was told there was no discount on our POP Century Room we have for 1 night, 2 rooms. It did not apply, only at All Stars music and sports. Ill see if anyone else has luck there before calling back.

Boo hoo for us. We're going April 2-4 and was told the AP rates won't start until the 15th. She said they're pretty much sold out for our week and is sure no discounted rates will be released. We've got the Swan booked for $249.50 resort view balcony using an SPG rate (50% off rack). I doubt we'll do better then that. We prefer the Disney Epcot area deluxes but will have to do that next time.

I had my first "unmagical" moment with a Disney Cast member in 13 years. I called to switch my reservation and I couldn't find my number so she looked up by my phone number and told me I didn't have a reservation. I told her that I did have one and was there any way she could look it up and she hung up on me:headache:
I called back and got the nicest gentleman and he found my reservation with no problem and my room rate on POR went from 175 a night to 129 a night. More Mickey bars for us:)

Thanks for letting us know. I have been checking the Disney passholder site since 5:00 am this morning and they hadn't updated it. When I got to work I looked again and nothing.....then I looked at the DisBoards.
I got a discount on our campsite......COOL!

I called this morning as soon as I read that the rates were out. I talked with a reservationist, who got an attitude as soon as I said that I wanted to modify an existing reservation. She told me that there were no AP rates available at the POFQ for my dates.....so, I asked her to check the AKL....she acted as if it was a bother...then said 'no AP rate availble'....I asked her to check Coronodo Springs ...and she said 'nothing available'....by this time I asked her to check any resort for AP rate availability for my dates....and she hung up on me.
I called back a few minutes later....and the new reservationist confirmed that there were no rooms at the French Quarter...but, noted availability at Riverside.....Coronodo Springs...and Animal Kingdom! So, I got the AP rate at Coronado Springs.....:yay:
When I got off the phone I was so irritated at the first reservationist's attitude that I called back and spoke with a Supervisor. She was very nice and said it would be difficult to find out who I was speaking without having her name...but, she said she would try to check the phone records. She told me that she was very sorry and happy that I called back and was able to get the AP rate applied.
So.....JaJuan....I had exactly the same experience as you....must have been the same reservationist. No reason for her attitude....no reason why we should be subjected to it. Glad to hear you had sucess with your second call :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info!!!:flower3:
I had a ressie at Pop for June 1-4 on a AAA rate of $93. Nothing for Pop with the AP rate, but I moved to ASMu and got it for $74. Not a huge difference, but since we have a big trip in August the June trip has to be cheap.
If airfare doesn't come down we're staying home, so switching the resort wasn't that big of a deal.:)

Kate- Have to ask what is a SPG rate? I reserved a room there for November with a nice entertainment book discount but I just realized that if by some chance they offer bounce back again a room at the Swan wouldn't qualify so I may have to rethink my choice.

OP, thanks for posting!! We had AAA rates before and saved a little more with the AP:
3 nights at Pop for $284.01 -- went to $249.75
4 nights (waterview) at POR for $707.64 -- went to $670.52
So the total savings was $71.38, enough for a couple of nice table-service meals. :thumbsup2

Hey Canadian Guy now is a good time for a dissertation on the virtues of the fickelness of AP discounts.:surfweb:
Yes the AP discounts are always this fickled. Sometimes some resorts don't have any offered, sometimes there are weeks blacked out, sometimes months are blacked out. Last summer there were no AP dicounts at the value and moderate resorts for June and July. I've seen September skipped over, we saw October skipped completely one year.
As for having a prior ressie. It actually hurts you because it gives the resorts the impression that the resort is full. If the resort is full, no discounts will be offered for that resort. As you've seen some posts that the Poly is not offering discounts, people holding those ressies must now decide to either pay full price or move to a resort offering the discounts. I've been an AP holder since 1995, so I've seen lots of AP discounts come and go. The key to getting a good price, not always at the resort you want, is flexibility.

I just tried to add the AP discount to my Pop Century reservation for 5/15-5/22. Non wear available. :sad1: They did offer me a room over at All Star Sports but I wanted to stay at PC so I kept everything the same with my AAA discount. I think the AAA is about $85.00 a night and the AP was $79.00 so not too much difference.

As far as I know there is no code. You just call up CRO and ask to have the AP rate added to your reservation. They'll let you know if it's available. You will need to show your AP when you check in.

We had a POP century reservation from april 24 to may 2 for a total of 898.52. Of course no AP discount for out time period and did not want to switch to ALL-Star.
I was quoted $1168.98 for coronado Springs for the same time with AP and I was quoted $1476.00 for Animal Kingdom with AP so I splurged and with Animal Kingdom.
it is $164.00 per night base plus tax.
Is this a good deal?
I hope this helps others.

For anyone calling, make sure that they actually look up the new dates. When I first called she told me that AP rates were only out through the end of March. I told her that several people had already recieved them for Apr/May and then she went looking and found it.
We only needed one night for the begining of our stay. I was hoping for WL, but it wasn't available (Apr 21st), however I got Contemporary MK View for $387! That's $117 off!

It's on the passholder site as FDB. I looked after I got off the phone!
I wanted to add that the dates on the passholder site say : 4/15/07 - 4/19/07; 4/22/07 - 5/24/07 and 5/28/07 - 6/2/07 . However, I got an AP rate for 4/21.

I called about noon and got POFQ for $129/night + tax. We already had a AAA rate for our ressies there (4/26 - 5/5), but the AP rate brings it down a little more now. We are staying our first night at POP but didn't get a discount for that night. Thats all right; I'd much rather get the discount for the 9 nights at POFQ than the 1 night at POP. Does anyone know the discount for the campsites ($25 off)? Would that be the ones for the RVs or just for the tent campers?
My sister tried to make a reservation recently but was told that the campground usually fills up so for next year just make the reservation a year ahead - and now I see that the campground has a discount available.
I don't know my sisters dates of travel.

I booked a vaca for Coronado Springs Resort for May 16-May 26. I called this morning at 7 and they said they could only apply the AP discount to an upgraded room with a king sized bed. I'm not complaining seeing as I still managed to save $200 and get an upgrade...but I would have taken a standard room for a steeper discount! Anyone else find this for these dates for moderate resorts?

I called this morning (around 10:00) and booked CBC for 129 plus tax. I agree with the above poster. Call again and see what happens.
I had the nicest CM ever this morning - Jason. I let his superviser know, too. We were trying to decide between CBC and POR. Jason informed me of food court refurb at POR. It's supposed to be finished the middle of April - but just in case, maybe I should consider CBC instead. I wish the CM's had extensions so we could contact them directly.

I already had a reservation for May 5-13th for a preferred room at All Star Sports. I just called and she switched it over to the AP rate with no problem. My ressie was already paid in full, so she asked if I wanted her to credit it back to my credit card or just leave it on the room as a credit. I just found out that the AP rates for April came out (why did I have to be out this morning) and just had the discount applied to my reservation. Phew!
We'll be at the WL from 4/16 - 4/22. Could only get Courtyard view, not Woods view. Oh well - it'll be fun to stay in a different area of the lodge, right? The CM said we got the last bunk bed room (that doesn't mean someone shouldn't still ask because you just never know!).
Original rate for WL at this time is $345 a night. The AAA rate I had booked us at was $310 a night. The new AP rate is $244 a night. :cool1:
Total for 2 adults, 2 kids for 6 nights (with tax) is $1647. Yeah man! My DH is going to be thrilled. I didn't even hesitate to ask about other hotels (I've been on the fence about trying another hotel). I just booked us in WL and know we'll have a great time! :wizard:

I was out all morning and just saw this afternoon that AP rates were released for my trip dates (May 2- 12). I called at 1:15 and was able to get that applied to the AAA rate ressie I already had at POP. That saved another $114.20 - overall savings of $250.
When I called I didn't give a code but just told the CM I found out more AP rates were released today. He went right to work making the change for me. He was really nice! :goodvibes In fact, I had 3 very nice CMs today - the one changing my ressie rates, a CM in dining, and a CM that booked a tour for us. Did you try for the same dates as the poster above?
AP rates are available for some resorts some weeks.. and not others. Unless you specifically said your dates were flexible.. Way flexible going your travel date in your SIG file.. you would be correctly told perhaps they were not available for your week.

02-21-2007, 08:33 PM
This may be enough to lock in my decision to buy an AP, even if only for the discount. How much difference is it to buy an adult AP vs. an 8 day MYW base ticket? Like $200? I'm trying to figure out my break even point in hotel savings total to be worth getting the AP when I know I won't be back before it expires -- totally for the hotel discount.
Thanks!

What does AP stand for?
Annual Pass. If you buy an annual pass, you can get certain discounts sometimes during the year. Right now, we're all celebrating on getting the annual passholder's rates on our hotels now that the April - May dates have been "released". Before today, there were only discounts available thru the end of March.

I can give you half of the info. An annual pass (with tax) will cost you $462.21 (if this is a new pass and not a renewal. The renewal cost is $419.61 with tax). Hope this partly helps. You can probably go on the disney site and price out the 8 day MYW ticket.

I can't tell you for an 8 day ticket.. but a 7 day ticket purchased at the park gate is 271 or so.. and the same 7 day ticket purchased in advance is around 264.

With regards to the break even point for AP vs MYW: Making one trip to WDW is unlikely to net you a break even point. An exception to this would be a family of three staying at a deluxe resort for seven nights with the discount. Ofcourse this would only save money if you had originally planned on staying at the above mentioned resort. Two trips in a year would save money on most scenarios. Hope this helps.

I'm trying to figure out my break even point in hotel savings total to be worth getting the AP when I know I won't be back before it expires -- totally for the hotel discount.
Thanks!
Here's another thing. If you buy an AP, you can also add DDE to it for $60 and get 20% off most of your meals. That includes alcohol. So in order to justify the additional $60, you just have to plan on eating $300 worth of food - pretty simple to do in Disney.
So if there are a few adults in your group, and the food prices are going to be high, that's another way to justify an AP on top of any potential room savings.
For us, it cost us $260 more for the AP and the DDE. We're going to be in a group of 7 adults and 1 child for 6 nights. We figured out it would be worth it for the meals savings alone.
When the discounts came out yesterday, the AP saved an additional $55 per night over the AAA rate for one of the rooms at the CR and the AP was paid for. Now the 20% DDE savings is all gravy.
And we're only going on 1 visit to WDW during the year.

I'm still on the fence about the DDE. Working it out we would just break even because there are only two of us. The only CS meals included in the savings are at AK right??

We changed to the AKL - Pool View for less than what we were going to pay for CSR Waterview.....:cool1: :cool1:
How much per night if you don't mind me asking?;)

Yesterday, the AP discount I got at the CR dropped my nightly rate from $400.50 (the AAA rate I already had) to $344.00. It's actually 56.50 per night off but I was rounding off. I think the rack rate had been 445 per night but I already had the AAA discount so the AP just saved the difference between the 400.50 and 344.00.
We have 2 rooms at the CR. When I tried to get the same deal for the 2nd room, they told me there were no additional AP discounts available. So I lucked out getting the discount for the 1 room at least.

That I'm not sure about as far as the CS goes.
Depends on how many days you'll be there during the year. You'd need to spend $300 at restaurants that accept dde to justify it. Also, it looks like most of the WS restaurants at epcot accept it so if you go to those places for food, drinks, etc.
For us it was a no-brainer b/c there are 7 adults. If it were just 2 of us, we'd probably still do it b/c we'd end up hitting a few restaurants for dinner over the course of 6 nights and it would add up to over $300.

The DDE recently increased to $65 (still a good deal!) :)
Did anyone get an AP discount on the family suites at ASMu? I know that these rooms haven't been discounted in the past. Just hoping that they will be included in the discounts soon!:)

Checking back in... found out that WL had no rooms at AP rate for my dates, so I switched to CSR for $167/night (incl. tax). Okay, it's not the WL, but I'm spending less than HALF of what I once was. Much more palatable!

For late April, I had a ress at the Poly GV for $385 ($433.12) per night. Could not apply the AP, and switched over to the GF GV for $324 ($364.50) per night. The savings of $412 for 6 nights just about pays for the AP ($460-ish). Not a bad deal. :goodvibes
When I got through at 7:05, there was nothing at the Poly, and I could not get the first night for the GF. So I kept the Poly. Called again at 7:50 and got all 6 nights at the GF. Nothing was ava at the Contemp (always wanted to stay in the Tower). Definitely on the list when our son is a little older. However, the convenience of the GF is hard to beat.
If the rates become ava for the Poly (and with enough cancellations they might), I'll probably switch again for further savings ;) $284 per night sounds even better, and we can finally stay at the Poly!!
Now if the stupid airlfares would just drop. . . :scared:

Hi Everyone! If you don't get the AP rate room you want on your first try, keep calling back and trying. I was on the phone at 7 AM yesterday morning trying for a standard view room at CSR. The Disney Rep told me only king bed rooms were available so I booked. I called back a few times yesterday and had no luck, but called this afternoon and the Disney Rep found me a standard. She said sometimes the system doesn't show all that is available. So instead of saving $200, I'm now saving $400! So keep on calling :)
