Hello all, I have a question for ya. My cousin and I are hoping to fly out for the POTC premier, and we were wondering if anyone went last time or knew what to expect. I've seen some reports online that it will happen on May 19, with the park opening at 6:30am! I figure we'd have to get there early to get a spot and keep it parked there all day, but does a park ticket ensure that you can attend the premier, or will they kick everyone out at closing? We've never been to DL and so we're excited about going, but a big reason for going at this time is for the premier! Also, any input on your experiences with the good neighbor hotels would help. I've noticed there's a thread that mentions some details, but not many reviews (unless I missed something). Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:goodvibes

shhhayabout iratespay:ssst: (as if most people don't already know, lol). But, yeah, not being a celebrity actually insures that you will not be able to attend the actual premiere.

YOu can see them come down the 'red carpet', but not see the actual movie. Dl will kick you out as some point in time.

If you want a fun experience watching the movie (I know it'll be fun anywhere, but EXTRA fun), Disney owns the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, and when their movies open there, they make a big deal out of it. We went for both POTC 1 and 2, and they decorate the theater all pirate-like, and have props from the movie, and they have pirate jugglers entertaining before the movie, and an organist playing Disney songs before the movie starts, and the crowd is 100% Disney fanatics, some of them even dressed up like pirates, and it's a lot of fun. Their website is http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/el_capitan/index.html
I don't see anything on it yet about POTC 3, but I know they will have it there. pirate:

No, I was just kidding, make sure you get there early though last year the people at the end of the carpet couldn't get autographs because they had to rush to the premier so they were running past them.

OK for those of you who are going can you please tell Orlando and Johnny to come back to my house AFTER the premiere. I know that they have to be there for the premiere and that others will be drooling over them but I need them at HOME after. After a few hours they should be MISSING ME anyway.

Thanks for passing the message to my men.

You guys are great! :thumbsup2

WHAT?!?! Orlando said he was flying back to Chicago with me after the premier!:lmao:

I'm not sure what to do now, my cousin is bailing on me since we don't get to actually see the movie. I guess I'm a little nuttier than she is. The El Capitan sounds fun, but I don't know how long I can stay in California cuz I'm in grad school year round.:surfweb: But I may make some time to visit my best friend in Carlsbad while I'm thinking about coming out. :yay: And after three weeks of subzero temps, SoCal sounds very good!

Yes! Another "crazy" person flying to Disneyland for the premiere:rotfl:
It looks like I am doing the same thing. I've never been to California so I'm soooo excited about spending a week there.

My only problem is finding a friend who can afford to go with me. I might find someone to travel with, but no friend will arrive at DL with me at 4am :confused3 :lmao: Plus, all my trip expenses will be paid from everything I get for graduating with my AA in May  (Lucky me for being the 1st in the family to graduate with any college degree)

I'm also trying to find some info about the hotels.

I don't get to post much here so I will try to give as much information as possible. I did go last year to the red carpet event. We arrived at 10:30 am (the park opened at 6:30 am). We had pretty decent spots so don't think you need to camp out in front of the park. I suggest you get there when the park opens because I too believe this year will be more crowded than last.
I had others with me, so we took turns running to get supplies (water, misters). It was VERY warm last year in June. Also, bring activities to keep you amused - deck of cards, Ipods, books to read... We talked with people around us which was fun for me.
They had street performers strolling down the red carpet singing, dancing, juggling. They were dressed as pirates. Very cool.
About 2 hours before the stars were supposed to begin walking down the red carpet, people began pushing their way into line. This was very unfortunate. Some were cutting in line while others were just pushing forward. Remember I said it was quite hot that day!
Anyway, we got autographs and photos of alot of stars. It was crazy but so worth it.
After Johnny Depp walked down the red carpet they began clearing us all out of the park. California Adventure had extended their hours to accomodate for Disneyland closing early. So we headed over there for a few rides.
I am going to the Red Carpet event this year and you are all invited to sit amongst my crew! Drink up me hearties, yoho!

I'm so sorry. I just asked Orlando (he's sitting on my couch) and he said he didnt mean to mislead you. He thought you were filming a movie there and that is why he said he was going to Chicago. Since I informed him that this wasnt the case he said he was coming home. I can send you an autograph picture if you like! :rotfl:

For my birthday, I'm getting a trip to the premiere! CCI is booked....airline ticket bought...and even though we will have just been there in April, I'm goin' solo to the premiere!

That will be another item to mark off my list of things to do before I'm old...well, actually, I'm old now....but it will be pretty cool to watch all those people come down the red carpet...

I've been a huge JD fan for a long while...I even have Depp luggage...;)

Now, what to wear....besides lots of sunscreen.....????

No, no, no...not that kind of premiere. We crazy folks just get to spend an entire day standing, sitting, broiling under the SoCal sun, just for a chance, a teensy-weensy chance, that Johnny Depp will walk by us, close enough for an autograph or picture, or touch....while HE goes to the premiere!:lmao:

Why am I not reading this thread more often.

No clothes getting more attention :rotfl2: That's great.

This is hysterical! I really wish I could go but I'm afraid my 2 kids wont let me stand there all day. I'll have to watch it on TV like I did last year.

Have fun to everyone who is going and know i"m home and jealous!!!

The kid and I are both so excited about going. I can't wait!!!

We had no intentions of doing DL again so soon, but since I just happened to get my tax return when my friend asked us to come out.... I couldn't help myself. We'll arrive on the 18th.

As for what to wear, I'm thinking something comfy, my shades, and I need to find a visor.

AllJackedUp
02-21-2007, 07:11 PM
Well, I haven't EXACTLY decided what to wear...but I will be wearing my Johnny watch...carrying my JD tote bag....and my GOOD Johnny t-shirt....and holding up lots of signs....although they have to be small ones, so I've heard.

But, what I'm really excited about is the possibility that Keith may go to the premiere...which would be soooooooo sweet.

I'll definifely post pics, if I get good ones....

Can anyone who was there last year tell me if Jack Davenport (Norrington) was there? I didn't see him on the carpet, but I was only watching the webcast...
Thanks!

Woohoo! It's starting to look like a party. I really wanted to do this but figured I'd give up if I didn't have someone to help spot sit. I've got to get my hotel booked. Is the movie premiring in May too then after the premiere at DL? When POTC 2 came last year didn't they say the release date for POTC 3 was going to be Labor Day '07??

I reallly wish I could be there for the premiere, but I have been there more than once when the park was so full they had to close it, in Dec & Jan. Did this happen for the premiers of 1&2 for those of you who were there?

I was just in DL in Jan. and I got the Johnny Depp hair wig and wore it around. LOL it was so much fun..everyone kinda looked at me crooked. Only a couple others had it on, and one guy stopped me on main street to ask where I got it!

I also got my brother the full flege davy jones costume for XMAS. Not that he can ever use it...but we still HAD to have it...lol

Right at the cross walk you have Best Western Park Place, Desert Inn, and Tropicana off the top of my head. We booked the Desert Inn. Rooms are going fast. In october we stayed at Anaheim Plaza and it wasn't too bad of a walk. Ramada Maingate would be good too. There's another one stuck in there by the crosswalk but I can't for the life of me remember the name.

We were there during the premiere last year. We weren't planning on "doing" the Red Carpet thing, but we ended up enjoying it after all.

We arrived at the park at about 7:45 AM & main street was already pcked with people camping out. I do suggest that you get there early enough to get a spot towards the beinning of Main St.

I just got my itinerary from Dreams Unlimited for our trip in June and the itinerary says for June 24th "Disneyland Park will be closing early today due to the premiere of the new Walt Disney Pictures film, Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans Curse. Hotels.....here's my list of hotels that I prefer to stay at. All are right across the street.

Anaheim Plaza
Del Sol
Dessert Inn
BW Park Place Inn
Tropicana
Carousel
Camelot
Fairfield
Howard Johnson's

There is one more right next to the BW but I will never stay there, and never recommend it...Park Vue Inn.

Hi,

I'm another east-coaster flying out for the Pirates 3 premier. (First time to CA and DL). My sister is willing to fly out with me, but not willing to do the whole standing and waiting thing. Is it too late to ask if I might be able to join in on the spot holding as well?

About the only thing I'm not sure about is how far the Red Roof Inn Anaheim is from the festivities. (That's where we're booked, because I didn't hear about this until a couple of weeks ago, so I booked "late" too. )

As a So. Cal. resident, I truly decided that day to attend the red carpet ceremonies. Not being with a big group - it was easier to move around and see different perspectives. Many groups claimed space with blankets and such - so if that's your plan, you really need to be there early.

Main Street was, well to say there were a FEW people all with the same idea would be an understatement. However, it was fun!

Giveaways, lots of familiar faces, festive event atmosphere.

Yep, you can see the movie, go to the private pirates 3 party, and all on May 19th, if you, and your friend are willing to pay 1500 dollars each then DL will allow you to do the red carpet, private movie party, and watch the movie when the stars see it.

Maybe if I'd had a like about a year or two to make it happen, I could have bought tickets to the premiere, etc., but a month is too short a notice for me to come up with $3,000. Those that can are fortunate though, at least the money is going to a good cause.
