I was wondering if anybody uses a solar charger to keep their battery charged up. I was at the Daytona 500 over the weekend and my battery kept dying by morning because my propane heater was running a lot. I ran the genny a few hours a day to charge it back up but wish I hadn't had to because I didn't need a generator. I was also wondering if the solar panel has to be aimed exactly at the sun or does that matter.

Hey Stack.. I did a google search for Solar RV Panels and got a lot of hits. I've been wanting to add panels myself, but have decided to wait a couple more years until we get a new trailer. I believe from what I read that the "best" way to have them oriented is true south. One dealer actually sells RV kits (mrsolar.com). I have even seen some portable units that "roll-up" so that you can take them with you - pretty slick.

You got to see a great race..! IMO - they should have thrown the yellow..!!

I do too dad. I don't know why Jarrett or some older driver who was lapped didn't spin or something on purpose so it would have ended.

I'll check on the mrsolar thing. I'm looking into upgrading to a Class C so now I guess I'll be looking for 2 of them lol.

Our motorhome has a solar panel. My husband loves it - I swear I think that's why he picked out this motorhome! He shows it (the solar panel) to everyone that comes by???? Me, I love the side by side refrigerator w/ ice maker.:thumbsup2

stack - jcwhitney.com has some inexpensive solar battery chargers, might be more of what youre looking for. They also have some panels (expensive!). Click on the RV/Camper tab...then look for the batteries section.
