We are having a nightmare! We are in the process of buying a house, and selling ours. We love the house we are buying, and we were all set to move in next Wednesday.

But these things never run smoothly it seems....our buyers (unbeknown to us until very recently) are now stuck as the bf is in the Marines. All we were told originally was that he worked away, and that they were first time buyers ready to move....The truth of the matter apparently is that he was supposed to be home weeks ago, but they have extended his tour of duty. We would never have accepted their offer had we known what we know now because it was clearly a situation that was likely to go pear shaped.

Well it seems he is in fact in Afghanistan, and that there has been a problem in getting the documents to him to sign. We were told last week it was all in order, that he had received the form, signed it, and it was on it's way back. But today we actually found out that he hasn't received it, and that he going 'out in the field' tomorrow for 10 days, so we are not going to get it for at least 2 - 3 weeks - and that's if that goes to plan and he doesn't end up off base for much longer.

This puts our purchase in jeopardy now, as we are working to a strict timescale of next week to complete. We have only just found this out, so it hasn't been put to our vendor, but I know it's going to cause a major hassle, and I am just praying we don't lose the house.

On top of this, have just found out that I am pregnant, and we desperately need a bigger house.

It's all getting on top of me....we have packed boxes everywhere, I feel so tired, and I can't stop crying. I hate to be so out of control :sad2:

So please, a little pixie dust our way would be hugely appreciated!

Sorry for moaning on, I know we are not the only ones with worries right now.

What has your estate agent have to say about all of this? Moving house is one of the big stresses in life, so try and relax and count to TEN -I know thats hard to do!
Congratulations to you both on your pregnancy :)

Congratulations Kirsty :goodvibes

I feel for you. We're buying a new build at the moment and it was supposed to be signed off on the 09th Feb but due to 'technical' issues it will be at least 3 more weeks taking us to 09th March. We have to leave our house this Friday and have to move in with Gavin's Mam & Dad. Luckily Redrow are paying for the cats to go into the cattery but it's still far from ideal

I can understand your frustration. We had huge problems with our house move just over a year ago. In our case our buyers were fine, it was the vendors solicitors that were a nightmare and we didn't exhange until the afternoon before we moved. In your case it does not seem like your buyers have been straight with you and you may want to think about putting your hosue back on the market. I accept that circumstances may have been beyond their control but they could have told you sooner. You need to think about yourself and you can't hang on for them forever.

Lots of pixie dust whatever you decide!

Congratulations Kristy. Moving house is one of most stressful thing we have to cope with so you really need to take time out and think about yourself and your "new" situation. Everything else really is just bricks and mortor.

It's all getting on top of me....we have packed boxes everywhere, I feel so tired, and I can't stop crying. I hate to be so out of control

The tears and tiredness are probably down to being pregnant - as I felt like this and I wasn't moving! Grab your favourite book, a bar of chocolate, lock yourself in the bedroom and have an hour to yourself.

Sending you all the pixie dust you need and hope it all gets sorted out soon.

Thank you all for your kind wishes, it's amazing what some kind words can do to lift your spirits.

No news on the house yet, but still have our fingers crossed that something can be sorted quickly. It's so frustating - it's just a scribble on a piece of paper causing so much despair!

I will let you know what happens....

Congratulations on the pregnancy  as for the house i feel for you, we were in the same boat a few years ago the house our vendours were buying had to go through probate our buyers were threatening to pull out so we thought we were going to have to take out a bridging loan as i didn't want to lose this house. Just look after yourself and try not to worry too much:grouphug:

Just thought I would post an update about where we are currently....

After a week of money juggling, begging, racking our brains, and being generally very stressed, yesterday we had some really good news in that it was agreed we would at least exchange contracts, with a view to delaying completion. At least that way we would know both our sale and our purchase were safe, and the peace of mind in that would be priceless.

It was too good to be true though. Today, we were in a position to exchange on both, but the seller of the house we were buying couldn't be contacted to confirm. We were led to believe that he had no issue with the delay in completion, so it just an agonising wait for the call to say exchange had gone through.

But at about 4pm, the call came to say he was not happy to delay completion, and would not authorise exchange. Apparently, he has financial commitments - which of course I can understand - and he says he has no option but to complete on Wednesday. The problem is, we can't without selling our house, and even a bridging loan, if it were possible, wouldn't give us funds by Wednesday.

The long and short of it is that he will think about agreeing if we 'pay' him for his inconvenience and the money he says it will cost him in extra costs if he has to wait. DH has said no, simply because we don't have the spare cash to do that. The seller has had it explained that his alternative is to re-market his house, and even if he had an offer straight away, there would be no way a transaction could be complete within the 2 - 3 weeks we are asking for....

He is going to consider his position over the weekend, so we will see - but in the meantime, the agonising wait continues....I would love to believe he will see sense, but sometimes people just don't, and I'm really worried he will just tell us to stuff it.

And I can't even have a big glass of wine to ease my stress levels! I am on the verge of calling the whole thing off, and just waiting a few months until I can face the whole house buying nightmare again, but we will see what happens.

he'll probably try and get the money out of you first, after the weekend i would not pay it personally. He probably will see sense Kristie as he hasnt really got any options left.

Well, fingers crossed, and lots of pixie dust still needed :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: ....we have been lucky enough to be able to borrow the £46k shortfall in selling and buying, and we have now exchanged contracts on both sale and purchase. Our purchase is due for completion on Friday, and our sale 2 weeks later, just hope it all goes to plan....

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes. We are busy packing up now, feeling a lot calmer, and looking forward to being in our new home by the weekend :goodvibes

Only just found this thread Kristie, firstly many congratulations on your pregnancy.
Secondly now you've exchanged contracts on both you can feel a bit more secure, I wish you the best for tomorrows move and I don't envy you that bit.
