates, etc.).

Go for it! I know from what you are writing that you feel self conscious. Don't be. Whenever I see someone who is larger coming into the gym I want to stand up and cheer. I am so proud of their effort to walk in that door. I know it is not easy.
You are there for you not them. Don't give anyone that control over your quest to become healthier. You go for it and do whatever it takes to get you there! Have fun, smile and get yourself moving any way you can.

PS: I would like to learn that some day. Let me know just how much fun it is!
