I have yet another project I would like some help on.

We have to do a powerpoint on a famous crime. A murder or a kidnapping etc. Some examples are like Abe Lincoln, John Kennedy, Marylin Monroe, OJ Simpson, the Lindburgh Baby.

I was thinking about doind the Black Dahlia but my desicions not set in stone yet. Any suggestions on this crime?

Or any suggestions for another famous crime?

This would be alot of help so thanks in advance!

:hippie:

Okay since writing that post I have researched more clearly the death Of Beth Short. And I'm not completly sure I can do it.

The pictures were just...just horrible.

What that person did to her was savage and unruly.

I'm not sure anymore if I can present a report about her now?

That would definitely be an interesting person to do it on!

I just did a paper on the Scottsboro Boys Trials.
Its about these 9 black boys in the 1930's that were accused of raping 2 white girls on a train. you can take the story as they really did do it, or you can take it as they didn't and the trials were unconstitutional and wrong. I chose to write about how the trials were unconstitutional and to express how the south was prejudice after the civil war. there is alot of evidence that shows that the trials were not conducted properly but you can still make a point that they really did rape the girls.

the south was prejudice after the civil war.

The southern states are pretty much hell-holes.

Except maybe Florida.

IDk but a big bad crime scene and based on tomorrows date makes me think the Valentines day masacre would be a good one to do. Otherwise I really don't know lol. I'll think and post back later! Good luck Jenny!

Jenny, if you can't take something graphic, don't do Dahlia. What was done to her was....just...horrible doesn't say it quite well. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen. Its amazing that someone could DO that to another person.

Try Ripper. Less graphic.

The southern states are pretty much hell-holes.

Except maybe Florida.

That's just about the stupidest thing I've read in my life. They're not "pretty much hell holes." I highly doubt that you've been anywhere IN the south, let alone long enough to form an opinion that extreme.

I know I just can't imagine that somebody could do that to a person...The pictures and the stuff I read... was all just savage... A beastly murder that was...

On that other subject...Ummm I live in the south and I love it down here...

How dare you say that..!

Lizzie Borden
The Hearst magazine heir who was kidnapped as a child and brainwashed to the point where she was robbing banks with her kidnappers and i believe fell in love with one of them? I can't think of her first name at the moment.

I just looked up the Black Dahila case, wow.....I can't beleive that wow. Speechless.

Now on the other hand Lizzie Borden.
Wasn;t she the one who inspired "Lizzzie Borden took an axe gave her mother 40 wacks.....etc." ?

She didn't just inspire it...Its the story of the murders she committed.

Yahh I guess thats what I ment. lol

Try Jeffery Dahmer or Charlie Mason or John Wayne Gacy. Crazy scary serial killers. Pretty interesting, we watched a tape about them in Ap Psych, kind of weird and really gross though too.

Just because you don't like one area doesn't mean you can generalize the entire south east as a "hell hole". And Florida is not the south. :sad2:

Well, Jenny, I would probably do it on OJ, as he is a very interesting character indeed. :)

I don't like MANY areas of the south.

I do admit to being quite extreme with that post. I apoligize for the offence. The whole south is not one big hell-hole.

I do like a few parts of the south, though (Charleston)

ahh! he lived in the same neighborhood as my dad and my friends mom. Gacy used to buy her mom, brother and other kids in the nieghborhood ice cream. my uncle used to be a bouncer at a club that gacy would often go too, he would see him alot.. :scared:

to be somewhat on topic, maybe do the zodiac murders.. i think they mostly took place in OK. im not 100% but they made a movie about it and jake gylenhall.

Umm...sorry but since when is Virginia the south?

Yeah...hmmm OJ huh... In this class we got into this whole heated discussion about if he was guilty or not.

We watched this movie in Civics about this 14 year old little Black boy named Emmitt Till. He was murdered when he talked to a white woman in a store. He was found in a river, 3 days later, horribly decomposed. The two men suspects were tried but of course were found innocent. 4 months later they sold a story for 4000$ to a magazine saying how they would have killed the boy, if they done it...

Sound familiar?

Anyway, then my dad just said something about the Charles Manson murders...
So many choices. But I think I've picked Elizabeth Short..not quite sure yet.:confused3

Virgina is often referred to as "the heart of the south" When Virgina fell, the confederacy fell.

Umm...sorry but since when is Virginia the south?

It's south of the Mason-Dixon.

It's culture is extremely southern (except Northern Virginia)

And if you consider the states who joined the Confederacy southern, Virginia's one of them.

BabyPiglet

Okay so it's technically south...but not in the southern part of the united states.

Hmmmm...weird...And Florida is in the south but not in the south?

??? Very odd...

I highly recommend researching hate crimes, as they are by far the most ill-recognized crimes, as well as least understood. In addtion, they lead to further philisophical discussion over races and why people do things.

In my state, there is a larger problem with hate crimes to and from Hispanics; howevere, across the nation most recent, hate crimes have been highest against gays, muslims, jews, whites, and blacks, respectively.

I know you may have already picked your topic, but if you are interested, here are some good sites to help your research.

What about.... JonBenet Ramsey?

... It might not be a hate crime, though.

Oh JonBenet!!!

It defantly doesn't have to be a hate crime. I probably won't do a hate crime, they're harder to explain..and yeah I watched a movie about JonBenet it was horrible...

I might do her...:confused3

Some pictures of ramsey are just creepy. I don't think kids should do pagents. She looks so plastic in most of the pictures that are left of her.

http://members.aol.com/elvers/jonben-5.jpg She looks like a little adult. Not like how a child should look.

BabyPiglet
02-15-2007, 08:28 AM
Yes and she was only 6 or 7. Lets leave the pageant making up to the adults. We should let the kids be kids becasue when you grow up, there's no turning back. Childhood is so innocent and her parents made her look like a 25 year old.

:sad2:

Those are the two choices I'm torn between. They're both very interesting. Both are tragic and savage. :confused3
