We are planning a trip to FW in June & it will be the 1st time we've camped there. I see where they have a kennel. We are staying in the 1300 loop which is a no pets loop. Can I bring my dog & leave him in the kennel? If so, does anyone know how much $ it is to stay there & if they "play" with them or do they keep them in a cage all day? I really want to bring him but don't want him to have to be shut up in a camper all day & night long either. Trying to decide to leave him home w/a friend or bring him & board him(if possible) at the kennel. TIA Any tips for a FW 1st timer would be appreciated.

You would have to kennel your dog overnight, and I think the fee was $11 for that but the price went up a little when we kenneled our dog last October. There are some outside runs which are covered and have overhead fans if your dog is an outside type. Mine is kind of a wimp so he stays inside in the AC. Kennels are large, cage fronts but fiberglass walls and floors. They will put a towel in the bottom and provide water and food if you want. You can bring your dog's favorite toys. You are responsible for walking your dog, and they do keep track of how often you come. For an overnight guest, they expect you to come first thing in the morning, a couple of times during the day, and in the evening prior to closing. They do interact some with the dogs, but no playing - they are pretty understaffed and overworked since they operate the trailrides and sell tickets for the haunted hay rides and such. The staff is very nice and always remember my beagle when we come. He loves them and actually looks forward to going there every morning. There are no reservations, so it is first come first served.

Here is a link to the kennel page -

The kennel is at the outpost at Fort Wilderness which is down where you check in on the map
As I remember they don't 'play' with your pet, just feed and board him. You can go anytime though to take them for walks and play.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm hoping my best friend is going to get to go w/us. They have a weiner dog too. She said her mom will probably watch both of them for us. If not, I'm thinking of boarding her at home where they can take care of him all the time. I just know my family is going to frown upon leaving WDW several times a day to come & walk him, then go back. He is my baby & I couldn't just come & walk him & say, Well, sorry, Mom's going back to have fun, LOL! If I weren't going to be in the parks all day it wouldn't be a big problem. Thanks for all of your help!

I know that our little guy would be much happier in our TT with the AC then shut up all day in an unfimiliar kennel. If you have to go back several times daily wouldn't it be easier to switch to a pet loop?:confused3
Just a thought!:)
