what does "very crowded" look like? what does "not too bad" look like? we just had a really cool empty parks pic thread, but what i REALLY want to see is pics of crowd levels so i don't experience shock on my trip. :upsidedow anyone?

I have lots of low/no crowd pictures, but having never really been in a crowded park (or left as soon as it was crowded) I really have none of the crowded ones. :crowded:

Just picture Times Square on NYE....O.K. maybe not THAT bad, but there are times when it is positively claustrophobic.

I don't have many crowd pictures, but here is a sampling. It's crowded in these, but we've been at WDW when it's been more crowded than this.

Various times. We tend to go on busier times (this year we did Spring Break, the 4th of July, October for F&WF, Christmas and NYE).

I believe most of these pictures were taken over the 4th of July and Christmas 2006 and the 4th of July 2005. I wish I would have taken pictures on December 27 2006 when 3 of the park closed at the same time (all but Epcot). We were at MGM and it was a nightmare. I also wich I'd taken a picture of the crowds at Epcot on a Saturday afternoon during the F&WF. It was completely jammed.

I was at MK on Dec 27 and I WISH I had a camera that day. I have never, ever, ever been at a more crowded place in my LIFE and that's saying a lot. I have been to sold out concerts, theme parks during busy times and other venues that hold many people at once and I have never seen anything the way MK was that day. It was beyond crowded and they waited too long to close the gates IMO...I saw some bad things that day but I don't want to appear to be a basher so I'll keep it to myself. Suffice it to say we left within one hour of arriving.

Go ahead and talk! I, for one, am interested. On NYE at Epcot there were some very 'un-Disney' things going on...

Basically it was just overcrowded. We saw a man having a heart attack but it was so crowded he basically just had to collapse against the bridge...no one could move so we were stuck, I felt really bad for the family. I was also incredibly worried about being crushed. (I am not kidding. We literally got smushed shoulder to shoulder at one point and basically got swept away with the crowd...a people tsunami, if you will...) At one point we were trying to go from Big Thunder Mountain area to another part of the park and they had made 'roads' with tape on the pavement/over the bridge area, but because of crowds you had to walk single file... ...

Honestly, I believe they went over their maximum attendance allowance. Disney didn't do anything else wrong per say..and I ultimately blame us for trying to go when we knew it would be crowded. If you're from out of town on vacation, then that's one thing, but we're local and should know better!! :headache:

I'll get slammed for this, but I'm not sure they should let local passholders in when it gets this crowded....:rolleyes1

We usually go at typically uncrowded times of year, but here are a few crowd scenes, dates are in the lower right hand corner.

As you can see, there's a big difference between February and May. Both of these were taken on a Friday:

You know, it looked that crowded when we went to MGM but the strange thing is, there were no lines. :confused3

Sunset Boulevard was extremely crowded (lots of lovebugs too) yet RnRC, TOT and such had no lines. Shame we're not thrill ride people. :upsidedow

We've been to WDW 11 times in the last 9 years. We've been in mid-May, May, June, September and November (Thanksgiving week). I can tell you that the parks were crowded but not as crowded as the pictures shown above. I think those show the parks at their most crowded.

OMG. I'm about to have a panic attack after seing the May 5th photo. We're going to be at Disney April 26th - May 6th - and if it looks like THAT at the parks we'll just be staying at the resort pool the whole week. My kids and I have mild crowd phobia, and I'm literally trembling from looking at that photo and imagining being there.

Perhaps this trip IS a bad idea. Ugh.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I was there Dec. 27, 2005 and that was the first time I was actually scared in the Magic Kingdom. There were so many people in Frontierland after the afternoon parade I kept thinking "if I fall, I'm going to get trampled." The only difference is that they couldn't even make a tape road when we were there. It was nuts.

I'm glad to say that is the only time i have ever found the crowds to be almost unmanagable and I am a vet of 7 summer trips to the World. :)

Try not to worry too much. I have been to the parks when it appears crowded, but the lines are more than manageable with waits of 20 minutes or less. Saturday's ofcourse will be the busiest I have witness, but otherwise you should be ok. Also, you will have more crowds during late morning/early afternoon as people are arriving to the parks. As they disperse to the different areas, it really isn't so bad.

Never been during a major Holiday, as I just don't want to deal with the bottlenecks.

In April or May it really depends on when Easter is and when colleges take their spring breaks. You can go the same week in consecutive years and have a completely different experience.

We tour exclusively in the summer months (never July 4th week) and I have felt the parks are very crowded at times but still managable. I have never feared for my or my children's safety. I've never had a problem pushing a stroller or getting from one place to another.

I'm from the New Orleans area and have been to Bourbon Street for Mardi Gras and have been lifted off of my feet and carried by the crowd (never again) it was very scary. So I can relate to being fearful in a crowd.

After reading the first few posts I wondered where we were on December 27--sure enough it was MK. I personally didn't think the crowds were all that awful, especially if you maximized the use of FP. We were at the park when it opened at 7:00 am--DS even got to wake up Tinkerbell. Later that morning we even participated in the Family Fun Day parade. Before heading over to Epcot for dinner at Coral Reef, DS was also chosen to play "Forte" at Belle's Storytime.

I think as long as you plan on getting to the parks when they open, eating early lunches and dinners, and heading to shows very early, the crowds can be very manageable at any time of year. We've been there over Christmas week twice as well as 4th of July, June, and August trips and had a fantastic time on every trip.

Try not to worry too much please! Funny, but someone else said it and I agree, we have been many times when it was VERY crowded walking around but then the lines for rides were manageable (20 minutes tops!) And other times when it didn't seem too bad walking around but then some of the lines were really loooonnnngggg! We saw both situations when we were there last month. I always say don't give up and leave too early, often times things look worse than they really are! You may go into a 25 minute show, and then when you come out the crowds are very different than when you went in.

I agree with you. We're local so this is normally what we do, we have it worked out to go on less crowded days at rope drop, ride and see everything in the park we enjoy and get out by 4 PM or so.

But in this case, I hadn't been to Disney in several years, and DH got us PAP's for Christmas so we decided to go very last minute. We didn't get into the park until well into the morning/late afternoon and got directly on the Train to go to Frontierland. What we didn't know is that the parade was starting - and it was STARTING in Frontierland so we were all required to get off the train there. The front of the park didn't look that bad but when we got off the train it was literally a SEA of people. Since the street was blocked for the parade, there was almost no way to get around. (So there were circumstances that were unusual in our case, I agree.)

But I didn't expect to go on rides that day, just soak up the ambiance, and the crowds were so unbearable it took everything we had (and over an hour) just to manuver back to the front and get out of there. Perhaps it was a matter of wrong place wrong time but I'm telling you, had there been an emergency many people would have been crushed and it was not a good scene where I was standing...the family couldn't work through the crowd to get help for their father. I have talked to others on the boards that had the same experience that day at MK but then others like you who enjoyed being there that day so chalk it up to the normal, lol :) I guess it's what you make of it...and we made it to come back another day because we had the option!
:)

EDIT - PS....Susan, I'm sure if you go in the morning and have a decent plan, the crowds should be ok for you, honestly. I only elaborated here because I was asked to...but I promise you it's not usually that bad. I've lived in Florida for over 15 years and I've NEVER heard of crowds like that at WDW.
Have FUN!

CLICK FOR LARGE VERSION (http://orangekid13.com/July_4_Crowd%20Pop-up.jpg)

after the fireworks nobody could really go anywhere for about a half hour. We just stayed put and it was a lot easier to just have the room to go somewhere after a bit than trying to push through any crowds, most people were trying to leave the park and we were going for splash mountain

We went to the MK right after the fireworks on July 4 2004 (we watched them at Epcot) and there was a 3 hour wait to get on the monorail to the TTC.

I think the most interesting thing for us (WDW vets - 25 + visits) is the relative unpredictability of crowds. Obviously crowds will be nuts on holidays, but there are times where you wouldn't expect large crowds and the place is jammed and other times when you’d expect huge crowds and it's not too bad. Clearly, you know that summer will, in general, be more crowded than February, but we'd been on a random day in June when the AK closed and been to the MK on Christmas week and had it relatively empty.

Case-in-point - this picture was taken on NYE 2006 at noon.

Go and enjoy yourself! May 5th was an obvious field trip day for local schools, at least that's what it looked like with the kids all wearing the same color tee shirts. Fridays always seem to pick up crowd wise, then thins out come Sunday evening.

We'll be there again during the same time frame and I can't wait!

We have gone in June every year and the crowds are heavy at rope drop. Two years ago the first week of June I held the camera up as we entered MK:

That is how I remember the parks entering every morning and leaving every night. The only other time it is that packed is parade time which is also crazy.

I think I was a teenager when my family was at the MK on July 4th. We vowed to never, ever do that again. Granted, MGM & AK didn't even exist at that point so everyone was crammed into EPCOT and MK.

I'm always a voice crying in the wilderness when I post this, but this thread has picture PROOF -- we were there May 5-15 2006 and it was crowded. It took us 2 hours to get home after Wishes (that has NEVER happened to us). And we were following best days advice from TGM and Unofficial Guide (only went to a park if BOTH sources recommended it for that day. Arrived prior to opening.). It was much more crowded than our usual early March visits. Hence, this year, we are going in March.

Wow, the crowd on May 5th looks really bad :scared1:
I'll be arriving at May 6th this year and I really hope we do't bump in to this kind of crowds. But I know from Disneyland Paris experience that it can LOOK very crowded at main street, but can be very manageable in the park :)

[QUOTE=cathy0124;17070512]Here's MK on Sat the 27th 2007. It was pretty crowded for a "slow season" but then again it was Saturday.

cathy0124: we were in the parks the same days as you in late January so of course I had to search through your photos looking for my family. It seems our paths did not cross. And yes I enjoyed the low crowds and did not worry about the cool temps and clouds if it kept the crowds away.

Photos from just after park opening for morning EMH at Epcot, on New Year's Eve 2003/2004. This is the area just outside M:S and TT. You can see in the second shot that the lines for both rides actually meet out in the main walkway. This is just after we rode M:S and stood in line for 20 minutes to get a fast pass for TT, which was for 5:30 that afternoon (this was around 7:30 am).

http://www.mcdanieldesk.com/EpcotNYE2.jpg

http://www.mcdanieldesk.com/EpcotNYE1.jpg

Now the crowds were ALL up front. We did all the rides we wanted first thing, grabbed fastpasses for later and hit world showcase when it opened. Until mid afternoon it wasn't crowded at all back there. It was fun to do once - and we spent a full 18 hours in Epcot that day, from early entry to close - but we'll stick to our usual May/October times from here out! Even when it was busy, though, the usual tricks work. Get up early and get to the park when it opens. No matter how busy or empty it is, the crowds arrive between 10:30 and 11 am, never fail.

To juxtapose for you. Here is Fantasyland at 10am on January 3rd - same trip. That day was a Sunday, and most people were packing up to go home that day:

We used the UG's touring plans so we had not waited more than 10 mins for anything, so when we walked out of Mickey's Philharmagic into to this sea of people I was so shocked I raised my camera above my head and tried to snap a pic. The UG was priceless that trip!!!

Found this one from MK October 1999, it was right after the fireworks, we were trying to cross the bridge into Liberty Square to go ride Haunted Mansion but most people were trying to leave the park so on the bridge, we had to squish WAY over to the right hand side (or be trampled!) It took us about 10 mins just to cross the bridge!!!

The thing that gets me is to look at the pics from July and those from the holidays. It was miserable enough with the crowds in December - I can't even fathom being so hot and sweaty at the same time. At least for NYE the weather was nice - even a bit cool in the evenings - so we weren't horribly uncomfortable (or having to smell all the people so close to us! :crazy2: ). I think I'd take NYE over July 4 any day!

Aug was more crowded than Sept but I have a feeling I ain't seen nothin' yet!!!! :scared1:

however it has been hotter than a pigs snout the times we went (but we don't mind heat actually...) and this time I am looking forward to 80.

I disagree. If memory serves, Dec. 28th last year was absolutely horrible. The line to get into the parking lot at AK reached the McDonalds by the value resorts. So we went to MGM which had to be close to capacity. Went over to Epcot and threw the towel. Before Christmas, the crowds were manageable. After Christmas the crowds were suffocating.

We were in MK on Dec 28 2006 and it was fine. Got a little crazy after the afternoon parade, but otherwise it was OK. MGM was crowded that night but still nothing scary.

I have no crowd pics and the last time I was in WDW was in June 2001, I think the most crowded place was MK, but it wasn't too bad. I think a lot of the crowd photos were from park opening entrance when the mob of people are let in and I think there were a few parade ones there. The Fastpass line one was just ridiculous though and am too :lmao: with the pic of the lady!

But then again I haven't gone in awhile, but June is one of their peak times when all the kids are out of school etc, etc. I hope it's not too crowded when I go 4/15-4/21 (post easter) though  . Although a lot of the East Coast/New England area seem to have their Spring Breaks that week and Grad night starts the last day we're there that Friday. Here's to wishing for YOAMD fast passes. :goodvibes

Remember, it's all about perspective. We go every year at Easter where many of you would absolutely hate it because it is crowded. However, because the parks open early and stay open late, the crowds are spread out. We arrive when the parks open and it's not bad until late morning/early afternoon and we have seen almost everything by then.

However! We have been bitten by showing up later (slept in) and it was crazy. BUT, the weather is beautiful this time of year.

I cant remember the exact day, but this was Christmas week 2006

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v47/dsjmeadors/100_2306.jpg

Those times don't really look that bad, for the Christmas season at least. I would have expected E:E to have a longer line! The times look like that in the summer.

Some of these photos have been taken at a not really crowded time of the year, but are in a situation that would make crowds any time of the year. Like in front of the turnstiles right before opening of a park will look crowded at any time.

It really just depends on what part of a park you are in, you could take a photo of a part of MK on NYE and it wouldn't look crowded. As for the BTMRR FastPass line photo, the ride could have just come back up and they started back allowing people to get in line again. That really wasn't a crowded time of year.

To demonstrate here are 2 pics from mid-morning in mid-July:

I'm really starting to doubt our June trip. We were spoiled when we went Dec 9-13, 2006. We were actually getting off RnR and ToT and getting right back on. Continously. The wait was about 5 minutes. Space Mtn was the same and we rode EE about 5 or 6 times by 2pm. The weird thing is, we got FPs for Soarin at 11:15am, with a return time of 5:15pm! That was a Saturday, though.

I'm planning on getting there early, breaking, and staying out late. But not too late.

I love these Crowd Photos...Great idea for a thread. I hope they keep coming. For all the postings related to the end of April. Don't worry too much. We went April 22-30 2005. It was an awesome trip. Not too bad at all.

For all the photos surrounding July 4th and Christmas. I think I decided we will never take a trip during a major hoilday. Even tho we have a June Trip(6/8-6/16) coming up. Is there a DISer chant to the crowd gods;)

We have gone the week after labor day 2 times now (2003 and 2005). They were both extremely empty. Check the empty park pictures thread. This is good and bad - if you want some of the street performer action, then you probably won't find it. If you want a zero wait time (literally) for Space mountain, then this is a good time to go. When we went in 2005, the CMs inside space mountain were just standing there with cars lined up ready to go with 0 (that's zero) guests waiting. It was awesome!

Have fun ! :cool1:

I go every year at this time, you will be fine. Just get to the parks when they first open and there will be no crowds. If you do am EMH, hop to another park when it starts to get crowded. Try to plan your parks on the day after PM EMHs. Everyone else should still be sleeping!

Well just remember you will always get those people/families who stop in the middle of the pavement/sidewalk and look at a map. That causes some people to move around others creating the image of a busy part of the park. Just a theory.

We will be there the first week of July '07. I will have some picture for this thread after we get back.

This is the exact same time we went last year. It was our first time so I have no reference but I didn't think it was THAT bad. Sometimes we had little to no wait and other times it was over 1 hour. We never got to ride Splash Mtn or Kali River Rapids because of the lines but we were OK with that. We knew we would be coming back. We utilized EMH in the morning and we did just fine.

When I was growing up, we always went to WDW in June/July/August.....It was so busy at some times that we waited upwards to 3 hours for some of the rides. Our last visit was in April and it was like nobody was there compared to all the other times we've been. I think the longest we had to wait for a ride was 30 minutes....and that was Dumbo and the Safari.

Labor Day and the period around it is NOT bad at all! It may be a bit more crowded this year due to the free dining, but it's nowhere near some of the pics you're seeing here. It WILL be hot and you may need to watch out for hurricanes, though :scared1:

We are going December 15 - 20 2007. I enjoyed your All Stars crowd pictures. But was wondering what the parks were like? I realize you may not have crowd pictures of the parks but wondered if you had personal thoughts on the crowd levels. Thanks!!

You know...I was 7 month pregnant at the time, & I am terrible with the heat. I have passed out too many times to count from the heat. I was not looking forward to having to deal with it. BUT...I never once was bothered by it. We would just plan inside things every so often or make sure we walked in the shade and since we had little kids with us, we just played it by ear and went swimming if we started to get hot or cranky. You'll be fine!

Anybody got any pics of the first week of December? Pop Warner kids?

js

Is the first week that bad with the Pop Warner kids? I thought just the hotels were bad (we always stay in our t/s at OLCC). We have been the week after Thanksgiving but this is our first time staying the first week in December. I use TGM and never have problems with crowds but we also never go when any "groups" are going. I will be there Dec. 2 -9. Thank you.

I haven't read through the entire thread yet, so I apologize if this has already been mentioned. These are very misleading comparison photos. The Feb pic was taken with a much shorter focal length lens than the May pic (or a shorter focal length on a zoom lens), and from a different position. Consequently, the telephoto compression effect gives the May pic a much more crowded look than it would have if it were taken at the same focal length as the Feb pic (and from the same position). And vice-versa. The Feb pic would look quite a bit more crowded if it were taken from the same position and at the same focal length as the May pic.

What I'm saying is that nobody should draw any conclusions from these comparison photos. The differences in forced perspective are quite misleading. This is most obvious if you look at the buildings -- they seem much more crowded together in the May pic. I know crowd levels can vary from season to season and from day to day, but the buildings aren't multiplying or moving around. :)

David

We usually go at typically uncrowded times of year, but here are a few crowd scenes, dates are in the lower right hand corner.

As you can see, there's a big difference between February and May. Both of these were taken on a Friday:

Okay, now that I have read through everything I just want to make a couple general comments about the photography itself, and how it can influence perceptions of crowds.

For the purposes of comparison, all photos would have to be taken at the same equivalent focal length (identical angles of view) and from the same position. With a long enough focal length and the right shooting position, I can make a park on the slowest day in September, early December or January/February look absolutely jam-packed with people. Conversely, with a very short focal length and a different shooting position, I can make a park on the busiest day in Christmas week, Spring break, June or July look nearly empty, or at least in such a way that most people looking at the photos would say, "Hey! Those crowds don't look too bad at all!"

I'm not saying the pics on this thread aren't interesting or fun. But whatever value they might have, they are not a good way to get an accurate comparison from time to time or photo to photo.

Have fun ! :cool1:

Thank you,Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!! That's the week I'm going and I've been so nervous!!! I'm going to check out that thread right now!!!

Ugh.

I think the week you picked is a good time to go. The end of April & first part of May is a slow time. Most schools are in session, having finished Spring Break and aren't out for the summer yet. We've been in December, April (Easter week) and are going this September. The weeks in APril we go are usually the week before o\and after Easter, so things are usually packed. However, never so much that I've been concerned about safety.
A good indicator of crowd size is Disney's rates or seasons. If you're paying less for a room, then you're "off-peak" and the crowds are typically less.

I'd have to disagree with this. We went in April (the last week) this year. Every park was an absolute madhouse. Granted it might not be "as busy" as it would in say the height of summer or during Christmas, but we were thinking this was a slower time. It didn't turn out to be the case at all. The only relief from the crowds (somewhat) was at UO and SW. I vowed never to go back in April again.

We went this past Sept. from 9/14 - 9/22.p. Now, don't get me wrong, we did have a great time. Afterall, it is Disney World and we are Disney fanatics, but we will never (and I mean never) go in September again. It was very crowded and very hot (I don't mean a little hot. I mean sweltering. When you came out of an air-conditioned ride and walked out in the heat it would take your breath way hot). I live in Alabama, I know what hot is and it was hot, hot hot. Did I mention it was hot?

I am a faithful fan of the UG and if it weren't for knowing about their touring plans and knowing how to utilize the Fastpasss system the lines would not have been manageable. There was the occasion that you walked up to something in the late afternoon and there was only a 10 or 15 minute wait, but most of the headliners kept 30 minute or more waits. At MK yesterday Space Mountain had a 75 minute wait at 3:30 p.m! Those might not sound like long waits to you Christmas/Easter week crowd people, but when we booked this trip we thought it would be a slow time. It was not.

When we left we had every intention of booking the Free Diningbounceback for next September that they were offering, but after the terrible heat and crowds my husband said he would happily pay the $1300 we saved on this trip and put it towards a slower, cooler time to visit.

We have previously been at the end of January into the first part of February and have also been end of November into first of December and those are the times we will be planning our future WDW vacations.

God Bless you people who have survived those Christmas Crowd weeks. I just don't think I could do it.

Thanks, David :goodvibes I saw your reply after I had already posted, and it makes a lot of sense. Thinking back about May 2005, the only big crowd I remember was on a Star Wars weekend, and that was mostly in the area of Star Tours itself. The park was definitely crowded, but not unmanageable.

i think it depends on your own perspective of busy! we have been the last 2 years end april begining may, and are going back roughly same time next years. we have thought both times to be fairly quite. i suffer from panic attacks in crowded places and only had 2 problems with it this year. both times it was partly my own fault and could have been prevented.

the 1st one: we watched spectro from outside the chrismas shop in liberty square, then tried to walk across main st to tomorrowland straight after.

2nd one: watched wishes from main st near caseys corner then tried to go to splash mountain.

both times everyone else was leaving the park (we had stayed for emh) so was hard trying to get through crowds.

susan555 try worry bout it being busy now, it'll just make it worse for you. i found it ok.

These photos are terrifying, I have to admit.

We are going to be at WDW May 10-17 (my kids' first trip), and thought we were attending at a somewhat "average" attendance time, from the guidebooks. But from these photos, it will be SO BUSY.

Yikes! Not sure how to prepare for crowds like these!

Was there last year, MAy 9-15th.

I have visited at Christmas and New Years and as far as last year's trip in MAy, it wasn't anywhere near those type of crowds.

It was average attendance.
Don't panic until you get there and actually see the crowds.

I think you will be fine.

GOSH, these pics have me freaked out too. We're going next Oct. I've always heard this was a great time to go attendance-wise. Now I'm hearing that F & W F causes major jams. Is Oct not a good month to visit anymore, for those of us who don't like crowds?

Btw, I have been to Disney in May (1995-moderate attendance), December (1996-NO crowds-almost too dead), Septermber (2001-week of September 11th so not a good judge of typical crowds) September again (2003-slim to moderate crowds), and January (2004-low attendance but a little too cold).

I am by no means a WDW expert, last time I was there was with Dad over 20 yrs ago. Here is my thought on quite a few of the crazy crowded pics, and please correct me if I'm wrong (here's to hoping I'm not). It just seems as tho the majority of the super crowded ones appear to be taken 1)at park opening/rope drop; 2)before/after a parade; or 3) for a water type attraction in august. To me these would be times when the park would appear more crowded, as more people are mashed into a smaller area. I tell you one thing though....if the fast pass line for BTM look like that one did when we go in January, well, hmmm...wow.

December 7th, 2007 | 2:54pm | Animal Kingdom Hey, Knox. We were there the same day. I don't have a good crowd photo... didn't think to get one. This is the shot closest to 2:54 PM that I have... it was taken at 2:39 PM.

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2gt8w/latest/gwf.jpg

I will comment about the crowds that day, though... they were really not bad at all. I don't think I saw any standby wait times longer than around 40 minutes, and even those had no effect on us... we loosely followed a UG touring plan, and between 6:20 and 6:40 PM we rode Expedition Everest three times in a row with no wait at all... just walked on. Unfortunately, we got stuck on Primeval Whirl just before closing... took about 15 minutes for the CMs to get to our car (stuck on the track) and escort us off the ride.

Much like Rick who supposedly went to Casablanca for the waters.. you were misinformed.

The first two weeks of March are ALWAYS spring break for schools and universities across North America. I'ts a BUSY time. Period. And this year Easter is March 23rd.. so the entire month of March will be just stupid busy I fear.

Thanks for the reminder not to go during the real busy times. This past Spetember we entered the MK a little after 10 for emh. The crowds were still there for Wishes due to a rain delay. DH started walking through the sea of people. I panicked when I thought he was going to attempt to get closer to the castle- there was no room and Im clausterphobic. He cut across and went by the CP where the crowd was less.
On our first Disney trip before I found the Dis, I was amazed at the crowds for Wishes. When I see all the people walking out of the park I thoguth I was going to have a bad panic attack. I just concentrated on following my DH pushing the stroller and I made it out of the park. The next time we saw Wishes that week, I made DH watch it near the railroad. I was not getting caught in the crowd again.

TDC Nala, We go March 1-15 2008. Please tell me your picture was not a good example of the crowds that time of year. I was under the understanding that the first 2 weeks of March were generally slow. Anyone else have any early March experience?

Alan

Yep. I visited WDW in March of 2006, mainly to see a couple of Braves spring training games; but I also visited three of the parks while I was there. The parks were crowded, but using a plan I was able to have a great time, with one exception. I made the mistake of going to Epcot for an Extra Magic Hours evening. The place was a madhouse.

So, I would advise you to avoid the evening EMH parks, and you should be fine.

Enjoy.

Knox and Karnak, Thanks, I see by the calendar that the park hours expand the second week. We've been there many times and I do know my way around, so we should be alright. My wife's not a fast ride person, so either I ride alone or we skip them, so that cuts the wait times way down. So much for Birnbaum's Guide and the statement that the 3rd week in March starts the busy times.

I'm sure it will not be anyway near as crowded as this week, My brother in law and his wife and 3 kids will be there the day after Xmas till Saturday....they'll be sorry I'm sure.:scared:

I took that photo and some others because I wasn't expecting that kind of crowd level at the beginning of March, seeing as Easter was in April this year. (Keep in mind the photo was taken at midafternoon at MK on a Saturday).
Next year, with Easter being March 23, I'd expect it to be worse.
