Hi everyone,

I just wanted to know how you guys found VMK...My mom found VMK in the summer, two years ago, on the back of a cereal box and showed me, and of course...I didnt bother to do anything about it. I started playing VMK in November that year though, because I saw my friend in real life playing it at her house...(Now that I think of it, it's pretty rude to play online while a friend is over...:rotfl2:)

So, how did everyone else find VMK? :goodvibes

Neopets... now that I think back, that game is SO lame compared to VMK.

I kept seeing ads on the top of the screen, and I just kept ignoring them until I finally clicked it one day.

I was checking some stuff out for my families trip to WDW in January 2006 when I saw the ad on the Disney Home page and I followed the link then and think I tried to sign up right away but it was taking forever to download the night before we left. When I got back I tried again and eventually got in (was on dial-up back then). Of course since I didn't get in before I actually went I had no clue about the quests and stuff I could have gotten there :sad2: Oh well I have been addicted since and managed to get some questing in last month when I got my day at the Magic Kingdom :goodvibes

I found VMK through a friend of mine. She told me about it at first. I didn't really care. Then I saw her play it and I was so fascinated( since i'm a total Disney Maniac!!) I thought the 3D style on a computer of Disney Parks was so creative. I've been on VMK since October 2005.:surfweb:

I was watching a WDW vacation planning DVD and they talked about it on there. Of course, they were kind of misleading on the DVD, but despite that, I still got hooked. I got so obsessed I even read the wikipedia article on VMK and learned a lot and now I feel almost like I've been playing since the beginning.

I also found out through the Disney site, it showed a pic of someone dancing in the Music Mix Lobby and I decided to give it a try. I told (BlueSavannah) and she get a membership to it too. I have been on ever since a few days after it opened and I am just HOOKED! :goodvibes: I remember that night I was up playing Falling Chairs OVER AND OVER AGAIN BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS THE COOLEST! :lmao: I was so happy when I got my name, I still don't remember why I chose greencoolcat though... :confused3 :lmao:

Yep...I had that cereal box lying around for a few months - it looked interesting to me, but Monkey refused to go on and find out about it until she learned that many of the kids in her school were playing. She started before Frontierland made it's debut, and while I was sitting next to her I thought, "Hey, this is so darn cuuuuute!" I made my own character shortly after that. I remember wondering how people made so many credits -- things were so expensive! We couldn't even afford Christmas items back then. :( I also remember trying to walk up the winner's stairs in the fireworks lobby. :rotfl: Those were the days... :goodvibes

I found out about VMK through a friend just about a year ago.

but... (and there's always a 'but')

he told me about VMK the day after I got home from my monstrous 4-parks-in-one-day adventure at WDW. Had I known about VMK before I went, I would have stopped into VMK Central and made a character in the park before I headed home (since MK was my last stop that day). Come to think about it, if would have known in advance, I would have done the in-park quests that day, too! *fumes*

and no I didn't bother looking at a park map (which I think mentions VMK). Who needs park maps when you know what rides you like, where they are located, and where all the smoking sections are in the 4 parks? :rolleyes1

I found it from the disboards :) Even before it opened there was a thread in here talking about it. I kept my eye out and gave it a try.

Funny thing is... I didnt care for it much ROFL

In fact didnt play that often until after returning from a trip and taking the VIP tour. THEN i was hooked!

I was browsing through a Disney magazine and came across an add for VMK. I remember telling myself I'd try it out, but I forgot about it for a few months and the magazine got thrown away. When the next one came, I saw the add again and was so bored that I made myself get on, and I was hooked. The rest, as they say, is history.

We joined Day 2 of Beta I read about it on the DIS prior to Beta starting and then kept watching for it to start. I have logged in and played everyday since then with the exception of the 8 days we were at WDW.

Now WDW resorts need to get with the program and have free WiFi and next time we are there our laptop will go with us ;)

The Birth of a GNome

I recieved an email about it when i signed up at the Disney website back in Jan of 05. When VMk went live, I created a character and wandered around the screen for a while trying to figure out what to do. I didnt really like it so i never played again until after I was posting a trip report and saw a VMK picture or link in someones signature that responded. After that I wandered over to this board and became hooked on VMK when i saw what fun everyone seemed to be having. I mean any game or website that lets a Mod name herself after an Evil Queen and lets ducks and cats fight with pirate ships had to be cool!

An ad on disney.com led me to it.

I joined I think June 2005

Then when I finally got my vmk name it was coodisneyfan I was devastated at first but I did not care after a while

I joined the dis Nov. 2005 I think. After I got scammed

and in May 2006 I got my 1 week ban.

and now you see me today.

P.S You would not have liked to see me before dis on vmk.

I found VMK through Neopets.com I believe when fronteirland was not even open yet, so about Nov '05 I think? Then I forgot about it for a while and came back in February/March '06 right before our family trip to WDW. I was thrilled over my first piece of quest furniture, A magenta rocket!

Well it all started summer 2005 after me and my family went on a boring two day San Diego trip where we went to Sea World and the wild animal park and stayed only one night at a hotel. So after the trip I thought up some ideas, and of course who wouldn't think of going to WDW so that's where I thought we should go next. This is what turned me into a Disney addict. While looking up some info on the WDW site I saw the VMK ad. It looked interesting so I clicked on it. And there was the movie with the five alpha people talking in different lands. Oh how I remember that old VMK site. Then I clicked on the globe that used to be there that let me sign up. But it required all this information and I didn't feel like typing that much that day. But then a few days later I decided to give it a try so I signed up and my long lost character was born. I played for a few days then went back to my trip plans which kept changing and changing and changing (but it was still WDW). Then I saw the ad again and remembered, my poor little neglected character (by the way this was November)! I tried to log in but couldn't remember my password! And my parents got a new computer so the e-mail address changed! The one I used wasn't valid anymore! There was no way to get my character back!:scared1: Now you know why I call it the long lost character. So I made a new one (Main Street still had Halloween decorations) and that's when I discovered how cool and amazing VMK actually was and I became addicted and never left my character for a few days never again to forget my password. I sure learned my lesson, and that is, if you want to keep your character, never forget or neglect it (or at least the password). The End.

I'm pretty sure that I found the link on the Disney website. I clicked on it a few times and watched the video, but I didn't join until December 2005. I think I saw the link on Neopets, too, but never bothered to click it. I was obsessed with Neopets for almost three years until I discovered VMK...O_o

Well, it was early Summer '05 I booked my trip to WDW for November. (hurricane season). I didn't exactly know what rides were at WDW, so I went to the disneyworld homepage and there were SO many VMK ads there. I clicked on one of them. Next thing I knew I saw that old cheesy vmk video (the same one in my profile), and it kinda drew me into making an account. VMK wouldn't load after I made the account, so I just gave up.

In late summer '05, I was at Disneyland and I saw the VMK booth and asked about it. The CM said to go into innoventions to see the game in more detail. And so I did, and I tried to log in there, but it didn't load there either. So I made a different account there to see if it would work. It still wouldn't load.

When I got back home, I went to the computer and put in the first account, and it didn't load. Luckily the second account worked for me ;). Once I got into the game, I went into the town square, and then into the forbidden temple. I saw a guy standing on the bridge and a girl that was stuck behind him. The girl said, "Dude, please move it." I was thinking that all the players talked like the players in the cheesy video.

and that's how it all happened. The first account never worked, and it actually got deleted at some point.

But just a little curious - shouldn't I get the born in park badge if my character's account WAS made in the account, but it wouldn't work there?

Well one day i called my sister Peasy and her daughter answered the phone. I asked my niece, "What is your mom doing?" And she said playing a game on the computer called VMK. Well i asked some questions about it and when i heard it was Disney I immediately tried to log on with my dial-up connection.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Needless to say that didn't work. After 20 minutes of staring at the VMK circle trying to load i gave up. Then when Peasy found out in August of last year that i was going to Disneyland in September, she had a gleam in her eye and started to explain a little about the in-park quests. Well one thing led to another and i got DSL and the rest is history. So I owe it all to my sister Peasy.:flower3:

I have discovered VMK on two separate occasions:

1. July 2005: I am looking for a Virtual Disneyland that I can go through just to pretend that I am there again. I find this crappy online game that I think a couple of bozos created, and give it a shot for five minutes. Bored out of my mind! I signed on as Emery.

2. March 2006: I'm trying to find a Virtual Disneyland that I can walk through to try to ascertain the specific route I'll take when I get back to the Park whenever I can. I happen upon VMK. Wow, an online Disney game that takes place in the parks? Have I ever tried this before? I signed on as PirateEmery, and I go on every so often to buy the Tomorrowland pins (first weekend pin set that I bought the most of). I then discover that VMK has these date-based items/events. I suddenly become addicted.

Nearly two monthes later, I remember that I had played the game before and as Emery. Ecstatic with the prospect that I may have unwittingly bought a super rare item, I try every password known to man. Finally, the Vault clicks open and.... nothing. Only item that it had that I did not was the New Years 2006 pin.

So, I was introduced to VMK for the first time, at two different times.

My mom found a thread about it on the Community Board. I kepy on begging my mom to let me go on. We had MSN back then. It wasn't fast enough. So, if MSN was fast enough I would of been on VMK for much longer. Then we got Yahoo! and it was much faster. I tried VMK then and it worked. I started in October 2005 and I've been playing ever since. Needles to say, of course I wasn't able to buy any Christmas or Halloween stuff back then.
