CC charge with internet purchase?

When you go through an airlines web site and purchase tickets on your CC when does it go on your bill? The time that you contract for it or the time of your trip?

when you make the reservation it goes on the card.....

we booked southwest on monday night and it is already in the VISA computer...

Oh yeah, they charge your CC almost instantly:)
