Caroline Rhea replaced by Alison Sweeney as host of The Biggest Loser 4


When The Biggest Loser 4 goes into production this spring, it will have a new host. Caroline Rhea, the host for the show’s first three seasons, has been replaced by Alison Sweeney, best known for her role on Days of Our Lives.

NBC gave Variety the typical corporate ******** line that Caroline Rhea left “to pursue other interests,” which means she was fired. But the show’s executive producer was a bit more candid, basically saying the host change is at least in part about increasing ratings. Sweeney “will bring not only a great fresh face but (also) a huge, loyal fan base,” Ben Silverman said.

As Variety reports, Sweeney “has also been public about her own past weight woes, writing about her battle vs. the bulge in her 2004 autobiography,” All The Days Of My Life (So Far).

how sad! though I agree Caroline didn't make or break the show, and I don't know this Allison Sweeney? for me the show worked and i'm saddened but i'll still be recording the show i'm sure!

The Biggest Loser is a great show - no matter who is hosting it. However, I think NBC needed and wanted this change. I am not sure when it begins or anything but if it is going to be airing w/ American Idol, they needed to add a new face.

The past 2 days I have been doing the Biggest Loser (BL) exercise DVD. I love that Bob is so encouraging, and it's great on the parts where you are punching that it has a direct camera angle so you look like you're punching him in the face! :lmao: Not that I would, but it keeps me focused. I am sore today, but I will continue!

AND.... Bob is from Virginia Beach, where I live! :love:

Funny I was always surprised that she never lost weight. It seems like watching those people pound their bodies trying to lose would be enough to motivate anyone to really step it up.

Didn't Alison have a weight loss recently? Or maybe not so recently. But I sorta remember her losing weight and it being a big deal or something.

Yes she did lose weight. But it was a while ago. And she was in some Xenedrine ads. But I read or saw an interview with her and she did "Sugarbusters"to actually lose the weight. It's pretty much a low carb diet. But she had a baby since then and still looks good. So she obviously learned how to keep her weight in check.

I'm not sure when it starts to air, but I know it begins filming tomorrow 4/27. They are filming in a new place and from what I hear the show will be structured a bit differently.

I believe they start airing the new shows in the Late August/ Early September time frame. It usually ends in December if I'm not mistaken. Bob is the last one standing from the original crew. If he goes I will be very sad! The host I thought was alright, but this should be an upgrade. I was pretty unhappy with the trainer change last year. I didn't think she was as good as the previous female trainer.

I heard or read about this change a while back. I have been a Days fan since I was 13 so 23 years (Yikes, that is like 1/3 of my life). It is going to be an interesting show that is for sure.

Yeah, they are filming at where I work. There was a lot of us peering out the windows on Friday as they were driving around in the bus (must be the opening shots). As I mentioned they have the area secured and we aren't allowed back in where they are filming; however it would be really fun to be able to watch. Can't wait to see when it airs, it'll be interesting to see what I can recognize!

I definately missed Jillian! Kim seemed too fragile, don't know how she motivated anyone. Jillian does a radio show every Sunday in LA which is available as a pod cast. I love listening to her show each week (usually out monday night). Fun and very informative.
