Hi! I've typed this twice and then thought--no, I can't do any more swaps. Then DH just shook his head and said, "Oh go do it. It's more video game time for me!" :rotfl2:
Could I have the 1st page kit group with December, please? Is Christmas-related stuff ok? I can do more "cold weather"-related stuff if that works better.
Thanks for hosting!!

Ladies,
I think snow and christmas themes are great. I know that most of us will use them in our books. I know we do not get much snow, but I think it would be fun to use in my book with pictures of us in shorts or at the beach.... Or snow on Main Street.

Can I just clarify topper dimensions please? is 8x2 the largest measurement i.e. the bottom mat?
Also, can I take it no-one minds if they are not all identical as long as they are all identical quality and components (for example, some may have pink letters, some yellow etc. but they will have similar levels of enhancement e.g. all double matted and embellished with say 3 flowers each)?
I'm just sitting here at work doing the maths on the paper needed, so I'm trying to remember what I already have and work out if its enough!:headache: I think I have more than enough as I got a package the other day (but don't tell DH  )

For June I have chosen a beach/tropical theme in blue colors.
The June embellishments are
2 yards of blue checked ribbon
10 beach themed eyelets. There are 2 of each kind. The different eyelets are crab, beach ball, sail boat, star fish and ice cream cone.
There are 4 pairs of flip flop brads (right foot and left foot) brads in red, yellow, green and orange.
The "other" item is two die cuts, a beach ball and a sand pail with shovel.

I've finished my page kits! (I hope we fill the last places as I've made 12 :rotfl: ). Just need to get my supplies together and split up for the embellishment bit.
I had a brainwave last night and got all the spare buttons off blouses etc. out of my button box, took them out of the plastic bags they came in and put them back in loose - now I have loads of small ziplock bags for brads etc! As I found a button off a suit I bought in 1985 I think its a long-overdue job! :lmao:

For years I've just put them, bag and all, into a box in my sewing chest. then I was reading an article about putting buttons on pages and I wondered if I had any special buttons I could use - when I saw all those tiny ziplocks it just clicked! I'd spent a lot of time wondering how to package up brads for this swap - as I've literally just started using them I don't have a system yet, but have them in tiny freezer boxes I used to use for baby food:rotfl2: Its a pity we all have digital cameras as film cannisters would be great. I think next time I'm in Hobbycraft I might get another sewing thread box - or even check in my cupboard and move the threads form my "project" box to my "main" box, and free up the box.
I never realised scrapping would be so :headache: !:rotfl:

So I am okay with whatever grabs you creatively.

Either is fine with me, but if whoever is doing October also has fall them might we be falled out? Of course, if you don't have kids then a school theme would be no good anyway. As DH and DS(13) have birthdays in Spetember and its our wedding anniversary those would be fine with me :rotfl2: :lmao:
In case anyone needs to know, my April kits are predominantly pink and lilac. DH was impressed, but what does he know ;) I'm so glad I got my Xyron PCS - also that I didn't have to cut out and stick the letters for the longer months! (February is a challenge, right?:scared1: )

BBQ would be best for me as we don't celebrate 4th July over here (wonder why:lmao: )
I'm still a bit torn with mine - I've seen some nice poinsettas, or padded reindeer, but you'd only get one each porbably. The padded tartan bows are cute - about 1/2 inch and you'd get 6-8 each. Leading question - does size matter:rotfl: quantity over quality??

Yeah, I know it would be good, but I have leaf dies in various shapes and sizes and had ideas for that. I'd have to buy pumpkins. I'll look around, but I think you'd like the leaves. (well, if I can get it out of my head and into the paper that is... )

O yah, it was B&MB who has the pumpkin die.
I really like leaves. Hence all the leaves on my Thanksgiving elements for the holiday swap last year.
If you use the tool for embossing, you can put a main vein in the leaves, if they are large enough.

Just back and reading through the thread. I've got March in Group 1 and was wondering if everyone would prefer a St Patricks theme or a spring theme? I'm not sure what is being done with April but I don't want everyone to get too much springy stuff but then if no one does anything for St Patricks day thats not good either. Any other ideas? My DH had a basketball idea but thats only good for us college fanatics. LOL

02-26-2007, 02:10 PM
Is Easter more often in March than April? Eggs and bunnies would be good then. If you want to steer clear of religious themes you could use the general "new life" idea - lambs, chicks, daffodils. Or wind - we often have it gusty in March. We don't do much for St Paddies, but as I'm group 2 for page kits don't let that worry you if you're in group 1!
leaves is good for me BTW - plenty of them in my garden, especially big cherry leaves. SPOILER ALERT - I used leaves for my Liberty Tree Tavern recipe.

leaves is good for me BTW - plenty of them in my garden, especially big cherry leaves. SPOILER ALERT - I used leaves for my Liberty Tree Tavern recipe.
I'm thinking that Easter is mostly in April. I think its in March next year but for the last couple its been April (I think). If people wanted I could do Easter though so thats another thought.

LOL
:rotfl2: or those of us, unfortunately I'm not in this group, but our finals are in March for boys basketball in addition to NCAA!!!

And then there is April Showers Bring May's Flowers.

Glad to see a couple of spots open yet...missed sign-ups!
I'll take September...I have a question though...
Do the people in group 2 want a Fall themed September or a School themed September? I can do some of each if people want different things.
Group 2...Let me know what you would prefer!
Thanks!
You got it! Thanks!

I'm not in the page kit group that you're probably talking about, and am only in the embellishment group....but, I'm doing a spring / new life type theme for April (not religious).
For March, kites are also really traditional, but I don't now if anyone still flies them anymore!!
Oh, and, I also love, love, love leaves, too!! I'm known for it with my family and friends.

Used to also say your ducks out. What ever that means? :rotfl:

We have stacks of kites! They tend to be taken on holiday in February and brought home again without coming out of their packet, as if its windy enough its often too cold to go out :rotfl: then forgotten the rest of the year. We realy must take them out more, we live near Blackheath which is great for kites as its open and flat (no hills!)

Group 2 swappers- I was looking at doing Thanksgivingf and football for my stuff but would that be useful for eveyone ( I am guessing maybe not you MazdaUK.
Thanksgiving I was going to do pumpkins and Turkey (so you could use it at other times)
I have a great Goalpost piecing with Football on it I was thinking about also.
Our topper should be the name of the month correct?

We don't do much with sports here. I don't think my boys have even watch a full football game on TV. But I'm sure I could think of something besides football to use the goal posts for if the rest of the group would like it.
Sure hope we are planning on using the name of the Month as the topper, 'cause otherwise I have no ideas for one. :rotfl:

rlovew, I could use a turkey at Christmas, and pumpkins for autumn generally (DS(7) has been begging to go trick or treating and I might let him go to a few neighbours this year), but wouldn't use football. Anything generally "celebratory" is fine though as it is DS(7)'s birthday in November ;) - that's usually my only pics for November! I could use things like cornucopia for harvest themes, or other foodie-type stuff in recipe books.
How awkward am I on the other side of the pond:rolleyes1
I've ordered my stuff for the embellishment group, and ended up with red and green ribbon, large star brads, christmas tree brads (plain green so can be used elsewhere) and little padded tartan bows. As soon as it comes I can divvy it up and go postal.

Awkward?? No! It's just a reminder and an educational position we are in.. Your football is our soccer (and I believe it's not even spelled our way and instead futball or something like that).. We actually have a British soccer camp that comes to our community for a week..and you should see the kids' faces when they are trying to figure out what the men are talking about.. Like "boots" are our cleats! My DS6 finds that hilarious...

No, its spelt football (but pronounce futbal if you're "oop North" ). Just to confuse you we also have rugby, which is like your football except we have two slightly different sorts, rugby league and rugby union (and no, I don't know the difference :rotfl: ) Just to add to the fun, what you call fusball (sp?) we call "table football". I love that you call footie boots "cleats" - I suppose its a development of running shoes (for track) being called spikes. For us a cleat is something on a yacht you tie a rope around, although I think it can also refer to the tread on climbing boots.
Two countries separated by a common language indeed!

My stuff for the embellishment group arrived (really quick! Ordered Tuesday afternoon arrived Wednesday - company called Purely Embellishments if you're interested) but sadly the tartan bows were out of stock. Would everyone be OK with two die-cuts of parcels with bows on top? The bows would be in a contrasting colour, but I'll probably stick with the red and green theme unless I can get the XPCS to take some patterned/metallic paper. I'll have a look online anyway to see if I can find anything else suitable, but I can get the parcels cut tomorrow then I'd be ready to go postal unless.....
Group 2 are still short someone for March. I just wondered whether:
1. Someone in Group 1 fancies doing another set OR
2. Someone in group 1 who hasn't started yet (or is already doing March for that group) would mind swapping to Group 2 and I would fill their place in Group 1?
What do you all think? Any takers? Then we would have 2 full pagekit groups.

Musts:

2 slide mounts per person w/ BBQ theme
Possible 5 altered paper clips per person.. I just had an idea.. if not it will be something else..

I started cutting out the parcels today but my XPCS decided the mat was not sticky enough (no matter how much I smoothed the paper down) and just kept crumpling up. I've ordered some replacement mats, but its not a company I've used before so I've also ordered something to replace the bows I couldn't get, but now I'm not sure if it will be OK. I don't know the technical term for it, but its Christmas words and phrases (Santa, Happy Holidays, deck the halls, etc.) in pieces of chipboard (squares and rectangles) I ordered 2 packs, as that will be at least 2 pieces each, but then I thought - if they're tiles, that's not enough! Or are tiles those square "bubble" stickers?
The other items are red and green ribbon (1 yard of each), star brads (big and shiny - shiny like a car!) and tree-shaped brads. I know there's a couple of weeks yet so there's still time to cut the parcel shapes, but I do like to be ready early!
For those in Group 2, you will be receiving the topper, two embellished photo mats and a matted and embellished quote (but I won't tell you what it is ;) ) - they're all in their bags and just waiting on me sorting the embellishment group packs.

The chipboard embellishments turned out to be two big square tiles - not lots of different shapes after all!:rotfl: Oh well, if I don't use them look for them in the embellishment box!
ETA: the embellishment group will each get the following for December:
2 Yards satin ribbon, green and deep red
5 large shiny star brads (one each red, green, blue, gold and purple - very shiny!)
6 christmas tree brads - three each light and dark green
2 "gifts" produced using XPCS (are they piecings or die cuts?) - box with a contrasting bow, one small one medium (but I think the medium is pretty big!)
I'll post that and the DISNEY SURPRISE swap together early next week.
