View Full Version : Pittsburgh Skyline
Yesterday was DH's 50th birthday, so tonight we went to a fancy restaurant on Mt. Washington, which overlooks the city of Pittsburgh. I haven't been up there in years, so of course I took my camera (Canon S3 IS). Not quite as fancy as the other thread of the Chicago skyline, but not bad if I may say so myself.
Here's a late afternoon shot:

For those who care, the river on the left (with all the ice) is the Allegheny River. The river on the right is the Monongahela, they meet at the Point and form the Ohio River (going off to the left of the picture), which joins the Mississippi.
And evening:

Thanks Amy. It looks like a typical grey day in the Burgh. Pittsburgh at night always looks great.
Have the rivers frozen yet?

The Allegheny River has a lot of ice, but the Mon is still pretty clear since it flows south to north.

Thanks! I have a Canon S3 IS, had it on Night Scene (the one that's on the dial, NOT under the SCN mode). I was bracketing my exposures +2 to -2, but this one was just as metered by the camera. I'm very happy with it!

Yep, both the Mon and Duquesne Inclines are there. The Mon Incline is near Station Square; this picture was taken past the Duquesne Incline, more down toward the Ohio.

Thanks, Vicky! I saw your post on your thread with the sunrise picture about how much you liked "the Burgh" and I was going to give you the link to this thread, but I see you found it already!
